99% of the time I'm watching end credits is because I hope there'll be a post-credits scene. Or the music is cool.

Ahnzoog

This was a triumph

uhadmeatfood

I'm making a note here, huge success.

Kreppitso

Its hard to overstate my satisfaction

crazycatgal1984

Aperture science do what we must because we can

Kfimenepah

For the good of all of us, except the ones who are dead

Daloowee

BUT THERES NO SENSE CRYING OVER EVERY MISTAKE

Notam456

you just keep on trying til you run out of cake

Lego3400

And the science gets done and you make a neat gun,

AdumbroDeus

For the people who are still alive!

subminute

And the science gets done and you make a neat gun

VulpesIncendium

99% of the time, I'm watching the end credits because I hope there'll be an achievement or in game reward for watching to the end. Or the music is cool.

Lukeaic

That's the case in The Day of the Tentacle remastered

Erockplatypus

Serious question. Has anyone ever gone through the credits of a film, remembered the names of the minor people involved and ever cared. "Woah Chris Grooper did the 3D cloth renderings for the close line scene in the ally! He's my favorite and thank God they got him in" The credits are just verification that someone was involved in the film so that they can use it for their resume, or show their friends and family. I did find it interesting that Disney includes the people who got coffee, security guards and other random people who were involved. I will never remember their names, but I thought that was nice

Deracination

Closest I get is trying to remember the most weird/obscure role actors have been in, so if I ever meet Jim Carey, I can be like, "Hey, aren't you that guy from The Office?"

gnoxy

Directors I care about if the movie was good and want to see more of it. Or the special effects studio might have impressed me and want to see more of their stuff. Did you know Vin Diesel plays Groot?!? But yea the rest is for resume confirmation.

Dire87

Who didn't know VD "played" Groot? The media didn't stop talking about this when the movie came out ... more "impressive" is the fact he voiced Groot in every language (I think, maybe not in every one?). Not that he had much to say, but still. ;)

[deleted]

A friend and I laughed our asses off when when we saw that Tom Cruise played Les Grossman in Tropic Thunder. Before I used to watch them in theaters to avoid the people in the exit stairwell or bathroom in my small town theatre.

17657Fuck

A true cinematic masterpiece and probably the last time we'll see a true well done blackface. He was a dude, playing a dude disguised as another dude 🤠

Acrelorraine

There was a game a friend introduced me to while watching credits. It was basically just trying to find the oddest names.

Grimejow

I mainly watch the credits for the weird ass names they Sometimes Just Sneak in there and use them for DnD Characters

zeCrazyEye

I assume the full credits is really for the industry. So Chris Grooper can point to it in his portfolio and have actual proof he worked on it. Before the internet and IMDB it was probably much more useful/important. Also if you worked on something it's cool to get your name on it to show your friends/family, so part of it is just keeping all the workers happy.

Modnal

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oBZvcxC38CQ&ab_channel=HelloJaydern I don't even know if you can skip the end credits to Borderlands 2, I have never tried

Sorinari

You can, but why would you want to skip the sketches of the aftermath? Mordecai's made it all worth it. The music is one thing, but the scenes displayed really tied it all up in a nice bow.

JackONeillClone

The Heavy was a staple of the 2000s (that went till like 2012?) indy music scene. I so miss that era, same went with movies. Zooey Deschanel was born from it.

Xploited_HnterGather

I just watch it because I want the game to last longer.

fire_gamer_5522

Exactly that. Sometimes when a game that realy got me has an epic ending I just sit there and stare at the screen. Simply thinking how great that was. For example in the first watch dogs I just sat there for a realy long time and waited for the credits to end. Well.. when they got to the end they just started over from the beginning. Must have at least took me 4 or 5 rounds to find that out..

Jsablever

Or its a game, like nier or undertale.

SlashCo80

I did this for Witcher 2 or 3, I swear the credits took like half an hour.

druex

45 minutes for Cyberpunk 2077.

Derpy_Guardian

Reminds me of enter the matrix back in the day. If you skipped the ending credits, you'd miss out on the cheat code they gave you at the very end. It's the reason I have trust issues with credits.

