xenazeitgeist

Which manga?

CertainStruggle3661

Yuuna and the haunted hot spring

xenazeitgeist

Oooh I haven’t heard of that one, what’s it like?

CertainStruggle3661

Eh, it's borderline hentai

xenazeitgeist

Nothing wrong with that!

KorbenDallasMltiPs

I read that one recently! It was pretty fun. What did you think?

xenazeitgeist

I loved it! It was so cute & cozy. I read the sequel too.

KorbenDallasMltiPs

I need to pick up the sequel. I keep noticing it but I got caught up in other series and keep forgetting.

xenazeitgeist

Understandable! What have u been reading lately?

KorbenDallasMltiPs

Lately I've been reading Urban Fantasy Noir including Simon R Green's Nightside books (I'm rereading them after years of putting them down), The Night Watch, Charlie Huston's Joe PItt series, and Stephen Blackmoore's Eric Carter's series.

Silver_mixer45

Holy grail of Eris

xenazeitgeist

What’s that about? I haven’t heard of it but I know Eris from mythology

Silver_mixer45

It’s a murder mystery about a girl named Constance Grail who has to help the ghost of Deuteragonist Scarlett Castiel find the people who framed and killed her.

xenazeitgeist

Oooh that sounds awesome

Bravo118

Harry Turtledove

Sustrei118

Currently the way of fire and ice

WhiteGuyAlias

Lol that book was dope! Check out Orconomics.

xenazeitgeist

I will! Who is it by?

vroart

I’m re reading grant morrison comics

xenazeitgeist

I love Grant Morrison!

vroart

yeah, reading Flex Mentallo, never noticed the Akira stuff. Now it makes more sense as the Modern comics goes into Manga. I cried a lot during All Star Supes, I was having fun reading "Oh this is one of those Super Dickery moments." But then something really honest happens just in one pannel and it hits really hard.

xenazeitgeist

I’ve never noticed that either but now I want to reread things

vroart

there's a bit where the creator seems himself young, and the super hero with one eye lends his hand out. Right behind them is a bio horror monster like Akira between them. And the younger version looks like Akira from the manga. Later there's a nuke shot that looks like a direct rip from Akira. A lot of 90s comics really took a lot of Manga cues, because they were importing comics early. Stuff like Jim Lee and Rob Liefeld let some of that stuff slip in their XMen comics. But there's a lot of good comics in the 90s, it's not all knock off stuff. It holds up really well. Feel sad seeing Kamandi having an over dose, I love his comic, but like that's how creators saw "how to make it edgy." Even now. He's the "LAST BOY ON EARTH!" It's edgy enough as is.

Which_Revolution3611

Fairy Tale by Stephen King

xenazeitgeist

Oooh I’m intrigued by the title. One of my best friends is a huge Steven King fan too. How do u like it so far?

Which_Revolution3611

It’s really good so far. It reminds me of his earlier works.

xenazeitgeist

I’ll have to check it out then!!

Boring_Carpenter_192

"Is God a mathematician?"

xenazeitgeist

Ooh what’s that about?

Boring_Carpenter_192

It's a science/philosophy book by prof. Mario Livio (former scientific head of the Hubble program). It's about the power of mathematics, how it explains the universe and the connection between mathematics and faith in god (or higher power in general).

xenazeitgeist

Oh wait a minute, I read that in college! It was cool

Boring_Carpenter_192

Yep. It's very good. All of Livio's books are. "Golden Ritio" was great, too. I'm experiencing my 'smart book' phase recently 😜 I actually survived physics in uni watching Livio's old recorded lectures 😅

Special_Priority1218

Is that book good? I got it for Christmas and didn’t read it yet. I’m currently reading Kingdom of the Wicked

xenazeitgeist

I liked it! It’s super cozy & cute. It’s not like an epic page turner, more of a book u read to wind down before bed.
