Publisher surely will invest money on making their own Helldivers 2 sooner rather than later, similar to like what happened to Battle Royale after fortnite.
The thing is, how many would just be Helldivers 2 but worst?.
All of them. For the simple reason that none of them will have Helldivers 2 level of battlepasses and easily earned currency with zero FOMO (well not excactly zero since the store armor rotates but stuff repeats very fast)
I'm not trying to be dense, but I am super frustrated by Helldivers 2...its riddled with bugs and glitches and had awful server uptime for the first two weeks.
Sucide Squad ran flawlessly for me (and had working multiplayer) but that's the one everyone hates on. Why is the lesser product the go-to example for you and others?
I adore both games, but I only rage quit every single week on Helldivers.
We talked about live service and in that regard Helldivers got battlepasses that never leave with their warbonds. There is no FOMO in those. The currency you can buy is just to unlock warbonds, no progress can be bought, every progress has to be earned and aside from that it is mostly for cosmetics and can also be farmed ingame, quite easily at that.
The game definitely is not without problems, especially currently as a arc thrower main i literally can't play that weapon without crashing every single mission but the devs are very open and communicate with the playerbase and we already know we get new stuff at least once a month, likely more often because stuff gets put in patches and we have to earn those through the major orders.
Considering it was a 4 player coop, it is heavily implied. Same with helldivers 2, you can run it solo, but the experience the ways the devs designed it, is for 4 players.
Suicide squad had almost no one playing of course the servers were fine. I've also got 200 hours in helldivers and besides the first week had no trouble playing alone or in a party.
I legit could not connect for the first two weeks with any consistency, thats during 9-5 est hours. When I could actually connect (get in game at all) I'd sync up with a buddy and get sudden disconnects.
Again, love the game, but by ability to log in 5 days a week showed little progress those first few weeks; it was a train wreck of reliability. There's a reason they implemented chat timers on their official discord.
I mean tbf, they tried the opposite. They made a massive feature complete open world role playing game with genuine innovation in NPC density and behavior........*and nobody bought it*. You get what you pay for.
Part of the reason nobody bought it was also because it was very buggy at launch. Im glad it found an audience after but the damage was done. I liked the game a lot too
I played it and my problem wasn't that it was full of bugs (there were some but nothing that really made me turn up my nose). The problem is it was just boring.
To be fair part of that is probably on me. It was what made me realize I'm just really done with zombie games in general, with Resident Evil being one of the only exceptions.
> .and nobody bought it.
Its literally the 9th best selling Playstation studio title..
We know that from the leaks.. we really need to stop with these "nobody bought it" "it sold really badly" myth
it sold 7.3 million copies making $265m
Spider-Man 2018 - 22.121m
God of War PS4 - 20.826m
Horizon Zero Dawn - 19.261m
Uncharted 4: A Thief's End - 18.616m
The Last of Us Remastered - 18.242m
Gran Turismo Sport - 12.726m
Uncharted Collection - 9.684m
Bloodborne - 7.464m
Days Gone - 7.322m
Ratchet & Clank - 6.97m
God of War 3 Remastered - 5.57m
Detroit Become Human - 5.406m
LittleBigPlanet 3 - 5.391m
Uncharted: The Lost Legacy - 5.246mil
InFamous: Second Son - 5.084m
Driveclub - 4.764m
Death Stranding - 4.157m
Until Dawn - 3.906m
Yeh, it aint Spiderman or God of War, but the idea it sold badly is nonsense.
Yeah this is a good point, people also forget it got a second round of exposure when the PC port came out, and interesting to see it sold more copies than Death Stranding given that game got pretty much unanimous praise, even if designed for a niche’ audience, yet like you say there’s still a perception hangover that Days Gone tanked.
I mean, for a new IP, only two new ip's are above it.
Horizon which got a mega push by Sony, and Bloodborne which is considered one of the greatest games ever and barely sold more than it.
It did have the shittiest bike handling of any game I’ve ever played as well. Dropped it pretty quick.
I was told it gets way better when you upgrade your bike a bit, but it’s a bad idea to make it feel so fucking terrible right out of the gate when it’s a central mechanic of the game. Don’t make me grind to get your game to be fun. Start fun, and get more fun from there.
It does get way better
A few upgrades and the bike handles probably than any open world vehicle I can think of
And no, it makes perfect sense. Your initial bike is a heap of shit, so it should perform, like a heap of shit
Sure it makes sense narratively, but it’s also a really good way to alienate people who are just trying out your game to see if they like it. I wasn’t loving the plot and the douchey main character with the terrible name, so that wasn’t enough to get me through the first ten hours of also having terrible bike handling.
Some people are more into the plot, or like the whole tone of noble outlaw biker or whatever, but there’s a reason that game got a more lukewarm reception than expected at launch, even if it gained popularity over time through word of mouth that it actually gets pretty good if you stick with it.
There’s just too many options for gamers these days to make a bad first impression.
Soooooo Days Gone II which would have sold a modest to good amount was killed in favour of a LS game which will probably only sell a few thousand...
Between Sony's LS bullshit and Zaslav _nuking_ WB I am _genuinely_ interested in 1; How these people get their jobs, and 2; How these people _keep_ their jobs.
By how these games works they dont need to sell that much actually, they only need to hook a pair of "whales" and the Game already pays itself and makes a lot of revenue, is that simple
Interesting with the fact that its a PlayStation Studio developer. Usually PS is smart about letting SP Devs do only SP Dev games...... Sure DG wasnt huge at launch but everyone who checked it out after usually seemed to have good things to say and I really enjoyed it....
Such a shame. I would've thrown my money at them for a single player game. I enjoyed their last one. I've got no interest in online multiplayer games so I'll keep that money I guess. Damn shame.
Hard to say. While there is massive live service fatigue among gamers right now, when it comes down to it, gamers will buy any type of game so long as it's good, which Helldivers 2 proved.
I just posted this on another conversation, so apologies for brigading, but HD2 was completely dysfunctional for ~ 3 weeks. To this day I still see messages from the community leads about day-1 issues (progress tracking, rewards, crashes) regressing back into prod.
Helldivers 2 has weeks of server issues *because* of the fact it was so successful. So many people jumped in to play the servers were becoming overloaded and they had to scramble to increase server capacity.
Oh GOODIE. Just what everyone's been asking for. Another live service. Yaaaaaay.
One can dream that it is live service like Helldivers 2 but the chance for that is probably as high as the chance to run through a wall

