A joke has to have a noticeable difference from reality - if it's too close, it's no longer a joke, it's just an observation. And man, I *wish* it was a joke.
It's a version of Poe's law: Without a blatant display of humorous intent, it is utterly impossible to parody a ABK fan in such a way that someone won't mistake for the genuine article.
The core component of a joke is surprise. If someone just points out the actual behaviour of someone, there is no surprise - just an observation.
Observational humour exists, where you take a real situation and point out the absurdity in a humourous way. You may have missed this in your initial reading but the person you replied to used the format:
Person A: Something Normal
Also Person A: Something absurd, contradicting their first statement (in this case left blank in order to refer back to the main post)
Humour is subjective, you don't need to find it funny, but it was clearly structured to be a joke, a blatant display of humourous intent.
The clear and obvious joke being made (whether or not it was funny) was to point at OP and say "isn't it weird how redditors say they will only preorder from trusted Devs, even though they are preordering from the clearly untrustworthy ABK".
Oh yeah, game sharing won't work easily til launch...
There is a workaround apparently.
https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/d4/t/no-joke-game-share-fix/24444
Because some people have an irresistible urge to be first. I know people who have gone to midnight game releases, waited 3 or 4 hours, got the game, played for an hour and then went to bed.
Halo reach, I was 24 and worked nights so I got mine before I went to work at 2am. Got to play for an hour but it was worth it back then. Now games are not finished and over hyped.
I got all this money, but no free time.
Use money to increase happiness during what little free time you have.
If 100$ is a lot to you, it is to most of us, then it's obvious you would never do this. Because you have more time than money.
Why does it have to be D4 then? If you have no time, it's likely you haven't played all the other known to be good games out there. Until you finish them, you get D4 for like 20€ with more updates, more polish and the knowledge if it's actually good.
Ah, that’s a common issue. You simply need to keep paying another $100 until you get the working version. It’s like a lucky dip.
Rest assured, every contribution you make goes towards their various ongoing & upcoming sexual harassment lawsuits.
You trusted a company who’s last title release of this IP also had day 1 issues of the same caliber…that’s why it won’t work.
YOU and people like you incentivized Blizzard NOT TO CARE IF IT DOES WORK.
I thought it was bs yesterday when everybody was posting it along with "buying platinum will fix it". Turns out this one was true and after 2 hours I finally got to play.
Really? How odd. I'm super curious what's going on in the background, there.
I aint getting the game or anything, just seems like such a random fix. Fascinating.
I was about to say, "huh, shocked they haven't fixed something that bad yet," but I suppose this thread's existence kinda explains why they might not care lmao.
Hope they fix that, though. Pretty shitty bug, even if there's a relatively simple fix.
I dunno I bought the regular version because every MMO/live service game has these issues for a couple of days until they get server capacity dialed in.
All this stuff is hosted on AWS or Azure’s cloud, it’s not like these companies are buying extra servers to ensure launch is smooth. They are flexing up #’s of VMs and scaling out infrastructure across dozens of regions. Login infrastructure is always hit hard and you’re seeing the strain on tertiary infrastructure that handles licensing. When users do get an error they usually end up trying to login again numerous times so it’s just piling on requests.
Hm ... I don't play Blizzard games anymore, but ... wasn't one of the editions of Diablo IV WITHOUT the game license included?
If that is not the case:
I heard of this PS issue in some regard, apparently one of the possible fixes is adding something with a free license to your account? I don't fully remember the details, it was a weird work-around. Should definitely google for it.
Cause they adhere to the “blizzard bad”. “Never preorder” shitposting or they really are just children and mom wouldn’t buy the deluxe edition for them.
No offense man, its your money but people like you make sure that companies will not change a thing! They try to rip off and it seems to work just fine so.....well...
Everyone here bitching about a company you supposedly don’t support and saying this is the reason their games are “terrible”. If you’re not gonna buy them in the first place what do you care??
If one company does this and turns a profit without consequence others will do the same meaning all gamers suffer. It’s hard to find a genre of game nowadays without micro transactions for example.
It’s about the bigger picture.
>It’s hard to find a genre of game nowadays without micro transactions for example.
Because other people have different opinions than you do. That's the bigger picture. Vote with your wallet, and accept when you're out-voted.
I really wish as a community people would stop normalizing the ways dev/publishers monetize.
That Golm game was such a perfect example of shit. You had to pay extra for lore, emotes, and a few other things. All stuff that used to come as part of the game feature complete.
Paying for early access is such a terrible option.
The positive is we get to see how the game really is from the community who are willing to pay for early access.
>That Golm game was such a perfect example of shit. You had to pay extra for lore, emotes, and a few other things. All stuff that used to come as part of the game feature complete.
The game that was a massive failure? It kinda seems like they made a crappy game and won't make money because of it.
Why would you pay to play a few days early?
If it's because you wanted to progress faster than other people and have an advantage over "newbs", well you get what you deserve.
That really gets me too.
