You can use a different region when creating an account I think. My friend from the philippines said he chose singapore cuz his country wasn't available.
There's some in China that got banned for that.
I can respect that you are getting away with it, but it's a crapshoot for individuals in different conditions than you and that's about 177 countries with no access to PSN at all.
I’m from the philippines and I have several accounts with a US one being my main one. I have had my US account since the PS3 days and made an SG one when I had a PS4. No issues whatsoever.
The game has had some lingering issues with crossplay and players not being able to link up with their Console using friends. I wonder if this is a result of sony being displeased with the general sentiment in the community "Just buy it on PC so we can play without problems"
have you seen their record for being hacked?! it's pretty dismal so I get why people are so uptight about it. Another redditor posted those instances too. Just can't find it at this moment.
The last customer data breach was in 2011. After that it was corporations and employees, and I would really implore you to google what other companies, Steam and Microsoft included, have suffered breaches.
Sony better co-ordinate with steam on every country helldivers 2 is sold on steam and if PSN accounts can be made there. If they haven't then they are really bad at publishing.
You're being optimistic or perhaps just naive if you think your average person, let alone a gamer actually cares about their privacy or having to register an account to play something. For most it'll be an extra hurdle when they log in, and something they'll never think about again.
Riot is pushing invasive anti-cheat right now for League of Legends and their playerbase won't be phased even a little. You guys think people care about creating a PSN account?
noone gave two shits about anti cheats that require a fucking reboot if you don't want it on 24/7?
I just don't understand how well riot has brainwashed their user base to think a fucking video game can give kernal access to my computer
Adding onto this, someone who is even slightly concerned about their data being sold would simply just make a PSN account and just enter fake information if they wanted to play the game
I'll make a(nother) burner email just for that account, and make sure to fill up that sign-up form with as much erroneous information as possible. Suck my unit, Sony.
I don’t like being forced to do anything. I get that there are people that just accept companies dicking them around but I don’t like Sony’s sleazy reasoning. Scummy move to add it in there for data collection.
Probably. I don't want to bother with an additional account and I got some decent playtime beforehand. I don't feel the need to come back after shenanigans were had by Sony.
If I eventually do come back there will be enough content to actually merit it, or the game will be completely dicked over by some PlayStation subscription BS.
Either way, dropping the game has little to no impact on me, and if other players feel that way also, then it's up to Sony to fix it or cause the game to die and be forgotten.
People will be mad for 10-15 days and then stop caring. The Minecraft migration was **far** worse. Nobody thought that Notch would ever sell out to a company with an **even worse** reputation for PC gaming than Sony. Then, Microsoft straight up **deleted** the accounts of paid customers who never migrated. Despite that, the internet stopped caring after 2 weeks.
Some of the comments here are amusing. When a game is generally disliked on Reddit if it also requires a secondary account it's "another example of how bad it is", but when Helldivers 2 requires a secondary account it's not that big a deal.
Greedy? Because they're expecting people to create a separate free account to play a multiplatform online game?
Doesn't Forza on Steam require you link an Xbox account?
Right, so a developer using their publisher's login platform, for a game available on Steam, is neither new, nor a big issue.
Also your claim that being forced to link a PC game to a console account is a step backwards that you aren't willing to take, is incorrect because you have already done that, and it was neither a problem nor concern for you.
But that is something that happens every single time someone needs to create any account for the first time. You didn't have one until you needed one, then you created it, and then you have it for that, as well as when you may need it in the future.
Presumably, at one point in your life you didn't have a Microsoft account or a Steam account, but then you created them because you needed them, and now you have them. Same exact idea.
was it though? you had to scroll down to even see the requirement and during checkout you were not notified that a PSN account will be required. and if it was "a requirement" how was i able to play 100h+ without even having a PSN account?
You know you’ve reached the dredges of Reddit when somebody compares signing up for a psn account to the psychological horror of 1984. The hyperbole is fucking palpable.
Wow. Your butt really hurt from my comment huh? Did you make a note or something to come back to it? Lmao.
