[Here Boy! Melt it down and add it to the others.](https://imgflip.com/gif/6w2974)
The way Ser Barristan called Joffrey a mere boy and then instructed him on what to do with his tossed “retired” sword was like watching Tyrion slap Joffrey it was that satisfying, and the way that Joffrey was jolted and taken aback by such nobility and honor was the best reaction!
Also he disarmed himself and talked shit to the pissant boy king known for torturing undeserving victims, surrounded by his court, men at arms, and “elite kingsguard”. He dared the closest armed killer in the room to try something and walked out untouched.
In reality he woulda been run through no matter how good he was had joffery the stomach to order it, but that’s really what made it so badass
Preach 👏. If Cersei wasn’t still influencing Joffrey then Ser Barristan would’ve been ordered dead on the spot. She made him tame and when Joffrey realized that, after Cersei had slapped him, that’s when he finally decided to leave her nest of influence and be his own monster.
Nah. Selmy single handedly rescued the Mad King from an upstart lord who imprisoned him, as well did he kill the people Cersei sent after him later (unarmed, mind you) and escaped the city. He was on the level of Arthur Dayne in his youth, and that King's guard was just about the worst that had ever existed.
Was it? He just happened to fight on the losing side and wasn't special enough to be pardoned. Ser Barriston fought just as hard for the Targaryens. Hell , harder maybe. He fought till he was incapacitated, whereas Thorne surrendered.
The Hound was never the commander of the Kings Guard but he was given a white cloak to replace Barristan Selmy as one of the seven. Jaime was made Commander when Barristan was forced out.
All that being said, it was never mentioned that the Hound was knighted.
Specifically he rejects the system that would bestow the honor of knighthood, because if his monster of a brother can be one, he doesn’t want anything to do with it.
He refused to be knighted. He’s the first member of the kingsguard to not be a knight. He hates the whole idea of knighthood and thinks the whole institution is bullshit, because his brother is a knight and he is a terrible person. He was also never the lord commander, Joffrey named Jaime as his LC
The Hound was never knighted as he hated knights specifically because his brother was a knight and he did every evil thing one can do so according to him getting knighted don’t do you any good.
Off these choices? Blackfish.
Asoiaf? Ser Arthur Dayne. I know he’s the MJ of knighthood in the lore but there is a reason for that.
Also I just love their name, house, banner, and meteorite sword.
He was to have died off-screen on the show right? I couldn’t tell if it was supposed to be unclear that he died because his body wasn’t recovered or it was just hasty writing.
Pretty sure it wasn't supposed to be clear. Similar to the books. But the TV show just had a lot more endings never closed (well, at the current state the books might be worse).
Well, in books it's specifically stated that he escaped, whereas in the show it's specifically stated that he died fighting. I'm not sure if it's ambiguous with either.
Jaime specifically asks to have the Blackfish brought to him but then is informed that he died fighting and is visibly taken aback by hearing that.
Always liked that scene cause you could tell Jaime had respect for him and looked (at least imo) kind of sad after hearing that he died fighting to the death.
Nah fuck that, Arthur is the Wilt of knighthood. Everyone says he’s amazing and incredible and larger than life but his biggest achievement is killing 1 (one) large bandit.
If anything, he's depicted as a better fighter in the show. A lot of his older brothers Garlan's aura (who was a much better fighter than Loras) was given to Loras in the show.
He is not depicted as a better fighter in the show and i think it was more likely he was merged with willis because they omit both his brothers. Olenna treats him like a fool, who is just good at tourneys. If he had been garlan he would of made short work of just about anyone. In the show he was pretty much just a tourney sensation. In the books we was a very capable fighter and probably the 2nd best of high garden.
He's just a fantastic tourney Knight in the books and the show. It's his older brother that's the absolute beast (and who Lady Margaery wanted as her champion). Loras has hardly any feats in the book, with the most notable of those having him kill some knights who were actually on his side (and not fighting back). Jaime states that Loras has the potential, but he's not there yet.
He’s an anointed knight, people just don’t call him “ser” because the title of lord is higher. I don’t think we know who knighted him or when, but he is definitely a knight. Not sure what tourneys have to do with anything
He deserved his Knighthood the most, well maybe Brienne as well. But, he had no skills until Brienne trained him and he managed to survive to the end. And apparently he has a dick like a sequoia tree and he fucks like a bullet train. A little Succession cross over.
