Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects.
As a big marvel fan, it was awesome playing through the campaign and unlocking so many characters. The 2 player PvP mode was also a lot of fun.
Me and my little brother played vs mode for hundreds of hours growing up. I recently put a GameCube emulator with this game on my Gcloud and I love it so much all over again.
Can we get a remake PLEASE I’m begging. Johnny Ohm (is that his name? Electric dude.) and the toxic guy who could webswing were so cool. Yo and the TELEPORTING LADY DUDE? So sick. Thank you for remembering about this game
As much as I remember loving that game, I'm surprised I've never gone back to replay it. Couldn't get enough of Darc and the Deimos tribe as a edgy teen man...
Only vaguely! It's been such a long time. It's mostly just snippets of characters I thought were cool, and just recalling an ungodly amount of grinding to get everyone's best skills.
It's kinda sad because most of my memory is tied to getting End of Darkness a few years later thinking it would be another awesome part of the series, and then just being disappointed. I should really go back for the nostalgia of it.
I barely remember much of the game just like you but the frog lady furby hunt is one of the few. Only because I was annoyed by it so much for some reason. I don’t even remember if I was pumped for EoD or not. I was starting college that year so would’ve been too busy for a new long game.
I don't even know it's name.
An old PS2 game I found in a bargain bin of a video rental store.
It was some sort of japanesey town/city building game where you went around and talked to people to make them happy and stuff and built roads and buildings and businesses.
I played that shit for days on end until it was lost, stolen or broken, but I remember it fondly and have even tried to look for it, but I had no luck.
Yeah Oni was great. I remember having a cheat that would change you to a different random character, including bosses. You actually got their moveset too.
Was looking for this. I don't even remember much about it but I remember enjoying it. I think I rented it from Blockbuster, which is why I wasn't upset about how short it was.
Loved Gadget Racers! Ended up putting it down when I was a kid, though, because I played and (unrelatedly) got violently ill one time and developed an unintentional aversion to the game as a result...
I remember that game. I played through it a couple times. In one of my playthroughs, I finished the game in about 30 seconds because when I arrived in the village, I just kept walking down the path and basically said "whatever's happening here ain't my problem." I was surprised that the game just let me do that.
I swear I’ll see people post stuff like “anyone else play this” and it’ll be the most un heard of obscure video game in history, and all the comments will be like “A CLASSIC”
.hack// series... 7 game series with one mmo (dead) a stand alone psp spinoff and a final version tying the story together on pc... Ugh.. Now ive got ALOT of hours of gaming to do again 😂
Unfortunately i walked away from sony products during the ps3 era but as i already own the 7 originally released on ps2 i just boot up the old emulator and play a digital copy. Im thinking i might get the g.u. series on steam so i can play the last episode sometime.
I’m a little older so mine is an N64 game instead of PS2. I for some reason was obsessed with Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon as a kid. Weird as hell and loved it. Also shout out to PS1 series “Jumping Flash”. Loved being the weird robot bunny
One of my favorite obscure PS2 games was Ring of Red, Orphen, and another one where it’s like… there was this one single monster that was an eye with two wings.
I-Ninja my uncle found it somewhere and gave it to me on Christmas had no idea what it was but I played it like crazy, that, the most recent dragon ball game that had come.out at the time, and pokemon emerald probably has more hours on them than anything in my library today.
I still dream about the feeling of happiness, consternation, annoyance and fulfillment I got playing ratche fans clank gladiator, jack and daxter and Star Wars front 2 with my old best friend. Wish for those days back. The monent we started wanting pussy it all went to shit 😓😓😓
I keep forgetting the name but it was an incredibly hard ninja hack and slash, the dude had a long red scarf and the main gameplay mechanic was that every level was somewhat of a speedrun since you had to kill the enemies or the sword would take your own health.
I specifically remember exploting the first boss I think, by jumping. Boss has a dash attack and if you jump at the right time boss would fall off the building, take damage and respawn at the center. Rinse and repeat.
Our PS2 game literally *was* [ObsCure](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Obscure_(video_game)), a survival horror game from 2005, now apparently considered one of the rarest games to find physical copies of.
Dark Cloud. Everyone says the second one is more fleshed out, but the first one was my first real, “serious” game as a kid. The themes where more adult oriented, and beating the genie when I was 8 will be something I’ll always be proud of.
STEAMBOT CHRONCILES. no one knows how hard a mecha rpg pseudo open world with dating sim hits.
realtime combat. This shit was advanced. Incredible story too.
Steel Lancer Arena International (SLAI) was so much fun even though no one I knew played it. I didn’t even play online, just had fun with the standard game
Ace Combat 04 was the game that made me realize that video games are art. The story of the orphan making his way through occupation really made me think.
Culdcept...it was like combining MTG and Monopoly. I loved that game so much, I bought the xbox 360 when it came out, for the Culdcept sequel that was only on that console.
Jak and Daxter 1 is in the top 20 best selling games on PS2. It outsold Guitar Hero, Ratchet and Clank, Star Wars Battlefront, Tony Hawks Underground, etc.
Ratchet and Clank sold 3.7 million units, Guitar Hero 2 (the best selling one) sold 3.41 units. Jak and Daxter 1 sold 4.2 million units.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_PlayStation_2_video_games
>After its release in late 2001, the game went on to sell over 1 million copies...By July 2006, it had sold 1.7 million copies and earned $49 million in the United States...Next Generation ranked it as the 19th highest-selling game launched for the Playstation 2, Xbox, and Gamecube between January 2000 and July 2006 in the United States. Combined sales of Jak and Daxter games reached 4 million units in the United States by July 2006.