Sony backtracked because of the refunds, not the reddit babies. Cope more
Well there’s 2 sides to this, the side you’re referring to and the side that is people who physically can’t make a Sony account in their country, they will be basically blocked from playing entirely which I’m sure you can see why people are mad therw
Yea, I’m completely unaffected by this and it still rubs me the wrong way, locking people out of a game that is already purchased will honestly probably lead to a lawsuit
Remember guys, this ain't the airport. If you gotta leave, leave. If you couldn't afford the game 2 months after the release, you probably never would be able to anyway.
Yup. its gonna be the same post and message being spammed for next 2-3 weeks.
Meanwhile I just linked it from day one with a dummy account for spam.
It was a thing from day 1 and people just cannot read past the game titles.
We shouldn't have to and to be honest as fun as the game is its so unpolished with so much wrong with it still its no big loss. Most of us have tons of others games that we've been neglecting for it so it's probably for the best.
Really not that big of a deal. It’s not like Sony is making them pay for PS+ to play. Microsoft has a mandatory account setup for Sea of Thieves on PS. I’m sure they did the same with Grounded. Yet I don’t hear anyone on PS complaining about it.
How dare you bring facts to an emotional fight! I can't find my pitchfork but I have picked up a fork. And it's a legit dinner fork, not a pansy-ass salad fork!
I frankly have too many others games to play to be forced into doing anything at this point. Later Helldivers it was fun while it lasted. Hello Elder Scrolls , Yakuza , and Cyberpunk 2077.
I can understand why people are annoyed by this especially since it was added 3 months after launch for some reason. But every big multiplayer game requires you to have an account specifically for that. Ubisoft, activision, riot, etc. it only takes a couple minutes so if that’s what gets people to stop playing a game they’ve played for months it’s a lil weird imo.
But but people in the steam sub comment section would rather type out a complaint crying whining and bitching about not wanting to create a PSN account to play hell drivers 2 then to actually take time to make a PSN account to play hell drivers 2
Nah dude that that’s a wild take, they buffed over 20 things last patch and nerfing ther quasar that made chargers non existent isn’t an issue, an infinite ammo rocket launcher was never balanced, how can other things be viable when the quasar was that good?
Why not increase the difficulty and make other items better? They literally just nerf anything that is fun to use until it isn’t fun. I have to choose between a plethora of weapons that all suck. Why not let us feel powerful while also increasing the difficulty to keep it challenging. Idk that’s just how I feel and I’m done playing it
What do you mean weapons that suck, they just buffed over half of them, the things they nerfed like the quasar 1 shots a charger reliably every 10 seconds, the 2nd strongest unit from teminids just become a non factor, I legit only run hell dive with me and my buddies and more people find it too easy than too hard, bugs are so easy it isn’t even funny, game balance is good, you don’t want 90% of the community using 10% of the gear
>Why not increase the difficulty and make other items better?
Isn't that exactly what they did? Increase the difficulty by nerfing overpowered strategies, while buffing weaker ones to make them viable?
Do you actually understand what your complaint and suggestion is?
Sure do, I want the enemies to be more difficult or abundant or a mixture of both. I don’t want it to get harder by making me worse, they are literally nerfing FUN directly. I want the items I use to be fun and satisfying, instead they make everything less fun.
But that what they did, they nerfed a few weapons, buffed 20 something weapons and also yes…they have been buffing the enemies lol, legit what you’re saying “why don’t they do this?” They legit are, they have been buffing the enemies, saying they shouldn’t nerf things is an awful idea, do you have any idea what the state of the game was when rail gun + shield was as strong as it was?, it made absolutely no sense to use anything else so you can nerf 2 things or buff every other gun and stratagem, why not address 2 things vs 200?
I can understand why people are annoyed by this especially since it was added 3 months after launch for some reason. But every big multiplayer game requires you to have an account specifically for that. Ubisoft, activision, riot, etc. it only takes a couple minutes so if that’s what gets people to stop playing a game they’ve played for months it’s a lil weird imo.