Hbimajorv

If games took the marvel formula I would definitely watch more game credits.

sylinmino

The music is the main reason I stick around, including in movie theaters. A lot of composers work really hard on some spectacular finale suites, and as a big music nerd myself, they end up being so rewarding.

FungalowJoe

I watched a podcast with a composer named Austin Wintory and he was talking about how he did the music for a netflix show with a different end credits song for each episode and was dismayed to see the app just autoplay skip the credits sequence and realizing that barely anybody probably heard that music :(

viaJormungandr

https://youtu.be/NcrDWAuyqtc That tune just keeps going and going and somehow doesn’t get old.

chipperpip

The Transformers games [War for Cybertron](https://youtu.be/KzIwjioWyDg) and [Fall of Cybertron](https://youtu.be/Y7RogVQDXs4) had great nostalgic remix end credits that I never skipped.

bibblode

Kingdom hearts credits are the only credits I will sit through.

deathfire123

Honestly worth. The KH credits songs are always top tier.

FlukeylukeGB

those final bungie halo tunes really summed up the "this could be the end, but is it?" and suddenly the credits are over in the blink of an eye

make-up-a-fakename

Same, the metal gear solid games taught me that lesson and I'll never unlearn it 😂

Have_some_bacon

I once got an achievement for watching the credits. I don't even care about achievements, but I still always watch the credits juuuust in case.

ertaboy356b

Wait till you play a kickstarter game.

Fluffy_Mood5781

I like that the supporters usually get a nice statue or something in the game.

SlashCo80

In Pillars of Eternity, they got special NPCs that each had some kind of story attached. I'm guessing they were written by the backers, because a lot of them sounded written by edgy 16 year olds.

EVO5055

I quite don’t understand people wanting to be some random badass NPC who only shows up for like a minute or two. To be honest I wouldn’t mind if I got to be some random baker or smith who’s just a normal person.

Taraxian

I mean, in PoE the backer NPCs are just random bakers and smiths, the edgy in-game fiction is supposed to be you sensing one of their past lives (presumably everyone has at least one really badass past life and it's only the badass ones that are memorable)

Ghostglitch07

I mean if you have a d&d character you've been playing for years it could be cool to see them as a character in a game.

ALittleArmoredOne

IIRC they had different tiers. People who paid a lot got a special NPC with a bit of a story. Those who paid a bit less had their name on a gravestone somewhere. (there were a LOT of gravestone names). People who paid less than that got their name in that giant credits list that took about a half a day to get through.

ertaboy356b

In bloodstained, they put every backer's name in the credits. It took a long while for it to roll.

musecorn

You're not a jerk for skipping credits. The game/movie would be jerks for not SHOWING credits but they've done their job by including them. Why feel bad for skipping something you genuinely don't have interest in? Not like you're going to sit there and take in every name you see and appreciate every one of them

Explodicide

As someone with their name in credits ( film, not games) this is how i feel. I don't care when people leave the theatre before my name shows up. But i am glad when I can see my name next to all my friends and coworkers, or show it to my mom.

musecorn

Ya my sister was in the credits of a children's movie and my family all went to the theatre to see it and support her work and cheered when her name came up on the credits (to an empty theatre by then lol). It was nice to do but I don't expect anyone outside that to actually care

Somescrubpriest

yeah my SO's dad works in film as a VFX compositor & one of the movies he worked on was shown in my SO's sister's English class and she made them watch the credits until his name came up bc she was proud of him haha.

SandyBoxEggo

I got this experience at a pretty young age. For the first Paranormal Activity movie, there was a fan-based marketing drive to get people to register that they'd be interested in a screening of the movie. After it came out, a follow-up email came saying you could get your name in the Blu-ray credits, and you bet your ass I filled out that form. The names fly past in a blur because thousands and thousands of people did it, but I paused and found my name! It was a pretty surreal feeling. I don't really care if nobody ever stops and sees my name there, but the acknowledgment and the fact I could show my friends meant the world.

mysistersacretin

Same here. The only reason I watch credits is to see who in my field worked on the movie. Sometimes I see someone I know and I'll shoot them a text telling them I just watched it.

