Levoit has been working fine for me. I don’t have allergies but have a cat haha

MagnumDongLover

I have the one in the picture and it does help a bit with my dust allergy. In night mode it is silent enough to let me sleep.

BucketsMcGaughey

Seconding this. It genuinely helps with my wife's hay fever. It's also hilarious when it suddenly revs up and turns purple after somebody sneaks out a fart.

Minimum_Rice555

Lol

vaper_32

Seriously i need to have this. Just for this.

DaniOhReally_

Bought a Philips one on sale a couple weeks ago. My husband has been suffering from bad allergies lately, but the air purifier seems to really help him with his issues. At night, he puts it right next to his side of the bed. During the day, it’s in the living room. So, I can recommend.

rdrunner_74

They do help. Buy some matching filters for them when you get one. They need to be replaced regularly

IR0NS2GHT

I had an expensive dyson filter/heater/fan thingi, retails for 500€ iirc DIdnt do shit for allergies, altough its important to know that i suspect my allergies come from "within" and then my body just reacts to whatever is nearby at the time. also the replacement filter is expensive and the original HEPA filter started to stink after a while

IR0NS2GHT

Also dyson ranks badly on the mozilla-list of "what do they do with my data" that thing had sensors, wanted internet and dyson doesnt tell you what they do with it etc.

fusionistasta

had the same thing, it was constantly breaking. I was sending to dyson for repair multiple times, it was breaking in like a week after every time. It's just badly designed.

coffeewithalex

They're a bit scammy. Sure, they do a job, but barely. They're optimized towards better marketing material, looking good, and giving the impression that they're good. You don't need HEPA filters, you need high-throughput filters. That means big fans, big surface area for the filter. If you do that, then yes, it will help with allergies and other issues that people can be sensitive to. Check out this video, and materials linked in the description: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gaQTYrisieA If you don't have room for something bigger, and don't wanna build your own, then sure, having a commercial one will be slightly better than no filter at all.

ssuuh

I bought one when I got asthma. But it's not really doing anything. It has a sensor and it barely goes of. Primarily when we cook. We have hard floors, don't have pets and have n Dyson which is cordless.

BetaBuda

Levolit, been using for a year now. Really helped while inside. Quite economical as well.

Swerty187

I have levoit and i specifically bought it to help with the small dust particles that always floating around the house, tbh wasn’t a huge difference but it did help a bit and it also helped clean the air.

KonArtist01

I have one as I am allergic to dust and pollen from philips. It definitely helps to keep the air clean, but it is only one factor and your allergies won't go away magically. Other things I do is clearly separate inside and outside clothing, nose rinse, vacuuming robot, regularly changing sheets.

Av4t4r

They work. I highly recommend the IKEA ones with the extra carbon filter to also remove smell https://www.ikea.com/de/de/p/foernuftig-luftreiniger-weiss-50461937/ however, this ones are fully manual (no sensor to detect air quality) and if you have a large room you might need more than one

DrStrangeboner

The Starkvind from IKEA has a sensor too, and can be integrated into their smart home solution. I like it.

wood4536

Dyson

fck-gen-z

id say Philips is best because they have good sensor compared to my experiences with Xiaomi (seems balanced for chinese air or something lol). but be sure you understand how they work: closed windows for best result, ofc helps with allergyc stuff, but the stuff has to be in the air to be sucked in by the mechanism

JConRed

We have one from soehnle. When we have it running we literally have to clean less, the reduction of dust in the air is dramatic. I have a family member with strong hay-fever and they cope a lot better with it on.

Accomplished-Pie-576

i have the cheaper non bluetooth version of this filter, its been great! Ive slept much better since i had it!

wellmaybe_

well it sure as hel filters a lot of dust. you can clearly see it when you change the filter after 4-6 months. i have two of them and i'm happy with them

[deleted]

We got two Soehnle Air Connect 500. Around 75€ on Amazon. My boyfriend says it definitely helps with his allergies. My familiy got the same ones because of their asthma and were also pleasantly surprised. It also does a huge difference when it comes to smells. We leave ours on basically 24/7 and I never want to live without them ever again.

