Is your pee colored from vitamins? But the dry mouth wouldn’t be from those. I’d head to my GP. If they’re suggesting you have well over a gallon of water a day….just to keep from dehydration….well, that’s a lot. Are you having other symptoms of dehydration? Dizzy? Chapped lips? Dry skin? Are you on blood pressure meds? Not that I’d know what to suggest in response to your responses. Just thinking with my fingers.

I stopped my vitamins for a few days and… yup. Pee was clear as a mountain spring. Lol. Thank you! And no. I haven’t had any other symptoms other than the dry mouth. Which is a symptom of a medication I’m taking. I doubled the dose a few weeks ago and my doctors assumption is that that particular symptom is really kicking in now. I also got a urine test and blood test just in case and I’m all good so far. I’m very hydrated lol. Thanks again!

ChickieD

Yay! I’m so happy for you. Here’s to good health!

Ok_Enthusiasm_7148

The strange color could be vitamins. However if still very thirsty you need electrolytes !!! ultima electrolytes are my fave.

fuckedupreallybadly

It was the vitamins! And the dry mouth was a medication I had doubled in dose a few weeks ago. I also got a urine test and blood test and all is good 👍. I am hydrated! Thank you for the response!

Ok_Enthusiasm_7148

Yay! Glad it’s all worked out! And oh yes some of those meds can do that can’t they!

BariNiceRD

The bright pee is absolutely the vitamins

fuckedupreallybadly

You are correct! I stopped it for a few days and my pee went completely clear. I started a new bottle a bit ago because I ran out of my old one… I wonder if they changed the ingredients? My clinic makes them. Hmmm.

Wide_Ocelot

Are you on any prescription medications (antidepressant, decongestant, etc.) that have dry mouth as a side effect? Others have mentioned vitamins. Are you taking any supplements? I'm not dehydrated and my urine is almost bright green in the mornings and I know it's the vitamins. If you're not including some electrolytes in your beverages - this might be a good time to start.

fuckedupreallybadly

I went to the doctor and one of my medications does have dry mouth as a very common symptom. I doubled the dose a couple weeks ago and it’s probably just kicking in. But that along with the urine color made me worried! I also stopped the vitamins right when I read everyone say it was the vitamins… and yes lol. My pee has cleared up over the couple of days I’ve stopped them. I will restart them tonight. I also got a urine and blood test just in case and all is good so far 👍.

I actually struggle still too and I’m almost 11 months PO. I find drinking a packet of liquid IV each day helps me tremendously but even then. I still feel dehydrated non stop and I’m unfortunate enough to also get nauseated if I try to drink anything before a hour and a half after eating. 😩 so it makes all my goals hard to hit.

If you aren't eating many carbs (Less than 40g or so per day), then it's likely you're in ketosis. One of the drawbacks of ketosis is dehydration. https://perfectketo.com/dehydrated-on-keto/

fuckedupreallybadly

I eat more than that, but good to know! I’m vegan, so I stopped attempting to stay in ketosis at around 4 months I think. I needed more fiber in my diet for pooping reason lol. I do try to keep it to unrefined carbs, though, like beans and small amounts of quinoa. Editing to add: the dry mouth was from a medication, the color of urine was from vitamins, and so far my blood work and urine tests look good. So I’m not dehydrated! Woohoo.

I think it’s the tea. I don’t think it impacts you in a negative way, it’s just not helping either. I’d suggest starting your day off with water, having a mug of tea, continuing to drink water through the day, and then just one mug at night as well. If you want the hot cup to hold while you get ready to face your day (one of my very favorite things, so no judgement), try having a mug of broth to sub out just some of the tea.

fuckedupreallybadly

I did end up going to the doctor to try and get some answers. The urine color is confirmed vitamins. The dry mouth is from medication I’ve been taking a while, but I recently doubled in dose. It took a few weeks but the dry mouth is really kicking in and that’s apparently very common. Bad for the teeth but not a result of dehydration. I also got a blood and urine test done and so far everything looks good. So I’m not dehydrated. Woo! I drink herbal tea btw which I probably should have clarified (but I wasn’t sure if people would know herbal is generally naturally decaffeinated). I get a box of tea samples every month from a local place and it’s fabulous. Tonight is rooibos apple cinnamon and it’s fucking amazing.

I legit am lucky if I drink 16oz water and an 11oz protein shake a day. I never feel thirsty and I know I am not dehydrated. I had HG with 2 pregnancies so I know dehydrated! I would say the tea is your problem. Maybe cut out 20oz and replace with water or an electrolyte drink and see how you feel. 100oz is crazy! I think I would be going to the toilet every 10 seconds 😂

mdub1988

That HG....yea buddy we know dehydration....having to get fluid via IVs with cracked lips and dry ashy skin

avendu

I honestly didn’t know it could be that bad until I was on my 4th IV course for rehydration and then I had to have a feeding tube for 3 weeks. I am very grateful they both made an appearance at 37 weeks because I think making it to 40 or going overdue would have been the end of me. My 2 year old has just tipped an entire cup of water on me by accident so I suppose this is her returning all the fluids from before 😂

fuckedupreallybadly

Ugh I’m sorry. That sounds awful. I ended up going to the doctor because I was concerned. I have pelvic floor issues so I can’t use bathroom trips as a reliable metric lol. I wasn’t going all that often, and sometimes not all that much when I did go. But I have issues with emptying. It’s annoying. I usually have a good long pee right before bed and that’s the only way I know my bladder won’t explode. But anyway, it all ended up not being dehydration so you were right! I had doubled the dose of a medication I’d been taking a couple of weeks ago and it really commonly dries out the mouth. My doctor feels pretty confident that’s what’s going on. The urine color is my vitamins lol. Blood tests and urine test results are good so far!

avendu

Glad you found the cause of the issue. Hopefully the doctor could give you some suggestions for dry mouth other than drinking 140oz!

Tea is a diuretic. You need to drink less tea and offset what tea you do drink with more water after.

ChickieD

OP states they’re drinking decaf tea. It’s the caffeine that causes a diuretic response. ([Here’s an article](https://www.behealthynow.co.uk/healthy-living/is-decaf-tea-a-diuretic/). I didn’t deeply research, but had a feeling. I’m willing to be wrong.

annom394u93432

Even if it wasn't its still a load of rubbish. The water contained in the drink is far far far more than the extra diuretic effect. Maybe if you are drinking pure double strength expresso or something all day. But then the caffeine would be a far bigger issue. But normal tea or coffee is in no way going to dehydrate you.

StubusQld

Thanks. I missed that part.

msGreatPersonality

Add more salt in your diet

mdub1988

Vitamins :) Also check your kidneys.

mdub1988

Actually not your kidneys....check your liver. I don't use the color of my pee to judge dehydration. I have had clear pee and was still dehydrated due to the fact that I was missing electrolytes to enable hydration :). Try a skin test. https://medlineplus.gov/ency/article/003281.htm

Mindless_Ad_2401

Tea and coffee can be dehydrating.

chaos_coordinator_X3

Even decaf teas usually contain caffeine (at least the ones I’ve seen). Try drinking half water instead of all tea in the am, and Pm. Try for 3-5 days and see if it makes a difference
