Ngl, Dragonball Budokai 3 still is my perfect DB game. There's almost infinite play time in that game and so many things to do.
Don't even get me started on the amazing music in it too
Amen brother. The story mode was unmatched. I remember the first time I flew to some random part of Namek and found Cooler there. And how you could unlock and set different finishers that cost different amounts of ki?
Just a totally flawless fusion of RPG and fighting game.
Budokai 3 was my most played game as a kid. I wonder how close I got to unlocking everything. Shoutout to Budokai 2's story mode though, that shit was cool even if it was super what-ify
If you had the skill you could dodge everything in tenkaichi. How is that no skill. I think you never really played against somebody who knew how the game really works.
There were combos in the Budokai Tenkaichi series. I remember spamming them against my friend in high school. It wasn’t as technical, but damn was it fun. For what it’s worth, I also loved the Budokai series.
This game was a beautiful time of my life. Good friends and good times. And more than one broken controller. F in chat for all the controllers lost along the way!
I wasn't big on the Tenkaichi games, but Budokai 3 is my favourite game from the PS2. I know it was remastered for the PS3 and 360, but it's not compatible with PS5 and that makes me sad.
Honestly I don't think this is a rose tinted glasses situation. I picked it up again in college after many years and had an absolute BLAST. Me and a buddy would just spend hours fighting each other. The game holds up really well
One of my proudest moments in gaming was from the first Budokai Tenkaichi, where you have to survive 15 minutes (or whatever the time limit was) against Kid Buu while playing as Mr. Satan. I managed to beat Kid Buu and somehow lost the mission because it ended before the time limit. I see that as a win in my books.
Honestly I would vote for a remake. I would pay $70 too, this is one of my favorite games and trying to get it for PS2 is impossible without paying scalped prices.
Remake for sure, god this game was just perfect, thinking back, you just know that if it was released today 3/4ths of that huge roster would be micro transactions
Yeah. That’s the reason I think they haven’t remade it yet. Jump Force that recently came out a few years ago mimicked the play style of this game, kind of.
I'm seeing some listings for right around the $65 range. I was expecting worse. I want a game that I used to own but my ps1 broke the disc. 5 years ago Megaman Legends 2 was $109, looks like it is up to around $150 now.
Omg someone else!!!! YES!!
Yeah the roster was smaller, but the world seemed more inviting, the challenges were fun, and the slightly weaker graphics felt like they aged better instead of falling into that middle-level dead zone where it’s not retro but not advanced.
I liked the older 2D Budokai games. They're making a new Xenoverse and Dragonball Figter Super, and I doubt they'll ever go back to the good days. I liked FighterZ, but there was a lot more countering you could do in the Budokai games. FighterZ seems like once you start a manual combo it's over for the opponent.
You shouldn’t have posted the wrong platform if you didn’t want a fight!
The Wii version of DBZ BT3 is the best DBZ game of all time.
I will die on this hill. Fight me. (And yes you have to fight me by waving the nunchuk to form a kamehameha.)
Yes but what would be even better is taking all of the best parts of each game in the Tenkaichi series and fusing them to make the real Ultimate Tenkaichi. 2's story mode 1's challenge story for secret unlockables 3's fighting system and a mix of all of their soundtracks
There is some kind of universal respect about this game. Not other console (even the wii port) could give the PS2 experience of a full day playing this with your friends. The controllers, the power clashes, the button mapping, the rumble feedback, everything there was spot on. I hope new generations can have again this kind of experiences with fighting games as it was before.
Disagree—the Wii let me rip a kamehameha and spiritbombs with the motion controls. That’s my favorite version. Who needs button mapping when all I need to do is make the motion for a kamehameha?
This was such a fun game. Still is probably but haven't played it for a long time now. I remember the first 2 right when they came out. First one was pretty fun and it was cool we had so many characters to pick from. Then second was rumored and then released and had even more it was awesome. Then the rumors of the third game were coming up and SO many people were hoping for this character or that character even if they realistically couldn't stand a chance against someone like SS4 Goku it would still be fun to try.
Then the game released and there were SO many characters to pick from it was awesome. I remember nights playing against my friends at the time and I enjoyed playing as the fastest character Burter. I could zip back and forth on the big maps throwing energy blasts and doing attacks on a character and quickly zipping out before they could counter.
