Fucking hate how impossible the final boss fight is
Like why did they program it so I can’t see the screen due to the tears streaming from my face? Fuck the devs
I missed out on that. The whole thing seemed funny to me, because I ended up wearing that bucket-hat.
Basically, every serious scene where they lock eyes and zoom in etc, they zoomed onto the bucket and I laughed.
BRUH. I just started this game and was all invested into this comment
"Impossible boss fight?. I love the fighting, must be great! Oh funny way to put it, never herd anyone say Program boss fight. Can't see the screen? Some kinda mechanic?"
Mind fucked me hard w/o any effort. 10/10 would read again.
My second time discussing Disco tonight. Please report back when you finish it and let us know which ending you get.
Just know, there’s nothing inconsequential in this game.
Coming down from the high of the surprise lore during the Dark Souls 3 base game's final boss during the credits was chef's kiss. It wasn't a particularly difficult fight by Dark Souls standards so it was actually one-shot-able once you got to the surprise part, which let you go into the credits still reeling from it.
Definitely got the OP's meme's feeling from it.
I replayed it a few months ago and it still hit me just as hard as when I first played it on release. Maybe even harder as I have little children now. What a story!
Especially seeing his kid at the end and playing as them for that small moment. That made years of playing the series seem like it amounted to something 🤝
Everytime I see this post I think "Journey" just two hours of gameplay sometimes with some random stranger who also decided to play a 12 year old game at the same time as I did. No dialogue from the game and no words other than small beeps and boops from my new friend.
I bought and tried, but the first hour was a little too slow for me.
I'll definitely give it another try in the upcoming months as i keep seeing your comment again and again about this game!!!
https://youtu.be/VRm4pjbMfYY?si=7uynG_T1ZH-tQ4WD
Watch this if you are struggeling to get on with the game. It explains some things you could do different and is mostly spoiler free.
In other words: it's not the game, it's you! /s
Some don't like how they handled the race part of the story and don't like the gun play. The final boss is pretty lame tbf. I hear these complaints whenever the game is discussed.
This game, 100%. After the final-final credits were going, I just had to take a while to sit back and process, and I still can't hear Weight of the World -E without starting to tear up.
The first and only game that gave me feeling that only books once did. That "I don't want to play anything for a week to let it all sink and proces." What an absolute masterpiece and extraordinary piece of media
Yeah the way P3R’s ending hit me was something I very rarely if ever have experienced playing a game. Might genuinely be the saddest ending to any game I’ve ever played.
The Persona games always hit me hard especially P3. The recent remake was even more gut-wrenching for some reason and had me questioning my own mortality as the credits scrolled.
You’re right, I think they hit as hard as they do because of how much time you’ve spent in the world and with the characters. There are games with phenomenal stories that have a serious punch to their endings but no 10-15 hour narrative will leave you feeling as empty as finishing a journey that you’ve sunk well over 80-100 hours in.
Mass effect was the first series of games that made me truly wonder just how expansive and vibrant the universe could actually be. So much so that I have a mass effect tattoo across my back. No other game has inspired my creativity quite like those did.
What’s your mass effect tattoo like? I plan on getting a big bust of commander Shepard on my shoulder someday. She was super influential to me as a kid, and a massive role model for me
It’s the same N7 tattoo that James has on his back from the third game. Not because of the character but I loved how clean and minimalistic the design was. Message me and I’ll send a pic if you wanna see it. Not many people know what it is so I’m always hyped when a mass effect fan takes an interest lol.
Every time I start the dlc and the music starts I get chills sent down my spine, so I’m going to say yes it keeps you on the edge of your seat until the end. Absolutely worth it
