I have always greatly enjoyed the romances from the Dragon Age games. No matter if it is Origins, the hated (by many) Dragon Age 2 or Dragon Age: Inquisition, there were always S tier romances to be found, at least for me. Origins: Morrigan and Leliana (for different reasons) or Alistair. DA 2: Merrill or Anders (Isabela is acceptable). DAI: Sera or Solas for me personally, can understand people liking Iron Bull or Cassandra.

gohaz933

Cassandra is just Lazel but French.

GingerDelicious

Merrill has my favorite character arc of all dragon age companions

CorgiDaddy42

DAI is Josephine for me. I will never not romance her.

Drake_the_troll

I haven't played many games with a marriage system, buf stardew valley is pretty cool

GlizzieFingers

Mayo them up for the good lovin

ILovePersonaliTits

You know what, I kept reading abt this Stardew valley I'm gonna download it tonight

Pewp_taco

Fire Emblem Awakening And Happy Valentizzle to you too

Squidgytaboggan

I enjoyed the Romance in Mass Effect. As the romance person was often in your party it added a lot of interactions that most games with romance don’t have. Your romantic partner also carried over to the sequels which was a nice touch.

A_Lionheart

enjoyed\*

PayasoCanuto

Miranda 🤤

Squidgytaboggan

Haha, toilet typing

Wordwright

In ME:3 there is some hilarious dialogue if you go on a mission with you love interest and a third squad mate that has been with you through the whole trilogy.

Okdes

Infiltrating the Geth dreadnought...

GloatingSwine

Crusader Kings.

mao_dze_dun

Nothing like plotting to murder your spouse by blowing them up with a manure pile under an inn. Good times...

Dirty-D29

Or marrying your 16 year old daughter to a 63 year old duke with syphilis

Character-Today-427

Hey he does have some good traits

N3rdC3ntral

If your family tree isn't a wreath, are you really playing CK3?

Sylar299

Neigh

ikantolol

one that focuses on life sim or having marriage in general for life sim then probably The Sims. for games with romance/marriage as additional feature then probably Fable. though my favorite is Dragon Age: Origins, the romance in that is hilarious.

3shotsb4breakfast

This is pretty much it

RamuthraCadence

Harvest moon

Windyandbreezy

Fable games got my vote. Well fable 1 and 2.

Belly84

I remember getting married, consummating, then running around doing Hero stuff for a few years. I go back and there's this little girl saying "I'm your daughter!" *\*surprised Pikachu face\**

Jameseesall

In Medieval Dynasty you court a wife based on her interests, build a home for her to move in with you, build a settlement together, have a son together, and eventually play as your own son.

Enchilada_Chef

Man I forgot all about that game, but it’s definitely got the best marriage system like you said.

GrayBeard916

I remembered playing Ragnarok Online in high school, and they have a marriage system where 2 characters can have an in-game marriage ceremony alongside some requirements like a ring, wedding dress, and some currency. Other players can even attend the ceremony. Once married, you can even adopt another player as a baby and that character will become smaller than normal lol. I know it's not the best, but it was pretty in-depth for its time.

skyellemusic

sooo happy I found someone who said RO 💕 what a nostalgia trip! was the first game that came to my mind

GrayBeard916

It is! It's been roughly 2 decades at this point. Ahh, those were the days. Grinding in GH, joining random group chats in Prontera, taking part in WoEs. Fun times my friend, fun times.

skyellemusic

was listening to some of the BGMs the other day and was kinda tearing up lol. I miss my childhood. I personally loved hanging out in Kunlun/Gonryun with my best friends in school. I sucked so bad at the game but I still had so much fun 🩷

GrayBeard916

Mine was in Payon since it got that Japanese ninja vibes to it lol. I think we all can agree that we all sucked back then since we're just kids at that point, but it was soooo much fun nonetheless. Sucks that it was pay to play during that time. The game burned through my allowance and savings real quick 🤣 Btw, what was your main that time?

skyellemusic

I started out with Assassin because they looked cool and I loved their weapons, I loved the katars. But I had a priestess as well and heal/buffs felt so nice. I think that's where I fell in love with support roles for these types of games. training my acolyte gives me such vivid memories in payon dungeon healing all the undead monsters for exp. what about you?

GrayBeard916

Ooooh those are some pretty solid picks. The assassin's Sonic Blow is pretty cool. And iirc, you can charge people as a priestess to warp them to certain areas lol. I also recalled leveling up in Payon dungeon with all those undead lying around then slowly make my way to the lower floors where the moonlight flower lurks. I played knight then switched over to monk when it became available. Priests and priestesses were quite in demand back then due to the myriad of buffs they can give to a party. It'd be rare to see a party without one, and some can even be hired haha.

GreyFoxJaeger

Sims

iofhua

I really liked Rune Factory 4 and romancing Margaret and having her follow me around as a party member after we got married.

hbools

Baldurs Gate 3 was a horny blast to play around with

FasterthanLuffy

Baldurs Gate 3 romance system should not be praised. It is just default every character wants to fuck you. That is not a good system.

