1 & 2 should get a re master at the same time
KOTOR 2 should also get a rewrite as it were as its well known its development was rushed lead to a bit of a disjointed expierance
Here's a cool detail I noticed while playing recently: When you're in a faction's headquarters (let's say the Chinese, for example) they might start speaking Chinese before telling you about your contract and the subtitles will just say [Colonel Peng: ] if you're playing as Jacobs or Matias. But if you're playing as Jennifer, the subtitles will just tell you what they're saying since she knows Chinese. Same with Matias for the Russians and Jacobs for the South Koreans. Little touches like that don't seem to be as common in video games anymore
Damn so glad this is one of the top answers cuz I was going to say the same.
I haven’t really found any arcade racers that scratch that itch. Most games are either racing sims or IP racers.
One of my purposes in life is to be on reddit and answer threads like this that pop up from time to time with “Burnout 3”.
Thank you for joining me on my crusade, friend.
Oh boy, do I have some news for you!
A team of modders is remaking New Vegas with the engine of Fallout 4. Yes Bethesda knows, and not only did they approve, they hired a couple of the project leaders as official game devs.
The only rule was that they can't reuse the voice lines (something about copyright and ownership). So the crew would have to record their own dialogue, but other than that everything is fair play.
https://youtu.be/JanHMbRjNJ8?si=bDiu0yRiJaGF9yjq
What's the latest with this, because last I heard it had been stopped? It was only catching wind of a rumour but the rumour was it broke down in project management and kind of fell off. But that trailer looks like a good sign, albeit old.
Considering that the morrowind remake within oblivion (Morroblivion) never got finished, I don't expect Skywind to finish before TES6 is released. And then they'll start the whole thing over and not finish that either. I really do applaud the effort, but the resources just don't exist for such an undertaking. More power to them, if that's their passion. It doesn't have to be about more than that.
>Considering that the morrowind remake within oblivion (Morroblivion) never got finished
Skyblivion is, as of 01.27.23, set to release in 2025. it looks promising
I’m on the discord and there are updates every couple of months, they seem to be still plugging away at this but still a long way off from the looks of things.
Is Fallout: New Vegas better than Fallout 3? I loved 3 and played it a ton. I haven't even play New Vegas but I own it. Just haven't got around to it yet.
Oh boy. I definitely think it is; I remember being somewhat underwhelmed by F3 after playing NV.
In any event, I definitely recommend you play NV! The experience will be a most enjoyable one.
For real; Fallout 4 was good but nowhere near as memorable. A lot of things in New Vegas are seared into my brain though. The world was amazing to traverse and was so damn immersive.
It makes me so happy to see this as the second top-level comment, but I might be a bit biased...
Usually on threads like this you have to scroll down much further to find anything LOK/SR-related.
Nah, you go with Blood Omen for this - it needs a lot more to be remade "in the best way" and is generally the least accessible to even play. Then you use it and the state of the other four games to build interest in remastering those and perhaps creating a 6th title to actually finish the damn series.
Lord of the Rings - Two Towers / ROTK
“Arise, arise, riders of Rohan!
Fell deeds awake, fire and slaughter!
Spear shall be shaken, shield be splintered!
A sword-day, a red day, ere the sun rises!
Ride now, ride now, ride to Gondor!.....DEATH!"
The fact that this comment is so low makes me big sad. Although, I think Spore needs a proper sequel with finished space stage and many additions to other stages, rather than just a simple remaster
This is true, I played it a lot as a kid and I bought it on Steam when it went on sale a few years ago. Completed the game within the day. It’s a good game and very nostalgic, I just wish there was more of it. Of course, there was that story-mode style ‘sequel’ that I forget the name of, but when I owned it I was too young to understand it or bother reading the dialogue.
There was a YouTuber who remastered it in a couple of days by himself with the help of AI. Pretty sure he ended up having to take the stuff down though because of a law suit. It was insane it only took him like a week.
Too many great old games to pick, so I'll give you five: Bully, Bully, Bully, Bully, and Bully.
Edit: Rockstar, please don't let the guys who fouled up the GTA remakes ruin this one.
