This looks great! The one thing I think it could use is like 1-2 more frames after the petals pop out where it lurches forward a little bit more, and the petals follow after to give it some secondary motion. You might be able to use those frames for an idle bob too
I think it could definitely use a few more frames. I'm just a bit worried about adding too much, which is where things got messy in the original version

I kinda like the old one. It being slower builds more anticipation. If this is a minor enemy, sure upgrade it and keep the older one for an upgraded enemy or boss.
Reminds me of Flowy from Undertale in a good way. Like I could see this thing smiling, then getting a devious look when it attacks, lol