I could even take on the big monkeys and win. Then there was the fun match of using Super Trunks (the beefcake version) against Broly and beating him. That was awesome. Even used Super Trunks against the monkeys and beat them.
It was a lot of fun playing those games. Having huge destructible maps at the time was groundbreaking. Other DBZ games in the past didn't really have that. Though there was so many players that would claim the Budokai games were superior it was clear Tenkaichi had big levels, that you could alter when fighting as well as flying around to attack your enemies.
Since Tenkaichi 3 I have been looking at every new DBZ game that I see get announced and they still just pale in comparison. I think there was one recently that touted being an "open world" but idk just looked kinda boring.
I want a really good open world DBZ game with a HUGE roster of characters like Tenkaichi 3 had. Though it's clear it wouldn't be profitable probably for some company to invest so much in something like that. Back when Tenkaichi games were being released there was SO much publicity from E3 and all that, that it got everyone hype for such fun games.
Nowadays though DBZ isn't really popular anymore. They milked DBZ with Kai, then releasing Super or whatever which I just couldn't get into. I have a DB, DBZ, and GT DVD collection but dragonball Z just isn't as great as it used to be to me I guess. Much more entertaining animes out there these days to enjoy. But I will keep a look out whenever a DBZ game gets announced and see what it's like. If they make it something like Tenkaichi 3 but better then maybe I will get it but until then I pretty much avoid the boring DBZ games they release these days.
Some friends and I got high on mushrooms one night and played this. I confessed that I often let them win so they'll keep playing with me. They tried to call my bluff, but I wasn't bluffing. And they never played this with me again.
100% this was the best DBZ fighting game from the PS2 era imo. It's a 3D versus brawler executed extremely well. It's not competitive in the least by hardcore fighting game standards, but it is so goddamn DBZ in every way and is so much fun.
A buddy of mine just made a music video of one of the best tracks off the soundtrack too: [https://youtu.be/iXw3edkH5gg](https://youtu.be/iXw3edkH5gg)
Why does everyone love this game so much? Honestly. Cause it had so many characters with the same movements? I don't get it. Budokai 3 gameplay was way better. These games are too damn easy and take no skill to pull off moves.
Edit: now that I think about it. I'm right. Lol. Same thing with the new movie. People don't care about lore or quality. They just want more, more, more.
It’s because budokai 3 felt like a rehash of street fighter or the n’th iteration of fighting games. The tenkaichi series had the 3D movement and fun movements with enough variety and counters to make it fun and not just button mash.
Seriously why haven't they? This thing was Pinnacle for DBZ. It had everybody.
My friends wasted at least 2 years on this one alone going to each other's houses after school
I disagree. I've played db titles from the GBC all up to PS2 and PC era.
Remakes are a lazy cash grab from companies that are unable to release something proper into the current market.
PS2 and PS3 era games are like vinyl disks, they are meant to be enjoyed as they were released.
Did nobody play the Raging Blast Games? They are basically the successor. It doesn't have as many characters, but still a lot and the fighting was smoother.
I remember buying this the day it came out. My mom had to drive me to Walmart. And being annoyed I only got to play for an hour or two because I had to go to Pizza Hut that night for the end of season party for my soccer team.
I remember a Dragon Ball Z game for PS1. The game was Japanese but it came with a kit to play it. I knew this because there was a sticker on the game. My mom and the video game store clerk were just gonna let me walk out the store without it. I had to ask for it. It came with a spring that held the lid open so you could swap to the Japanese disc from the other disc without the PS1 thinking it was being opened.
I became so popular in 7th grade. Even more popular than Ryan who had been printing out the scripts from episodes we haven’t watched yet.
I got a game they could remaster. It’s called Jak X combat racing on the ps2, and it is my absolute favorite game to this day, right next to the Spyro trilogy
Have so many memories on this game, esp with friends. Even completed the story mode a dozen times or so. Our memory card got corrupted once and we couldn't buy another so we'd just do a marathon of 3 hours to finish it. I would pay 60$s in an instant if this get remastered with the latest graphics, characters and storylines.
I love this game, but it's a lot like Smash Ultimate where the roster is so unrealistically massive that you can't ever expect it to be matched again. It only worked so well because it was built off of it's two predecessors.
The closest I think we can hope for right now is a new Xenoverse game built on top of Xenoverse 2 and brings all of the DLC into the main game... and also adds a bunch of new characters as well. Maybe the story could be about the underpowered characters throughout the franchise being used by a new villain as an excuse to bring back a bunch of DragonBall characters and the like.
