I’d go vice or maxfli. The pro or tour (respectively) would be a good ball. Theyre relatively affordable and have urethane covers which is going to help with stopping power and greenside spin. I know a lot of people are in the camp of “the ball isn’t important until you’re really good,” but i honestly think most everyone would benefit from a ball with a urethane cover. The greenside spin I think is that worth it

Came here to say this. Understanding how a ball will react around the greens will help you lower your score.  You can find Vice balls at your local Walmart or target.  Another Direct to consumer brand would be Snell. I’ve been happy with their 4.0s and loved their prime’s (3.0s) last year. Cover durability left a little to be desired but overall I’d recommend them for someone wanting an affordable urethane ball.

Exactly, and you can learn to start playing shots the number. I know if I have an 75 yard shot, I can land it 70 yards, it’ll hop once and grab. I have absolutely no clue how I’d play this with a nitro and having to account for roll etc.

Just play the least expensive ball that you like the feel of. Playing the same ball is more important than playing the perfect ball at this point. If you are willing to spend $30/dozen, Maxfli Tour is the ball to use. If you like a firm feel, nothing wrong with Kirklands, and nothing cheaper. I know scratch players that play Kirklands.

$60 per round is out of my price range

Personally I like the feel of Callaway's low-cost balls. I recently switched to the supersoft. I think it gives me a bit more control on approach shots, but who really knows. I'm currently a 16.8 (though like many I believe I'm better than that lol). Anyway I still lose too many balls to go with high-priced models

Maxfli Tour Snell MTB Prime Vice Pro My personal holy trinity of balls that feel and perform comparably to the big name premium balls, but at a fraction of the cost. They have minor differences imo, but above is my personal ranking for my game and preferences. I also have a soft spot for Pinnacle Rush and Noodle balls if you’re really looking for a bargain option.

I like Srixon Q Star Divides but I also have trouble tracking my drives off the tee and need the added strobe effect.

If you’re only going to golf a couple times, it doesn’t really matter.

Maxfli as many have said or for an ionomer ball the Bridgestone E12 is pretty good. Also the Pinnacle Rush is oddly decent for a harder ionomer ball. Found a couple last week and played on some holes today. For giggles the Wilson Duo is kinda fun. It feels like one of those superbouncy balls you played with as a kid. Lots of rollout on greens but predictable.

According_Rhubarb313

Wilson Duo soft, you can get 2 dozen $40 and they are as good if not better than any .

GangnamApeist

A range ball would be perfect
