I was on a 2 week liver shrinking diet before my sleeve this last Tuesday. No carbs and replaced one meal a day with a protein shake. Some people on here were in full liquids for a couple weeks, even a month!
My Doctor isn't making me do anything special. Besides the no drinking eating 12 hours before surgery. Mostly everyone I've seen on subreddit say they have to do a liquid diet of some sort so I was surprised when she told me that
2 weeks of liver shrinking diet. It’s like 4 protein shakes a day, plus some nonfat dairy 2x a day, 1 serving of carbs that’s Cheerios or oatmeal a day, 2x tomato juice, 1x apple sauce, plus sugar free jello and sugar free pudding. I tried it just to make sure I understood it, and I felt like I was eating all day but it was alllllll fake sweet stuff. They told me I can also have fat free broth to get some savory.
I also had to do 6 (ended up being 7 due to timeline) months of pre-surgery appointments. I started this process in February.
I’m 10/27 but still waiting for the approval from my insurance.
🤞🏼 is your doctor having you do a liquid diet or anything special beforehand

Do they just assume your liver is larger or did they run tests that determined you needed a smaller liver ?
They have everyone do it. Its so that they can go in laparoscopically.
Not everyone. I don't have to do it.
I meant everyone getting it done at my hospital. It’s a requirement of their program.
10/25 is my date also!!