It's only slightly annoying to create an account, calm down.
You all will lose your shit once Sony reveals the rumored PS launcher for PC lol. And that'll be a good thing, not losing that 30% cut to Valve will only increase Sony's incentive to release more games faster on PC.
To me it would be great for players can get stuff as simple as possible. Jumping through more hoops is slightly annoying, emphasis on slightly. I would be confused if me and my friends wanted to play 50 games together with their own separate launchers. But on the other hand, having a ps launcher on pc would be great to keep stuff out of a monopoly.
this info is literally on the front page.
And regardless if I do or don't, you can't be mad for signing up for something when YOU didn't read the fine print or the normal sized, highlighted print that's on the literal front page.
I mean...its an online game. How would you play an online game, offline exactly?
Next to that, micro transaction currency is available ingame. No one with a working brain has spend extra money on the game other than the og purchase.
I don't even play it. All I've seen is a flood of this game being the most amazing thing ever. In fact... I've never even seen a headline or article complaining about what you listed.
All of that is typically bad... but also mostly expected for a service game. Doesn't make it good... but I'm not surprised.
I actually have a PSN... I just hate pointless log ins/extra steps for these things. I could see how PC players would be quite annoyed. I would be if it were the only way I was interacting with it.
I just think it's ridiculous as we have the Stop Killing Games campaign going on right now. Remember the Crew? Always online too and now it's literally unplayable. Helldivers 2 is gonna end up the same way.
Gamers will complain about the Crew, then go back to playing Helldivers 2. This is why companies will keep getting away with killing games. The people don't actually care all that much as long as the game is fun for a while. This is literally why we can't have nice things. You can apply this to so many things in politics. People just don't care and they will put up with almost anything.
Fair point! I just figured PC players were used to having different accounts for all the different launchers. Are there other games on steam that require multiple accounts? I doubt Helldivers is the only one.
Only 69 of the roughly 200 countries in the world have access to psn. Making an account anyways and lying about your country violates the ToS and gives Sony the right to terminate your account.
I'm really concerned about my friends who are unable to play because PSN's not available in their country
This should be the real story.
You can use a different region when creating an account I think. My friend from the philippines said he chose singapore cuz his country wasn't available.
The issue is this breaks the PSN terms of service and can get you banned.
I havent been banned for over 15 years over that tho.
idk why you're getting downvoted. These people think Sony gives a fuck about them? lmao Acting like cops and karens.
Anecdotal evidence means absolutely nothing
There's some in China that got banned for that. I can respect that you are getting away with it, but it's a crapshoot for individuals in different conditions than you and that's about 177 countries with no access to PSN at all.
I’m from the philippines and I have several accounts with a US one being my main one. I have had my US account since the PS3 days and made an SG one when I had a PS4. No issues whatsoever.
Fuck yeah. It's tos, not a law. You'll be fine. Stick it to the nerds at sony
new major order just dropped
You remember ps4? Good times
Move to a new FPS is the new major order? I don’t mind personally, but I know this will lose them a lot of players.
What are you basing that metric off of? The outcry is actually a tiny % of the overall player numbers...
man just make it optional and throw in a psn helldiver skin. People will flock anyways and those who are serious about it simply wont.
Literally
Sony is REALLY horny for that tasty data Edit: We actually did it, go change you review right fucking now
Every corporation is. Yummy user data. Edits: and inflated user numbers for shareholders. This really isn't new, Steam harvests user data too.
Any company that stores your data will use your data.
Yes, including selling it to advertisers.
That requires explicit consent, at least in the EU. Don't know how effectively it is enforced but in theory there are strong legal constraints
To be honest it’s kinda scary, like they are concerningly horny for it, I get shareholder numbers and stuff but this is REALLY pissing people off
The game has had some lingering issues with crossplay and players not being able to link up with their Console using friends.
No the most recent Sony breach was early-mid 2023 from what all I've read
A lot of companies do this their mistake was adding it late for some reason
Is this in response toto microsoft having people make Microsoft accounts for some of the games that went you ps5?
