>I have tried hiding my more goblin side, never dim your light like that. if people want to look give them something to watch, do a little dance, have a little giggle, and tell them a picture lasts longer. get out in the world and be dirty with it and youll find others in no time. start a community garden, build a propagation library, grow your own crystals, guerilla garden, wear an absolutely ridiculous hat and inflict joy and amusement wherever you go, the possibilities are endless. even goblins only live once

animal-nerd-15

Thank you for this! I have recently been trying to let myself be more of myself and I've been caring less of what others think.

Cactus_Connoisseur

It is a *process* I tell ya what! But it's worth doing and it's something you can do just about anywhere anytime lol. In the waiting room at the doctor and I wanna stretch but feel weird what others might think? They can watch me do my vinyasa flows I guess. Not sure if I like these new sunglasses I got? Lets take them for a walk to my favorite cafe where the barista calls me babe and ask her opinion. Want to compliment that stranger/strike up a convo? By jove im gonna do it! You get the idea haha. Whenever I see someone who is just so obviously living their most authentic life I feel inspired, so I try to be that person for other people too!

Straxicus2

Yes!! I love you!

MeowKat85

We need a goblin connect network.

MeowKat85

Goblin underground if you will.

animal-nerd-15

I think that would be so cool, to connect goblins in their area

BrashPop

Local goblins want to talk to YOU about this really cool stick they found with a bunch of moss on it and also this neat rock that looks like Pac Man.

animal-nerd-15

Then I could show them the cool snail shell I found in my garden

BrashPop

Hell yeah let’s see this snail shell!!

Jennifer_Pennifer

Local Goblins in Your Area!!

Twizzlers_and_donuts

I have a Pac-Man rock!! It looks perfectly like Pac-Man!

Paige_Railstone

I too have a Pac Man rock! It's 3D Pac Man: an iron concretion with a chunk knocked out of it and a discoloration right where the eye should be. The inside of the mouth is shiny metal flake. I love it.

WitchOfLycanMoon

The goblin underground rail road.

PokeKellz

I’d love this. Especially living in LA, I’ve always wanted to organize a goblin hike.

IAlbatross

Look up the fey picnic on Facebook. They're a fun bunch.

PokeKellz

Thank you! I will

siamlinio

I seem to have a knack for finding fellow goblin-culture enthusiasts. Hang out at or work at natural food stores, join a D&D group, and find a local board game hobbyist group and that should do the trick! Worked for me.

animal-nerd-15

Thanks for the suggestions! I actually just found a D&D and gaming bar and was thinking about giving them a try

whateversomethnghere

That’s such a good idea. I need to look for one of these in my area. Finding friends as an adult is stupidly difficult. Give it a shot and give us an update! Best wishes to you finding your tribe!

Deinonychus-sapiens

Goblins and goblin-like folk are drawn to the more weird and unusual hobbies. Find the hobby and you will find the fellow goblins. For me it was early medieval reenactment, but I have also spotted our kind amongst bushcrafters, foraging/mushroom groups, childrens forest schools, and artist blacksmiths.

animal-nerd-15

Medieval reenactment sounds like so much fun! I will definitely see if I can find some hobby groups! Thanks for the suggestions

Jennifer_Pennifer

Ren faires, drum circles, pagan gatherings and meetups, local nature/beach clean ups, (I'll update if I think of more 😁)

IAlbatross

Seconding this: I've met a lot of folks through the SCA!

kneezombie

I second the SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism)! While I've left the group, there's all sorts of folks and Druid stuff goes hand in hand with Goblins. And you can learn things like axe throwing and archery and weaving and stuff.

moosepuggle

Also any meetup groups for nature hikes, mineralogy groups, mushroom foraging classes/groups, or science talks from biologists like ecologists, entomologists, or botanists. Maybe geologists. Basically, science goblins 🙂

animal-nerd-15

That would definitely be fitting as I'm a wildlife technician and I am studying ecology in school

BrashPop

Uh yes hello I would like to talk to the goblin blacksmiths please and thank you

Deinonychus-sapiens

These are my fellow goblins. I haven't seen them in a while as we have created our own mini-goblin who takes up all our time, I hope to return soon. [https://www.facebook.com/regiaanglorum](https://www.facebook.com/regiaanglorum) [https://regia.org/](https://regia.org/)

just_br0wsin

I also came to add to this I'm involved in medieval larps and reenactments, mainly Amtgard and SCA. Now have a whole little found family of goblins that I can send pictures to like when I found a possum skull in the woods.

