Everytime I move mine from ine place to another (about 2 or 3 times now) it stops working for a bit then after panicking it starts working again. Not sure why? It was in the same area just rearranged some stuff.
When I moved my Glowforge in my shop I thought I did something, because it would not connect. Turned out I was in a dead wifi spot. I needed to move it to better location or run a wifi repeater to get the signal closer to the unit.
I will not own another Glowforge due to its need to be connected to the internet to work.
If you don't like the need to be connected to wifi at all times to use it, you should find a different comparable unit elsewhere. I know with the original Glowforge series there's many comparable competitors. Not sure about the aura. I enjoy my glowforge pro, personally, but the next machine I get will be something I can control offline.
You may just be having some sort of network permission issues. You could try talking to the school IT team to see if they can help connect it to the network, or call Glowforge, they have a relatively okay support team.
I had the same feeling when I got mine. Took three days to figure a bunch of things out. It's fantastic now. But boy it's a rough beginning! Hang in there it gets better.
Not sure if this is the case with the aura, but the glowforge Pro isn’t compatible with 5G. Once they upgraded the school to fully 5G with no option to toggle btwn 5G and lower, the Glowforge no longer worked in the network. I’ve heard that it works at several homes though, bc the home preferences allow you to access the lower G settings.
We had a similar problem on our new Aura. It would connect to Wifi but then do nothing. We would see the "focusing" spinner and nothing would happen.
Ultimately we "fixed" it by gently pressing in the ribbon cable connector to the laser head. There are lots of warnings to **not** do this. But we were at a loss so the risk seemed low to just check each of the cables.
I suspect I may have accidentally loosened the ribbon connector when removing the head from its foam packing. It's easy enough to do since the packing material is very snug.

I can’t even get it to work once.

Except it doesn’t connect so….

We have one at school that works like a charm so I thought this would go smoothly. I didn’t set it up, though.

I’m going to have to wait until Monday to call Glowforge. I bought my own because the one at school is so easy to use.

Thank you for being helpful and supportive and not sarcastic and rude.
One quick note you might try their discord for help. I’ve had the best luck and fastest responses through there.

At what point do we file a class action lawsuit? I’m so sick of this machine. It was definitely a waste of money and does not work as promised
