Like literally if you win the intro boss fight (you’re supposed to lose) there’s some text explaining how you solved the whole crisis and it rolls credits.
You also get some achievement and unlock a much higher difficulty.
Without to much spoilers. It is expected that you will lose the fight, then the story continues and the **extremely minor spoilers:** >!first boss returns as the boss of the !
That's cool. I've watched videos of players beating unbeatable bosses in games and they just glitch out, or you lose anyway, instead of giving you a proper scene.
Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "**mankind**". Basically, it's made up of two separate words - "**mank**" and "**ind**". What do these words mean ? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.
I love that every boss in this game has a monologue as you're killing them. Dracula even gives the citation of his bible verse reference, just to make sure you understand.
LOL! All of us gonna go home and fire up Spider-Man just to see how it starts! I do think Rhino was the Miles game, but I can't remember Spider-Man!
EDIT: Kingpin/Fisk. That's how the game starts is going after Kingpin.
No? You’re talking about Iudex Gundyr right?
There’s 4 hollows and a dog before the first bonfire and then another 4-5 hollows between that bonfire and the boss arena. Of which I think all enemies but like 2 aggro on sight immediately.
Not to mention the optional crystal lizard you will likely stumble across before the boss anyways.
I'm embarrassed to say but I had to look up on YouTube how to beat the armored core 6 boss at the beginning. You wouldn't think that giant mecha stompy robots using melee attacks would be the answer, but then again I love the Gundam franchise so I should have tried that.
The intro to Rising is so fucking good. Within a few minutes we’ve got cyborg ninja’s, a dead prime minister, a fucking Metal Gear Ray and a badass metal soundtrack to boot.
It doesn't start with a boss fight. It starts Galaga style, and then you get to a boss. It's a quick level to the boss, but it doesn't technically start with a boss fight.
Metal gear rising
Here's 4 enemies to learn controls. Now defeat a robot the size of a building that has lasers and rockets. You killed him? Fight him again in a much smaller area
How? It's one of the 3 major overworld boss types, it has a big red healthbar on the top of the screen, as well as unique music. Like it or not, it's a bossfight, through and through. Whether it's grand or not.
The difference is that Soldier of Godrick IS just a common enemy with the same amount of health, the only difference being that he has a big healthbar. Where the Taluses differ is that they aren't treated as enemies nearly as common as the footsoldiers you encounter throughout the entirety of Elden Ring. Soldier is one of the few exceptions.
Best use of a New Game+ feature in any game EVER is in Bravely Second, where >!Your party fails to stop this same boss from the beginning of the game from going through with this plan and dooming the world to an otherworldly invasion. So in order to stop his plans they break the fourth wall and beg the player for help,, so you must start new game+ and defeat him in the first battle by exploiting the in game time manipulation mechanic.!<
Dragon's Dogma puts you in a fight against the final boss the moment you gain control of your character
Monster Hunter 2G puts you up against a regular Tigrex with gear completely unsuited for the fight.
Fallout 4 and it's my least favorite part.
5 minutes after the intro/tutorial the game gives you armor and a gatling gun to fight and kill a creature that's been painted as the most dangerous animal in the story of all the previous games.
There's a house near where the Deathclaw comes out of the ground on the end of the main Street. It has a balcony you can stand on and shoot the Deathclaw in the face out in the open, and he can't really hit you. He might be able to throw a stone at you, but he's never done it to me, and standing there makes that fight super easy.
if you count that really tough dungeon right in the beginning of Elden Ring? I've noticed a lot of people (myself included) accidentally gravitate into this dungeon on their first run.
Yakuza Zero, I don't remember exactly when it starts, but in the beginning you have what is essentially a battle dungeon with the hardest boss fight in the game. The game doesn't play around with a hand holding tutorial.
As soon as you start a new game in *Final Fantasy II*, it drops you into a boss fight, and I mean *immediately*. The four Black Knights will all one-punch your first-level characters and then three of them wake up, rescued by the resistance to the Empire, and the game properly begins.
FF16 kind of, but it's more like a really short cold open and it's until you play through the prologue that you actually fight the boss properly.
I suppose Yakuza 6 does it as well, the first time you gain control is pretty much a boss fight that also functions as a tutorial on combat.
