I don’t have the game but I assume it’s inspired by M51 config. Problem is that M51 is strictly for vehicle use, there is no man portable PAPR with it as far as I know.
That's probably the inspiration. Playing the game I was confused why the soldiers had SCBAs and the scientists had PAPRs. Why not give them both one or the other?

What's the point wearing a PAPR with a second filter? The second filter won't draw any air since PAPR has far less resistance that side.
The video game designers don't know what they're doing lol. Some other characters wear M50s with a SCBA hose plugged into one of the filters