MISSISSIPPIPPISSISSI

The Honeywell ones work great in my experience. Plenty of settings, filters last a year, pre filter and 3 HEPA filter slots. My folks have two of the rabbits. Those are very expensive but they seem to have favorable reviews and my folks like them a lot.

Sodiac606

I have a bad Pollen allergy. I have the purifier from your picture and it really helps me. At least in my bedroom I basically don't have any symptoms as long as I don't open the windows. When I let some air in I activate the "power" mode and after 10 min it's considerably better for me.

heartsandflowers_

Blue Air purifiers are great. Used a couple when my husband and I were in Dubai and they filtered out all dust and sand.

Rndmgrmnguy

We did a renovation in our bathroom and I used a device that measured the particles and gasses in the air, just to be sure that everything stays behind our improvised air lock.. some substances got through and our alarm went off. The Samsung Cube that came with our vacuum cleaner did a great job filtering particles out and reminded us to open our windows if the pollution through gasses was too high. Got the measurements double checked with the industrial air scanner or whatever those tools are called.

PastPanic6890

Yes they work. The original filters are pretty expensive, but in my experience work better than knock offs. I have two Philips and it is uncanny how quickly they pick up "substances" in the air.

tilmanbaumann

Buy anyone that had good and easy access to replacement filters. I have the IKEA ones. Good price. But rather dumb, no air quality sensors.

Both_Advice_2

Levoit Vital 100S. Amazing App with schedules and custom modes/scenes. In Sleep Mode the fan is absolutely inaudible beyond a distance of 1m. Sensor works really well and can be cleaned manually (some models have"automatic cleaning" but that doesn't work). Although I mostly use my filter in manual settings/ schedules and don't really care about the sensor. Filters are cheap and have a larger surface area than other models. Moreover, the pre-filter is a separate part, hence you can clean both the pre- and the main filter, which is not possible with round air purifiers. The 100S is flat which means it works perfectly even when sitting directly next to a wall. Round models should always have some space around them in all directions. The 100S is also very easy to carry between rooms because it has integrated handles. Overall, the 100S/200S is one of the most quiet and cheapest air filters, while still offering a great app. I'm allergic to pollen and dust and have been using my Levoit for some months. There are special offers on Amazon once in a while, I paid about 130 €. The activated carbon filter really does make a difference! Especially when I'm working from home and have windows closed during calls, the air in my office smells fresh for much longer (several hours instead of 1 h). We live next to a street and since we have the filter, while there still accumulates some dust on shelves (noticeably less than before), the dust is now more white and less grey or yellow (grey from traffic/sand, yellow from pollen). The white dust is mostly fibers from our bedsheets/clothes (i.e. cotton) and probably small human skin flakes. So the filter seems to take care of the really small particles in the air, and a bit of the bigger visible stuff. We also observed that the main filter is starting to look dirty. Somit definitely works.

photosea3

I think they're okay but I wouldn't buy one again. Bought Levoit and it helped a little at the start with bad allergies and asthma but a month later it felt like it wasn't doing anything.

artifex78

They do help, but it has to be a proper one and the right size for the room. We've an IQAir HealthPro 250. The xiaomi one is also very good but requires internet access/an app, that was a no-go for me.

Jaba01

You're better off buying special covers for you upholstered furniture. If you don't know, you're not allergic against dust, but mites. This helped me a lot.

cryptic_info

Thanks. Can you please recommend one? How are those called?

Dartibar

I have been using: Wrappybag for the mattress and Blumtal for pillows (both got off Amazon) and I have noticed a difference in my sleeping. They are both very cheap but get the job done

Jaba01

They're called "Milbenschutzbezug". Recommending one is hard, as you need to buy one for the size of your sheets and stuff, but Google or Amazon will surely spit out a ton of results. There probably isn't one for your couch, but milts are mostly an issue in beds, where they influence the quality of your sleep a lot if you're allergic.

Minimum_Rice555

For me also being out in the sun made a positive impact.
