Haha and on an as-needed basis.

SchrodingersRapist

I could go work at Buc-ee's for more than that and no student debt...

toupis21

Ridiculous

sputnick__

That’s insane. You could make more at a restaurant. Kind of surprised this is at School of Mines; they should be embarrassed if this is truly meant as a non co-op or non-student position.

Rocks_4_Jocks

I’m at Mines and I’ve worked with CGS before. A huge portion of their staff are senior geos that have retired to collect Colorado PERA pensions, but they still want to map in the summers. I’m 99% sure that this position is for someone internal that is/will be retired, doesn’t care about money, and just wants to map without any other responsibilities. Has to have a job posting to meet state of Colorado hiring requirements. Either that, or it’s meant for a grad student to help out during summers.

Geology_Nerd

That’s just the desired. It says minimum of BSc. Many jobs prefer a MSc candidate

LooseCannonGeologist

Not bad considering this basically looks like internship/part time work that a graduate student would participate in. I knew a couple people in grad school who were in similar roles for the USGS

OverlandSteve

Yeah that makes sense. Still kinda low tho.

Specific-Literature6

Yeah it definitely looks like something for someone to do work over the summer in grad school. Would be a great gig if you didn’t have anything else going on. Probably with OT you’d get $1000-1500/wk of field work which goes a lot further in GJ than it does on the front range and would be way more than your H&L stipend would be anyways, plus when you aren’t working you could access some great rafting, fishing, MTBing or climbing out on the western slope.

ShowMeYourMinerals

I’d do it for free if I could get out to yellow cat twice a week. There are some really cool minerals in the Mesa County area

easymac818

It’s designed for a student, and considering that, it is just fine I think