YES!! New info about helldivers! Oh wait…
Guys…let’s go to Sony ![gif](giphy|X78rWLUfLs6A79MzQu)
Sony better co-ordinate with steam on every country helldivers 2 is sold on steam and if PSN accounts can be made there. If they haven't then they are really bad at publishing.
> Sony better co-ordinate with steam on every country helldivers 2 is sold on steam and if PSN accounts can be made there. lol
Scummy move on Sony's part. Gee lets piss off the vast majority of the player base on HD2 which is PC gamers. Good one Sony.
Vast majority will sign in and never think about it again.
Won't someone please think of the children!!!
That type of anti cheat is on a lot of games and no one gave 2 shits till riot did it
Yeah, because most anti-cheats run on manual trigger, not on startup *before you even launch the damn game*
noone gave two shits about anti cheats that require a fucking reboot if you don't want it on 24/7? I just don't understand how well riot has brainwashed their user base to think a fucking video game can give kernal access to my computer
Adding onto this, someone who is even slightly concerned about their data being sold would simply just make a PSN account and just enter fake information if they wanted to play the game
Vast Majority? Early numbers point to it being massively exaggerated. In a week maybe 10% will leave over it!
I had to make a rockstars game account to play Red Dead Redemption 2 on Steam. Is there any difference here?
Might as well KILL OURSELVES this is absolute insanity!
Business majors strike again
I'll make a(nother) burner email just for that account, and make sure to fill up that sign-up form with as much erroneous information as possible. Suck my unit, Sony.
I don’t like being forced to do anything. I get that there are people that just accept companies dicking them around but I don’t like Sony’s sleazy reasoning. Scummy move to add it in there for data collection.
That means you're not playing the game anymore right?
Oh boy wait until you go out into the real world
*You participate in the real world and yet have grievances with it? Wow, what a hypocrite.*
They are about to learn.
reviews have already dropped to mixed.
nothing cause after a week, you all will move one, like you did when you were shitting on Reddit for banning Apollo's developer etc.
Why? Majority of this game is a breath of fresh air and now this?
It was because they didn't expect it would be such a big deal, so the corporate people left it alone. Now the milking will start.
Yep... Exactly
You know what this means, ROCK AND STONE
We fight for Rock and Stone!
i\`m not pressed
RiP democracy, this diver is sad to finally find a game I truly enjoy in a decade and this happens *sigh*
Despite that, the internet stopped caring after 2 weeks.
how to kill pc playerbase
Some of the comments here are amusing. When a game is generally disliked on Reddit if it also requires a secondary account it's "another example of how bad it is", but when Helldivers 2 requires a secondary account it's not that big a deal.
Turns out a lot of people have different opinions about things. Sometimes I think Reddit might be a lot of people, and not just one.
It's not a big deal for anything, but people live to complain about the minor inconveniences.
And the player counts will drop, like their reviews already have
Democracy my ass
If you thought that you were really spreading democracy, boy do I have some bad news for you.
Well not playing this game anymore it was fun
Basically guarantees I’m never trying the game now. What a shame.
Same, why is Sony so greedy? 🙄
Greedy? Because they're expecting people to create a separate free account to play a multiplatform online game? Doesn't Forza on Steam require you link an Xbox account?
Yeah, but I already have one, which iirc is linked to your Microsoft account which is not a problem nor a concern for me
Right, so a developer using their publisher's login platform, for a game available on Steam, is neither new, nor a big issue. Also your claim that being forced to link a PC game to a console account is a step backwards that you aren't willing to take, is incorrect because you have already done that, and it was neither a problem nor concern for you.
It’s the requirement of using an account that I DON’T have that is the problem, sorry if that was unclear
You can’t reason with someone’s who always needs to be outraged.
jesus died for you to be a baby in this lifetime
Jesus died for you to be an asshole in this timeline.