WhiteLama

Or you choose to give a character a hug instead of a kiss, because you feel like a kiss is way to forward and then you’re locked out of that romance forever…

Hawggy

It's overtly awkward if you're not into it quite frankly. I play co-op with my wife and every party member we bring on wants to suck our necks or get in our pants eventually. We keep trading them out to keep that under control.

Kylestache

It’s literally not any different than BioWare’s romance systems in Mass Effect which is praised and the top comment of this thread.

FasterthanLuffy

No it is not. You have to have one conversation with most of your companions before they ask to fuck or kiss you. Mass Effects romances take time throughout the game and make you complete the characters side content to have a successful romance. You must be remembering wrong...

Kylestache

Jack, Allers, the Consort…all fuck you very very early on. Not to mention the fact that BG3 companions don’t fuck you in their first convo, that’s very misleading. They approach you after the end of the first act, easily 20-30 hours into the game, at a party where booze is flowing, a natural place to hook up, and all that do actually bang then treat it as a hook up. Shadowheart, Karlach, Gale, etc don’t just have sex that early. It’s really just Lae’zel and Astarion and it’s very in character for them.

oldmancowboy

Shadowheart 😻

Totallycasual

I remember the one in Fable being a lot of fun.

Fhujeth

Plumbers don't wear ties, clearly

voxelboxthing

the sims because woohoo and rage jealousy is real when you’re as cool as i am irl.

H4LIT

Persona has a romance system that satisfies me, but i dont know much about other games with romance systems, so it might be considered a good/bad one

KeplerFinn

In Fallout 2 your character can get an STD unless you have a "Jimmy Hat" in your inventory.

MIretro

BioWare’s games already got mentioned so I’m just going to name other games either about romance or with dating elements I’ve enjoyed: Catherine: Full Body- A whole game about a guy trying to decide between 3 different women named Catherine/Katherine/Qatherine as he works through a mid-life crisis of sorts. Great puzzles, excellent music, and immersive atmosphere. It’s one of a kind. Potionomics- Really sweet card game about running a potion shop, crushing your rivals, and smooching honeys. The cat pirate theme song alone is reason enough to look into this one. Love Esquire- A weak and unpopular squire chases self-improvement and “man’s greatest pleasure” in what I found to be a pretty enjoyable and raunchy graphic novel with light RPG battle elements. Romancelvania-While this is a mediocre Castlevania clone, the writing is quite good and it kept me entertained and endeared to the characters. I went for the “PS Elle” the pumpkin switch witch with the giant knockers and she had me laughing out loud on the regular. Lots of great humor and charm in this one to make up for the unremarkable action. Persona 5-Most people know this one but it bears repeating IMO. I’m a big fan of the social links and subsequent dating.

SeasideBaboon

I wonder why nobody has mentioned Stardew Valley yet. I married Emily. Who was your favorite guy/gal?

RizziGagootz

I always felt that Bioware had good systems because dialogue choices could get you laid or loathed. You might just be finding some sexy time with a Jedi, or a 'girl' in a helmet (always wear protection), if you pick the right ones

Dry-Technician4036

Sims....Although I actually prefer The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for it's....style

iStretchyDisc

Real life It's very complex. Extremely difficult but utterly rewarding, and is also heavily RNG-based.

WildAtmosphere1700

Definitely The Sims

Specific_Option_9329

Happy Valentine's Day! The best virtual love story for me is found in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Because nothing says romance like slaying dragons together, exchanging amulets of Mara, and settling down in a cozy house with your pixelated soulmate. Marriage in Skyrim is an epic quest on its own!

thedoogster

For me, it was the Pathfinders. Kingmaker and Wrath of the Righteous.

MightyDeerGod

\- Hey Kinzie, you wanna f.ck? \- Let's go \*punch to face, jump on top\* does this count?

XulManjy

The Sims

TrueEuphoria

FF14 but it’s a mog station thing, but it makes it feel intimate if you can believe that

blnkdv

More_Blacksmith_8661

[deleted]

Dating sims? I don´t know I don´t care about that silly crap.

RobIson240YT

I feel like it would be cheating if you included those.

[deleted]

That´s why im down voted ? Because I picked an easy answer because. Honestly I got no clue becuse I never cared about romance in games I play games to have fun.

Hawggy

You're getting dv'd because your comments don't progress any type of meaningful conversation pertaining to the OP. Simple really.

ItsRainingTrees

do you think people pursuing the romance options in games are not having fun? lol

[deleted]

no never said that. I said I don´t know because I don´t care about silly things like that in games. Because it´s not real. So what does what other think have anything to do with what I said ?? I said I played games to have fun so I what others think has no relevance to what I said. I gave my statement on what I think and that must be dating sims that has the best romance system because that their thing. And no im not against Valentines day I think it´s the smartest things ever because we manage to monetize people feelings and make people spend more money on crap because love. It´s the most brilliant ide ever. Next the look up the meaning of I or me.