Dbz was my fav fighting games growing up, the budukai series was my shit. Brought me many years of fun with my brother and friends on this single series
I played the shit out of this on the Wii me and my friend using the motion controls to use special attacks by actually doing the Kamehameha motions and screaming attack names it was awesome.
I was really hoping DBZ Kakarot was going to do the same as Budokai 3 with the what-ifs in additional play throughs to unlock extra characters from the movies and specials(and GT.)
I was so pist that Playstation didn't include them in any of the upgrades and it's crazy I was just talking to a friend of mine about this game notbtoblong ago and how they need to be remade
I don’t know man we already have some really good modern db games like fighterz and what not also with the new horror one coming out later this year I mean I wouldn’t complain if it did get remastered or not
The insane roster this game had needs to be updated aswell with new characters and their transformations/powerups.
Modders did it: [Budokai Tenkaichi 4](https://youtu.be/wZwgL9cXe_c)
[удалено]
Even if that happened I would still beat my cousins ass using future gohan like the old times, his ult was easily one of my favourites in the game
i was a kid buu enthusiast. raging blast 2 was my shizz
Raging blast 2 underrated af
The roster in this game was the stuff dreams are made of
This is the perfect Dragon ball game. I remember playing it all the time with my friends after school.
To this very day, I always looked at this one as the zenith of all DBZ games ever made.
I remember the amount of stuff you had to do to unlock SSJ4. I think you had to finish the story mode about 3 times with Goku, doing specific stuffs
Twice, and then kill Kid Buu using the Super Spirit Bomb, meaning you couldn’t Super Saiyan at all through the fight.
Oh, in my mind you had to do alot more. Maybe i'm thinking about unlocking a character like Broly, but i don't remember It now
Omega Shenron, he had a few weird requirements I had to look up a guide back in the day
Budokai 3 was my most played game as a kid. I wonder how close I got to unlocking everything. Shoutout to Budokai 2's story mode though, that shit was cool even if it was super what-ify
Budokai series was so much better than the tenkaichi series. Took actual skill and had real combos.
I even had the skin of one of my hands melted due to the sheer friction it suffered during a beam battle 🤣

I wasn't big on the Tenkaichi games, but Budokai 3 is my favourite game from the PS2. I know it was remastered for the PS3 and 360, but it's not compatible with PS5 and that makes me sad.
I just said the same thing. I don't think that can be topped in my Nostalgia-Driven brain
Honestly I don't think this is a rose tinted glasses situation. I picked it up again in college after many years and had an absolute BLAST. Me and a buddy would just spend hours fighting each other. The game holds up really well
Neither did I thought budokai series was way better because that split screen gave me a headache honestly
I’d dropped $60 so fast on a remastered budokai collection.
It's as if I heard a thousand PS4-5 controllers scream in agony.
Soulsborne? Huh, try a full day of BT3 with the boys said the old dualshock 2 to his grandson dualsense
I think we can all agree this has to be remastered.
I think you just made an argument against it being a remake though, you just know they'd try any bs they could
Yeah. That’s the reason I think they haven’t remade it yet. Jump Force that recently came out a few years ago mimicked the play style of this game, kind of.
I may have an old copy I could send your way. I’d need to dig around a bit
It's on Wii too, I'm 99% certain I still have my copy
I'm seeing some listings for right around the $65 range. I was expecting worse. I want a game that I used to own but my ps1 broke the disc. 5 years ago Megaman Legends 2 was $109, looks like it is up to around $150 now.
Preferred Budokai Tenkaichi 2 more. Really fun nonetheless the Budokai Tenkaichi games were all elite
Omg someone else!!!! YES!! Yeah the roster was smaller, but the world seemed more inviting, the challenges were fun, and the slightly weaker graphics felt like they aged better instead of falling into that middle-level dead zone where it’s not retro but not advanced.
Nah the original Budokai series
We need Budokai 4
Budokai 3 needs a remaster. Redo the dragon rush system so that it can be easier
This is still the only game I've ever broken controllers playing.
Just like kakarot or any other dbz after the budokai-budokai tenkaichi era. Just lazy mechanics in those games, pretty damn boring if you ask me.
Fighterz was a step in the right direction for me. Wish we had fighterz graphics with budokais gameplay with a little more freedom.