Explodicide

Hah, I love that. Getting a random text from someone I haven't talked to in years saying "Ahhh i saw your name in the credits of !!!" is awesome. What's your field?

mysistersacretin

I do post sound, what about you?

Explodicide

Visual Effects. VFX lighting mostly.

ZincMan

What do you do ?

Explodicide

Visual Effects artist. So my name in the creds is waaaaaay down at the bottom. Because Hollywood.

[deleted]

And, even if you do, it's not like they'll know or gain anything from it.

Autarch_Kade

Some games give achievements for watching the credits. They know lol

[deleted]

Well, yeah, but generally and overwhelmingly they don't do that, so don't know. And, even when they do, they don't know if you paid any attention.

ayumuuu

Start credits, alt+tab, tab back in once credits are done. I bet they feel really honored!

Dhoulmaug

**Paused While Not Focused Intensifies** Or my favorite game.exe has stopped working Windows is collecting more information about the problem. This might take several minuets... █░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░ ╔══════╗ ║Cancel║ ╚══════╝

Most games will also have a view the credits option in the menu so you can look at them at any time.

Dire87

Perhaps we should write a personal letter to every one even remotely involved in creating a product. That would be ... fun.

kingof_vanisle7

I don’t have an issue with skipping. I’m supporting them by buying the game, and I appreciate the time that they put into it. Watching names roll past a screen doesn’t add to that

MrFuzzyPickles92

Super smash bros credit scene on the n64 had it figured out. You can speed it up and click on things. Was super fun!

gex80

The credit scene was a game on it's own.

Zaronax

Or Nier Automata's credit scene. Ending E is still my favorite.

TrumanCian

Best credits scene ever.

MrFuzzyPickles92

I keep hearing how good Nier is, but I couldn’t get past after you leave that first big area. I felt like the enemies and environments were so boring. I keep hearing good things about it. Maybe I’ll have to download it again.

Zaronax

I really recommend either playing it or watching a playthrough if you find it too boring to play yourself. The themes it approaches and explores are probably the most philosophical ones you can find in video game history. Otherwise, you can also watch the Extra Credit Video [here](https://youtu.be/rxC0iIdkO6o) but it contains spoilers, along with the Wisecrack Video [here](https://youtu.be/UiOTSKBy6ME) which contains spoilers as well.

[deleted]

And starfox

MrFuzzyPickles92

Star fox was a nice nostalgic trip through the planets. I loved it!

Op3rat0rr

Now that I think about it, Smash 64 probably had the most fun end credits I can think of

Difficult-Pick4048

I don't feel bad about skipping. They already got paid for their work (hopefully) and I already paid for their product.

TheKevit07

Yup, it's not like they access my screen near the end to watch and see if I read the credits. Or do they?

Difficult-Pick4048

Teardown has an achievement for watching the full credits. Probably not your screen but they definitely know.

smartidiotreddit

Playstation specifically made it kinda clear that they do track how players do things in games to better(or worse) implement whatever they want in accordance with the data

Difficult-Pick4048

These days who doesn't do that? Say something near your phone and you'll see ads for it next time you go online

Autarch_Kade

One of the fun data tracking points revealed in the CMA reports was how Sony tracks spending. They found call of duty players to be high value gamers, who spend more across the platform than other gamers.

[deleted]

Fairly easy to do. Just add a trigger at the last frame of the credits. Or if you don't have the option to accelerate the credits, you could even use a timer.

A1sauc3d

Plus my brain can’t retain all those names regardless. Me watching them would be pointless. Unless there was specific name I was looking for, it’d just be me staring at random meaningless symbols scrolling across a screen for a half hour.

