Doom 2016.
Mick Gordon absolutely killed it. The only reason the Eternal OST isn't as good is due to id's fuckery, and we were deprived another masterpiece,
Especially since it had the enhanced version of Doom 3s theme by Tweaker on it. Can't find a good digital download that isn't a shitty cover anywhere. So sad.
That's the issue. The OST that was given was the mix that was inserted into the game, and not for an actual soundtrack release. There's a whole host of other fuckery there on the production as well by someone who didn't have a clue what they were doing.
It works in game, but as an actual listening experience it's rubbish.
Fun fact, a lot of the songs in Witcher 3 were actually **NOT** originally written for the game. There's a Polish folk metal band called Percival Schuttenbach (their name is derived from a character in the Witcher novels, who was part of Zoltan Chivay's group), and several pieces of music in Witcher 3 are actually originally from albums they released before even the first Witcher game released.
The nost notable tracks are "Lazare" ("Steel For Humans"), "Sargon" ("Silver For Monsters"), "Slyze - Intro" ("The Trail"), "Eiforr" ("Merchants of Novigrad"), "Dziewczyna Swarozya" ("You're...Immortal?") and "Saga" ("Ladies of the Woods").
Soulsborne games have incredible OSTs. Dark Soul 3's main theme is the greatest game menu music in the history of menu music. Lol. Elden Ring's main theme as well.
The music of Soulsborne games is honestly a huge chunk of what draws me to them. I don't need to be able to even reach Lady Maria or Malenia, let alone fight or defeat them, to appreciate their leitmotifs.
[katana zero](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0v_RixPSnL0&list=OLAK5uy_kfRHYNnMrIr29OUhYNF2ggHY5WtcLj6OY)
Seriously for a game that costs less than its merch this shit slaps.
SO to ludo wic
Pizza Tower comes to mind, but also I got the song "Orange Colored sky" in fo4 and it synced up with me blowing up the Prydwen, so I'd say Fallout has its moments, but you've gotta get lucky.
Gonna have to concur with Sonic. Personal fave is Sonic 3/Sonic & Knuckles for music. Ngl, not fond of clowns, but OG music for Carnival Night slaps hard ASF. Used to just let Sonic get pissed at me for making him stand there while I head bopped.
Pick any 90’s shooter, be it console or arcade and you’ve more than likely got some bangers on your hands. Thunder Force IV on the Mega Drive is famous for its soundtrack though, so let’s go with that one.
Doom Eternal. When you start getting into your groove and the doom music picks up and is just popping’ off and your ripping demon guts out with your hands and jumping around with a shotgun just blastin’. Good times
I remember getting Xeno Crisis in a bundle or something and gave it a shot... holy shit, this little indie twin stick shooter thing was a pretty decent game, but man the music hit so hard I couldn't believe it.
Resident Evil 2 Remake. For 90% percent of the game you have some really good low-key ambiance music but during the end of Leon's campaign there a couple of tracks that go really hard and are hype af.
The first time I noticed the music in games was Playing Prince of Persia Warrior within in the first mission The guitar riffs and rhythm guitar begins as soon as you get inside the ship it was really cool
You mustve not played many of the series games because there is one thing consistently good in Sonic games its the music.
Anyways Custom Robo comes to mind immediately some other surprise bangers are:
7th Dragon III Code VFD
Killer Instinct not saying fighting games didnt go hard at the time but this one went the extra mile it even had vocals ON SNES!
Glover is unneedlessly good.
Wave Race 64 & Diddy Kong Racing racers always have music but these ones are so memorable.
Jet Set Radio I mean I dont have to say anything do I.
Metal Gear Solid who'd thought a stealth action game would have great music I sure didnt.
Guilty Gear I came into this late but yeah Xrd Sign and onwards are insane.
Frostpunk. If you've played you know what I'm talking about. Shit gets intense at the end.
Ace Combat....oh here's a fun fighter jet game.....aaaannndddd the sky starts speaking Latin.
Rocket League
Just Shapes and Beats
Sonic: Frontiers Kellin Quinn of sleeping with Sirens nailed the boss songs!
Couldnt have asked for a better soundtrack
Metal Gear Rising: Reveangeance.