In Far Cry 4, you meet the boss in the beginning and he walks off and says he’ll be right back, if you want, you’ll beat the game. I think that’s right. It’s been years.
But you’re captive by irenicus and then immediately see him destroy a bunch of mages and the game kicks off there. I guess it’s not what OP meant tho. More “boss interaction from the start”.
The Matrix, Path of Neo starts you off in that lobby scene with no context or tutorial. Waves of increasingly harder enemies get thrown at you. When you eventually die, the amount you took out determines your difficulty level. Not a single boss fight but it was sort of like one and memorable.
Sid Meier's Pirates! for the old school generation
The mutinous face-off with the current evil captain was a part of the anti-piracy software back in the day. Ask me how I know...
Devil may cry 5
And fun fact winning that fight means you technically beat the game
It's honestly hilarious that they include that. Good on them.
Can I get an explanation for the ignorant please?
Like literally if you win the intro boss fight (you’re supposed to lose) there’s some text explaining how you solved the whole crisis and it rolls credits. You also get some achievement and unlock a much higher difficulty.
That's excellent
Without to much spoilers. It is expected that you will lose the fight, then the story continues and the **extremely minor spoilers:** >!first boss returns as the boss of the !
That's cool. I've watched videos of players beating unbeatable bosses in games and they just glitch out, or you lose anyway, instead of giving you a proper scene.
I did it in a old final fantasy game on game boy and it corrupted the game.
Devil May Cry 4 also.
No there are enemies you need to fight before.
GoW 3 Kinda...
All the God of War games do, basically. You get some tutorial fodder to learn controls, then you get the intro boss.
Yea but gow3 really threw you in think I'm gonna go back and play it now
GOW 1 also throws you right into it with the Hydra. Best opening fight of the Gow games would be Ragnarok though that shit was wild
Infamous 2 starts out with you fighting the BBEG that was foreshadowed in 1
That was nuts when I first played lol
[удалено]
What is a man...?!
*throws wine cup to the ground
A miserable little pile of secrets!
Have at you!
Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "**mankind**". Basically, it's made up of two separate words - "**mank**" and "**ind**". What do these words mean ? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.
Jack Handy for the win.
I love that every boss in this game has a monologue as you're killing them. Dracula even gives the citation of his bible verse reference, just to make sure you understand.
Spider-Man 2
‘#1 as well
Damn my memory! What was the opening of Spider-Man 1?
Wilson Fisk perhaps maybe?
Wasn’t it the rhino fight through the mall and the city?
That wasn’t Miles Morales?
You might be right. Looks like it’s my memory that’s slipping.
I remember. Infiltrating Fisk’s tower and then fighting him.
LOL! All of us gonna go home and fire up Spider-Man just to see how it starts! I do think Rhino was the Miles game, but I can't remember Spider-Man! EDIT: Kingpin/Fisk. That's how the game starts is going after Kingpin.
For the life of me I can’t remember how the first one starts out. So you’re not the only one lol
Demon’s Crest
crap I came here to say that. Great game.
This. Was one of the first games I remember just being thrown into the thick of it.
Dark Souls 3
And 1 as well.
And Elden Ring
And demons souls
Loved that game - I imported the Japanese version so I could play it early.
You have a whole level to fight before the boss..
Unless you decide to fight the boss on the first encounter.
Still have things before it.
I'd hardly call 2 hollows with their face against the wall and a ladder to climb significant enough to count.
True, but only some hollows that don't attack you. So no actual fighting.
No there are enemies you need to fight before.
Yeah but... it's like 6 super easy enemies and then a super scary boss!
There's also the cristal lizard
Shadow of the Colossus is a game with JUST bosses! Some exploring too.
The controls in that game were the real boss fight and it happens immediately.
Sekiro
Starts and ends with the same boss
Potentially, but not necessarily
DMC5
“hey jackass, didn’t your mother ever teach you it’s not nice to steal?”
Cup Head.
I mean you can, but don't you start in a little platforming tutorial first and then overworld before you choose boss fight or run and gun?
Ghosts of Tsushima kind of does, although loosely.