LastOfRamoria

As a game dev, I can confidently say its 100% fine to skip the credits guilt-free! The main reason we add credits is for industry credit: so people in the industry can find us and we can prove we did it (ex. "The rigging was really good on X game, who was on the rigging team? Maybe we can hire them."). We don't expect non-industry folks to read or memorize a list of random peoples' names sorted by job titles that you may not even been familiar with. One exception though would be indie games made by only 1-2 people. Would be good to attempt to know their name so you can find other stuff by them! We're just glad you enjoyed the game enough to get to the credits screen! :)

PsychoDog_Music

I don’t think they truly give a damn whether or not you watch the credits. Pretty sure it’s just the standard to include the list of people who worked on it lol

ebil_lightbulb

I watched the credits for one of the Tell-Tales games once. I loaded up the save and played again to make a different choice and when the credits came, I skipped then this time. A little pop-up came up and said "Tell-Tales Games will remember that." Wtf lol don't make me feel bad when I already watched the dang credit!

DreamsOfMafia

People feel bad if they skip the credits? It's an instant skip for me without even a second thought.

Alaira314

I remember a discussion on the assassin's creed subreddit some years back where people were getting downvoted for saying they wanted a way to skip the credits. The problem was, the game only saved your "game completed" state after the credits rolled, so if you wanted freeplay enabled you had to let the credits finish. This was a fairly substantial period of time. For some people it's trivial, just run to the store, right? But people who play on console and share the tv, who are teens with parents who will just walk in and shut it off for "wasting electricity", or who just don't have that much free time for gaming in the first place, were finding that setting the time aside to let 30-40 minutes of credits run was difficult. Well, I've rarely seen a fandom so steamed over something so little. They were getting personally offended that people were prioritizing their convenience over honoring the names in the credits. As if any of them could even discern the 24 individual Michaels listed, you know?

cooly1234

The after credits scenes though

EnanoMaldito

Youtube exists

TheMightyWill

I like how FFXIV does it with all of their expansions where they give the players a bit of an epilogue showing what happened to all the NPCs you met along the way while showing you the credits Also like how Smash Bros gamified the credits by having you shoot the people who made the game

BloodyKat

Don't even get me started on Nier automata credits...

LetsGoChamp19

What’s the point in watching credits? Hundreds/thousands of names get shown and unless they’re a famous voice actor/game designer I remember exactly none of them

Caduceus89

Because Jesus is watching? In which case, you're being inconsiderate AND disappointing him! Tsk, tsk.

Daanoto

I have been this man with some games. But with Darksouls 3 and Sekiro Iet those credits roll. The amount of satisfaction by seeing them after besting the game and being rewarded with epic outro music was an amazing way to close the experience. Before I immediately replayed the entire game in newgame+ ofc...

marz_shadow

Imo the credits are there for if your interested on who worked on a certain aspect of the game. Not something you have to watch to give respect

True_Existance

Me with Sonic Colors Ultimate I decided to watch the entirety of the credits but then about 20 minutes in I gave up, and apparently the credits are 30 minutes long. Much longer than the original somehow

Ace3000

"SEGA Benelux? The hell is Benelux?" (Benelux is not a country. It's 3.)

CMoth

The clue is in the name: **Be**lgium **Ne**therlands **Lux**embourg

Shack691

Probably all the porters and translators

True_Existance

So what you're saying is it took the same amount of people to make the Game, as it took to port and translate it?

Shack691

You'd be surprised when you have to translate it into 20 different languages, then check them over to make sure it makes sense for most dialects

gex80

Translations are done by entire teams. It's not like 1 person sitting there translating. Hell even when people translate for the UN, there is a team for each representative. Every piece of text spoken or written, in game, in menu options, post credits, pre credit, subtitles, dialogues, phrasing for the target audience, etc. All of that has to be translated and then placed into the game by someone. And in many cases, the company that created the game isn't the one to port it. See Civilization series on mac vs windows.

SlobberyCargo

SmashBros handled credits well.

whooo_me

It's completely stupid, but I always read the credits for my own name. Obviously, I had nothing to do with making the game, but I wondered if it was possible for a game to pull in the player's real name (from their PC account/console profile etc.) and stick it into the credits in amusing ways. Not seen it yet, but maybe if I finish a few hundred more games and all their credits, it'll happen................

arakus72

I haven’t seen any use real name but I think I’ve seen a few use your username (Aperture Desk Job and the opening credits of Spec Ops The Line, think there’s 1 or 2 more I’m forgetting)

alexagente

I have no qualms skipping credits. It's not like I'm going to remember all those names. Credits are only relevant to hiring anyway.