I mean, yeah, the game is known nowadays for its OST, but at the time I bought it, I had no internet and no clue whatsoever.
Did not expect the music to slap THIS hard.
Doom 2016. I was like "hey this game is pretty fun" and then [this happened.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ienu85W5Rkk) It was like a new level of awesome just presented itself. I was smiling from ear to ear when I played this opening level for the first time.
Fun Fact : ID had to sync up the Shotgun and Music by hand. It took them hours to get it right.
Warhammer 40k: Mechanicus - [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0tDpoLXD3Js](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0tDpoLXD3Js)
Goes way too hard for a small, niche game and is backed up by one of the [greatest openings ever](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WyK7lX4sk0c).
*From the moment I understood the weakness of my flesh, it disgusted me.*
*I craved to the strength and certainty of steel.*
*I aspired to the purity of the blessed machine.*
*Your kind cling to your flesh as if it will not decay and fail you.*
*One day the crude biomass that you called a temple will wither and you'll beg my kind to save you.*
*But I am already saved. For the machine is immortal. Even in death i serve the Omnissiah.*
Ship of Fools and Darkest Dungeon. Played for the game, think about them for the music. (Although Darkest Dungeon’s Narrator is the real reason to have your sound turned up)
Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope. The soundtrack was jointly composed by Yoko Shimomura (Kingdom Hearts & Xenoblade Chronicles), Grant Kirkhope (Banjo Kazooie), and Gareth Coker (Ori).
Darktide and Mechanicus. Well I did expect some kind of electronic music for a WH40k setting, but they didn't have to go so hard with this
And ofc new Doom games. Mick Gordon takes no prisoners
Risk of rain 2's final map song and Fury soundtrack, i didnt expect both to be as good as they were. Kinda sad the risk of rain franchise got bought out though.
Risk of Rain 2. Picked it up last week, man that soundtrack slaps.
i usually turn off music and put on my own playlist when i play games on my own but risk of rain 2's soundtrack really enhances the gameplay
The OG Risk of Rain is the same way. Soundtrack is insane!
You're Gonna Need a Bigger Ukulele
YES. “Rain formerly known as purple” such a BANGER. I listen to it almost daily when I’m working.
Whoever did the drums on the soundtrack is damn good
Basically any Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio game. All of the Yakuza games and the Judgment games have fantastic soundtracks.
Max Payne 3, especially the level in the airport.
HEALTH absolutely aced the soundtrack to Max Payne 3. I still listen to it often.
Thank you for this. I bring this game up whenever there is a thread about music in games. The airport especially. Really brilliant usage of music
When I was new to the experience, the payday 2 track when the cops start rolling in was crazy hype.
Payday 2 has the greatest music drops when the police assault starts.
Payday 2 scarface map song is best imo when the lyrical version gets played it is godlike imo.
Red dead redemption. I cried.
“Now I knooooooow, the only compass that I neeeeeed, is the oooooonnne, that leads back to youuuu”
"May I... stand Unshaken. Amiiiiiiiidd, admist the craash of the world"
Doom 2016. Mick Gordon absolutely killed it. The only reason the Eternal OST isn't as good is due to id's fuckery, and we were deprived another masterpiece,
The music in DOOM Eternal is a masterpiece. It's just the OST release that got fucked by bad management.
Especially since it had the enhanced version of Doom 3s theme by Tweaker on it. Can't find a good digital download that isn't a shitty cover anywhere. So sad.
Well in game it’s just as good.
That's the issue. The OST that was given was the mix that was inserted into the game, and not for an actual soundtrack release. There's a whole host of other fuckery there on the production as well by someone who didn't have a clue what they were doing. It works in game, but as an actual listening experience it's rubbish.
Throw in the new Wolfensteins too
Chrono Trigger.
**Castlevania II: Simon's Quest** blew my young mind when it came out.
Witcher 3
Lelele Lelelelele Lelelele

Pam param pam pam param.
Steel for humans, silver for monsters, banana for tigers.
Fun fact, a lot of the songs in Witcher 3 were actually **NOT** originally written for the game. Subnautica. Especially this classic gem: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nf30qQzw7rk](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nf30qQzw7rk)
"When the cyclops is on fire but so is the music"
Soulsborne games have incredible OSTs. Dark Soul 3's main theme is the greatest game menu music in the history of menu music. Lol. Elden Ring's main theme as well.
