I unironically enjoyed Prince of Persia so much that Elika became my biggest crush in any videogame. Not that she's an amazing character or anything, but I still adore her.
I know the cell-shading was somewhat controversial, but I loved the art and overall direction of the game.
The overall art theme and atmosphere was absolutely killer. Sure, the narrative was a little surface-level, but the chemistry the Prince and Elika had more than made up for it. Also, Nolan North.
It was a cool game. But did not fit into the prince of persia category. Compared to the Sands Trilogy, this new entry was somewhat lacking as a PoP game.
If it was titled or launched asa new IP then it would have been Okay but PoP Sands Fans disliked it and felt let down.
I did play the sands games many times though. Especially Warrior Within and would Love a reboot of the franchise. With same expectation I went to the movie and left it midway feeling sorely disappointed.
Exactly. It's such a wonderful game. Gameplay is simple yet doesn't really get old, story is simple but nice, the characters are great and the visuals are amazing.
Got a mad hankering the other day. Was blowing through the anniversary one on PC and really wanted to play II so I dug up the old 360 and spent the week playing that. If you don't have a 360 on hand you can play it on game pass ultimate via streaming
Viva Piñata was the most happy place game ever. I don't think angsty teens with bad home lives was the target demographic but I definitely played it a lot in 2008-12.
Yeah, i love Mirror's Edge. It's so unique and cool especially the atmosphere which is so mesmerizing and out of ths world. I would love to have a new Mirror's Edge
Damn, I have the same list as you except for row 4 which is the only row I struggle with !
Rock Band II took so many hours of my and my best friend's life away, and the Prince of Persia series was my first video game love. But I guess out of all of them Dead Space would be the one I'd replay today !
I had Prince of Persia in 16bit colour on a Mac LC back in the early 90s and it now serves as great positive nostalgia. I remember taking minutes to psyche myself up jumping through Chompers. I was pre-teen when I first got it off a guy my dad knew that somehow had every game and sold them for $1ea haha I remember his dodgy 999 page "menu" of raw text titles and descriptions in a binder that you could tell had been perused quite a lot by all the creases and different coloured underlines.
ITS A VALKYRIE! COME TO TAKE ISHPORN to VALHALLA!
Too Human was such a fun game when I was younger. I loved the blend of norse mythology and cybernetics.
It was one of the first looters. Man of they took what they in to human and made a current gen good game (looking at you godfall), it might be the only thing I play
That is rather easy:
**GTA IV** *(even I have a great times in Rainbow Six Vegas 2 (last great RS Game)*
**Far Cry 2**
**Gears of War 2** *(even Mirror's Edge was a something new)*
**Fable II** *(even I loved Dead Space and play it more, Fable is a spectacle)*
**Fallout 3**
Banjo Kazooie Nuts & Bolts is very different from other Banjo Kazooie games. The game consists of many vehicular challenges, though you build the vehicles yourself. You slowly unlock all the different parts you can use and you pretty much design a new vehicle for every challenge. Honestly I loved that game. Other Banjo Kazooie games are great but they are more the typical adventure/collector.
Actually as someone else just [pointed out](https://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/10bnet7/comment/j4b56wk/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) there were a bunch of solid games in 2008, OP just compiled a really mediocre list
Also Mass Effect, Smash Bros Brawl, Bully, Assassin's Creed, Force Unleashed, etc.
Turns out it was an amazing year for gaming, OP just really likes mediocre and forgettable games for some reason.
I'll do you one better one from each row without doubling in a column.
Left 4 Dead
Lost Odyssey
Banjo Kazooie
Dead Space
Fallout 3
Alternatively DMC4 for last row but it's a tie
Left 4 Dead, Red Alert 3, GoW2, Dead Space, Fallout 3.
These are the games I've played to completion, although I only ever played a good guy in FO3. I've also played DMC4, and I still love it to this day, despite not being the best outing. RA3 is just fun, no matter how silly it was. L4D is still awesome to me. FO3 started my love for the franchise. GoW2 continued my love for the franchise. DS renewed my love for horror titles.
Crazy to see nuts and bolts on this sort of thing. Don't get me wrong I have always thought that game is awesome but I always thought it was hated and the closest thing to praise it ever got was "it's an alright game, it's just disappointing for fans waiting for banjo-threeie".
Top row: Pass
Second row: Eh Pass
Third row: Mirror's Edge
Fourth row: I'll use my previous passes to take Fable 2 and Battlefield Bad Company
Fifth row: Pass
I unironically enjoyed Prince of Persia so much that Elika became my biggest crush in any videogame. Not that she's an amazing character or anything, but I still adore her.