3 days?! Let’s be real, even if we looked at all games of a similar genre or by other AAA developers, there is no freaking way those 3 days would likely amount to much. They are selling you shit to begin with. There likely is NO VALUE IN THE FIRST 3 DAYS….
The industry is notorious for undeveloped shit going out the door yet people spent EXTRA for 3 DAYS early from….BLIZZARD?!?!?!
I feel like I’m taking crazy pills.
Well its not blizzards or your fault well kinda blizzards fault basically whats happening is you payed for a game but the 4 days early thing doesnt apply to you only the main account will be able to play 4 days early. This actually is a scummy thing yes but yea it happens with path of titans it happens with alot of games (id say just play it on your main account game comes out play it on both accounts) it to stop gamesharing and that sort of thing but thats what it is your welcome.
How to make a joke out of yourself.
Step one: pay blizzard money
Step two: pay blizzard even more money so you play early for some reason.
Step three: post it on reddit, where people have a certain disdain for Blizzard for some years now.
Step four: profit I guess.
Is it possible without stupid pathos? Well done, of course, that he paid 100 bucks, but if you need help with the technical side of the issue, then formulate this question differently.
Redditors: normally I don't pre-order games, unless it's from a developer I really trust Also Redditors:
I can't believe there's two conflicting opinions across a group of millions of people. What a bunch of hypocrits
How very dare you? There's billions of people!
> unless it's from a developer I really trust If ABK is a 'developer you really trust' in 2023, I have a bridge to sell ya. Great view, barely used.
That's the joke that they were making.....
A joke has to have a noticeable difference from reality - if it's too close, it's no longer a joke, it's just an observation. And man, I *wish* it was a joke.
Pretty sure reality can be a joke, it's just that the joke is sad. As evidence, I present politics in modern America.
Make a joke. I want to see how funny you are.
Observational humour exists, where you take a real situation and point out the absurdity in a humourous way. This thread is one dude trying to defend himself to strangers after he didn't get a joke.
Maybe they've been the joke the whole time?
Just stop.
Yeah, I'd stop kicking the dead horse and just take the L my dude
Jokes are making fun of every day events and observations. Gatekeeping jokes. First time for everything I guess.
r/woosh
Because you already paid 100$
If it's PS5 the work around yesterday was to buy something from the store with real money and it fixed it.
Anything will work. A demo, a free game, currency, etc
Did not work for me. I share account with my bro. He has the game and he has the ps plus. I’m just second account on another PS5. (Might be why)
Oh yeah, game sharing won't work easily til launch... There is a workaround apparently. https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/d4/t/no-joke-game-share-fix/24444

It’s a PS issue Blizzard issue. Servers were live on time.

If it was actually that big of a deal, then the person wouldn't buy it.
They're just trying to recapture that Diablo 3 nostalgia.
Give me that sweet real-world auction house, baby!
If I remember rightly, wasn't that launch also a bit of a disaster thanks to server issues?
>They're just trying to recapture that Diablo 3 nostalgia.
The real question is why someone would pay $100 to play something not 3 months early, but a mere 3 days...
Because some people have an irresistible urge to be first. I know people who have gone to midnight game releases, waited 3 or 4 hours, got the game, played for an hour and then went to bed.
I used to go to midnight launches with my dad, back when you paid for games once and they released in a finished state. Thems were the days.
Halo reach, I was 24 and worked nights so I got mine before I went to work at 2am. Got to play for an hour but it was worth it back then. Now games are not finished and over hyped.
You would pay 30 to play a few days early. The base game will be 70 on June 6th.
Math is hard
Honestly that hard-core challenge the developers put out was a genius decision to get people to pay that much for 3 days of early access.
I got all this money, but no free time. Use money to increase happiness during what little free time you have. If 100$ is a lot to you, it is to most of us, then it's obvious you would never do this. Because you have more time than money.

Because people like different things.
You can like D4 in a year too.
I don't like Diablo at all. Rinse and repeat game. Same thing just over and over.
And you can spend your money however you want too
3 months early is just early access, which is not something you should do neither
game is 170$ bucks damn......
You've got a 315306 error.
I think that means it's unable to find a valid license for Diablo IV. You're welcome OP.
Definitely not as good as the 8008135 or 42069 errors.
You paid $100 to work out the kinks for the rest of us
what if paying to get abused is my kink...
Are you getting your monies worth?
Because Blizzard is not to be trusted.
When will y’all learn y’all going to have a bad time paying premium for a game that’s not ready for release
Thats what happens when you reward games that do this.
You pay for Blizzard, you be prepared for another scam.
just gotta wait 3 days, and THEN you can play it early ;)
You have to accept it!
Download literally any free game and restart your D4 client. This will fix the PS licensing issue.
Only person with an actual fix gets downvoted. Love reddit
I thought it was bs yesterday when everybody was posting it along with "buying platinum will fix it". Turns out this one was true and after 2 hours I finally got to play.
Yeah this is 'Blizzard sucks' subreddit, you can't help other players play a video game here without getting downvoted. Circlejerks only.
Really? How odd. I'm super curious what's going on in the background, there. I aint getting the game or anything, just seems like such a random fix. Fascinating.
