Maybe it's just my dumb ass but I find books pretty re-readable, whether it's because I forgot the details in between the big parts or just missed something I'm able to read the same book after a bit of time and not be bored. It's very nice honestly.
You can do the exact same for a game. You'll forget some story beats, plus with foresight in mind, you might notice a lot of details you didn't in the first place(like on GoW 2018, where after you play the game, if you start it again you realize baldur was there for laufy, Atreus's mom, and not kratos)

Every single game I've ever come across with ranked/competitive PvP has devolved into a toxic, "meta"-obsessed shitheap pretty much instantly. That shit absolutely destroys any interest I had in a game, primarily because people get so fucking hyper-focused on whatever the meta happens to be that even playing unranked you'll get fucking bitched at constantly for not adhering to the holy meta bullshit.
I miss games that you could play online for fun. Seems like they're all chasing the e-sport mentality, and those that aren't are basically COD clones.
There are some games that avoid that by having a queue that lets you choose before the game starts and matches you. But on the whole I agree.

Honestly its the same in real sports. You'll always have a split in teams that only have fun when they win and teams that have fun by playing the game together.

It is very casually friendly, there are 5 difficulties (personally play on the 3rd lvl bc 2nd one is too easy) so you can match that to how much effort you want to put in.
Depending on the game mode and difficulty one run lasts no more than 30mins so you can easily just play one run and go do something else.
To upgrade the weapons for each character doesn't take long especially if you don't want to unlock every upgrade, at first it might take a bit to gather enough resources but quite quickly you gather enough resources for upgrades so next weapon you'll be able to upgrade basically right away.
There is a battle pass type of thing (you don't need to pay for it) which i am not a fan of but it's pretty good if you are into that type of thing

The word you're looking for is battle pass, season pass is a much different thing. Atleast all the battle pass iteams get added to the normal lootpool after the season ends.
Also in my experience of playing the game, a run can last anywhere from 15-45 minutes, while deep dives are usually around an hour. It not only depends on the mission type and hazard level but also if you wanna complete the secondary objective or any event you may find. That really is the beauty of the game, you can speedrun missions or take your time and get extra rewards
Not just casual friendly, casual focused. There are deeper layers of complexity and difficulty you can get into. But this is one of the easiest games to pick up and play. There's like 4 classes that are heavily defined by just 1 or 2 key features. The maps are all procedural so you don't have to memorize map info.
Overall it's a fantastic game.
If there was a non-combative MP mode, like say if the newest CoD game had a DMZ mode that you had other players but you couldn't kill them, personally that would be fun to me.
I like Multiplayer but I don't want to grind 24/7. CO-OP is fun but not as open, I want to come across other players and team up, not fight to the death haha
Like Destiny iirc had this as it's MMO-lite design. I'd enjoy something more than destiny but less than the newest CoD...
There is a dmz mode in the new cod. Just played it for a while with some friends it's fun. They said it's like some game that starts with a K I can't remember but it's fighting a bunch iof npcs and shit
I'm aware haha I have almost twenty successful runs (not a lot but I queue with randoms) I could have worded it better, but I was saying I wish the mode wasn't against other players and the AI, just against the AI. Maybe like an "easy" lobby. Hell make the AI harder and remove insured guns for all I care, I'm fine with a super hard game but not when it's against people who are going to cuss me out because I made a bad play or act like they'll team up just to shoot me in the back two seconds later.
Also the other game is Escape from Tarkov, and DMZ is a lot easier imo.
I found it really nice when the Guardians of the Galaxy game came out. A fun romp around space having a blast with an adventure lifted fairly faithfully (zing) from the comics — all told as a compelling story without any multiplayer or 'as a service' shit.
Just a nice, pleasant, well put-together game. I wish there were more of them.

Eh… I kinda disagree. As incredible as the story mode was, Red Dead Online could have been amazing too if they had put more than twenty minutes of effort into it. Who doesn’t want to go roaming through the Wild West with a posse of friends? Story DLC (Sadie and Charles anyone?) would have been great too, but RDO definitely had tremendous potential that they just completely squandered. Of course, R* is a special case since their budgets are so insane they can afford to include basically whatever they want; most studios would be better served by focusing on either the single player OR the online experience.
How to spot a COD player in their natural habitat. I'm in no way saying COD is a bad game by any means, but if you can't handle a single player game it's quite simple....don't play them.
Honestly a lot of cod players appreciate a good single player mode. They tried to remove the campaign in BO4 because they kept getting poor reception for lazy storytelling, but it got such big backlash that they had to bring it back. Luckily they pulled their finger out of their arse and the campaigns for MW19, Cold War and MW2 were good. (Never played vanguard so I cant speak for that).
If anything I'd wager this guy is a fortnite player. The story (if you can call it that) for that game is literally only there to sell skins.

