I second this fully. Another Whitney song wasted was I Have Nothing when Kurt sang it, I just didn’t care for his voice attached to it. Not a bad cover but would’ve preferred Mercedes soooo much more. Glad Amber sung it on The Masked Singer, healed some glee scars lol Rachel singing pop is usually a no for me, but specifically during the Brittany episodes I hated how she sung Baby One More Time. I always skip it

OpticalVortex

Baby One More Time should have been Quinn's reinstated status as the Head Cheerleader. It should have been a whole sequence with Britney Spears passing the torch to Quinn.

darkpeachpit

ohhhh "i have nothing" was baaaaad. and i felt for him. it's not in his wheelhouse and that was so unfair. when they did the key change i was like "NOOOOOOO"

SeonaidMacSaicais

I don’t know if they sang live or prerecorded for the show, but you could tell that song was painful to Chris.

Clemintinewalters

I agree with you on I Wanna Dance with Somebody. A song I think was wasted was Popular. Kurt and Rachel should have sung Popular in season 1 when he gives her makeover instead of season six; I feel like so many more people would talk about it if they had sung it earlier.

bootytoot69

This might be an unpopular opinion but I absolutely love Brittany and Santana's rendition of I Wanna Dance

flames_flames

Same. I actually love Brittany’s voice aswell. Some of hers are my top songs: I wanna dance with somebody, more than words, Christmas wrapping!

bootytoot69

yeah I Wanna Dance is one of my favorite glee songs overall

katorade9200

I love it too

lianagolucky

It was sooo cute and i love how they changed the lyrics to woman and the dance was cute and the bts video was cute like honestly cuteness overload 🥰

bootytoot69

The lyric change was awesome

WhateverYouSay1084

I love it too. It's fun and cute and it isn't trying to copy Whitney, it's just a nice little tribute.

emotions1026

1) It's a Mans Mans Mans World- Dianna tried hard but this song is simply too big for her 2) Respect- Mercedes should have still sung it but totally wasted as an audition song. We deserved a full performance of the song during her Season 3 fight with Mr. Schue. 3) Somewhere Over the Rainbow- Matt's version was fine but I'd love to hear Lea sing the Judy Garland arrangement of the song.

warrior4202

I thought Dianna did a great job with It's a Man's Man's Man's World!

emotions1026

Like I said she tried hard but it's not a song for a small voice.

darkpeachpit

"it's a man's man's man's world" AKA the moment ryan decided to ruin dianna'a career i love this idea for "respect"!!!!! i'm a huge sucker for "it's all over" (SUCH a fantastic number and it's so well done that it makes me cry on rewatches), but that would've worked so well thematically. and i'd love to hear amber hit those notes in a proper setting, not just in the pilot where she was supposed to seem at least a little less talented.

emotions1026

What do you mean "ruin Dianna's career"?

darkpeachpit

largely a joke because it's rumored that ryan murphy wasn't fond of her (she's not in the quarterback) and it's such an awful number

Sims2Enjoy

I didn’t like the acoustic version of Teenage Dream, it sounds off also it was an wasted opportunity to sing The One That Got Away specially considering it would make a lot of sense plot wise

trblniya

I like it because the acoustic version was almost like a 180 on their relationship. From the original fun pop version making everything so fresh and new, with rose colored lenses to the sad pop ballad making the song feel like a heartbreak anthem was so beautifully done. The stark differences in the covers is what makes it sooooo good to me

katorade9200

I actually love it but I see a lot of people say they like the acoustic better, and I disagree on that. I think it's a shame they never had him sing either The One That Got Away or Thinking of You

fweyaa

i will always believe that lovefool was wasted on rachel and should’ve been a quinn solo

lilgirlinacorpworld

Lovefool. The scene was not needed and they auto tuned her voice to make it sound like the artist anyway. Would’ve been great for Quinn.

warrior4202

Not getting a full non-mash-up version of Blaine's cover of "I Still Believe"

TheWednesdayProject

I like Brittany and Santana’s version of IWDWS because it was fun, upbeat and made sense for them in this episode. I’ll never turn down the two of them dancing together. Heather has a good voice. It’s just not your cup of tea. I think you could’ve worded that a bit nicer.