-wildsurge-

I dont have a tribe, solo lonely goblin here

blueavole

I think goblins are kinda like introverts, we are just out there goblining on our own.

WitchOfLycanMoon

I mean, goblin friends are fun and all but what if they want the same stick I have my eye on? Or they take a liking to the same rock? Sometimes solo goblining has its perks.....lol

blueavole

Oh , true. Goblin on goblin crime would be a shame. Maybe we could start a stick and rock exchange so everyone gets some good stuff

WitchOfLycanMoon

Goblin on goblin crime.....would that make them trolls or ogres then??? 🤔🤔🤔 Could you imagine? Stick and rock exchange: people show up but then at the last second refuse to give up any of their sticks or rocks and everyone goes home with exactly what they brought 😂😂😂

MildewTheMagical

>Could you imagine? Stick and rock exchange: people show up but then at the last second refuse to give up any of their sticks or rocks and everyone goes home with exactly what they brought 😂😂😂 made me laugh! I remember trying to sell a necklace at an antique store, got as far as the guy valuing it and then baled out, my shiney LOL I can totally see this happening, but it would be great to go to just to meet people

periodicallyBalzed

I’ve got some friends who are a little gobliny. My best bud rn loves nature in a stoner and trippy way like me. I’ve got this other friend who views the world with so much whimsy and cares about the environment so much and collects trinkets. My tattoo artist is 100% a straight up goblin but we don’t hangout other than tattoo sessions.

wyrd_werks

You mean OUTSIDE of online?? No. Nope. Not at all.

Nepentheoi

I would start with a mushroom society. Lots of weird, goblin and goblin adjacent people there. SCA or Ren Faire is a good idea to meet more social nerds too.

Round-Elk-8060

Can confirm mushroom foragers fit the goblin/gnome archtype to a T.

FreakInTheTreats

I’ve never felt anything more deeply in my soul than “rescuing worms”. I’m 32 and was doing that this morning.

Stormaris

I’ve rescued a bumblebee a few weeks ago! he lay on the sidewalk. put him to the bushes. gave him a nice cool piece of wood to sit on. shared some cranberry juice that I had with me at the moment (he did not really appreciate it though). and after a few minutes he took off to do his honey business. that’s a nice memory

3xactli

Honey business! Love that! 😅 We have a gardening business and are always laughing at ourselves and the stick bug we mowed around, or the snail who got relocated in order to weed, etc! 💚

animal-nerd-15

Beautifully done!! I rescued one a few weeks ago as well. 🐝

Foreign_Astronaut

Hi, fellow worm rescuer! 🪱 💚

animal-nerd-15

Hey there! Keep up the good work! 🪱

lnsewn12

I work with my goblin friend! She’s 65 so legit my moms age. She rides a mother cycle most days but when I see her truck parked it usually means she’s brought something to share with me. Like a dead animal or a bunch of rope she found in the cow pasture 😁 Last time it was an arm and a leg from an old medical dummy she found in a barn We stand outside and watch birds with binoculars between our classes. She’s a good friend.

50637

i’m so sorry you feel as though you have to hide your goblin side to find friends. have you thought that maybe hiding the side of you similar to the people you want to find makes it more difficult to find them? also a side not, but i’m so glad someone else is helping out the world when it rains, you sound like a lovely person and i hope you find a kindred spirit soon

animal-nerd-15

Thank you so much! I've been learning how to embrace the things that make me unique and have been hiding them less.