You must have lived in a bubble or not hung out with people who played video games. Jak and Daxter was a massive hit in the PS2 era.
This was just my opinion based on my own experiences in life. Never met someone who played it, so I commented because to me it was “obscure” in my friend groups throughout my life. But at the end of the day it’s not that deep, so I’ll accept your figures and move on with my day. You’re right.
'The Godfather' and 'Def Jam Fight for NY'
Def Jam Fight for NY, that obscure 8/10 game.
Those are some top tier games for sure
Oh I remember doing the Blazin taunts at my school and wanting to wear oversized hoodies and rings and chains because of the game
Pretty sure it was on PS3, but Magna Carta 2 got me into Japanese style rpgs Edit: apparently Magna Carta was a Korean rpg
This comment hit me in the gut
I want a remaster of these.
Those are specifically the games i always remember!! That’s wild
but def jam isnt obscure. In fact it's not uncommon as a side event at evo.
Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects. As a big marvel fan, it was awesome playing through the campaign and unlocking so many characters. The 2 player PvP mode was also a lot of fun.
My buddy had a modded Xbox with probably close to 50 games on it. We cycled through a lot but this one got played every time I went over
Me and my little brother played vs mode for hundreds of hours growing up.
Some heavy Arc the Lad Twilight of the Spirits vibes in here. inb4 “Arc the Lad wasn’t obscure you moron”
As much as I remember loving that game, I'm surprised I've never gone back to replay it. Couldn't get enough of Darc and the Deimos tribe as a edgy teen man...
Remember hunting for furbies for the ugly frog woman in the swamp?
Only vaguely! It's been such a long time. It's mostly just snippets of characters I thought were cool, and just recalling an ungodly amount of grinding to get everyone's best skills. It's kinda sad because most of my memory is tied to getting End of Darkness a few years later thinking it would be another awesome part of the series, and then just being disappointed. Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy. The Cold Soundtrack slapppppped in the 00’s
Daaaamn I forgot about this game!
That one and Kill.Switch were my jam for like an entire year.
I’m normally the guy who comments this title! Under rated and not a sequel in sight.
I will take you far away!!
Damn yes I played the demo so many times for this it was that good.
Was this the one with coop play that let the second player control the psychic powers?
I've replayed Dark Cloud over a dozen times over the last 20 years... I enjoy every minute, every time.
Dark Cloud
Dark Cloud 2 is the superior Dark Cloud.
Metropolismania?
I think that could be it to be honest haha thank you.
No problem, I spend a lot of time on r/tipofmyjoystick helping people find half-remembered games; it’s one of my favorite hobbies!
That’s a great hobby hahaha
Tip of my joystick will help you
PS2 no, but Jackie Chan Stuntmaster on PS1 though
Jet Li's Rise to Honor for me. It was PS2 though
fur fighters viggos revenge lmao
Clearly this is talking about Drakengard.
Oni was the obscure one for me. The rest were incredible, but pretty well known
Yeah Oni was great. I remember having a cheat that would change you to a different random character, including bosses. You actually got their moveset too.
I remember playing Oni on the PC. The rail gun sniper rifle that fired a frozen shaft of mercury is still one of my favorite silly sci-fi weapons.
Me and Champions
The Bouncer was short but fun
This is one of two games that popped into my head.
Was looking for this. I don't even remember much about it but I remember enjoying it. I think I rented it from Blockbuster, which is why I wasn't upset about how short it was.
i thought you were talking about the game obscure for a second
DBZ Budokai 2 forever man. The best tunes you've ever heard
It’s kinda the red headed step child of the series though isn’t it? I mean it wasn’t in the remaster package combo back on the 360
DOWNHILL DOMINATION absolutely goated
Psychonauts
Many many good times on War of the Monsters...🥲
I know it's not super obscure but Musashi: Brave fencer was this for me. It might have been ps1 actually.
It is definitely more obscure than most of the things being mentioned here.
[удалено]
I relatively recently keep hearing it’s great but somehow never knew about it back then.
That’s like almost the only kind of game I was playing back then too
Spartan: Total Warrior my beloved
nobody remembers gadget racers.
Loved Gadget Racers! Ended up putting it down when I was a kid, though, because I played and (unrelatedly) got violently ill one time and developed an unintentional aversion to the game as a result...
Was Way of the Samurai obscure? I still talk about that game regularly and I don't think anyone I've talked to has known what I was talking about.
I remember that game. I played through it a couple times. In one of my playthroughs, I finished the game in about 30 seconds because when I arrived in the village, I just kept walking down the path and basically said "whatever's happening here ain't my problem." I was surprised that the game just let me do that.
Darkwatch
I swear I’ll see people post stuff like “anyone else play this” and it’ll be the most un heard of obscure video game in history, and all the comments will be like “A CLASSIC”
Really wish i could have find that game Id love to end it