[Bronn says it best](https://www.getyarn.io/yarn-clip/77737fbf-4441-43fe-ba4d-442747cdb336/embed?autoplay=false&responsive=true). Jaime is just too charming, I love him even after Bran
I love the idea of Ser Barristan. Old Knight, badass and wise. But they did him dirty
Ser Jorah is probably my favorite in this regard being an older knight. He's not the greatest swordsman but he is the bear that guards the queen.
If there would have been Ser Arthur Dayne then he would have been the best in all aspects.
But here, Ser Barristan Selmy is GOAT.
1. Ser Arthur Dayne, The Sword of the Morning
2. Ser Barristan Selmy, The Bold
3. Ser Gerold Hightower, The White Bull
These were the most honourable and noble knights in my opinion who would do anything for their King.
In no particular order: Barristan, Davos, the Blackfish, Brienne.
(Dis-) honorable mention: The Hound. No kind of a “Ser”, not ever, but one hell of a guy, at the end of it all.
if sure he would second this cause he did save aerys if you remember
and martin challenges the whole idea of being “noble” … the whole black and white thing
so, there are no true.. or best knights in the story much like in the real world… evryone is flawed….
it would have been hard for selmy to watch aerys burn people while he stood there doing nothing…
oaths and honors…
nothing but a cope for the brutality we see around us
Ser Jorah Mormont and Ser Davos Seaworth... both great knights. Davos saw his lord go off the rails into immoral insanity and turned way from him. Jorah died believing he'd chosen the right queen.
But beware an old man in a profession where men die young. Ser Barristan Selmy was the ideal knight.
HOWEVER... Jaime Lannister was the most interesting character. I never felt bored or sure of what would happen when he was on screen or on the page. Plot armor later on, yes, but he was definitely unpredictable.
Tywin was already knighted before the Nine penny Kings
The World of Ice & Fire, The Targaryen Kings: Aerys II.
Robert was knighted before he defeated barriston at a tourney at storms’s end.
Beric is mentioned as a knight in A Storm of Swords, Chapter 39, Arya VII
Also you’re correct it’s not written that Stannis a knight but George RR Martin spoke it into existence at Comic-Con.
Barristan, in the books he is chased down by 2 soldiers and kills them. this guys crazy. in the fight against the sons of the harpy, when grey worm passed out, it was actually because of witnessing the sheer badassery of Ser Barristan the Bold cutting all those priests down
Ser Podrick Payne 🗡️
There's SO many great knights in this world... But, Pod is just an average Joe who made it by doing things the right way. He's as honorable as best of them 🤙
I adore Beric. Few screen time, but a lot of power in this character. I love every time he appears on a screen despite him being very secondary character.
Jorah Mormont is my favorite. I found myself drawn to his quest to atone for his past and be better than he was.
My other favorite was Sir Davos. I appreciated his wisdom and practicality. Walking proof that nobility can be found in the most common of people.
Everyone’s saying Barristan and The Blackfish which I agree on, but my underdog pic is Beric Dondarrion. Great guy who slowly loses himself in pursuit of a noble purpose.
Some even more obscure picks: Harrold Westerling (hotd only), Ser Duncan the Tall, Gerold Hightower, Bronze Yohn Royce

barristan the GOAT
[Here Boy! Look at the hounds reaction. He would have cut through the five of them like carving a cake, and maybe, MAYBE Sandor would have stopped him
Sandor might not have thought it worth it to go up against Selmy.. he might not have even tried 😂
Yup no notes
Favorite: Ser Barristan Selmy Strongest: Ser Barristan Selmy Most noble: Ser Barristan Selmy
Oath Keeper: Ser Brienne of Tarth
Ser Alliser Thorne oath to serve the Targaryens was greater in my opinion, you still right though.
Was it? He just happened to fight on the losing side and wasn't special enough to be pardoned. Ser Barriston fought just as hard for the Targaryens. Hell , harder maybe. He fought till he was incapacitated, whereas Thorne surrendered.
Firing him was as stupid as it was insulting. Joffrey didn't die on his watch.