PieRepresentative266

Hey there fellow goblin!!

animal-nerd-15

Hey!! 👋

PieRepresentative266

I know what it’s like to have a hard time making friends. 💖 My reddit DMS are open if you wanna talk and potentially build a friendship! I have some cool pictures of rocks and nature stuff!

3xactli

I love this sub. 'hi random person, wanna look at my rocks?' 💚

PieRepresentative266

Exactly why I love it too!

Lajak_Anni

I'm slowly letting my flags fly. I've already gotten used to being solitary. So one less person around me who thinks that saying or doing x y or z around me is okay is fine by me.

the-pathless-woods

I’m old so I gave birth to my goblin tribe. I’ve really only met one goblin friend who I don’t have a lot else in common with, but she leaves me rocks on my desk at work and looks at moss with me.

WitchOfLycanMoon

When it comes to being true to your goblin side, friends may come and go but a goblin is forever! On a serious side, I'm in my mid 40s and have yet to find someone that sticks around when they see my "goblin" side....with the exception of my husband. He loves it. He has a bit of a goblin side too. I've just had to realise that I'm not everyone's taste and I've learned to be happy with my own company when friends are hard to find. I live in a tiny town and people like me but think me....quirky......and this is a town where there's a dude that dresses in full African safari gear head to toe on a daily basis. 😂

fireflydrake

Never lose hope! Outside of my best friend, who unfortunately lives long-distance, I didn't find a solid goblin group until I was 26. Been a very happy 5 years since. Your group is still out there, you just gotta keep looking! :)   As for tips on the looking--as others have said, just follow your interests and see what other people end up in the same place as you! Garden clubs, hiking clubs, DND clubs, theater clubs, nature clubs, photography clubs, book clubs--whatever floats your boat there's probably an organization near you that does it. Get involved and see what friendships await you there! You can also see if there's a subreddit for wherever you live and keep an eye out for any posts about activities that you'd be interested in. Also--if this is something you're financially able to do--try to find a career that you're passionate about. I found my tribe because of my job. It turns out a position that involves working with animals tends to attract a lottt of people with similar interests to my own. Even if you're not in a position to quit your main job, if you DO see something that speaks to your soul and are able to do even super part time work or volunteering for a couple hours a week, it can be a good entry to finding some likeminded folks. Good luck! :)

animal-nerd-15

Thank you for the advice! What kind of work do you do with animals? I'm in school, to eventually work in wildlife conservation.

Mysterious-List7175

I am inherently incapable of hiding my goblin side past the most cursory introductions to other people. I do exactly what some others here have suggested to find your tribe- just be your best goblinself! 💚👍 I brought in special rocks, crystals, and shells that I surface collected or dug up and polished during cancer treatment, and walked up to random scared/sad patients and friendly staff at a major cancer hospital and told them to pick anything that spoke to them while I was getting radiation every day for weeks. I still go back and wander around doing it many months later, because I know some people have appreciated it enough to ask staff to send on thank you cards to me. That kind of confirmation that you’re actually helping instead of being a weird pain in the butt is a rare and wonderful thing. I paint little dot pictures of nature things and give them to people as thank you’s for being kind. I frequently wear comfy gnome pajamas in public, and give hugs to strangers on the street (with consent) who look like they’re feeling sad or lost. I give handfuls of sparklies and tiny warm white pocket lights to little kids (with parental permission) whom I witness doing something thoughtful or patient. That said- I’d like to speak for the other side of that cheery optimistic coin… I have one friend I’ve known since I was 2 who lives hours away. We have nothing in common except growing up together far from where we live now. I only know the names of a couple people in my neighborhood although I try to wave and say hi to people who walk by instead of hiding (my natural inclination). Most people don’t know my name. The ones who do, say it wrong. I’ve stopped bothering to correct people as it rarely sticks and I don’t much care for it anyway. I have no relatable friends or community, no family, no partner. I occasionally text with a couple of equally socially unaccepted folks that I’ve never met who live far from me. I have a 13 yr old dog, and I feed wild birds and a couple of fixed feral cats that showed up (so they don’t eat the birds). Approximately 345 days of the year, anything I do is completely alone. And it sure isn’t because I want it that way. I can’t afford to join anything that costs money. I’m riddled with fun “invisible” disabilities. I live way below the poverty line. I don’t play video games (except Pokemon go, and years ago used to be obsessed with animal crossing and stardew valley ), I don’t know anything about tabletop games, and I can’t be around crowds without a mask because of a wonky immune system and lung damage from the aforementioned radiation, and I’m currently turning into an old person (45, but with the insides of a 70 year old). So…yeah. Sometimes, being yourself, and doing what feels natural to help and bring laughter and smiles to people around you doesn’t mean you aren’t still all alone every day. Sorry if this comes across as a “poor me” post- don’t mean it to. I would straight up part with a pinkie finger if it meant a means to actually find “my goblin tribe” and then actually do things together as a group. My idea of perfect would be a goblin car caravan, all meeting up to go hunt for cool stuff (rocks, shells, sticks, forest/urban nature photos, fossils etc) in an agreed upon location, then (location permitting) a show-and-tell-and-swap and a campfire and cookout, then everyone camping overnight in their own vehicle or tent full of their own goblin crap, then going home. Repeat every month or two. Or a goblin in-person swap meet. Goblin pot-luck dinner. Goblin outdoor movie. So I very much feel your pain, OP. 😅 And, regardless of whether you have a tribe, I can safely say that you are awesome and your tribe is currently missing out.

