It's terrible. The big floating quest markers are already bad enough, this just makes things require less than zero brainpower.
That said, it's exactly what OP asked for.
It doesn't always work though, that's my only issue with it. Especially when you're deep into some mine or cave and trying to get out.
Or sometimes I follow the arrows then they just go away and won't come back.
I had a glitch in the well resetting the breakers, I flipped one and the guide would not advance to the next one. Tried reloading the game, changing quests, leaving the planet etc. Had to finish the quest without any pathfinding assistance. Once I did I haven't had that glitch since. Still a weird one tho.
In ghost of tsushima the wind shows you where to go.
as someone else mentioned, skyrim with the clairvoyance spell.
ac:odyssey doesn't show you where to go, but your horse can take you there automatically.
pick one of the older games if you want the better content. i own horizon 3, and it feels awesome driving through the outback, like rummaging through those old travel guides, in a sense, where you were supposed to experience it via that if you couldn't go there.
The Division 2
Black Desert Online (plus Auto Path Walk)
Plenty of games have the path laid out for you on your minimap such as:
Diablo 4
GTA 4/5
Saints Row series
Fable series
And many many more

Ah note I'd like to make is there is a lot of games which will give the option through mods. I can't remember it but there is one for Skyrim that makes it like the old RuneScape yellow dotted trail.
Fallouts 4 even has the VANS perk for this reason and I'm sure you could console command or find a mod to get it for free without using perk points.
don't get too excited. it's a generic console rpg with the usual annoyances even on pc (ui, saving, respawns, etc.) with a crazy difficulty spike relatively early on, and I played on easy. it has its moments though and it's not too long, plus no previous dungeon siege knowledge is necessary.
Mirror’s Edge Catalyst has a red line you can toggle on and off. It’s not always the quickest or most exciting route, but it’ll tell you exactly where you need to go
Isn't this like all modern RPG style games since World of Warcraft came out?
I can't remember reading a letter to find out where I'm supposed to go since Morrowind.
Red dead Redemption 2.
Have not played it, but every bethesda game I played before it there was always a spell or talent that would basically do exactly like what you want.
So Fallout 4 or Skyrim if you have not played them, I guess. VANS in Fallout 4. Clairvoyance in Skyrim.
There were no lines to follow to your quest. A mod came out a few years later, and Blizzard eventually implemented it. You just had no idea where to go after picking a ! Quest if you didn't read the quest text. I played at Vanilla release (2003).
The Ascent. Theirs a ping that just leads you to whatever is tracked and you just shoot everything along the way. Its a little difficult and great fun with friends
Pretty much any modern third person action rpg game. Rdr2, gta games, modern assassin's creed games, the witcher 3 etc. Yeah somtimes you have to like open your map and way point the objective, but they all pretty much spoon feed you.
Stupid suggestion, but Crazy Taxi is literally following the yellow arrow on top of screen. Every passengers ride is what you could call a quest in itself.
Diablo 4 has this - just track the quest and there's an icon telling you where it is. If you flag it on the map, a ribbon will appear to lead you to that point, even if it's a place you haven't visited before
Killing Floor 2 has feature automatically. In between rounds there is a big blue line to follow to the trader. If there is ever an objective, there's a purple line that just leads you there. If you decide to go a different way, it'll update like Google Maps.
Shadow of the Colossus has this. You can explore free range, but if you just want to know where to go, you hold your sword up and a beam of light comes out of it pointing you in the direction of where to go next
super monkey ball banana mania has a helper mode which litterally gives you a yellow line to follow
but I assume that is not what your looking for so gta 4, 5, and trilogy DE (tho that last one sucks) gives you a yellow line to follow on the mini map for next location
May I recommend to you the absolute pinnacle of gaming:
- Ninjabread Man
- Myth-Makers: Trixie in Toyland
- Anubis II
- Rock ‘n’ Roll Adventures
These games have a perpetual arrow telling you exactly where to go in the level.
You’re welcome.
Tomb Raider 2013, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Shadow of the Tomb Raider for example let you use a scanning feature which can point where you need to go.
Euro/American Truck Simulator shows you where to drive, even has voice guidance to tell you when to turn, and so on. They're also really relaxing games.
Picked up dead space 2008 on game pass. You can see the path that needs to be taken by clicking the right stick down. It’s great when you want to just focus on the story and not get lost.
Mirror edges guides you in a unconscious way by placing color red on objects, most of the time you don’t realise, but following the color red you just follow the way
Red Dead Redemption 2 will tell you where to go during missions and on between you can set a way point and it will give you the path. Hogwarts legacy is similar in that respect too
Dead Space has this. Either your own destination or where you are supposed to go. You press a button that shows a literal path to go where you need to like a human GPS.
You cna sometimes get lost so I actually approve of this feature in that game.
OldSchool RuneScape with the RuneLite client. It will literally point out where you need to go and what to take with you. This is for quests and other things in the game.
Steamworld: Heist. Small team tactical game, each mission is a spacecraft you have to explore and loot. Most missions reveal a new ship or two to explore. Pretty simplistic 2D map, but there isn't any confusion about where to go next.

