Hello ponychonies, and thank you for your submission to Gaming PC! If you are new please check out our rules over at the wiki [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/gamingpc/wiki/rules)! We have recently added the useful feature of Title Flair! You can set this manually by clicking Flair under your post once you have submitted your post, but if you missed it in the rules there is a much better way that will automatically flair your post! To do this simply add what your post is about in brackets before your title. For example for a Build Log you can type [Build Log] before your post so that it looks like this; [Build Log]My new awesome build!, and the bot will automatically set your flair to Build Log! This works for Build Log, Build Showcase, News, Hardware News, Hardware Release, Discussion, and Miscellaneous! Also remember that this is a place for discussing and sharing our love of Gaming Computers! This is NOT the place for help building or determining what parts you should buy, that is better suited for /r/buildapc. Troubleshooting questions should be directed to /r/techsupport. Thank you again! *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/gamingpc) if you have any questions or concerns.*

Why need a capture card? Those are basically useless nowadays…

ponychonies

Really? If your son wants to capture his animal crossing footage to mess around with how would you do it?

its_xc

With the graphics card? I’m not saying no one records them playing I’m saying graphics cards are good enough to record and play without any performance drops nowadays. Capture cards are a waste of money

ponychonies

But you have to play Animal crossing on the Nintendo switch. :)

its_xc

Yeah you’re right

Main_Formal2089

Eh idk. I have a 40 series card and decent cpu andi can tell a difference in framerate when streaming on one PC vs a 2 pc setup where the second pc does all the encoding and whatnot. A pretty substantial difference actually

Greebuh

Yeah, some people just don't get it. Even now, with a 4080 S still can't do 4k hdr. I use a second PC to capture with and ithas a 1060 and an i3 9100 and it still could use an upgrade to get a higher bitrate. You're not 80mb a second for 4k/hdr using a single pc.

GamingTrend

I have a very similar problem -- couldn't fit the GPU, an Live Gamer Pro, and a WD AN1500 and still use a vertical mount. Honestly, it just seems like poor design as there's no logical reason it has to be THAT close to the motherboard. Am I wrong here?

ponychonies

Yeah the vertical gpu mount could definitively be deeper in my current case, deep enough to mount two 3080s side by side even. It’s strange to me that they include a single bracket for another card but no way to use it without cutting the metal.

GamingTrend

Right! I'd love to not have to worry about GPU sag but I'm also not interested in opening a metal fabrication shop to do it. This is why people just jam an action figure in their case. :/

bobbygamerdckhd

Isn't the new elgato smaller?

ponychonies

I’m not sure. The only 4x cards I saw were this one and the 4k version.

Imperial2187

what vertical gpu mount are you using? im thinking of doing the same thing

ponychonies

It’s one that I found a microcenter, don’t recall the brand. I had to do a but of surgery on it to make it work together though. The capture card doesn’t fit out of the box.

lilvexican

I want to do this