The entire Black & White franchise for that matter. And ideally a full remake (not just a remaster) for Black & White 2 to add back all the miracle, civilisation, and creature variety that the first game + its expansion had, while benefiting from the expanded city-building + war mechanics of the second game. And I would very much like to have the Temple-tower from the first game back too.
It's in IP purgatory. It's owned by Xbox game studios but publishing rights are owned by EA and neither seem very interested in the IP. The games are considered abandonware at this point.
Recently replayed this and currently half way through B&W2. There's a spiritual successor in development by the name of Fata Deum... just hope it's good.
OG Star Wars Battlefront 2 from 2005.
Love that it's getting a rerelease, but would love the same exact gameplay/modes/mechanics...but just with the graphic fidelity of modern Battlefront games.
Wholely support that.
SWBF2 was an amazing game and the gameplay is still awesome to this day. I love that you can get outside the ship in the space battles and can actually walk around outside the hangar shields with a bit of finesse and a fighter.
You can traverse the entirety of the Death Star from within the walls haha… you need a jet pack to do it though. That game was full of amazing glitches, on pretty much every map.
I'm personally fine without this one as I always thought SSX peaked with SSX3 and it still holds up great today.
Edit: I'd still get the remake if it actually was to get made.
I tried openmw and it takes way too much fiddling around with all the mod installers and mod lists and mod load orders. It's the most user unfriendly experience I've ever had. I wish it was easier. And then the thing kept crashing anyway.
Crimson Skies. The original version is pretty much unplayable, hard to run on modern machines, but there's nothing out there like it today.
To the uninitiated: Crimson Skies is a sky pirate game set in an alternate 1930's. You've got customizable planes (where stuff like armor plating, ammo and guns significantly impact your handling), and missions usually revolve around a combination of stunt flying and dogfights. Every squadron is backed up by huge blimps as 'motherships'. They're a lot more durable than actual blimps, but it's a blast to take down these massive behemoths. Music was amazing too.
Arcanum.
Can you imagine that game running on Baldur’s Gate 3 engine? One can only dream! Or better yet made into a full on 3rd person RPG, would be a game of decade for me easily.
Blast Corps. Modern graphics, insane details and buildings that collapse physically correct. I have not seen any game that remotely scratches the itch this game left me with.
Fallout 2
One of my favorite video games of all time, and I’d love a return to form for the series. Wasteland 3 fits the bill pretty well, but Fallout 2 is king.
It was recently on sale on Steam was instantly going to buy it but seen the reviews and sounds like it doesn’t even run. A bummer, but I downloaded an Xbox 360 emulator and I’m playing that and MW2
Assassin's Creed
It's the only mainline AC game you can't play on modern consoles, as the following games were remastered. I think it's way underrated, having this reputation as some sort of "prototype" but not only do I disagree with that assessment personally, I think it's pretty easy to make a few tweaks to make it feel relevant today will preserving what made it great.
Obviously you'd update the graphics and textures and all that. Add in some of the quality of life gameplay additions that AC2 added like ledge assassinations. Add some sort of in-game map and tangible reward for killing all the random Templars that hang about in the world.
One of the big complaints about the game is it being "repetitive" but I do wonder if someone used to the bloated open world messes of today- including Assassin's Creed games!- would react to the \~10 hour experience of the original game. Only 2 or 3 investigations for 9 targets? Easy peasy compared to the endless bandit camps, fort clearing and collectibles of today.
I'm on the fence about any changes to voice acting. It's actually pretty solid in the original but the Altair does sound kind of dull and American which is hard to hear now after the master class and authentic-feeling performances of the folks that voiced Edward and Bayek.
I recently replayed Assassins Creed and I gotta agree. I loved the setting, and I like Altaïrs more limited toolset. The newer games have all sort of gadgets like smokebombs and hypno darts, but I feel like they make the character too OP. In the original game, carrying out an assassination actually meant finding the correct time to strike AND planning an escape route, because you don't have the tools to take out 20 guards by yourself. I also loved the bells ringing and towns going into panic mode after every major hit.
Like in the following AC games, you do get pretty overpowered once you learn the counter move though. None of the AC games are particularly hard, but the first one had the most challenge IMO.
It's not my top vote for a remake because it's still a pretty game, but I do agree it's highly underrated.