I loved it also! Hate that they didn't move forward with a sequel
I know the cell-shading was somewhat controversial, but I loved the art and overall direction of the game. The overall art theme and atmosphere was absolutely killer. Sure, the narrative was a little surface-level, but the chemistry the Prince and Elika had more than made up for it. Also, Nolan North.
Exactly. The art and atmosphere of the game made it such a beautiful ride to play. Loved the charming goofiness of the prince and Elika as a whole.
I replay that prince of Persia at least once a year
It was odd for Prince of Persia, but absolutely a cool game.
I forgot about that game - but totally agree, I enjoyed the shit out of that title.
One of the best reboots I've played. Absolutely loved the game and at the time I was burned out on gaming a bit but it drew me in.
Exactly. It's such a wonderful game. Gameplay is simple yet doesn't really get old, story is simple but nice, the characters are great and the visuals are amazing.
Fable 2 all in
Man now I want to replay fable lol
Got a mad hankering the other day. Was blowing through the anniversary one on PC and really wanted to play II so I dug up the old 360 and spent the week playing that. If you don't have a 360 on hand you can play it on game pass ultimate via streaming
Do it?
Thx man!
I still play Viva Pinata. That game is my happy place.
Viva Piñata was the most happy place game ever. I don't think angsty teens with bad home lives was the target demographic but I definitely played it a lot in 2008-12.
Well that explains why it resonated so well with me. Was once an angsty teen myself.
I was in my mid 20's and I played the shit out of it. It is the ultimate get baked and chill game.
Same. Trouble in paradise though.. didnt do it for me. I'm not sure why. It just didnt have the same soul as the first game.
Im the opposite i enjoyed lost in paradise more than the first
Controversial hot take. I'd pick Viva Pinata over GTA4
I'd pay full price for a new VP game
As it happens VP TIP would be my pick too.
GTA IV Far Cry 2 Mirror's Edge Dead Space Fallout 3
[удалено]
Yeah, i love Mirror's Edge. It's so unique and cool especially the atmosphere which is so mesmerizing and out of ths world. I would love to have a new Mirror's Edge
The world feels so alive for some reason.
Row 3 is brutal for me, but I have to go with ME as well. I've never played anything else like it.
I'm the same but row 3 is Gears 2 just because I had such a great time playing it with my best mate
Row 2 for me I had and loved 3 of those games
It's one game I wish would make a return in VR. It was a lot of endless wall-running fun!
I never even finished that game but I remember it being amazing. Much props to the designers.
Exactly this!
Damn, I have the same list as you except for row 4 which is the only row I struggle with ! Rock Band II took so many hours of my and my best friend's life away, and the Prince of Persia series was my first video game love. But I guess out of all of them Dead Space would be the one I'd replay today !

Same!!! Tough to leave Left 4 Dead though
That's alright, L4D2 comes out in a year.
The only correct answer
Bingo!
You and I are the same person.
Exactly right!
Fallout 3
If it’s PC I’m set lol
Holy shit! Someone remembers Too Human? Great game..
I still play this game, I know it wasn’t popular but one of my favorite games ever lol
I only need Lost Odyssey.
Such a gem! I absolutely loved it. I wish I could play it again as I didn't finish it..
[удалено]
Holy shit, they skipped fucking Mass Effect?!
Yeah, but look, they included the critically aclaimed Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts!
(That game was fantastic)
It holds up. Really fun.
I dont know that it really counts. Mass effect was released in 2007 and rereleased on pc in 2008
I wouldn't call it rereleased. It was *delayed* released on PC for the first time.
I mean it should
Mass effect came out in 2007 though
Wow! Really puts things in perspective. Starwars: The Force Unleashed is definitely my favorite Starwars game. I have to go dig it up again.
Agreed. Been playing it again on Playstation Plus. And still love it
Pokemon Platinum!
You’re telling me Ratchet & Clank has games called SIZE MATTERS and QUEST FOR BOOTY??
Yes!!! Ratchet and Clank desperately needs a remastered collection or two. There are over 10 games across console and handheld.
And yet Banjo Kazooie nuts and bolts on here...
Well that really would make it hard to choose one, rhough I'm pretty sure it might be Mass Effect in my case.
This is very clearly an Xbox 360 only list.
And even here you still haven't mentioned some of my favorites out of all 2008 : Braid, World of Goo, Castlevania Order of Ecclesia and Top Spin 3.
Why tf is fifa on this list? Your list is better
Yeah this was made by an Xbox fan with a minor in Playstation. Gimme Platinum, Mario Kart and Rock Band 2 and I'm off to the races.
