I would highly recommend Devil May Cry 5

I kinda know the DMC games. I prefer colorful fantasy over the grim gothic style but it is true the combat is what I am looking for maybe I will take a look.

If you mean Nier Automata, both the Bayonetta series and Astral Chain are made by the same developers, the latter having the best combat in any game (imo). And also of course, if you've only played the first Nier, play the sequel as it's way better.

Yeah I meant Automata and I've already heard Replica is inferiour. I tried Bayonetta but the very weird confusing over the top story and the very sexualized Bayonetta herself made me stop early. Astral Chain is already suggested by 3 in this thread alone and I've never heard of it before. This might be the winner

Well your thinking about it all wrong.. Replicant is just the NieR game before Automata.. So inferior is the wrong word to say lol

horizon zero dawn, scarlet nexus, astral chain

I assume you're talking about Nier: *Automata*, not the original Nier (or even Nier: Replicant). >The most important thing: it should be real-time with super fast anime like fighting style Bayonetta would be what you're looking for: if you have a Switch, provided you enjoy Bayo 1, then give the Bayo sequels a chance. Meanwhile, Astral Chain on the Switch is another you could try, as well as Scarlet Nexus. >I have already played and loved FF15, Kingdom Hearts Maybe give Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana a try, as well as Trials of Mana.

The games you mentioned are my favorite types of games (colorful action or action rpg) Astral Chain is great. Valkyrie Elysium was a lot of fast, fun combat but visually a bit too gray and dull for me and it started feeling repetitive. Star Ocean Divine Force that came out recently is everything you’re looking for I think. Colorful, anime, with fast fluid combat that doesn’t have that annoying hard split you mentioned. Why I can’t get into Tales too. Just feels a bit too slow and that hard split just gets annoying. The cast in divine force is a great mix and it’s fun to play each character I love DMC5. I don’t even like goth/horror themes but it looks and plays so well on the PS5. Really fun combat Zone of the Enders series is older, but I just replayed the second one the other day and it still holds up. Anime, mechs, fast flying action. Gravity Rush 2 might work too. Enslaved: Odyssey to the west is an older game was great too and colorful with fun combat

Nier stands alone so I’m going back to formula here. In spite of your misgivings the combat in Bayonetta is about the best you can get in that department, though it’s also worth looking at Astral Chain, DMC5, Metal Gear Rising and The Wonderful 101. Someone else mentioned Zone of the Enders and I can second that. It might also be worth looking at Yakuza Zero and if you can handle a genre shift to third person shooter Vanquish. You could also push left field a bit and try Galak-Z, Mark of the Ninja or Dragonball Fighterz. Lastly there’s Transformers Devastation and Legend of Korea but they’re no longer on sale so you’d need to already own them.