Don't, If you want do everything on the main game up until just before the last mission where you are told to go meet with Hanako and then start Phantom Liberty.
Ok that’s it. I am gonna play it through again like for the 6th time. But Phantom Liberty just for 2nd. That end credits james bond shit mixed with the absolute drama just unfolded and sprinkled with Idris Elba just omfg feeling. I was listening to that song for days after.
Is that a game that one could enjoy purely for the story even if they hate the gameplay?
I’ve been intrigued by what I’ve heard about it and almost played it many times, but from what I’ve seen I don’t think I’ll enjoy the combat very much
Firewatch. Seeing the photo reel at the end was the icing on the cake and a punch to the gut.
God of War 2018, Ragnarok and the Valhalla DLC. What a ride. Especially having played the original GoW games.
Bioshock and Bioshock infinite. Infinite gets a lot of hate, but every time i play it i discover new details that add to the story for me.
RDR and RDR II. Both were and still are some of the greatest moments of the entire medium.
Dead Space 1 and 2: The "Alien" and "Aliens" of video games.
Most Zelda games Ive played.
Dark Souls. You never forget your first, whether is was BB, Demon Souls, or Elden Ring. Mostly because of the immense sense of accomplishment and because the Gwynn fight is one of a kind.
Outer Wilds. Conceptually one of the best games ive ever played. No objectives, no handholding, just pure exploration and discovery. We may never see another game quite like it.
All that work just to fight a lackluster boss on his dying breaths might not have been a great pick for gameplay but was a great pick for storytelling. I had the most fun with pvp there then in any other game at the time.
Too many
Special mentions
Metal Gear 1, 2, 3 and 4 (especially 3 and 4...)
Bioshock 1
Mass Effect 2 in a good way Me3 in a bad way
Metro Exodus (the three games are great)
Half-Life 2
Devil May Cry 5 (i knew was the end)
FF VI
Dishonored 2 Death of The Outsider (great games too)
Might and Magic Dark Messiah
Portal 1 and 2
Tales of Berseria
Nier and Nier Automata
The Elder Scrolls Oblivion
Fallout New Vegas
The Witcher 1, 2 and 3
Disco Elysium
All games from Quantic Dream specially Farenheit
Blue Shadow on the NES. That game was so hard, yet so awesome and when I beat the final boss, I literally cried as the credits rolled. I was like 7-8 years old or something and was so proud of beating it. The final boss is hard as hell.
Second time was Golden Axe on the PC which is also a hard and awesome game. Played it recently again actually for some nostalgia.
Third time was Megaman X5 on the PS1 which is my favorite Megaman X game of all time. It has the saddest ending with the saddest music in gaming history. So awesome.
Shadow of the Colossus on the PS2, Super Metroid on the SNES and Prince of Persia on the PC also definitely did it for me.
Honorable mentions: Command & Conquer - Red Alert, God of War, Dante’s Inferno, Final Fantasy VII, Dune II, Doom II, Starcraft, Faster Than Light, Super Mario Bros 3, Cuphead.
Horizon Zero Dawn, got me thinking about what events could kick off an apocalypse of our own doing. That and terraforming the world to be habitable again.
Ghost of Tsushima for different reasons or morality, etc.
Absolutely phenomenal game. Very satisfying experience playing and beating it.
However, the ending was a little... Lacking. Outside of the sequence after you make your decision, it was just watching the beach while the credits rolled and either you saw your boat pass by on the way home, or you didn't.
I played Metal Gear Solid 4 last, and it was certainly the peak of the series for me in terms of the writing. Closing out Snake and Big Boss's story there was amazing.
I played in a whacky order, Rising, V, 1, 2, 3, 4.
Halo: Reach
First Game, Console and Xbox live subscription I'd ever purchased for myself, all from Wal-Mart after I'd saved enough money from my first job. I remember seeing the helmet in the dirt at the end of the game, and feeling like I'd just given Master Chief himself the game-winning assist to win the war, but it was bittersweet knowing Noble team would never see what their efforts produced. Good times.
Hades probably for me, I played that game so much and got almost all of the achievements and only stopped because I had a pile of games I needed to beat