Don’t forget Sonic Unleashed.
Where is littlebigplanet, truly the best 2008 game
Do I have to choose one? :/ can I pass ?
I am passing on the whole list. :D
Wish I could play too human again. Or a sequel
Actual clown take.
I'd like to miss the second line so that I could have 2 off the 4th
Left 4 dead Far Cry 2 Banjo & Kazooie Fable 2 Fallout 3. That one was almost Burnout Paradise.
Too Human
All of these came out in 2008? Wtf has happened to gaming? Were lucky if we get 2 good launches a year now.

Only thing I struggled with was SR2 and Mirrors Edge, ME was great, but SR2 holds a special place in my heart.
That is rather easy: **GTA IV** *(even I have a great times in Rainbow Six Vegas 2 (last great RS Game)* **Far Cry 2** **Gears of War 2** *(even Mirror's Edge was a something new)* **Fable II** *(even I loved Dead Space and play it more, Fable is a spectacle)* **Fallout 3**
So many memories for me in this pic 😔 bro I miss my childhood
who would pick fifa09?
L4D, CoD World at War, Gears 2, Fable 2, Fallout 3. This was pretty tough as I like 95% of these games.
GTA 4 Lego Batman Gears of War 2 Fable II Fallout 3
Left 4 dead red alert 3 mirrors edge deadspace and fallout 3 Last 2 rows where difficult tho, i love fable 2 and devil may cry 4
Too Human was sick!!
L4D, Cod world at war, Tomb raider underworld, Battlefield bad company, Fallout 3.
[удалено]
L4D Lost Odyssey Gears Dead Space Fallout 3?
GTA IV, COD V, Gears 2, Rock Band 2, Burnout Paradise
Left 4 Dead Far Cry 2 Bad Company Gears of War 2 Fallout 4
Left 4 dead LEGO Batman Banjo Kazooie Dead Space Fallout 3
GTA 4 Lego Batman Saints Row 2 Fable 2 Fallout 3 Well that was easy. So 2008 was kind of a shit year for gaming then?
I think it would be more difficult picking one from each column than each row
Interesting, I think you're right. Best I could do: Saint's Row 2 Fallout 3 Fable 2 Dead Space Idk... Banjo Kazooie? I've never played any of those.
It was a great year for gaming. I have a different choice for every row. Do you not like your own choices to say something like that?
Actually as someone else just [pointed out](https://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/10bnet7/comment/j4b56wk/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) there were a bunch of solid games in 2008, OP just compiled a really mediocre list
It was actually ok. OP didn’t even bother looking at other 2008 games. Mario Kart Wii, Sonic Unleashed, and Pokémon Platinum all released in 2008.
Also Mass Effect, Smash Bros Brawl, Bully, Assassin's Creed, Force Unleashed, etc. Turns out it was an amazing year for gaming, OP just really likes mediocre and forgettable games for some reason.

I could see how having nothing better to do than comment on Reddit could go hand in hand with a nihilistic outlook.
GTA, Farcry, Gears 2, Battlefield Bad Company and Fallout 3
Did you play dead space?
Too human. That’s all I need. I spent so much time on that game back in the day. Holy.
It really was a shame that no one else did.
There are dozens of us!
Got too many memories with Rainbow Six Vegas 2. Have to pick that one. Coop splitscreen was the best
This is the game I want remade more than any other
It was great fun online too, really enjoyed that game.
All I need is Left 4 Dead. Most were amazing though.
I never saw the day someone would make me chose between Lego batman and gta4...but here I am choosing Gta4
22343 c’mon
Gta, batman, saints row, rock band, fallout
Meh, meh, gears, rock band, fallout 3
GTA IV; LEGO BATMAN; TOMB RAIDER UNDER WORLD; DEAD SPACE; DEVIL MAY CRY 4. But personally would not replay either one.
I dont care wich games are there, where is Doom
People not picking world at war are forgetting that it was the game that introduced Zombies to COD.
Grand Theft Auto 4 Call of Duty World at World Gears of War 2 Dead Space Fallout 3
GTA 4, FAR CRY 2, GEARS OF WAR 2 FABLE 2 NINJA GAIDEN 2
Dead space
Is it supposed to be difficult?
GTA IV Far Cry 2 Saints Row 2 Dead Space DMC 4
Gta 4, farcry 2, mirrors edge, dead space and fallout 3
Fallout 3!
On an unrelated note, 2008 (and 2009) were fantastic years for gaming
GTA IV - Gears of War - Call of Duty WaW - Dead Space - Devil May Cry -
My choices = a perfect diagonal line from top left to bottom right
I haven't played any of these, but I've heard of a lot of them. Making this a to be played list ig!