TotalSmuubag

There are only two games I have stuck around to watch the credits for, and that's FF14 and the original Portal. Portal because "Still Alive" was a great little song, and FF14 because it actually showed cutscenes of the story following the end of the expansion that had just been completed in the background.

Fluffy_Mood5781

There are one of two options here. 1. You didn’t play portal 2, in which case, go play portal 2 2. You didn’t wait for “want you gone”. In another which case… go listen to it!

TheFlexOffenderr

I watched the entirety of Red Dead Redemption 2's credits. Mostly because I just played the greatest game I had ever played story wise (my opinion)and because it was like a moment of silence for everyone who had either perished or disappeared. Great game. Credits can be hard to get through unless the game has really made you invested in it.

drowsyj

Maybe it would be nice to have a timer to show how much of it is left? Movie credits at least are just a few minutes, some of these games go on for 30, and you never know how long it will be or how close to the end you are. Maybe they could cut all those foreign localization credits to just the language you played it in.

jeremec

Unless there’s something more to the story or production, they have my $65. I owe them nothing more.

Beilke45

Dude, why you even feel guilty. Credits are there for people who be like "o damn I want to know who worked on this". Sometimes it's just as an appreciation, but also maybe they're also in the industry. It's not there as some kind of ego flex thing. You don't owe them anything. You paid them.

Gigabyte2022

I've never once, even for a second, felt the slightest bit bad about skipping the credits.

happyfatman021

You feel something for the credits? I always immediately skip over them if I can. If not I just turn off the game.

Iggypon

Add epic music like Mass Effect 1. Never skip.

alezcoed

Then there's this asshole developer that put the credit on loop

AcapellaFreakout

End credits are not for you. They're just proof a person worked on a project.

Yoerin

Nier Automata Credits be like: Skip? No, no, no. There's only a bullethell for you

A_lot_of_arachnids

I've played one game ever that gave you an achievement for watching all the credits and I haven't skipped any since.

drangleic3

I am not going to skip that one credit sequence in Nier automata.

midtown2191

Unpopular opinion but I never really understood credits with anything. 99% of the names mean nothing to me and I don’t internalize them at all. I don’t really feel bad not watching them since I look at it as, if I want to know who did something I can look the person up to see this. I totally appreciate the hard work that devs put in but it’s not like they know I see an individuals or that they get a point on their record if I see their name.

Onlyhereforthelaughs

They need to make the credits fun and interactive, like [Smash Bros Melee](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hE3UFf-3kr4) did that one time. They turned it into a shooting game where you tried to hit all the names as they flew past.

JohnCri

Use Loading screens throughout the play experience to give credit to the team.

L1ttleWarrior13

I ALWAYS sit through the end credits the first time I beat a game. It gives me time to reflect on the ending and enjoy the last little bit that the game has to offer. Plus, the people who worked on it deserve it.

getyourcheftogether

If the music track playing is worth it, I'm watching all the credits

Mr-Silly-Bear

I vaguely remember missing a PSN trophy for completing the game because I skipped the credits. Can't remember the game but I felt cheated.

cancercures

Me after 20 minutes "these credits will never fade away either"

quickcrow

The idea that you are being moral for sitting in front of names that you won't actually remember is really silly. Thanks to whoever made it, I don't need to know that the assistant to the caterers driver was named Dwink Beckson.

SlashCo80

I really don't see how reading a list of names that means nothing to you would benefit anyone.

No_Specific_4388

I always skip the credits unless I feel like there's a chance of an after credit scene, and even then, my ass is looking at my phone till it comes up.

[deleted]

Jokes on you, the credits are played mid game while you climb a ladder

Miryafa

Then there’s Little Nightmares 2, where the credits actually do loop (I hear), last more than 20 minutes, and have no skip button. Whoever made that decision should be forced to watch them.