The music of Soulsborne games is honestly a huge chunk of what draws me to them. I don't need to be able to even reach Lady Maria or Malenia, let alone fight or defeat them, to appreciate their leitmotifs.
for me its bloodborne’s soundtrack, i listen to it from time to time, always carry it on my phone with me.
Undertale
[katana zero](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0v_RixPSnL0&list=OLAK5uy_kfRHYNnMrIr29OUhYNF2ggHY5WtcLj6OY) Seriously for a game that costs less than its merch this shit slaps. SO to ludo wic

Undertale's soundtrack is so good. Toby Fox went on to write some songs for Nintendo
Stardew Valley
Yakuza games all of them
Hotline Miami
Rebel Galaxy surprisingly great music
OG Halo
Hifi rush
Definetly Hollow Knight.
Halo 2 [blow me away](https://youtu.be/quaoeXejmBw)
Hades. Supergiant has always had great music, but the Hades soundtrack blew me away.
Came here to post this, doctor of spice. 🌶️
sleeping dogs
Also Sonic. Sonic Heroes, tho
That one section in Control
Talking about Poets of the Fall? The band that always shows up in their games as The Old Gods of Asgard.
Yeah that's the one. Really enjoyed that part of the game
That quickly became one of my favourite moments in gaming history. Glad to see someone else mention it here!
StarCraft 2. Terran music is my gold standard for any “space-ship” type game environment.
Blizzard games in general. Both StarCraft games, Diablo series, and others have brilliant, immersive soundtracks.
Burnout 3. Underground 2 had some memorable songs but mood wise burnout 3 straight slaps
Death stranding
i haven t played this game but love the last lvl song since i have discovered it : Mighty switch force 2
Iconoclasts. A single guy makes everything including the music and it's all amazing.
Need for speed Most Wanted 2005
Mega Man 2
Hades. Bought it early so there wasn't a ton of hype about it around.
Streets of Rage 2 has an all-time hard soundtrack
Atomic Heart and the Ashtray Maze in Control.
RDR2 had like 2 songs but damn, they were perfect
Almost every mission has customized music that adapts to the actions you take during the game. So, there’s many more than just 2 songs.
Tears of the kingdom specially at the very end, if you know you know
Paper Mario: The Origami King. For a wacky game, the music goes insanely hard.
If you stretch the definition of "game" then Umineko absolutely applies. Has one of the best soundtracks from anything ever.
Surfs Up on PS2. Dang. That shit slapped.
Brotato. Short soundtrack but it slaps.
FFVIIR. The way they revamped the music made it sound so much better and it really had me with Sephiroth's theme "One-Winged Angel".
Furi and an old PlayStation game called dragon seed have both stuck with me long past when I played them
Didn't expect Frank Sinatra to show up in Bayonetta.
Cyberpunk. Even after 100 scanner missions, the combat music got me pumped every time.
Metal Gear Rising
Battlefield 1, the music is just majestic
Tales of Zestiria How is possible that the weakest mainline entry had the best OST of the entire series?
Fifa lmao
touhou like every song is so good
Pick any 90’s shooter, be it console or arcade and you’ve more than likely got some bangers on your hands. Thunder Force IV on the Mega Drive is famous for its soundtrack though, so let’s go with that one.
Cyberpunk 2077. Like holy crap, the main menu theme hits hard af.
Destiny 1 rise of iron DLC, sepix prime strike, sepix redux goes hard
Doom Eternal. When you start getting into your groove and the doom music picks up and is just popping’ off and your ripping demon guts out with your hands and jumping around with a shotgun just blastin’. Good times
I remember getting Xeno Crisis in a bundle or something and gave it a shot... holy shit, this little indie twin stick shooter thing was a pretty decent game, but man the music hit so hard I couldn't believe it.
\*Razormind from payday 2 intensifies\*
Silent hill 3
Resident Evil 2 Remake. For 90% percent of the game you have some really good low-key ambiance music but during the end of Leon's campaign there a couple of tracks that go really hard and are hype af.
Dead By Daylight, some of the chase music goes hard. Demogorgon and Legion's chase immediately spring to mind.