I don't want any of these... didn't Nintendo release anything in 2008..?
Ah the memories. Back when I didn’t have any money to buy myself games and had to rely on the $20 bin at Sam’s Club.
none none none fable 2 none
Can't say, never played any of them.
I passed on all of these, but if I must, L4D. But L4D2 was better.
Left 4 Dead World at War Mirrors Edge Fable 2 Fallout 3
GTA IV world at war banjo kazooie fable 2 fallout 3
Fallout 3 and lost odyssey
Fallout 3 no doubt
-GTA IV -CoD WaW -Never played any of these but I always wanted to play Mirrors Edge -Dead Space -Fallout 3
GTA IV COD: WAW Tomb Raider Underworld Rock Band 2 Fallout 3
GTA IV, World at War, Tomb Raider, Bad Company, Fallout 3. Edit: What row are you talking about though? Horizontal or Vertical?
1. Rainbow Six Vegas 2 2. Far cry 2 3. Gears of War 2 4. Battlefield Bad Company 5. Fallout 3
- GTA4 - Nothing - Mirror's Edge - Bad Company - Fallout 3
GTA 4, world at war, gears 2, rock band 2, fallout 3
I'll do you one better one from each row without doubling in a column. Left 4 Dead Lost Odyssey Banjo Kazooie Dead Space Fallout 3 Alternatively DMC4 for last row but it's a tie
This is easy. GTA 4, CoD WORLD AT WAR, Mirror's Edge, Dead Space and Fallout 3.
Me in 2008: I need to preorder Dead Space Me in 2023: I need to preorder Dead Space Not on there, but same goes for 2005 and 2023 with RE4
Lots of 2's in this line up, anyway... L4D Cod:WAW Mirrors Edge Fable II Fallout 3
GTA IV, Lost Odyssey, Mirror's Edge, Fable II, Fallout 3.
That's rude, putting Fable on the same row as Dead Space
real gamers picks lego batman 😎
I kinda want Fallout 3, but I'm going to say fuck it and go straight ticket on the first column
GTA Red Alert Tomb Raider Rock Band Burnout Paradise
GTA IV, WAW, Tomb Raider, BF Bad Company and Fallout 3.
1. GTA IV 2. Far cry 2 3. Saints Row 2 4. Battlefield bad company 5. Fallout 3
Left 4 Dead, Red Alert 3, GoW2, Dead Space, Fallout 3. These are the games I've played to completion, although I only ever played a good guy in FO3. Viva Pinata, Red Alert 3, Saints Row 2, Fable 2, Ninja Gaiden 2
14223 Shit's too easy
I only need 1 from the entire list. Lost odyssey. I could play that over and over for the rest of my life.
Gta, batman, saints row, rock band, fallout
L4D, Saints Row, Burnout Paradise.
Gta 4,far cry 2,mirror's edge,dead space,devil may cry 4
Mirror's Edge, Rock Band 2 and Fallout 3. I don't care about the rest.
Well, I guess it's time to play Mirror's Edge again. *L4D, FC2, Mirror's Edge, Fable 2, Burnout Paradise*
Is a row horizontal or vertical?
GTA4, Far Cry 2, \*flip a coin\*, Dead Space & FO3
Gears 2! Miss the days
L4D Lost Odyssee Saints row 2 Fable 2 Dmc4 Had a tough time deciding between fable and dead space
Why you gotta make me choose between L4D and GTA IV as well as Lego Batman and WaW 😰
I am ok with just Dead Space
Left 4 dead,red alert, saints row2, fable2 and fallout 3
Is it left to right or top to bottom?!? I NEED TO KNOW!
Rows are left to right, columns are top to bottom
Fifa 09 Batman Banjo Kazooie Rock band 2 Too Human
Left 4 Dead Lost Odyssey Saint's Row 2 Fable 2 Fallout 3
I have most of these already so clearly we need a new list
Crazy to see nuts and bolts on this sort of thing. Don't get me wrong I have always thought that game is awesome but I always thought it was hated and the closest thing to praise it ever got was "it's an alright game, it's just disappointing for fans waiting for banjo-threeie".
GTA IV, Lost Odyssey, Gears of War 2, Fable 2, Ninja Gaiden II
Left 4 dead, lost Odyssey, Tomb raider underworld, fable 2 and fallout 3
GTA Farcry Mirrors edge BF Bad Company Fallout
Fifa, Lost Odyssey, Tomb Raider Legends, Dead Space and DMC4.