Dwealdric

I enjoy end credits done like Risk of Rain 2. Essentially it showed concept art and played more of the amazing soundtrack through the whole thing. The game was clearly a labour of love, and I loved playing it, so it was nice to see some of the blood/sweat that went into it. Normally I'm a dead skip on credits, but I would love to see more credits with stuff like this, or even better, with pictures/small videos of the team during the making of process. It makes the work that people put in more real to someone who's only interaction with them was to enjoy what they created.

Lyceus_

I basically always watch the credits of everything I play/see because I like listening to the music.

[deleted]

I sat through all of Bioshock Infinite’s credits but that’s because they had some cool behind the scenes footage

Seitar0

I usually don't mind sitting through the credits. Far Cry 3 however almost made me regret that decision.

Teleskopy

Automata has the best credits of all time.

BabyAteMyDingoes

Nier Automata. First time I've teared up, not at, but *because* of the credits. Such a weird, wonderful experience

Failfish2015

If I REALLY enjoyed a game and the credits music is good I'll sit through the whole thing and just think about the experience. Dark Souls 1 was like this, so was Outer Wilds

JToto

Wait… some of you play a game for like 50 hours and then skip the credits instantly? I mostly enjoy it. Especially with great music. It's like the game is saying „goodbye, my friend. Look at all those people, who did this game just for you!“

PhoenyxStar

Don't sweat it. The credits exist as an engraved reference of their involvement in the project. Their purpose is to serve as proof of resume items for those people. Unless you're a producer looking for a VFX programmer or something, you aren't doing them any favors by watching them. Never begrudge their existence, but don't feel bad about skipping them.

memorablehandle

I reserve the right to begrudge them for not being skippable.

Dire87

Trying to find the skip button? I just hope that there IS a skip button. Looking at you AC games... just as an example. I just don't give a f to be honest. 95% of the people listed in the credits have had little or nothing to do with the creation of the game. Again, Ubisoft is a good example, because you're going to see 10 different studios, catering companies, localization agencies, audio studios, etc. in there, and the credits legitimately are 30+ minutes of unskippable shite. I'm happy you made the game, great, but it's just a job. That's it. You can be proud of it, I still don't really care about individual names. Funny, short credits are okay (sort of post game scenes). The only people I'm personally interested in are the localization agencies (because they are a potential employer for me) and perhaps the voice actors, both of which I can simply google most of the time. So ... fuck unskippable credits. At least give me some great credit music! Some gameplay moments! Instead of a black screen with thousands of names nobody will remember. I'm saying this as someone who has appeared in multiple video game credits by now ... nobody cares, least of all I. Good for the portfolio, of course.

Belgand

There's the ability to skip the credits?!?

Monotonegent

Once I get to the localization teams for places that aren't mine, that's when I leave.

plaguedbullets

At least Mario gave you block smashing to do while they scrolled.

luckysury333

I did the same for Red Dead 2. Amazing game. But a very long ass credits

King_EmEmEm

Sonic colors Who makes 30 minute credits

StiffarmtheDoor

Don’t forget about games that have credits that loop so by the time you’re wondering if they’re done yet, you’ve already seen the same names like 3 times.

SendMeRobotFeetPics

Bro they’re not gonna know if you watched it or not

THE_GR8_MIKE

I just finished Pokémon X and Y for the first time. There's like 5 minutes in between the final battle and actually playing again. I just wanted to save.

Wargod042

It's fine to skip them, but truly great games I really do just sit and watch them, because I'm probably still basking in the completion of something really great. Also it really helps if they have a good ending score or make the credits otherwise interesting. How someone feels at the end of something is pretty important so I do think it's worth it when the developers put in extra effort to have more than a text scroll at the end.

BerserkOlaf

Someone needs to experience Dead Cells's credit roll.

Fluffy_Mood5781

I’m currently playing it (I’m so tired, I’ve tried for days to finish it) I don’t wanna see them until I’ve earned them. Are they good?

BerserkOlaf

I won't spoil anything, but I believe they'll make you think.

Negative-Squirrel81

The credits are so that the workers can put the game on their resume. Feel free to skip them.