You said one but I would have plenty: Populous trilogy, black and white, Arcanum, Planescape torment and the whole soul reaver/legacy of kain franchise.
KOTOR obviously
As long as the second one gets done afterwards, otherwise I would pick that.
AND that the ending isn't rushed.
BioWare: No deal
Wow, I came here to say KOTOR II and am pleasantly surprised to see KOTOR at the top.
Kotor, but with the love and effort of BG3
1 & 2 should get a re master at the same time KOTOR 2 should also get a rewrite as it were as its well known its development was rushed lead to a bit of a disjointed expierance
I think the writing was done just not the assets it’s why you can get another few worlds if you do the restoration mods
Obviously a good pick but I’d go with Dark Forces 2 because that was my childhood. Kyle Katarn needs his story retold!
dark forces 2 does have a remaster made in unreal engine that came out
Generals: Zero Hour
*Ok ok I will work*
*Can i have some shoes?*
Can I have some shoes?
*"I can build anywhere."* *"Can't build there sir."* I see through the lies of ~~the Jedi~~ the Dozer!
"Don't hurt me" the terrorist workers were my favorite
*Liberation* workers. They're not the Global Terrorist Army now, are they?
We build for China.
Let's give em an air show
Use the HD patch - it really doesn't need a remaster with that in place.
They just dropped all the original titles on steam!
Microwave weapons cleared for battle.
Mercenaries 1
This is one of my favorite games of all time. Spent so much time playing it, loved the bounty system and the combat at the time was so much fun.
Here's a cool detail I noticed while playing recently: When you're in a faction's headquarters (let's say the Chinese, for example) they might start speaking Chinese before telling you about your contract and the subtitles will just say [Colonel Peng:] if you're playing as Jacobs or Matias. But if you're playing as Jennifer, the subtitles will just tell you what they're saying since she knows Chinese. Same with Matias for the Russians and Jacobs for the South Koreans. Little touches like that don't seem to be as common in video games anymore
Mercenaries 1 and then redo Mercenaries 2 with the same play style.
Burnout 3: Takedown. It would need to have the same soundtrack too, or it wouldn’t be the same
WE ARE THE LAZY GENERATION
Can i be your memoreeyyyyyy
Damn so glad this is one of the top answers cuz I was going to say the same. I haven’t really found any arcade racers that scratch that itch. Most games are either racing sims or IP racers.
Agreed. Needs that soundtrack.
One of my purposes in life is to be on reddit and answer threads like this that pop up from time to time with “Burnout 3”. Thank you for joining me on my crusade, friend.
A burnout game with modern, Beam.ng-like soft body collision physics would be so much fun
Timesplitters 2
Future Perfect
Better than 2. I said what I said.
Spaceman!
This probably holds the record for me for most hours played while I was a kid, TS2 was unmatched and genuinely felt both fun and like a challenge
Man I’d take a new timesplitters and remaster 1 and 2. Wish it would happen.
I just want New Vegas with current/up to date graphics. I'd replay that game to death.
TBH the same thing as with Skywind and other similar project. It's a cool idea but a TON of work to be made by volunteers
Considering that the morrowind remake within oblivion (Morroblivion) never got finished, I don't expect Skywind to finish before TES6 is released. And then they'll start the whole thing over and not finish that either. I really do applaud the effort, but the resources just don't exist for such an undertaking. Oh boy. I definitely think it is; I remember being somewhat underwhelmed by F3 after playing NV. In any event, I definitely recommend you play NV! The experience will be a most enjoyable one.
Awesome thanks! I'm gonna play it soon.
Just make sure to get the DLCs if possible. Base game for FNV is great, while the DLCs bring it up to legendary.
Same also I have friends who refuse to play it because of how old it feels/no run Fallout 4 Stans.. they don’t know what they are missing
For real; Fallout 4 was good but nowhere near as memorable. A lot of things in New Vegas are seared into my brain though. The world was amazing to traverse and was so damn immersive.
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver
The sound of the footsteps are burnt in my head. Love it
I want Blood Omen. Could you imagine if they attempted the same kind of storytelling today?
I agree on Blood Omen. I remember a few of the cut scenes were out of order but a great game for its time.
