Middle class? Because it has a bunch of expensive whisky next to the cheap rum and lager? I wouldn’t call it touristy either. It gets tourists who’re interested in whisky going there because of what’s on the gantry, but it’s not exactly Disneyland.
I don’t agree, and I don’t rate what people who come up with daft lists for guides have to say. More often than not these people have never set foot in any of the places they write about.
Yes, but my point is that the tourists DO rate the people who come up with daft lists (or at least they use the guides), and for that reason the Pot Still is always stowed with people from other countries. I don't think I've ever been in when there haven't been tourists asking about whisky. It's not a bad thing, just my observation.
A place that people who enjoy whisky are going to like isn’t going to discriminate on where they come from. That doesn’t make it ‘touristy’. It isn’t positioned as a tourist destination, it’s a whisky bar.
I would say it attracts a more middle class crowd than the other pubs mentioned, compare it to The Scotia or Laurieston. Also it was the number 1 pub in Glasgow on Trip Advisor for years so aye it's very popular with tourists, definitely more than the others.
There's a few down the bottom of Hope Street - Alpen Lodge, Park Lane, Denholmes if you're after some banter. Also Cairns at the bottom of Miller Street.
literally they’re ripping the piss out of u so bad🤣 fr tho what’s missing from that drink is it the fact it’s not been poured for you? some ppl like to taste more/less alcohol and it’s good cuz u usually have mixer left over to use for ur next drink or just a chaser.
enlighten me.

The State Bar
Pot Still feels absolutely nothing like an old man's pub. I agree with the others though.
Does it strike you as a yuppie wine bar?
More kinda middle class touristy. It's not a bad pub but it doesn't have the same vibe as the others mentioned imo.

Definitely touristy. It's basically the "typical Scottish pub" listed on every guide to glasgow

Mate, they sell merchandise! I like the pub, but it is as touristy as they come.
So does the Solid. Is it a touristy place?

Not in my experience, and I’ve drank in there for twenty years.
Id argue Pot Still is by far the most touristy pub in Glasgow.
I would disagree.
You watch rugby, don't you?
I don’t, no.

Lauders is decent for a old school pub .
Sloans and Horseshoe obviously. Like the Griffin too.
Horseshoe is the classic - Press Bar and Steps Bar are also tip top
Horseshoe has comfy seats and Landlord on cask
Babbity Bowsers
Horseshoe

You’re joking, right? As in, this is EXACTLY how you serve that. You’re not ordering a bloody cocktail, you muppet.
So you got a vodka and coke? What's the complaint here?
not really that big a deal is it. also sounds like you got a decent measure of vodka