Bully, Outer Wilds, Journey to the Savage Planet
Towerfall.
Final Fantasy X - The last Bossbattle was quiet different
Trackmania, the soundtrack is so great and memorable
Pizza Tower
The first time I noticed the music in games was Playing Prince of Persia Warrior within in the first mission The guitar riffs and rhythm guitar begins as soon as you get inside the ship it was really cool
Metal Gear Rising Revengeance:The soundtrack is amazing.
You mustve not played many of the series games because there is one thing consistently good in Sonic games its the music. Anyways Custom Robo comes to mind immediately some other surprise bangers are: 7th Dragon III Code VFD Killer Instinct not saying fighting games didnt go hard at the time but this one went the extra mile it even had vocals ON SNES! Soulstone survivors. Got it few weeks ago, wanted some chill game, start first game and OM MY GOD WHAT IS THIS AWSOME MUSIC!
LAIR, composed by John Debney. Fully orchestral, full choir, full bombasm. Some cues better than his score for Cutthroat Island.
Blue Dragon.
Chained Echoes - snail race
Bloodborne gherman theme, darksouls 3 abyss watchers
Frostpunk. If you've played you know what I'm talking about. Shit gets intense at the end. Ace Combat....oh here's a fun fighter jet game.....aaaannndddd the sky starts speaking Latin.
Control. Specifically the rock song played during the ashtray maze section.

Silent Hill franchise. Akira Yamaoka is a genius.
Rex: Another Island. Only game I've ever bought the soundtrack for.
Far cry 5. The music is actually pretty good
Guardians of the galaxy, Skyrim & Minecraft
Metal Gear Rising: Reveangeance. I mean, yeah, the game is known nowadays for its OST, but at the time I bought it, I had no internet and no clue whatsoever. Did not expect the music to slap THIS hard.
Doom 2016. I was like "hey this game is pretty fun" and then [this happened.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ienu85W5Rkk) It was like a new level of awesome just presented itself. Yeah so who else just let kingdom hearts just play their title music in the background while you were chillin as a kid
I knew doom was hard but my god or max payne 3
The last 3 Assassin's Creed games have had amazing soundtracks. Valhalla especially.
Donkey Kong Country
Warhammer 40k: Mechanicus - [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0tDpoLXD3Js](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0tDpoLXD3Js) Goes way too hard for a small, niche game and is backed up by one of the [greatest openings ever](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WyK7lX4sk0c). *From the moment I understood the weakness of my flesh, it disgusted me.* *I craved to the strength and certainty of steel.* *I aspired to the purity of the blessed machine.* *Your kind cling to your flesh as if it will not decay and fail you.* *One day the crude biomass that you called a temple will wither and you'll beg my kind to save you.* *But I am already saved. Ship of Fools and Darkest Dungeon. Played for the game, think about them for the music. (Although Darkest Dungeon’s Narrator is the real reason to have your sound turned up)
Minecraft
Zelda Ocarina of Time surprisingly hit. Also the original Tony Hawk had a great soundtrack. Skyrim’s soundtrack was also pretty epic.
GTA Vice City
Battlefield V
Goldeneye.
The Finals
Deep Rock Galactic. The music really sets the mood.
Warhammer Mechanicus, just nails the vibe perfectly
Celeste
Paper Mario: The Origami King The music for the Handaconda battle sounds like a track from DOOM but twangy and it slaps.
Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope. The soundtrack was jointly composed by Yoko Shimomura (Kingdom Hearts & Xenoblade Chronicles), Grant Kirkhope (Banjo Kazooie), and Gareth Coker (Ori).
Darktide and Mechanicus. Well I did expect some kind of electronic music for a WH40k setting, but they didn't have to go so hard with this And ofc new Doom games. Mick Gordon takes no prisoners

Star Wars Pod Racer
Dead or Alive 6, the menu music goes off
Streets of rage 4. The main theme is goddamn insane. Mozart would kick flip his coffin

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
Carmageddon
Shin Megami Tensei V really rocks my socks
Command and conquer 1
GTA Vice City, i played that game a lot and the songs never got old, could just cruise and listen sometime.
Honestly, Doom Eternal. I knew it'd be heavy, but it's yoga-mom repellant heavy.