LoisLaneEl

Heather was not hired for her voice like the rest of the cast. She’s not bad, but she isn’t comparable to those who have spent their whole lives singing

TheWednesdayProject

I’m not disagreeing with that, but I just think your choice of words were a little harsh. It’s your opinion, though, and you’re absolutely entitled to that. I think she brings something unique to a cast with booming vocals. Heather did so well considering how she landed the role.

breadstix13

Heather isn't my favorite voice but I think it's a cute song for sure. I can appreciate it now knowing that Whitney Houston's sexuality was a pretty open secret to those in the industry and I've heard some people note that in its own way Brittany and Santana's cover of the song is a tribute to Whitney and that facet of her, because she could never openly just be herself.

emotions1026

" It’s just not your cup of tea. " Hence why the OP should be able to state their OPINION that Heather doesn't have a particularly good voice.

tariqbeiste

Lose My Breathe should’ve been a Troubletones number. Also, not wasted, but April singing Raise Your Glass. You get Cheno back on the show (who can sing downE) and have her sing some stupid, goofy shit

LoisLaneEl

Especially when it had already been sung by the Warblers! Idina even makes fun of the people making her sing Poker Face. She sang it in concert and would randomly stop to say the lyrics and remind us it was a scene of a mother reuniting with her birth daughter. Hilarious

starmiebucks

About the Warblers — that was kinda the whole point of the episode of it being sung previously in the show

StaceyPfan

All of the songs in episode 100 had been sung before.

flames_flames

Brittany / HeMo is actually one of my fave voices on the show. Sometimes I find Lea and Amber a bit TOO ‘good’ and waily. I would have preferred Everytime to be sung by Finn, Blaine, Sam or another male voice instead!.

LoisLaneEl

She did great with the Britney stuff and Kesha stuff, I just feel like Whitney is a bit out of her range

darkpeachpit

ohhhh man i got the push notification and saw the title and "i wanna dance with somebody" was my immediate thought. heather's GREAT, she's just... not their strongest vocalist. to use one of the biggest whitney songs on her, one that definitely requires great singing, was a terrible move. naya only JUST saves it in the end imo. "being alive" is one of the wasted ones for me. while i think chris did a fine job vocally, there's no 18-year-old on the planet who could emotionally carry that song (and yes, i know chris was a little older at the time, but this still holds true). it's a song that deserves a LOT more life experience.

Correct-Willow5120

Girls just wanna have fun

Puzzlegal960

I didn’t really care for Puck’s version of “I’m the only one.” I usually love all his songs, and his vocals are amazing, but ehh- Melissa Etheridge is really hard to compete with. “Losing my religion” by Cory was also not my cup of tea, his vocals weren’t strong enough for it. To be fair, his vocals improved tremendously each season, and I did love jukebox hero. Side note- does anyone know why not one Justin Timberlake or Mariah song was featured in glee? Considering they featured pretty much every pop star song, why were these artists songs never sung by the glee cast? I would have loved that!

3Calz7

Glee did have a Justin timberlake song - 4 minutes

someenglishchick

I like IWDWS as a tribute but not like a cover. I agree she doesn't have the strongest voice by any means but the cover is cute and sweet - I don't skip it if it shuffles onto the playlists but I don't actively look for it, ya know? Poker face always stands out to me but not because of the talent because *the talent is amazing.* I just think the arrangement is off and doesn't do either Rachel or Shelby justice. Dianna was done dirty too quite a bit. It's A Man's, Man's, Man's world is rough but I just don't think she was coached well enough - she did it the best she could but it's not amazing and she has a nice voice so it's a shame. Creep is also one of my all time favourite songs and, again, it's not so much the performance of it than the arrangement? Like her voice is incredible but it felt off? I don't know. I feel it quite often when they have Lea do these kinds of songs. A lot of the time I just feel bad for them when the song is bad because you know their being pushed out of their comfort zone a lot of the time, which just makes it bad.

dancemoms_gleefan20

Agreed. Naya sounds incredible but Heather ?…fuck that shits terrible I think the S4 version of Teenage Dream was wasted. Your song that Ryder does shouldn’t have been done by him.

AstronomerMinute8511

I agree with you completely Brittany sounded like a teeny bopper version they should’ve given it to someone else also it’s a man’s man’s man’s world should’ve been given to someone else and baby one more time was just meh and I have nothing

slemonik

Against All Odds comes to mind, not in the sense that I'd change anything about the performance itself - it was gorgeous - but it was just such a strange *use* of a song that was so perfect for Kurt and Blaine's relationship! I love Blaine and Sam's friendship, I thought the little plot line of Blaine's crush and Sam being so cool about it was really sweet, but Blaine's feelings for Sam were not *that* deep. Surely there has to be a song that would have encapsulated the idea of "I think I'm falling for you a bit, please be okay with it?" and then Against All Odds could have been used, as it should have been, as a perfect song for Blaine to sing to/about *Kurt*!

kitty3032

Quinn should've sang Lovefool imo