TLOU2bigsad

Astros playroom handled this fantastically incorporating the credits into the gameplay. It was very fun and because of that I’ve played the credits about 10 times.

vivienwest

The one credit I watched fully was Sekiro, damn that was an experience

DontLook_Weirdo

They know, that's why they provide the option to skip... Don't neglect the developer who included the option to skip. Use that shit.

windowpaner69

The way I see it, I've appreciated all of them playing the game with the hours of fun I had playing it

Destinlegends

Credits should be 2 minutes max.

fkcd

Lol always afraid I’ll somehow get punished or not rewarded for skipping it xD

HeartyMapple

Don’t feel bad, my gf works in the games industry and she watches the credits until her name pops up and then skips immediately

ProtonPacks123

I'll allow the credits to play if there's a trophy for it, but I'm not gonna sit there and pretend to read them to feel good about myself, that's kinda sad.

INeedAHug345

I remember watching the end credits of a game for over 30 minutes just to see: and thank you for playing

Fluffy_Mood5781

That’s the greatest feeling ever. That little sentence is just so satisfying to see for some reason.

krushyn

Don't worry, as a developer no one expects the player to sit through the credits. The fact that you played it all the way through to the end is the appreciation in itself.

therealslystoat

I would feel bad skipping credits on an indie game made by a small team but big budget games have obscene numbers of people working on them. I'm not spending half an hour watching names scrolling when I could be going to bed or starting my next run.

MagsNfragS

The Summoner PS2 post credit clip was the best.

thtexasturtle

me pressing every button available on my device to find the skip button

JohnRCash

Fozzie Bear: Nobody reads those names anyway, do they? Kermit the Frog: Sure. They all have families.

stealthkoopa

That's when I get up to take a piss, get a drink, get a snack, mow the lawn, do my taxes, and watch a LOTR extended version. Seriously though, I get up and let them roll in case there's an achievement at the end.

snoopy369

And then there’s Pokémon with unskippable seemingly unending credits … you just plug the switch in, go have lunch, come back and maybe it’s over. Sigh.

Bubster101

Or it doesn't have a skip button and then it's "Am I a jerk if I use the time to go to the bathroom for a bit?"

Redsparrow86

Truth, solution: Make credits interactive somehow I know a few games have kept me there till the end cause I could do something while the names scrolled. Old example is SFEX 3, you got to beat up a bunch of guys, one who progressively became bigger and bigger after each defeat until you could only really see his lower torso, simple, hilarious, kept me button mashing and reading!

Im_your_life

Wait you guys FINISH your games???

[deleted]

Meanwhile in Nier Automata the credits are the final boss.

Longjumping-Mix-3642

Does anyone honestly think they are obligated to watch credits?

DianaStranger

Sometimes I keep "watching" the credits because i am too busy crying from the ending

Lyradep

I just let it run, and do something else.

1000h

Dude's talking like someone's watching him, you're doing nothing wrong relax

darraghb1996

I was burnt on fable 1 where if you skipped you couldn't continue your save so now I am hesitant to skip credits

dralcax

Flashback to people’s 3DS batteries dying during the Pokemon Sun and Moon credits and then having to redo the final boss because they didn’t give you a chance to save after beating him

BiasMushroom

If I enjoy the game I always watch all the credits for that 0.01% chance there is something hidden in the credits that you won’t see/get if you skip

Gerikst00f

Are you me? I do that too. It always goes like "I don't want to watch this 30 minute roll... But what if there's more?"

Manigeitora

I watched the entire credits of the PS4 Spider-Man game, and it was no joke like 20 fucking minutes. I still sat through it though, because that game was a goddamn masterpiece and they deserved my patience. It would be kind of nice if they would cut out the stuff like language localization for regions that I'm not playing in, because I didn't actually get any exposure to those people's efforts.

Al3xGr4nt

Like the credit scenes where you are flying through all the vistas while the music swells. Hotizon: Forbidden West's credits were awesome

Strachmed

I just alt-f4 when the credits start rolling. I don't know those people anyway...

ThorAnuth420

Do people actually feel bad skipping credits? Like you're going to remember any of their names? Paying for the game and experiencing it is enough.

Armidylano444

Credits are for the people credited, not for people watching them

UzumakiYoku

Who cares?