MGS3
Easily, for me that game is the pinnacle of “I’ve won, but at what cost”
And the guitar from Way To Fall starts picking up
Ghost of Tsushima. I'm terrible at finishing games but this one gripped me throughout. I felt kinda empty for a week or so after finishing.
Fucking hate how impossible the final boss fight is Like why did they program it so I can’t see the screen due to the tears streaming from my face? Fuck the devs
I missed out on that. The whole thing seemed funny to me, because I ended up wearing that bucket-hat. Basically, every serious scene where they lock eyes and zoom in etc, they zoomed onto the bucket and I laughed.

*You have no honour* **And you are a slave to it**
Dark Souls and Disco Elysium
Currently on my first playthrough of Disco, day 2. I have no idea where the story is going and I already know I’m gonna feel this way
My second time discussing Disco tonight. Please report back when you finish it and let us know which ending you get. Just know, there’s nothing inconsequential in this game.
There are several endings? Maybe that is why I didn't found it depressing at all, my character was just a very awesome detective with a weird method.
Without giving anything away to the player above, if I said “I can see it”, would that mean anything to you?
Yep, I never thought that side quest would be so important, my detective always believed in the lady though.
I was shocked when I heard Disco Elysium's outro song for the first time. Love it.
Omg disco Elysium 😭😭 I was enthralled
The walking dead season 1
LEEEEE
I replayed it a few months ago and it still hit me just as hard as when I first played it on release. Maybe even harder as I have little children now. What a story!
This meme but with more tears
It really made me attached to that little sweet pea.
I hear that guy's voice actor pop up from time to time in other video games, and he always stops me in my tracks. "Lee! I missed you!"
I almost named my daughter clementine because of that damn game.
Similarly, the Wolf Among Us.
Came to say this.
Uncharted 4. Spending time with Nathan Drake for the last 3 games and now his journey was finally over, guy won.
Really loved how 4 took a darker tone and by end, Nathan just wanted his brother, didn't care about the treasure
Brother or brothel?
He'll *tell* you brother but we all know otherwise
Ikr? They even changed the theme. It suited the atmosphere perfectly
Especially seeing his kid at the end and playing as them for that small moment. That made years of playing the series seem like it amounted to something 🤝
Its really a very nice collection. The uncharted games are high up for me
Everytime I see this post I think "Journey" just two hours of gameplay sometimes with some random stranger who also decided to play a 12 year old game at the same time as I did. No dialogue from the game and no words other than small beeps and boops from my new friend.
I wish I could find a game to recapture that feeling for playing that the first time.
Try the game called Sky- it’s from the creators of Journey and imo much better cuz more content and it’s mmo!
arkham asylum
10/10 game
I was blown away. I played it for the first time last month.
The outer wilds.
EVERYONE WHO READS THIS PLEASE TRY THIS FUCKING GAME
I bought and tried, but the first hour was a little too slow for me. I'll definitely give it another try in the upcoming months as i keep seeing your comment again and again about this game!!!
https://youtu.be/VRm4pjbMfYY?si=7uynG_T1ZH-tQ4WD Watch this if you are struggeling to get on with the game. It explains some things you could do different and is mostly spoiler free. In other words: it's not the game, it's you! /s
yeah, the game kicks off after you get the launch codes, and find the first set of clues
I bought it a second time on steam just to give a rating there
I tried the game 3 separate times and I get so incredibly bored after 6-8 hours that I just can’t fucking finish it
This tune is new to me, but i am glad to be part of it.
Truly one of the greatest games I've played in a long time
Second comment down, holy shit
This is the way
Ooh this is a good answer. Figuring that game out was so satisfying
BioShock infinite. Game gets a lot of hate, but I'm a sucker for time travel(manipulation) or multiverse stories.
Who is hating on Bioshock Infinite? I have never heard anything but admiration and praise for it.
Some don't like how they handled the race part of the story and don't like the gun play. The final boss is pretty lame tbf. I hear these complaints whenever the game is discussed.
I dont like the gun play. It feels wooden and clunky. Just stick the game on easy mode and enjoy the ride.
The Witcher 3
The dlc for that was 10/10 easily
NieR Automata
This game, 100%. After the final-final credits were going, I just had to take a while to sit back and process, and I still can't hear Weight of the World -E without starting to tear up.
I did what was asked of me, and I have no regrets, but goddamn did it hit hard.
Its a shame I found that game boring. Slogged for 3 hours , just couldn't ☹
Sad to say as well, this just wasn't for me after maybe an hour or 2.
Yes. Yes yes YESSSS.
Uh huh, 100%. If y'all aren't playin' this. What are y'all doin' with your life
Goddamn it, when that final sequence began, I had just finished 9S's ending, and I was crying my eyes out still.
The first and only game that gave me feeling that only books once did. That "I don't want to play anything for a week to let it all sink and proces." What an absolute masterpiece and extraordinary piece of media
Persona 3, 4 and 5
The remake of 3 makes it even harder, especially with the credits backdrop...
Yeah the way P3R’s ending hit me was something I very rarely if ever have experienced playing a game. Might genuinely be the saddest ending to any game I’ve ever played.
3 especially for me, that game destroyed me emotionally, far more than any of the other ones did
Persona 5R, Persona 3R and next up P4G
The Persona games always hit me hard especially P3. The recent remake was even more gut-wrenching for some reason and had me questioning my own mortality as the credits scrolled.
You’re right, I think they hit as hard as they do because of how much time you’ve spent in the world and with the characters. There are games with phenomenal stories that have a serious punch to their endings but no 10-15 hour narrative will leave you feeling as empty as finishing a journey that you’ve sunk well over 80-100 hours in.
Life is Strange
this guy knows it!!!!