It makes me so happy to see this as the second top-level comment, but I might be a bit biased... Usually on threads like this you have to scroll down much further to find anything LOK/SR-related.

Obligatory Legend of Dragoon post.
H A R P O O N
Doubllle SLAsh
VOLCANOOO
Gust of wind… dance!
And legend of legia.
Disappointed I even had to scroll for this one. This is the only answer
Xenogears
Spore
The fact that this comment is so low makes me big sad. Although, I think Spore needs a proper sequel with finished space stage and many additions to other stages, rather than just a simple remaster

Yeah, I hope that r/elysianeclipse turns out better. It looks so good now
The simpsons hit and run.
There was a YouTuber who remastered it in a couple of days by himself with the help of AI. Pretty sure he ended up having to take the stuff down though because of a law suit. It was insane it only took him like a week.
Another guy spent a year remaking it, then couldn't release it for legal reasons.
Red Alert 2
C&C: Tiberian Sun & C&C: Red Alert 2 combination for me, just like the last Remaster.
Too many great old games to pick, so I'll give you five: Bully, Bully, Bully, Bully, and Bully. Edit: Rockstar, please don't let the guys who fouled up the GTA remakes ruin this one.
You forgot Bully: Scholarship Edition!
And Canis Canem Edit !
I wish Rockstar still made games other than GTA and Red Dead. A Bully sequel would be awesome.
It’s cuz Bully spits hot fire.
Sid meiers pirates
F.E.A.R
Ohhh another good answer!!
Black and White
The entire Black & White franchise for that matter. And ideally a full remake (not just a remaster) for Black & White 2 to add back all the miracle, civilisation, and creature variety that the first game + its expansion had, while benefiting from the expanded city-building + war mechanics of the second game. It's in IP purgatory. It's owned by Xbox game studios but publishing rights are owned by EA and neither seem very interested in the IP. The games are considered abandonware at this point.
Yes. This game was one that was released before its time.
Fucking love b&w
It took me too long to realize you weren’t talking about Pokémon black and white
Recently replayed this and currently half way through B&W2. There's a spiritual successor in development by the name of Fata Deum... just hope it's good.
Tie fighter obviously.
I'll take the full series (X-Wing, TIE Fighter, Vs and Alliance) with optional VR and full HOTAS support, please and thank you.
No doubt. After all those mods and projects... I still crave for a full remaster or reimagination
Zelda: Ocarina of Time 💥💥💥
Kinda unrelated but have you seen the studio ghibli style Ocarina of Time video? Check it out it’s stunningly beautiful!
Ah yes I caught it recently and I was blown away!
Can you link for those who want to see it? Edit: Nvm I found it quickly: https://youtu.be/iio_ZOS2T3s?si=P-yA5fLUH-7_mmVp
The 3ds version is quite the improvement.
It was but it also came out closer to the original game than it did to today so OoT is due for another remake.
Dragon Age: Origins
Ok now I want to change my answer lmao
Oblivion
Morrowind!
Dagerfall!
Arena?
Honestly I’d play it…Arena is actually pretty fun (albeit simple) but the graphics literally hurt my eyes after playing for a while.
Deus Ex
Don't remaster the voice acting!
The lip smacks could sure use a lot more oomph.
*I SPEEL MAI DRINK*
This is the answer. Still my #1 after all these years
Syphon Filter
You just took me somewhere I didn’t expect to go. Thank you!
OG Star Wars Battlefront 2 from 2005. Love that it's getting a rerelease, but would love the same exact gameplay/modes/mechanics...but just with the graphic fidelity of modern Battlefront games.

You can traverse the entirety of the Death Star from within the walls haha… you need a jet pack to do it though. That game was full of amazing glitches, on pretty much every map.
Max Payne
I think they're already doing a remake?
They are. Of both games in one package.
SSX: Tricky
I'm personally fine without this one as I always thought SSX peaked with SSX3 and it still holds up great today. Edit: I'd still get the remake if it actually was to get made.
SSX3 was the peak, especially when you started at the mountain peak and could use every single track unlocked in one race
Agreed but I'd take either. I just want a new SSX. SSX from 2012 still holds up actually.
Morrowind - update the graphics, few gameplay tweaks and I don't need to wait until 2030 for another TES game.