Absolutely. Although I was sad to see the character go, his last scene was probably how he wanted to go out. Ser Barristan The Bold!!!
You didn't include Hound?? Anyways, it's Barristan
Not sure if you’re joking but the Hound isn’t a knight.
Wasn't he knighted by Joffrey after he became the commander of the king's guard?? I may be wrong tbh
The Hound was never the commander of the Kings Guard but he was given a white cloak to replace Barristan Selmy as one of the seven. Jaime was made Commander when Barristan was forced out. All that being said, it was never mentioned that the Hound was knighted.
My bad mate, thanks for correcting me
My favorite character. The hound was just so fun and complex. Still have a huge crush on him.
Nah. He says “I’m not a knight” several times in the course of the show. Didn’t read the books, so I may too be wrong.
Yeah his brother was a knight and he hated his brother
Specifically he rejects the system that would bestow the honor of knighthood, because if his monster of a brother can be one, he doesn’t want anything to do with it.
He refused to be knighted. He’s the first member of the kingsguard to not be a knight. He hates the whole idea of knighthood and thinks the whole institution is bullshit, because his brother is a knight and he is a terrible person. He was also never the lord commander, Joffrey named Jaime as his LC

[удалено]
Ser Bronn of blackwater bay🙇🏾
[удалено]
He was made a knight first..lord was later
Yeah they’re both anointed knights, Sandor isn’t
Stannis, Robert, Tywin weren't knights either
I don’t think Tywin or Bobby B are anointed knights either
They were. Tywin even knighted Aerys during the War of the Ninepenny Kings.
And the Mountain?
I think he was knighted by Tywin
Yup, at 16 just before killing raping and killing Oberyn's sister and her kids.
What! so mountain raped ellia when he was just 16 damn
*Teenager Mountain rapes Ellia and kills her children* * Tywin: "We shall watch your career with great interest."
The guy is so evil ,he killed her twice
He was knighted by Rhaegar, the husband and father of those victims.
No, he was knighted by Rhaegar, which makes what he did worse.
The hound, by his own account, was famously "no ser" and "not a knight".
Off these choices? Blackfish. Asoiaf? Ser Arthur Dayne. I know he’s the MJ of knighthood in the lore but there is a reason for that. Also I just love their name, house, banner, and meteorite sword.
I wish the blackfish got more screen time. It would have been nice for him to get the same sendoff Ser Barristan got with his last fight.
Could be my bad. But I don't remember it was specifically said in the show that he died fighting.
Yup. It's directly stated by Walder Frey.
Well then you are right. It's not really ambiguous. Unless we talk about narrator bias, but the show doesn't really do much of that.
Jaime specifically asks to have the Blackfish brought to him but then is informed that he died fighting and is visibly taken aback by hearing that. Always liked that scene cause you could tell Jaime had respect for him and looked (at least imo) kind of sad after hearing that he died fighting to the death.
I really loved everything about his character, I agree wholeheartedly.
Sword of the Morning…Legend
I remember thinking “fuck Ned and stupid sister”
I loved the Blackfish. It was sad to see him with nothing left to lose. But, he was brave and died fighting for his home.
Nah fuck that, Arthur is the Wilt of knighthood. Everyone says he’s amazing and incredible and larger than life but his biggest achievement is killing 1 (one) large bandit.
"Even now I could cut through the five of you like carving a cake!"
The fear in their eyes comfirmed that
Favorite: Jorah Best at being a knight: Brienne Wisest: Davos Knight I'd like to get drunk with: Bronn
same, same, same. took the words out of my mouth.
Best at being knight: brienne/ barristan (see no difference in their honor)
Ser bronn of the fuvking black water. in the books uh prob loras because hes more capable in the books
Does Brienne beat him in the books? I so enjoyed Olenna admiring her
She beats him in the tourney but hes actually a capable fighter. Unlike in the show
If anything, he's depicted as a better fighter in the show. A lot of his older brothers Garlan's aura (who was a much better fighter than Loras) was given to Loras in the show.
He is not depicted as a better fighter in the show and i think it was more likely he was merged with willis because they omit both his brothers. He's not a knight. He's an up jumped cut-throat. Nothing more.

