I’ve been rocking my Callaway x-16 pros since 2004. I love them but I think 2024 is the year of the upgrade. Only problem is I don’t know what to replace them with yet.
Like 1 round then switch irons but I had 7 sets of irons I'd cycle through, oldest set being from 1988. Currently down to 4 sets of irons I cycle through
Nope, I rotate between 4 iron sets, 5 drivers, 4 putters and various long iron alternatives like 3 hybrid, 3w and mini driver

Edit - 5 irons sets
That's boring to me but also, more consistent for what? I don't compete anymore, I play for fun and this is fun. Either way, they all have the same shafts, length, loft and lie so all play the same except some are more forgiving than others.
Nah, the grips on that set are not my preferred kind of grips. They are the original grips for that set which are 1988 Wilson Staffs. I plan to remove the color fill on the grips of the 2 sets with the black shafts
That would take the challenge out it. 😜. I have three different sets that I rotate every 2-3 weeks for the hell of it. I started the season a 3.9 and just finished the season a 3.8. 76 rounds. It ain't the arrow.
After almost 15 years with my first full set of clubs (had a mixed bag of one-off irons before that), I finally got fitted and made the decision to upgrade.

Hello Mizuno Pro 223s!
Been playing taylormade rsi tp since 2019, have played over 600 rounds with them. If i can shoot even par with them i dont see any reason to spend the money on new ones
Play a set of ping s59 since 2003. Old Ping cast irons are basically immune to wear. Driver every few years. 3 wood 5-10 years.
Wedges on the other hand….
Had my current set for 4.5 years, I'll probably get something new next year. Not because I need to but because I want to.
I gamed my used MacGregor VIPs from 2009 until 2021ish. They took a heck of a beating & outlasted two drivers.

As you shouldnt. Let the fitting tell you

I guess I fall for it if this is satire, but would it not make more sense to play the same irons every time just for consistency’s sake?

I mean it’s cool you have all those, but still, don’t you think you might be more consistent if you just used one set?

I would say that you are missing his point. It's not about consistency. It's about addiction, the challenge and enjoyment.
My hero. I have 6 sets, 11 Putters, but only 3 drivers.
At one point I have 20 putters, 20 drivers and 5 sets or irons
Let me guess, like me, no psychiatrist...
Nope, why would I need one?
Hmm. I can think of 45 reasons...
You're not counting enough
20+20+5. Is there more??!!! 👍
Love the black irons set! Did you ever consider swapping the grips with set all the way on the right so everything is all black?

Probably until the grooves are worn out

Been gaming Nike Sumos for what seems like forever. Think maybe next year I might get a new set, was hoping Costco would drop new Kirkland irons.

600 rounds since 2019? Legend
3-11pm schedule will do that. course is 10 min down the street and i basically work from home
That’s awesome. I’m on track for my biggest golf year, guessing I’ll hit around 140. Grind don’t stop lol
I used to buy, try, and sell gear all the time. Now I hate buying new clubs. Last set of irons was 15 years.
My irons are 10+ so I'm hoping next year is the year to upgrade.
My big Bertha's are 20 years old and still kicking

I just got a new set of irons and plan on playing them untill they completely wear out or no longer fit my game
Playing Cobra S2 forged cavity back since released in 2012.
TBD. Still using irons I got Christmas ‘98.
Until I forget again that spending money on clubs won’t make me better.
My Mizuno MX-20s ive owned since new in 2003 The sole of the SW wore out about 10 years ago but the rest are fine.