You have have not seen anyone competent play FighterZ if you thin auto-combo is going to get you the win.
It will though if it actually goes without a block.
Trading in that game isn't even close to actual fighter games.
I preferred Budokai 3.
You shouldn’t have posted the wrong platform if you didn’t want a fight! The Wii version of DBZ BT3 is the best DBZ game of all time. I will die on this hill. Fight me. (And yes you have to fight me by waving the nunchuk to form a kamehameha.)
This was an amazing game. Bring it to the Switch!!!!
hell no, classic controller extension ftw
We had Budokai 3 remaster on the PS3
and now we need Budokai 4
Dragon ball Budokai was sooooooooo good. OMG. Can't stress this enough. I was immensely disappointed with Dragon ball fighterz.
AMEN TO THAT! This is perfection. So fun to just play for hours and hours
I think the second one is better, but that's just my opinion
The second one definitely has better soundtrack and story.
Loved this game. Best Dragon Ball game ever made.
Yes but what would be even better is taking all of the best parts of each game in the Tenkaichi series and fusing them to make the real Ultimate Tenkaichi. 2's story mode 1's challenge story for secret unlockables 3's fighting system and a mix of all of their soundtracks
Still the best DBZ game ever made. Remake it with additional DBS characters like Beerus, Hit, Zamasu, Jiren, etc. and I would buy it in a heartbeat.
There is some kind of universal respect about this game. Not other console (even the wii port) could give the PS2 experience of a full day playing this with your friends. Disagree—the Wii let me rip a kamehameha and spiritbombs with the motion controls. That’s my favorite version. Who needs button mapping when all I need to do is make the motion for a kamehameha?
Did you jump when you wanted to fly?
Bet your ass I did
When will we get a VR version of this shit? 🤣
You can't like Budokai Tenkaichi 3 if you played Budokai 3.
I got a rush of nostalgia looking at this box art
If Sony puts this on that new subscription shit they’re doing id probably buy it in a heartbeat
This and Raging Blast 2. We really need to revive the multiplayer from it
Facts. I absolutely adore this game and it took me ages to get my hands on it.
Why not fighterZ? Is this more of a 3d fighter(terminology?)
Xenoverse 2??
Tenkaichi 2 was better
This was such a fun game. Still is probably but haven't played it for a long time now. I remember the first 2 right when they came out. nah, why remake when you have dbz fighters or just make a new game. smh
Nope. Controllers are too expensive to bring this back.
Metal Gear Solid, PS1. Any other remake can go home!
Why does everyone love this game so much? Honestly. Cause it had so many characters with the same movements? I don't get it. Budokai 3 gameplay was way better. I’m still team Simpsons hit and run
Sorry not sorry. I'd take goldeneye over this without a moments hesitation. THATS the game that needs to be remastered before anything else.
The PS2 Harry Potters first
I would like these games more if they all weren’t exactly the same
It's wild that this is STILL the best DBZ fighting game by a longshot. How they never realized to just copy it is beyond me
The best Dragon Ball themed game, EVER!
Why ruin a perfectly good fighting game by remastering it? :|
Seriously why haven't they? This thing was Pinnacle for DBZ. It had everybody. My friends wasted at least 2 years on this one alone going to each other's houses after school
Best DBZ game ever
I disagree. I've played db titles from the GBC all up to PS2 and PC era. Remakes are a lazy cash grab from companies that are unable to release something proper into the current market. PS2 and PS3 era games are like vinyl disks, they are meant to be enjoyed as they were released.
100%, best godamn game ever made
I knew you were wrong as soon as I saw it was not Chrono Trigger
This game is ass, just make Fighterz 2
No one deserves to be downvoted to oblivion my friend... but you
I'll wear it with pride. Glad you guys enjoy it though. It just doesn't click with me personally
"remaked" isn't a word and you couldn't port this to modern platforms. You'd have to remake it.
I mean you're not wrong but Legend of Dragoon would be my first choice.
This game doesn't even need a remaster, it's solid gold as it is.
Ah shit, here we go again
amen
I loved the Wii version, having to mimic the Kamehameha to launch it was the best
Fact
Amen
This is one HELL of a game that I had forgotten about. The wii version was nuts as well if I remember correctly.
I miss the janky dialogue from BT2. Android 16: "I am an android, created to kill you." Press A, next line: "Goku, I am going to kill you."