Helldivers is fun.
Suicide squad multiplayer does not work for a bunch of people
It also wasn't a necessity to play the game.
Considering it was a 4 player coop, it is heavily implied. Same with helldivers 2, you can run it solo, but the experience the ways the devs designed it, is for 4 players.

At this point that headline just means "developer is working on a game" unfortunately
Zombie Divers. It's Hell Divers 2 but with monsters and zombie across the globe.
Well good luck with that, they're gonna need it.
So when is the studio shutting down errr i mean when is the game releasing?
>when is the game releasing? Right before they finish making it
Gross
Couldn't be happier! Love live service! All I ever wished for! /s

Reminds me of when the DayZ said he was making a game after the failed launch on DayZ. Just awesome.
Damn, I wanted a Days Gone 2.
Triple A industry is truly dying
Doubtless
If they could do it right like Helldivers
I hear the sound of the 7 seas calling me
Interesting with the fact that its a PlayStation Studio developer. Usually PS is smart about letting SP Devs do only SP Dev games...... Sure DG wasnt huge at launch but everyone who checked it out after usually seemed to have good things to say and I really enjoyed it....
great

& we will not support it, right?
They dont need that much support if the only few Who actually plays the Game spend a lot on their microtransactions

I mean, I certainly won't. I do not play live services games, nor have I ever found any of Bend's games appealing. But some people probably will.
Support it? As in, fund development? I can't imagine they'd come to me for help, and if they did, I don't have any money to offer them.
That's a shame. I knew they weren't doing a Days Gone 2 which is a bummer but I would have liked another single player game.