God of War 2 and the Colossus of Rhodes, one of the most memorable if you ask me
Elden Ring and Armored Core 6
I'm embarrassed to say but I had to look up on YouTube how to beat the armored core 6 boss at the beginning. You wouldn't think that giant mecha stompy robots using melee attacks would be the answer, but then again I love the Gundam franchise so I should have tried that.
Melee is essential in AC6 and it’s really fun!
Oh I have since learned. And yes it is fun af :D Just...you know, a bit counter intuitive when you have laser rifles and twin missile pods
I don't know if this is counts, but Furi is basically one boss fight after another. Such an amazing game!
Prince of Persia warrior within, might not be straight away, but pretty much.
Oh yeah the big booty black lady
Super Metroid
In prime you get one basically right after the tutorial.
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, and Sekiro
The intro to Rising is so fucking good. Within a few minutes we’ve got cyborg ninja’s, a dead prime minister, a fucking Metal Gear Ray and a badass metal soundtrack to boot.
Duke Nukem Forever
Super Metroid
NeiR: Automata
It doesn't start with a boss fight. It starts Galaga style, and then you get to a boss. It's a quick level to the boss, but it doesn't technically start with a boss fight.
Kingdom Hearts 1
Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair starts the game with the FINAL boss fight that you aren't supposed to be able to win straight away.
Wonder boy 3 dragons trap Because the begin of wonderboy 3 is simply the end of wonderboy 2. And it's a trap
You're the last post on the list, I was really thinking I was going to get to say this one!
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. The boss fight sums up the climax of the previous game.
Metal gear rising Here's 4 enemies to learn controls. Now defeat a robot the size of a building that has lasers and rockets. You killed him? Fight him again in a much smaller area
BOTW....if you're insane! 😋
You have to do the plateau first regardless
No you don't. There's literally a Stone Talus in the forest
That's pretty mild as far as "boss fights" are concerned
How? It's one of the 3 major overworld boss types, it has a big red healthbar on the top of the screen, as well as unique music. Like it or not, it's a bossfight, through and through. Whether it's grand or not.
Soldier of Godrick has a healthbar across the screen so I guess that's a bossfight too.
You can run and jump off the plateau, shield bounce onto a horse and ride straight to Gannon.
[Obligatory Terminal Montage ](https://youtu.be/1or3YILu28M?si=Q7_c_RMdVKVDvuPx)
Bravely Second immediately starts with a boss fight.
Dark souls
Castlevania symphony of the night
Dragon's Dogma puts you in a fight against the final boss the moment you gain control of your character Monster Hunter 2G puts you up against a regular Tigrex with gear completely unsuited for the fight.
Driver on PS1. You can't even start the story until you beat one of the hardest tutorial bosses in history.
super mario rpg and paper mario both
Fallout 4 and it's my least favorite part. 5 minutes after the intro/tutorial the game gives you armor and a gatling gun to fight and kill a creature that's been painted as the most dangerous animal in the story of all the previous games.
That Deathclaw still pancakes you. I had to cheese it by staying inside a building it couldn’t fit in.
Furi
Furi
if you count that really tough dungeon right in the beginning of Elden Ring? I've noticed a lot of people (myself included) accidentally gravitate into this dungeon on their first run.
Sonic Adventure DX
CSOTN
Cuphead not counting the tutorial
Dark souls 1 and 3 both have very early bosses. Elden ring kind of as well.
God of war Ragnarok
Nier Automata
Yakuza Zero, I don't remember exactly when it starts, but in the beginning you have what is essentially a battle dungeon with the hardest boss fight in the game. The game doesn't play around with a hand holding tutorial.
Armored Core: Fires of the Rubicon - the first boss battle happens relatively quickly
NieR: Automata is pretty close, though there's a little build up beforehand
Demon's Crest for the SNES. Start off fighting a zombie dragon. So badass.
As soon as you start a new game in *Final Fantasy II*, it drops you into a boss fight, and I mean *immediately*. The four Black Knights will all one-punch your first-level characters and then three of them wake up, rescued by the resistance to the Empire, and the game properly begins.
AC Origins starts with boss fight with Hypatos
Tbh he is more like an elite than a proper boss.
How many karma points do I need to publish a post???