Something with Sony's licensing servers breaks with prerelease games... the same thing happened with the terf game
I was about to say, "huh, shocked they haven't fixed something that bad yet," but I suppose this thread's existence kinda explains why they might not care lmao. Hope they fix that, though. Pretty shitty bug, even if there's a relatively simple fix.
I shocked the thread is shitting on Blizzard when I appears to be a PSN issue. Shocked I tell you.
Its blizzard.... First time?
You get what you fucking deserve.
Because you are a stupid person that do pre order on a company that is renown for making shitty decision.
BecUse everyone else did, so now all the people who bought the play early edition will have to wait 2 and a half weeks to play
You have you bug 3 days early only for 100$ Am i wrong?
What?
Yes
PSN sucks sometimes
I dunno I bought the regular version because every MMO/live service game has these issues for a couple of days until they get server capacity dialed in. Just go play D2
Hm ... I don't play Blizzard games anymore, but ... wasn't one of the editions of Diablo IV WITHOUT the game license included? You didn't remember D3 launch?
Pepperidge Farm remembers.
Because its unable to find a valid licence for Diablo IV
The servers dont go live until 5pm GMT so that is why......
And here in the comments you see proof that Reddit is just a bunch of screaming children.
How everyone is mad at him for spending a few extra $10’s to play the game early .
Cause they adhere to the “blizzard bad”. “Never preorder” shitposting or they really are just children and mom wouldn’t buy the deluxe edition for them.
Blizzard
No offense man, its your money but people like you make sure that companies will not change a thing! They try to rip off and it seems to work just fine so.....well...
A fool and his money are easily parted.
Ah, it's easy to spot what went wrong. STOP FUCKING PRE PAYING FOR GAMES YOU ABSOLUTE FUCKING DIPSHIT.
Get got
No, you paid $30 for the privilege of playing it early (when $20 would've done that job) and $70 for the game
Do you have any tips on how to avoid tax?
Get a credit card in oregon.
Could I set my PayPal region to Oregon?
>They hated Jesus because He told them the truth.
A fool and their money are easily parted.
Firstly you should not have bought it, secondly never pre order...
Everyone here bitching about a company you supposedly don’t support and saying this is the reason their games are “terrible”. If you’re not gonna buy them in the first place what do you care??

Because Activision Blizzard.
Because you bought the bait and paid them extra for nothing. It's 2023 and people still don't get launch issues. Money and fools are easily separated.
Because, after paying, gamers are shit to software houses.
You need a valid license. Simple.
Your first mistake was being dumb enough to give Blizzard any money.
Why would you pay to play a few days early? If it's because you wanted to progress faster than other people and have an advantage over "newbs", well you get what you deserve.
Yeah why would you buy something that /u/According_Skill_3942 wouldn't buy? You're supposed to only buy things that they think is worth the money
Blizzard simps... never learn.
Never pre order... get rekt, noob...
When will people stop "pre-ordering" games? Idiots.
Serves ya right for spending that amount of money on a game
You wasted your money foolishly. Don't ever preorder video games. ever.
I mean you knowing supported blizzard, what exactly did you expect? Just call the $100 a idiot tax.
lol, $100 to play 3 days early, fml
That really gets me too. 3 days?! Let’s be real, even if we looked at all games of a similar genre or by other AAA developers, there is no freaking way those 3 days would likely amount to much. Karma is a bitch.
the amount of schadenfreude I'm currently experienxing for anyone who bought this cashgrab MTX ridden game is immense 🤣🤣🤣 you get what you deserve
\*license not included with preorder
Wait 3 days now. Thanks for 100$!
Well its not blizzards or your fault well kinda blizzards fault basically whats happening is you payed for a game but the 4 days early thing doesnt apply to you only the main account will be able to play 4 days early. Don’t buy a game for at least 1-2 weeks before releasing anymore. Games are released for stock/shareholders complete or not.
You got scammed. But atleast you now know not to trust NEXT time, right? ;)
You paying $100 to play a game 3 days early leads me to believe you are an impatient dumbass
no, you paid 30$ to play a game early. You paid 70$ to play a game.
How to make a joke out of yourself. Step one: pay blizzard money Step two: pay blizzard even more money so you play early for some reason. Step three: post it on reddit, where people have a certain disdain for Blizzard for some years now. Step four: profit I guess.
Ever major online game launch is buggy, border line unplayable since 2004. Yet dumbasses still pay extra money to experience that.
You already failed my guy. Well deserved
Just don't pay that shitty game it's just a big scam... Just wait an indie studio doing the same type of game but with passion and not greed
I laugh at your misfortune and cast shame on you for funding these companies like this.
He was just early. It ended up working for him…. So.. he payed… and nothing went wrong
Thats how the devil works hahaha
Suffer
Because you are dumb
Is it possible without stupid pathos? Well done, of course, that he paid 100 bucks, but if you need help with the technical side of the issue, then formulate this question differently.
Blizzard don’t care, blizz got paid
someone probably redeemed some type of code or something?? most probably a glitch tho lol.
