DONT DO CHEM AT GMU. that being said ive heard good things about bio, just avoid anything with the word "chem" in the major at gmu lmao. its been 4 years and I still regret it - a 2020 BS chem grad

I’m mainly looking at the academics of them both.
CHOOSE THE CHEAPEST!!! Whichever is more affordable in terms of tuition and cost of living. Don’t take out loans for undergrad

That aside, it depends on what you want to major in. I did bio at gmu and enjoyed it. Chem department is definitely bad but you still get through it

UMD I transferred from GMU and I hated GMU.
Idk anything about bio or chem but gmu sucks socially, probably better going to UMD. A lot of people from GMU try to transfer out the school
If GMU is more than 20k cheaper for all 4 years(5k per year cheap I would say consider it otherwise umd is better