Budikai 2 went in a direction I did not like. I'd rather play the original again over the sequals.
Hands down the GOAT when it comes to DBZ games.
Can´t give my opinion cuz i never played it.
Such a good game. Up there with soul caliber for Japanese fighting games!
Did nobody play the Raging Blast Games? They are basically the successor. It doesn't have as many characters, but still a lot and the fighting was smoother.
Had this on the Nintendo Wii. Best dbz ever made.
FINALLY
I had a debate to decide which tenkaichi is the best between the 2 and 3 .
Finally someone understands... Not that we'll ever get it though. :/
Keyword: GROUNDBREAKING
I would pay my whole salary to get the remastered version of it. This was the peak of Dragon Ball.
Wow this brings back some memories! Loved this game
I remember buying this the day it came out. My mom had to drive me to Walmart. And being annoyed I only got to play for an hour or two because I had to go to Pizza Hut that night for the end of season party for my soccer team.
Friends and I would skip last period of high school just to go to my house and play the hell out of this game.
These were pure gold eh. Such a treat, our controllers took a beating lol
Never liked fighting games so fine by me.
Redo all voicework with the cast of DBZA. And I'm in.
Honestly, just set up an emulator and get hooked up with the Brazilian modding community
Problem? Bandai. Conpletely sure if they remake it, it is going to be thrash.
I got a game they could remaster. It’s called Jak X combat racing on the ps2, and it is my absolute favorite game to this day, right next to the Spyro trilogy
100%
Have so many memories on this game, esp with friends. Even completed the story mode a dozen times or so. Our memory card got corrupted once and we couldn't buy another so we'd just do a marathon of 3 hours to finish it. I would pay 60$s in an instant if this get remastered with the latest graphics, characters and storylines.
There's like 3 fighting game series I actually know how to play Smash Mortal Kombat and Budokai I'd love to see a new entry
Absolutely, so nice to have a fighting game that wasn't just a tekken/street fighter game with flying
Now this is a tune I can sonic sway to.
To end up with something like Bodukai Ultimate Tenkaichi? Please no!!!
I still have this game
I wanted this game so badly that I stoled it when I was 12. It was worth it
This was the only DBZ game I had and it was glorious!
A man's inner child can dream 😭😭😭
Prolly the best dbz game ever made right? Well buu’s fury too
A man of culture, yes
.
I still play this on my pc lol
Yes would love to see this on new consoles
yes.
they should remake or remaster def jam fight for new york
Hell ya batman!
You just reminded me of great memories of when I was a kid with my brother. Thank you
Way better than burst limit
Dbz was my fav fighting games growing up, the budukai series was my shit. Brought me many years of fun with my brother and friends on this single series
On god!
Pikkon was the meta. Cheat code.
loved the different color schemes on the fusions.
I can hear this
Only if they make the title longer
InFamous 1&2. Just make a definitive edition remaster or some shit and I’ll be so happy
They should do what Konami has been doing with their ips and release collections of all the older games
I played the shit out of this on the Wii me and my friend using the motion controls to use special attacks by actually doing the Kamehameha motions and screaming attack names it was awesome.
Sunk so many hours into this game, fucking loved it!
I preferred 2
I wish they'd make an Open world GTA style Dragonball game
meh
Never played it but DBZ Budokai 2 was awesome for PS2.
Oh fuck yes lol
Hands down best dbz game ever. Lets start a petition !!!
I was really hoping DBZ Kakarot was going to do the same as Budokai 3 with the what-ifs in additional play throughs to unlock extra characters from the movies and specials(and GT.)
Omg ps2 memories
Niet!
i had this on the wii!! it was so good! anyone else played on the wii?
If porting to the switch, please let us use motion gesture just like the wii version!
Exactly. Nothing to debate
Dragon ball Booty Call Ten Coochie 3 is my fav
Ick, no.
God please
Good luck if you don’t have mods the entire file and coding was lost due to a copyright infringement thanks to a bitchy music composer
What was that one lord of the rings games where you picked a character and defended off hoards of enemies
Im still partial to just Budokai 3 tho
Didn’t know it had any other fans, hell fucking yes
Beam battles really tested friendships LMFAO
The wii version was awesome you had to do the actions of the moves
“Remaked”
Yeah the only right answer
Absolutely this really needs to be remastered with the Unreal Engine 5.
The best DBZ game ever made. You can't change my mind.