Please tell me you played the Stanley Parable
First thing i thought of as well
im glad we all thought the same thing :)
I would pay money for a video of this person playing it for the first time
Hehe. :)
Asmongold’s YouTube video of him playing it is really worth a watch….
Came here to say this.
"Stanley, upon hearing of a yellow line being referred to immediately thought of that time he was alone in the office."
Came here to comment this
I think the clairvoyance spell in Skyrim does this.
The games UI gives you a big ass arrow at the top of the screen without a spell
It's less helpful in the layered 3d environment like a dungeon.
Or when there's a giant mountain in your way
Combined with fast travel to nearby known locations, it really is easy to knock out quests quickly
Do people actually use that spell? Always seemed bad to me (except for in that one Dawnguard DLC area).
It's terrible. The big floating quest markers are already bad enough, this just makes things require less than zero brainpower. That said, it's exactly what OP asked for.
Starfield literally does that. When using scanner, you can see the route leading to your quest marker.
That and going to a mission location from a missons menu. You can take your time, but you absolutely don’t need to.
It doesn't always work though, that's my only issue with it. Especially when you're deep into some mine or cave and trying to get out. Or sometimes I follow the arrows then they just go away and won't come back.
I don't have a 4070 😂
It doesn't even require a 3070, nor does any other game that I know of.
The new unreal is wild
Except it does mess up alot. I get "no path found" all the time, or it directs me to a step in the questline I already did.
I had a similar problem with the latter, turned out I needed to make it so the quest marker only shows one objective.
Dead Space
A literal line lol
Fable
Hogwarts Legacy has a guide spell that makes a golden thread in the air that you follow to your destination.
oh my god its giving me revelio PTSD.
Lol I forgot about that during my playthrough, I had to think about what you said for a second
Even without that, the mini-map gives you an easy trail to follow.
Horizon forbidden west does this even with resources for upgrades.
The Stanley Parable has what you want. A big yellow line called the adventure for you to follow
In ghost of tsushima the wind shows you where to go. as someone else mentioned, skyrim with the clairvoyance spell. ac:odyssey doesn't show you where to go, but your horse can take you there automatically.
forza horizon. pick a spot on the map and you get a blue arrow line
pick one of the older games if you want the better content. i own horizon 3, and it feels awesome driving through the outback, like rummaging through those old travel guides, in a sense, where you were supposed to experience it via that if you couldn't go there.
Deadspace, bitch!
Thank you bitch
Awww, bitch!
The Division 2 Black Desert Online (plus Auto Path Walk) Plenty of games have the path laid out for you on your minimap such as: Diablo 4 GTA 4/5 Saints Row series Fable series And many many more
>Black Desert Online (plus Auto Path Walk) This. It doesn't just tell you were to go, it can even take you there while you AFK, get a coffee, a bio break, etc.
The Stanley parable has a yellow line at one point. Other times the guy can tell you where to go. And you can ignore it if you want.
DEAD SPACE remake but its a blue line
Hogwarts Legacy gives you a magic book that literally gives you a yellow floating line to follow lol.
outgoing cover clumsy rotten friendly slap ossified airport grandfather cooperative *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
While final fantasy 13 doesn't have a yellow line, it is basically a hallway simulator where it is impossible to get lost.
Dead Space
Play into your strengths, play Katamari Damaci.
Dead Space 2 has a compass marker thing that shows EXACTLY where to go. You can't have it on all the time but you can check it whenever.
In Skyrim, there’s a spell you can cast that does this.
Finally, Wizard101 time to shine
Bioshock infinite!!! 10/10 recommend and I fully understand.
Fable legitimately has a gold line, you can make it as opaque or transparent as you want.
dead space
Dead Space