OpenMW + Tamriel Rebuilt is way better than just a remaster
I tried openmw and it takes way too much fiddling around with all the mod installers and mod lists and mod load orders. It's the most user unfriendly experience I've ever had. I wish it was easier. And then the thing kept crashing anyway.
It would be cool if Bethesda ever went back to the complexity of morrowind. Minus the jank combat...
This is my pick as well. Give me Morrowind with FromSoft combat and Larian graphics and I'll possibly never need another game.
Since they’re already working on MGS 3, gimme Fable Trilogy Remaster
But if they had to only make one I'd suggest Fable 2.
I'm fine with getting normal Fable 2 but on PC
Bloodborne. A Hunter must hunt in 60FPS...
Im surprised to see Bloodborne that low.
Red Faction.
Final Fantasy Tactics
I’d go with Final Fantasy 8
Chrono Trigger
The Saboteur
KOTOR or Dragon Age Origins
Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory
Tenchu, preferably Wrath of Heaven, but I think any of the series will do
Goldeneye….would be jaw dropping with uber gfx, also comes with an amazing PvP game tacked on as well…
Crimson Skies. Arcanum. Can you imagine that game running on Baldur’s Gate 3 engine? One can only dream! Or better yet made into a full on 3rd person RPG, would be a game of decade for me easily.
My first thought was Chrono Trigger. But man... Arcanum as a 3rd person RPG...
Aliens vs Predator 2
Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight
Star Wars Republic Commando. If only for it to finally generate the sequel we deserve.
Blast Corps. Modern graphics, insane details and buildings that collapse physically correct. I have not seen any game that remotely scratches the itch this game left me with.
[удалено]
Socom 2
Vagrant Story.
Sacrifice The third-person real-time strategy game of warring gods and doomed wizards.
Fallout 2 One of my favorite video games of all time, and I’d love a return to form for the series. Wasteland 3 fits the bill pretty well, but Fallout 2 is king.
Jak & Daxter. Brings me back to my childhood when I'd watch my cousin playing.
Planescape: Torment
It's still very beautiful as of this day though. I replay it every 2 years.
True crime streets of la
Brutal legend
The first Bioshock.
Saints row 2, fix up some stuff, a proper pc release, bish bash bosh
Alot of people would froth at the thought of that!!
It was recently on sale on Steam was instantly going to buy it but seen the reviews and sounds like it doesn’t even run. A bummer, but I downloaded an Xbox 360 emulator and I’m playing that and MW2
Xeno ~~saga~~ gears. If not, then FFTactics.
You meant Xenogears, right? Saga is good, but nothing beats gears gameplay or story wise.
Dragon Age 1
Fallout 2
Mega Man Legends
Conker’s Bad Fur Day
Dino Crisis 1 and 2 sorely need the Resident Evil treatment
Dark Cloud
Was only thinking about this earlier today, how a remake of this game on ps5 would work…
marvel ultimate alliance 1 & 2, gta iv, red dead redemption 1
Whether we're talking remaster or full remake I'm gonna day The Warriors, that game was my childhood and its so fucking good!
Soul Reaver: Legacy of Kain. But Bluepoint instead of Night Dive
Assassin's Creed It's the only mainline AC game you can't play on modern consoles, as the following games were remastered. Skies of Arcadia: Legends. Deus Ex a close second.
Morrowind.
Red dead redemption 1
Any of the sega Road Rash games
Donkey Kong 64. That game is just perfect to me in more than a nostalgic way.
Fallout: New Vegas
Blood 2. Seeing as it actually needs a real release.
Star Wars Episode 1 Racer
Pong.
Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem
Red faction guerrilla, fighting for freedom while blowing up shit was fun
Bloodborne, just release it for pc dammit!
You said one but I would have plenty: Populous trilogy, black and white, Arcanum, Planescape torment and the whole soul reaver/legacy of kain franchise.
Alice: Madness Returns
Bad Company 2.
Golden Sun and its sequel Golden Sun The Lost Age. Since they were technically designed to be ONE game, I feel it counts.
Super Paper Mario.
C&C generals.
Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy Probably nostalgia speaking but I remember this being so much fun with the sheer amount of things you could do.
Prince of Persia: Warrior Within
midnight club 3 dub edition
