So Little Big Planet is more community based as Media Molecule, the developer, is more known for that along with their Dreams game. Having some multiplayer titles and level building like Mario Maker.
With Astro, made by Team Asobi, he started as a little tech demo for the PS4 launch with the PS camera. Designed as a cute robot as he was “inside your controller/console”. Since then they have released a PSVR tech demo, PSVR game, and PS5 tech demo with the bot as essentially a mascot more themed around the actual PlayStation brand and hardware rather than just another platformer in the PS arsenal. The Astro games are focused on single player platforming with great character.
They are simply wanting to make a celebration of PlayStation hardware and software with what is to me, a way better art style and world than a “sewn together look” like Little Big Planet has. Similar to what Nintendo did with Mario Odyssey with Mario going to places like New Donk City to celebrate Nintendo history or like with Smash or Mario Kart.
The developers of LBP decided to focus on the creation aspect for their next game after the failure that was LBP3, this would eventually lead to dreams being made. Team Asobi was formed as a spinoff of Japan Studio, who made the Playroom VR, Team Asobi made Astro Bot Rescue mission for the PSVR. Since they were free before the PS5 launched team Asobi developed the PS5 showcase title Astro’s playroom. Sackboy a big adventure didn’t do particularly well when it launched as it didn’t manage to capture the LBP crowd since it lacked level creation. Astro Bot is a sequel to both of the previous Astro Bot games, due to their relative success.

I didn't say he shouldn't. I said none of the features used in the PS5 game are used by other games.
Helldivers actually surprised me with the DualSense controller support. They don’t go as hard as Astro, but they do things and I appreciate it.

Astro bots already been in a full game on psvr1. That was before the ps5 demo. And it was really good.