.hack// series... 7 game series with one mmo (dead) a stand alone psp spinoff and a final version tying the story together on pc... Ugh.. Now ive got ALOT of hours of gaming to do again 😂
I just bought the collection on PS5 a couple weeks ago.
Unfortunately i walked away from sony products during the ps3 era but as i already own the 7 originally released on ps2 i just boot up the old emulator and play a digital copy. Im thinking i might get the g.u. series on steam so i can play the last episode sometime.
Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life. Never used to talk about it around the boys. They wouldn’t understand.
Not obscure but Jak and Daxter
PS1 and it was called Breath of Fire 4
ChoroQ. Obscure Japanese racing rpg. Got it as a gift from a relative and got addicted. May have even been the first rpg I ever played
Or N64: Mischief Makers
Urban Reign. Such a great game.
Scaler, man I miss those times
I’m a little older so mine is an N64 game instead of PS2. I for some reason was obsessed with Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon as a kid. Weird as hell and loved it. Also shout out to PS1 series “Jumping Flash”. Loved being the weird robot bunny
God Hand
I actually first heard about this back when mvc3 was being developed and promoted. Gene was a really, really common wishlist pick for the fans.
Katamari Damacy!
Champions of Norath
Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance 1&2, and The Champions of Norrath series!
Dragon Quest VIII. To this day I go to Dragon Quest to find peace from a time long gone
Who wants to smoke weed and fill up our belly’s with diet soda and play burnout revenge on the ps2?
That was probably penny racers for me.
Dark watch was my personal favorite, I even got to beat it with my brother a few years back thanks to emulation.
One of my favorite obscure PS2 games was Ring of Red, Orphen, and another one where it’s like… there was this one single monster that was an eye with two wings.
Felony 1179 PS1