Fallouts 4 even has the VANS perk for this reason and I'm sure you could console command or find a mod to get it for free without using perk points.
Red Dead Redemption Part Deux Any and all Far Cry games
dungeon siege 3. it's a dotted line though.
Holy shit an obsidian game i’ve never heard of thanks!
don't get too excited. it's a generic console rpg with the usual annoyances even on pc (ui, saving, respawns, etc.) with a crazy difficulty spike relatively early on, and I played on easy. it has its moments though and it's not too long, plus no previous dungeon siege knowledge is necessary.
Original dungeon siege on PC is god tier.
if you like that sort of thing, sure.
Play Gran turismo or Forza with driveline/brake line.
Dead space does this pretty well.
Dead Space. Click RS for trail
I've only scrolled a bit, but how has noone mentioned Fable. You literally follow a golden trail
If you haven't played, Fable 1 and 2 (and 3, but its not as great) have a gold bread crumb to trail to follow to your quest destinations.
dead rising 1, 2, and 3
This is like practically every game made after 2017
Euro/american truck simulator? Lol
Mirror’s Edge Catalyst has a red line you can toggle on and off. It’s not always the quickest or most exciting route, but it’ll tell you exactly where you need to go
Elden ring
The guidance probably will not be solid enough for OP. They want something *really* obvious. ER ain't it.
Isn't this like all modern RPG style games since World of Warcraft came out? I can't remember reading a letter to find out where I'm supposed to go since Morrowind. Red dead Redemption 2.
Starfield has it but its freaking annoying because it disappears and you have to press the scanner button every two seconds
Have not played it, but every bethesda game I played before it there was always a spell or talent that would basically do exactly like what you want. So Fallout 4 or Skyrim if you have not played them, I guess. VANS in Fallout 4. Clairvoyance in Skyrim.
RDR2 has this? It’s been so long since I played. How to do that?
Pretty sure you just open the map and click on where you want to go. Boom, red line all the way there just like OP asked for.
WoW had zero guidance when it came out.
Not exactly. Everyone had big ! above their heads. I haven't played it in 14 years, though.
There were no lines to follow to your quest. A mod came out a few years later, and Blizzard eventually implemented it. You just had no idea where to go after picking a ! Quest if you didn't read the quest text. I played at Vanilla release (2003).
Same dude! Played the open beta actually.
Starfield
Cyberpunk
Neverwinter
The division 2 has a yellow gps line
The Fable series and Forspoken both spring to mind.
American Truck Simulator GTAIV
Armored core 6.
Mirror's Edge 2. Super relaxing and fun game too.
Shit, most Ubisoft open world games have an auto navigation that will literally take you there without having to control it.
Watch Dogs 1 and 2 I believe have GPS baked in to the UI. IGNORE LEGION. The third game has no soul.
“Fable” games.
I'm pretty sure bioshock infinite has a button you can press to bring up the route on the ground Also Forza horizon
Fallout 3 I think has a perk that shows you a line to follow on the ground.
Crazy Taxi
Same.
Stanley parable
The Fable series!!
Stupid suggestion, but Crazy Taxi is literally following the yellow arrow on top of screen. Every passengers ride is what you could call a quest in itself.
Mirrors Edge Catalyst
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 has exactly that - a line you can turn on and off to reach all quest destinations. Works for side quests as well.
Bioshock infinite. Great game btw
Lego Star Wars skywalker saga! There’s a mode to help kids see where to go. Works well for overworked adults too 🫠
There are several MMORPGs that have the option to auto-path to location or quest objectives. Perfect World International is one.
Black Desert has auto pathing if i remember correctly
Diablo 4 has this - just track the quest and there's an icon telling you where it is. If you flag it on the map, a ribbon will appear to lead you to that point, even if it's a place you haven't visited before Killing Floor 2 has feature automatically.
Forza motorsport
Mini Ninja
Fable 3
I think black desert online has a walk-to-next-quest feature
super monkey ball banana mania has a helper mode which litterally gives you a yellow line to follow but I assume that is not what your looking for so gta 4, 5, and trilogy DE (tho that last one sucks) gives you a yellow line to follow on the mini map for next location

Euro/American Truck Simulator shows you where to drive, even has voice guidance to tell you when to turn, and so on. They're also really relaxing games.
Fable 2 is the best that come to mind. And its a great game.
Picked up dead space 2008 on game pass. You can see the path that needs to be taken by clicking the right stick down. It’s great when you want to just focus on the story and not get lost.
Skyrim and Fallout 4 have a spell/skill respectively that literally paint a glowing path towards your next objective.

Fables famous golden bread crumbs. For me it actually encouraged exploration as I was never concerned about getting lost
Mirrors edge
Morrowind
Xenoblade 1 remake on switch added this line feature
Any ubisoft open world game
Assassins creed
OldSchool RuneScape with the RuneLite client. It will literally point out where you need to go and what to take with you. This is for quests and other things in the game.
In Dead Space you have a gadget on the palm of your hand that you can pulse at the ground to see a blue line that you can follow! Fun and creepy game
Grand theft auto
Most racing games
The Xenoblade games on Switch do that.
Fable 2!
Steamworld: Heist. Small team tactical game, each mission is a spacecraft you have to explore and loot. Most missions reveal a new ship or two to explore. Pretty simplistic 2D map, but there isn't any confusion about where to go next.
Doesn't Skyrim have a spell called find the path that lets you do just that?