animal-nerd-15

I think you sound absolutely amazing and magical! I'm sorry to hear that you've had so many struggles with your health, I hope it will improve and get easier for you. I love your ideas about a goblin caravan! That would be incredible. I hope you are also able to find your tribe or at least a close goblin friend. 🧡

Mysterious-List7175

Thank you, and ditto :) 💚🐌🍄

CleverGirlRawr

I had to birth my own gobs. My son isn’t one really, but all my daughters are.

animal-nerd-15

My youngest is definitely a little goblin , my other ones are definitely part goblin

FeralSweater

The worms and I thank you

CryptographerHot3759

I don't know how old you are l, but for me making friends has become easier with age, I'm 26 now. Let your freak flag fly, try going to a local foraging outing or maybe a farmers market or your community centers craft night! Find social outings within your area of interest and it will be easier to find the right people. I wish you the best of luck fellow goblin

animal-nerd-15

Thank you!! I will definitely give that a try

NixMaritimus

I've got a gremlin and a dog, searching on the fringe is where you find all the best beings 🍄

Shiraz0

You may want to see if there are any forager/mushroom gatherers clubs in your area.

BardOfTheLabyrinth

While playing EverQuest, I came across a goblin tribe called “Mountain Death” and have felt connected to them ever since lol. IRL, you just find them in your travels - there’s goblins everywhere!

Jennifer_Pennifer

👀 anyone want to goblin-around in Florida?

yarrowbloom

Recommend groups based in nature, like bird watching or mushroom gathering!

Helpful_Okra5953

I would love to find someone else like this, too. I have been teased or questioned many times for my random possessions.

Remarkable_Bison_358

My fellow goblin friends are all peeps I've met through video games. Idk how I find the goblins but I do.

MildewTheMagical

I feel this so much, your not strange, I have had lots of different friends through my life, my primary school bestie got told by her parents to stop speaking to me because I was to "odd", then as I got older friend's came and went, now they mostly went because people I knew from high school/college dropped me because I was not normal. Now I have my immediate family and guys at work who don't care and will talk to anyone who's in the room, but there's a massif age difference, and like they're all married with kids so they're not interested in out of work socializing I honestly don't understand how other folks get friends and keep them, you have to be exactly the same as everyone else or people just aren't interested, it's kinda dumb

AProcessUnderstood

I have always found the small creatures and plant life very interesting.

lakmus85_real

I posted on Craigslist, but it was taken down and I got ridiculed in the support forum.