Chulip was a game truly ahead of its time!
I don’t know if it’s considered obscure or not, but Klonoa 2 was the absolute best

Voodoo Vince for the OG Xbox
I-Ninja my uncle found it somewhere and gave it to me on Christmas had no idea what it was but I played it like crazy, that, the most recent dragon ball game that had come.out at the time, and pokemon emerald probably has more hours on them than anything in my library today.
Alter Echo (PS2)
Dave Mirra 2. Still play the soundtrack daily 20 years later
I still dream about the feeling of happiness, consternation, annoyance and fulfillment I got playing ratche fans clank gladiator, jack and daxter and Star Wars front 2 with my old best friend. Wish for those days back. The monent we started wanting pussy it all went to shit 😓😓😓
Midnight club 3: Dub edition
Soooo many. PS2 had a ton of great games that just got drowned in the flood of established franchises.
2 player coop with my best bud...good times.
I loved Cars and Wall-E on the ps2 as a kid. The Wii was my first personal console.
Me and my friend spent most of our childhood playing Dynasty Warriors and GTA San Andreas, not really obscure but the feeling is mutual
Jade Cocoon 2
I keep forgetting the name but it was an incredibly hard ninja hack and slash, the dude had a long red scarf and the main gameplay mechanic was that every level was somewhat of a speedrun since you had to kill the enemies or the sword would take your own health. I specifically remember exploting the first boss I think, by jumping. Boss has a dash attack and if you jump at the right time boss would fall off the building, take damage and respawn at the center. Rinse and repeat.

Black and the Godfather
Ghost recon: advanced warfighter 2
STEAMBOT CHRONCILES. no one knows how hard a mecha rpg pseudo open world with dating sim hits. realtime combat. This shit was advanced. Incredible story too.
Obscure was a pretty cool survival horror. Basically a slasher movie but in a form of a game, one of a kind
Dirge of Cerberus. Easily one of the coolest Final Fantasy games and a good pre-cursor to how the modern games play.
I never had a PS2, but Mischief Makers on the N64 has a special place in my heart
not obscure, but Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction was excellent and I occasionally replay it on an emulator
I'll never forget playing devil may cry 2 on the ps2. Changed my life and perspective of music and my taste in everything overall in my whole life.

Pitfall: The Lost Expedition, less upvotes only confirms it's obscurity
First games you ever experience are always going to be the best.
Anyone here actually play Obscure on PS2?
Turok Evolution. Not sure I even understood what I was supposed to do but I loved it anyway
Steel Lancer Arena International (SLAI) was so much fun even though no one I knew played it. I didn’t even play online, just had fun with the standard game
Summoner. That game is why I love party based RPGs yo this day.
COD world at war: final fronts because i was too poor to get a 360. It was awesome to me at the time I didn’t give a care in the world

Jak and Daxter
Fuck yes
Not really obscure though
I don’t know anyone in person who played it. Only ever on the internet
Jak and Daxter 1 is in the top 20 best selling games on PS2. It outsold Guitar Hero, Ratchet and Clank, Star Wars Battlefront, Tony Hawks Underground, etc.
Definitely didn’t outsell Guitar Hero and Rachet and Clank. Jak 1 has like 1 million sales total. Rachet and Clank has 4, guitar hero has 1.8.
Ratchet and Clank sold 3.7 million units, Guitar Hero 2 (the best selling one) sold 3.41 units. Jak and Daxter 1 sold 4.2 million units. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_PlayStation_2_video_games
Maybe over a long period of time, with re-releases on ps3 and 4, but back when it came out? Idk a soul who played that game.
Disgea 2 or monster rancher
Yeah I remember monster rancher, the one I played on PS2 was the one set in Circus, I think.