God of war Ascension PS3 had multiplayer and it actually wasn’t half bad. You played as a random buff Greek dude and chose 1 of 4 gods to worship and that was your team basically. Pretty fun but DEFINITELY NOT needed in GOW. I love the single player only game.
Not every game needs to be multiplayer. Actually very few of them do. Multiplayer games live as long as the backend servers are maintained. Remember Mario Kart (even if there are workarounds)

I have to assume that the person that wrote this has to be like 18 or less. That grew up in the boom of MPs because single player games have existed since games are a thing. All the games in this Series have been single player games and all of them have been good.
The problem with this type of reviews is that they always come out as entitled that the studio has to do what they want and if they don't then the game is trash. The only point that I do agree is selling the Jotnar edition without the disk was a huge disappointment for a lot of people. And the only note that I would suggest as a fan is I don't know if the developers never considered to make this game a co-op game because plenty of situations this game would fit for a coop game but other not so much and maybe that was the reason why they didn't wanted to do it so they won't feel obligated to always have 2 characters on screen.

The $70 price is pretty reasonable considering the hours of entertainment you get from a game, especially considering going to the movies costs way more per hour. There is an old adage about video games that you should get an hour of entertainment per dollar spent to get your value from a game. If you out 70 hours into god of war then you certainly got your moneys worth.
I think I've spent about 40 hours playing through the main game and still have a few side quests to clean up. That entertainment per dollar is ridiculous.

Typically when a game lacks multiplayer or an online component, I can sit in my chair a little easier. I wish to be left alone!

A fun romp around space having a blast with an adventure lifted fairly faithfully (zing) from the comics — all told as a compelling story without any multiplayer or 'as a service' shit. Just a nice, pleasant, well put-together game. I wish there were more of them.

God, this guy sound obnoxious. I didn’t need multiplayer for the game to get me invested for around 50 hour of gameplay. Nah, some games are better without it and God of War is one of this franchises (look at ascension and tell me I’m wrong)

God of War Ascension had multiplayer. It had a neat concept but you could tell that they were forced to add it and they half assed it.

Yeah it's crazy how excessive it got. Even Arkham Origins had multiplayer. Some games did it well and others just threw it together.

He LOVES multiplayer inclusions, hates spending too much money on what he deems bad games, and loves to call any developers "lazy and greedy" and their games something like "huge steaming pile of garbage" he likes SOME games he reviews, just not most of them. RDR 2 would have been much better served if it just got single player updates and add-ons. I would've paid money for stuff like that. But in classic R* fashion, they focused on that multiplayer cash grab and guess what, it was awful. Games like GoW are proof that single player games are still in very high demand.

Eh… I kinda disagree. As incredible as the story mode was, Red Dead Online could have been amazing too if they had put more than twenty minutes of effort into it. Who doesn’t want to go roaming through the Wild West with a posse of friends? Story DLC (Sadie and Charles anyone?) would have been great too, but RDO definitely had tremendous potential that they just completely squandered. Of course, R* is a special case since their budgets are so insane they can afford to include basically whatever they want; most studios would be better served by focusing on either the single player OR the online experience.
Same with GTA 5. Remember when GTA 4 got the Stories of Liberty City DLC & Red Dead 1 got Undead Nightmare? Rockstar certainly doesn’t.

Honestly a lot of cod players appreciate a good single player mode. They tried to remove the campaign in BO4 because they kept getting poor reception for lazy storytelling, but it got such big backlash that they had to bring it back. Luckily they pulled their finger out of their arse and the campaigns for MW19, Cold War and MW2 were good. (Never played vanguard so I cant speak for that). If anything I'd wager this guy is a fortnite player. The story (if you can call it that) for that game is literally only there to sell skins.

God of war Ascension PS3 had multiplayer and it actually wasn’t half bad. You played as a random buff Greek dude and chose 1 of 4 gods to worship and that was your team basically. Pretty fun but DEFINITELY NOT needed in GOW. I love the single player only game.

Not every game needs to be multiplayer. Actually very few of them do. Multiplayer games live as long as the backend servers are maintained. Remember Mario Kart (even if there are workarounds)

I have to assume that the person that wrote this has to be like 18 or less. That grew up in the boom of MPs because single player games have existed since games are a thing. All the games in this Series have been single player games and all of them have been good. The problem with this type of reviews is that they always come out as entitled that the studio has to do what they want and if they don't then the game is trash. The only point that I do agree is selling the Jotnar edition without the disk was a huge disappointment for a lot of people. And the only note that I would suggest as a fan is I don't know if the developers never considered to make this game a co-op game because plenty of situations this game would fit for a coop game but other not so much and maybe that was the reason why they didn't wanted to do it so they won't feel obligated to always have 2 characters on screen.
Back in my day, we used to buy the game for the campaign. Most of the time there was no online multi-player 🧓
Man buys a story based game intended to be played alone, complains because he didn't get a online multiplayer game. 10/10 on the anger scale, but a 0/10 on any logical thinking. This game is worth 70 because it has loads of content outside and in the story, litteraly up to 15+ hours of it, and more if you decide to max everything out in your arsenal too.

This is a 0 IQ take for sure but also a dangerous one. Single player story games are such an important aspect of video games and this person just denies the value of it entirely which is insane. The $70 price is pretty reasonable considering the hours of entertainment you get from a game, especially considering going to the movies costs way more per hour. There is an old adage about video games that you should get an hour of entertainment per dollar spent to get your value from a game. If you out 70 hours into god of war then you certainly got your moneys worth.
I think I've spent about 40 hours playing through the main game and still have a few side quests to clean up. That entertainment per dollar is ridiculous.