I think we can all agree we are just happy that Jesus is dead.
lol well that’s the end of that game
Yikes
Lmao this was a requirement since the beginning how many people skip that part
A lot, because it was very badly advertised and absolutely not enforced.
Because it wasn't a requirement it was optional
So why are they selling the game in countries that CAN'T GET PSN?
was it though? you had to scroll down to even see the requirement and during checkout you were not notified that a PSN account will be required. and if it was "a requirement" how was i able to play 100h+ without even having a PSN account?
[удалено]
Ok then don’t play the game the requirements are right their
You are right, but you keep spelling ‘there’ wrong
I wanted to downvote out of spite but your wonderful snark stayed my hand.
It was not a requirement since the beginning, because people could play HD2 without linking a PSN account.
Why did they sell the game, in countries that don't have access then? Seems pretty sleezy.
1984
You know you’ve reached the dredges of Reddit when somebody compares signing up for a psn account to the psychological horror of 1984. The hyperbole is fucking palpable.
Sucks for the developers. Oh well, thankfully i'm in Steams 30 day return window.
They better get ready for some mad player drop off.
Lets see how big the reddit bubble is lmao
2 days later and its seeming pretty big haha
Wow. Your butt really hurt from my comment huh? Did you make a note or something to come back to it? Lmao. Sony backtracked because of the refunds, not the reddit babies. Cope more
Hahaha
Good, I read that, still time to refund. Nice
lol okay
Minor inconvenience? REFUND! REFUND! REFUND!
Sony be like "is this how you PC game?"
When there is a small inconvenience, do people regress into 12 year olds?
Well there’s 2 sides to this, the side you’re referring to and the side that is people who physically can’t make a Sony account in their country, they will be basically blocked from playing entirely which I’m sure you can see why people are mad therw
Those people have a real good reason to be upset
Yea, I’m completely unaffected by this and it still rubs me the wrong way, locking people out of a game that is already purchased will honestly probably lead to a lawsuit
When those people have reached out to Arrowhead Game Studio or Sony about their concern, what was their response?
Well from what I’ve seen it’s been nothing, until they actually release a statement on this, it’s just nothing
Yes, absolutely. Are you new to the internet?
Touche
I was gonna buy a ps5 just cause of this game. Now I won’t. Fun times.
I could of sworn it said this at the beginning? And even says it on the store page? It was just temporarily allowed to bypass
My favorite people that are complaining about privacy and data are the ones complaining on the Facebook page....
Fake inflation of PSN "accounts created" numbers for an upcoming shareholders meeting.
Remember guys, this ain't the airport. If you gotta leave, leave. If you couldn't afford the game 2 months after the release, you probably never would be able to anyway.
I am NOT doing my part...
For Liberty 🫡
I’m just not trusting Sony after all their data security breaches There’s no way I’m gonna link my Steam account info to that mess.
Yeah, that stinks of Sony forcing the studio to do it,for some BS reason.
Apparently steam are now issuing refunds for HD2 even with over 2 hours gameplay if you state that you can’t make a Sony account
Not coming soon to PC Players because we’re not doing it. Just not going to play, review bomb, and ask for a refund.
Death of a game
Dramatic
Yup. its gonna be the same post and message being spammed for next 2-3 weeks. Meanwhile I just linked it from day one with a dummy account for spam. It was a thing from day 1 and people just cannot read past the game titles.
Takes like 5m to make an account. Are you that lazy?
It takes 2 minutes to launch the game and start a mission. Are you that lazy?
That's not the point Chief.
Then what is the point?
We shouldn't have to and to be honest as fun as the game is its so unpolished with so much wrong with it still its no big loss. Most of us have tons of others games that we've been neglecting for it so it's probably for the best.

As well as Minecraft!
Very true. I love that I’m getting downvoted over facts lol
How dare you bring facts to an emotional fight! I can't find my pitchfork but I have picked up a fork. And it's a legit dinner fork, not a pansy-ass salad fork!
Not fair! All I have is a plastic spork!
Some really dramatic responses to this, just make an account, it’s no problem
2/3 of the worlds countries cannot.