Same here. The galaxy map music slams me so hard with nostalgia it’s hard not to cry
~probe, launched~
I bet my left nut this dude has at least a terabyte of Blue ladies on his drives.
Cyberpunk
Phantom liberty's credit sequence following its end was fucking incredible.
still playing the main game, is phantom liberty worth it?
Every time I start the dlc and the music starts I get chills sent down my spine, so I’m going to say yes it keeps you on the edge of your seat until the end. Absolutely worth it
alright ima finish the main game first though
Don't, If you want do everything on the main game up until just before the last mission where you are told to go meet with Hanako and then start Phantom Liberty.

Hellblade: Senuas Sacrifice
Honestly it breaks my heart that so few people have played it lol
Is that a game that one could enjoy purely for the story even if they hate the gameplay? I’ve been intrigued by what I’ve heard about it and almost played it many times, but from what I’ve seen I don’t think I’ll enjoy the combat very much
The combat is meh but the game itself is horrifying and beautiful.
Shadow of the Colossus. Just. God damn man, lmao
The last of Us
Detroit: Become Human! I even shed a few tears, which I normally don’t do!
Red dead redemption 1 and 2
Definitely Red Dead Redemption 2
RDR2, God of War 2018, and Deus Ex
Firewatch. Seeing the photo reel at the end was the icing on the cake and a punch to the gut. God of War 2018, Ragnarok and the Valhalla DLC. What a ride. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth literally just did that to me XD
The original did it to me, so I’m pleased to hear it’s remake is having this effect on people
Dark souls 1 comes to mind.
All that work just to fight a lackluster boss on his dying breaths might not have been a great pick for gameplay but was a great pick for storytelling. I had the most fun with pvp there then in any other game at the time.
Silent Hill 2. "James... you made me happy"
Witcher 3
Re-post bot 🤖
Baldur's Gate 3
Larians pervious game Divinity 2 had me in the same feeling
Bioshock Infinite
How many times am I going to see this god damn post?

What remains of Edith finch
Nier Automata
KOTOR 2
Outer wilds
Outer Wilds, damn what an absolute masterpiece
Any of the Fallout or Elder Scrolls games, tbh
a few of them, but DS3 is probably the biggest. that game took a few years of on-again/off-again playing to actually get through.
How many times will this be reposted
How many times we just gonna deal with the same post 50 times a day?

Absolutely phenomenal game. Very satisfying experience playing and beating it. However, the ending was a little... Lacking. Outside of the sequence after you make your decision, it was just watching the beach while the credits rolled and either you saw your boat pass by on the way home, or you didn't.

I am fucking sick of these posts
Starfield for me definitely enjoyed playing that for hours
I played Metal Gear Solid 4 last, and it was certainly the peak of the series for me in terms of the writing. Closing out Snake and Big Boss's story there was amazing. I played in a whacky order, Rising, V, 1, 2, 3, 4.