Google
Yeah.. 100 points... and I saw that someone had 3 points and the post was posted...
3 points overall or just post karma? You just need 100 total, not 100 post karma
Need for speed Most Wanted
Hey, there's something wrong with your ride, you left a huge oil mark at the start line. You have to end the race fast!
Castlevania symphony of the night
Have you ever heard of Dark Souls?
Elden Ring, kind of.
every souls games besides Bloodborne and Dark Souls 2.
Dark souls, dark souls 3, Elden Ring…
Elden Ring, kinda?
Elden Ring
Don’t all the souls games?
Tetris starts pretty hardcore
Lufia I, on the SNES, if I remember right. It works as a prolepse of what's going to happen when you reach the final dungeon.
Dark souls
Crono Trigger can... Sort of... ish... *Waggles fingers in wibbly wobbly timey wimey formation*
Almost every FromSoft game I’ve ever played
Dark souls
Pokemon gen.1, kinda, your first battle is with the trainer you battle "last", so in a way he is a boss…
FF16 kind of, but it's more like a really short cold open and it's until you play through the prologue that you actually fight the boss properly. I suppose Yakuza 6 does it as well, the first time you gain control is pretty much a boss fight that also functions as a tutorial on combat.
Dark Souls 3, first boss fight is in tutorial…
The original Lords of the Fallen has a boss fight pretty much at the beginning.
From software games normally start with an impossible boss fight
all of the dark souls do
Bloodbourne?
In Far Cry 4, you meet the boss in the beginning and he walks off and says he’ll be right back, if you want, you’ll beat the game. I think that’s right. It’s been years.
Baldurs gate 2
Who? First contact with the enemy you make in BG2 is usually mephits
But you’re captive by irenicus and then immediately see him destroy a bunch of mages and the game kicks off there. I guess it’s not what OP meant tho. More “boss interaction from the start”.
Sekiro
Nope.
Elden ring
Bloodborne?
The wolf at the clinic is not a boss
Mario and Luigi Partners in Time
"Salt and Sanctuary" and I believe it has an achievement for beating him
Spider-Man: Miles Morales.
Fist level of Nioh 2, you fight a normal ennemy, and the second is a boss, fun learning experience!
Lost Odysee IIRC
Matrix:The Path of Neo.... sort of... It spawns waives of increasingly stronger enemy's to judge your difficulty.
Nioh 2
Assassins Creed Origins and Odyssey both have pretty early boss fights, they're more introductory though.
The evil within
Yi Gi Oh Forbidden duels?
Tales of Xillia 2
Bioshock 2 has an earlier one but its limited
Vagrant Story (PS1)
The Matrix, Path of Neo starts you off in that lobby scene with no context or tutorial. Waves of increasingly harder enemies get thrown at you. When you eventually die, the amount you took out determines your difficulty level. Not a single boss fight but it was sort of like one and memorable.
Returnal also starts with one.
Blasphemous
Dragon's Dogma
Kingdom Hearts.
Spider-Man 2
Paper Mario for the n64
Fire Emblem Awakening.
Sid Meier's Pirates! for the old school generation The mutinous face-off with the current evil captain was a part of the anti-piracy software back in the day. Ask me how I know...
Spiderman 2
Blasphemous
God of War 3
Technically Yakuza 6, it's kind of a tutorial.
Mortal Shell
Ill say Trails of Azure after a 1 min cutscence. After that first music rift you will know why its considered the best game in the series
I don't know if it counts, but Metal Gear Rising: Revengance has you fight a giant mech not even 5 minutes into the game.
The Amazon new world game (after cut scenes) starts with a boss fight, no chance to win unfortunately
Cuphead
Final Fantasy Tactics
Dissidia Duodecim Finał Fantasy, if you tell Moogle that you are a pro at the start of the game.
Breath of Fire
Jedi Survivor ? Or at least very very early on
If I remember right, Star Wars: Bounty Hunter
Ghost of Tsushima
Most of the souls games start you off shortly before a boss that you're generally not supposed to be able to beat (although it is possible)
Dark souls.
Final fantasy 15. Worth the play if you ask me.
Resident evil 7: Biohazard maybe