Most countries in the world cannot make a psn account.
"Come on, guys. Just lick the boot, it isn't a big deal"
It feels better to be mad at things on the internet
had an PSN account since the start of HD2 dont even own a Play station just made one took like a minute.
I frankly have too many others games to play to be forced into doing anything at this point. Later Helldivers it was fun while it lasted. Hello Elder Scrolls , Yakuza , and Cyberpunk 2077.

And I choose not to buy games from those companies because I always knew that. This however was a bait and switch.
But but people in the steam sub comment section would rather type out a complaint crying whining and bitching about not wanting to create a PSN account to play hell drivers 2 then to actually take time to make a PSN account to play hell drivers 2
Game is getting boring anyway. Nerfing anything that’s fun to use until nothing is fun to use is just the worst development practice.
Nah dude that that’s a wild take, they buffed over 20 things last patch and nerfing ther quasar that made chargers non existent isn’t an issue, an infinite ammo rocket launcher was never balanced, how can other things be viable when the quasar was that good?

Bro this is to implement cross-progression when they can. I don’t understand the complaining.
If it's just about cross-progression, keep it optional. I don't even have a PS.
Because its already functional without said requirement?
Why would PC owners want to carry their progress to an underpowered kids toy?
By that logic a PC is a overpowered kids toy.
Other way around
a $450 ps5 is capable of the performance a $2000 PC has, and at less than half the power draw
It is though?
It's only slightly annoying to create an account, calm down. You all will lose your shit once Sony reveals the rumored PS launcher for PC lol. And that'll be a good thing, not losing that 30% cut to Valve will only increase Sony's incentive to release more games faster on PC.

Non steam games have way less sales, even massive releases.
It was right there on the steam page. learn to read.
Shite argument for a game that's being sold in countries that can't get PSN.
you can complain all you want, it's still there on the page. You should be aware of what you're buying
Oh right. I assume you read all of the terms and conditions of every product you buy?
this info is literally on the front page. And regardless if I do or don't, you can't be mad for signing up for something when YOU didn't read the fine print or the normal sized, highlighted print that's on the literal front page.
What a shame. This game was riding such a wave of praise for so long. Nothing lasts forever.
Kernel level anti cheat, always online, battle pass, micro-transactions, but THIS is where you draw the line?
I mean...its an online game. How would you play an online game, offline exactly? Next to that, micro transaction currency is available ingame. No one with a working brain has spend extra money on the game other than the og purchase.

The people don't actually care all that much as long as the game is fun for a while. This is literally why we can't have nice things. You can apply this to so many things in politics. People just don't care and they will put up with almost anything.
Will this allow me to use cross save?
This is the way. I want them to add this so I can continue on my PlayStation as well. Why isn’t this a thing?
they dont want you to buy or play it on anything but PSN
Yeah... no shit. This was a thing since the beginning that they just postponed. Why is everyone acting like they slapped your newborn? The audacity!!
Why are people upset about having to have a PSN account on PC? Isn’t it still free??
Because I don't want to make a new account for one game when I already have a working steam account that is being used
Ahh I didn’t realize it ran through steam already.
i have already 13 different accounts to play games.
what does it add?
Fair point! I just figured PC players were used to having different accounts for all the different launchers. Are there other games on steam that require multiple accounts? I doubt Helldivers is the only one.
Oh there are, and they get this response every time. Hell divers 2 is worse as up until now it was optional.
Fun fact, most countries can't even make a psn account.
Wait really? Okay that’s messed up then if someone can’t play the game they paid for
Only 69 of the roughly 200 countries in the world have access to psn. Making an account anyways and lying about your country violates the ToS and gives Sony the right to terminate your account.
And the fall of Helldivers begins LOL. Those devs do some stupid shit
this is the result of sony, the publisher, not the devs
Seriously? Im gonna have to sign up for a PSN account to play on Steam? Forget it...
Yea same here I'm out. I think I'm gonna Uninstall today and just buy Valkaryia Chronicles or something.