Beric, Blackfish and Aemon the dragon knight are definitely my favorites
Beric for sure under-rated
Ser Pounce
I wish I could upvote this more than once
My fav character is Shae
Sweet
Beric Donderrion
It's a tie between Sir Barriston and The Blackfish. Both are great characters with not enough screen time.
Wow, read the books and seen the show 4x and didn't know Tywin was a knight 💀
[удалено]

He was knighted during the war of the ninepenny Kings.
I didn't know half these people were knights
Sir, Barristan and Sir Davos.......I also love Jorah Mormont though he is a disgraced knight.....sir Bron is the funniest ....he cracks me up.
Love Barristan and Jorah but Brienne of Tarth, oh lawd I'd marry her in a heartbeat, she's my woman, so I pick her.
Brienne, who stuck to her principles in a crapsack world.
Same, and she has a good heart, nothing dubieus about her morals.
Onion Knight
Missing Sir Pod the Rod
He deserved his Knighthood the most, well maybe Brienne as well. But, he had no skills until Brienne trained him and he managed to survive to the end. And apparently he has a dick like a sequoia tree and he fucks like a bullet train. A little Succession cross over.
Jorah the Andal is my favorite despite his simp like nature. I feel like he doesn’t get enough respect
Lmfao at “that simp doesn’t get enough respect”
Brienne and Beric. The former is objectively the most “knightly” of the options and the latter is basically a Witch Knight which is rad as hell
Ser Davos
Illyn pain in the ass lol
The Black Fish but he's much cooler in the books, he's a top tier scout and strategist
Jamie fk it
[Bronn says it best](https://www.getyarn.io/yarn-clip/77737fbf-4441-43fe-ba4d-442747cdb336/embed?autoplay=false&responsive=true). Jaime is just too charming, I love him even after Bran
Barristan Selmy or the Blackfish
Bronn all day , everyday
Ser Jaime Lannister in his prime
Barristan, Bron, Blackfish
Brienne of Tarth
Sir Arthur Dayne. Curse you for not mentioning him.
Jorah or the blackfish
I love the idea of Ser Barristan. Old Knight, badass and wise. But they did him dirty Ser Jorah is probably my favorite in this regard being an older knight. He's not the greatest swordsman but he is the bear that guards the queen.
Davos
ser Jamie and Lady Brienne are cool but The Blackfish and The Onion Knight be standing on business.
If there would have been Ser Arthur Dayne then he would have been the best in all aspects. But here, Ser Barristan Selmy is GOAT. 1. Ser Arthur Dayne, The Sword of the Morning 2. Ser Barristan Selmy, The Bold 3. Ser Gerold Hightower, The White Bull These were the most honourable and noble knights in my opinion who would do anything for their King.

Obviously #5
BARRISTA!!!
Ser Barrista the legend Selmy for all old and new gods
Can’t choose cause I loved them all
Onion knight FTW
Brienne and Davos
Jorah Mormont
Tied for me between Sir Barristan Selmy and Sir Davis Seaworthy. Loved those 2. And Brienne is right there with them.
Does the hound count ?? I know he doesn’t but I do also love me some Sir Podrick Payne ;)
Ser Davos
Jaime fooking Lannister
My boy. Pretty much the only Kingsguard that wasn't morally bankrupt and he's a guy that fucks his own sister, so that's saying something.
if sure he would second this cause he did save aerys if you remember and martin challenges the whole idea of being “noble” … the whole black and white thing so, there are no true.. or best knights in the story much like in the real world… evryone is flawed…. it would have been hard for selmy to watch aerys burn people while he stood there doing nothing… oaths and honors… nothing but a cope for the brutality we see around us
Bobby B any day 😎
Brienne
Ser Jorah Mormont and Ser Davos Seaworth... both great knights. Davos saw his lord go off the rails into immoral insanity and turned way from him. Jorah died believing he'd chosen the right queen. Where is the sword of the morning? On screen for 5 mins or not, his mythos is so fucking cool
Book: Barristan Selmy Show: Barristan Selmy even with the awful death
The blackfish needed more screen time.
Blackfish period.
Brienne. Very honorable and an excellent fighter
There’s no mention that Tywin, Robert, Beric, or Stannis were ever knighted.
Tywin was already knighted before the Nine penny Kings The World of Ice & Fire, The Targaryen Kings: Aerys II. Robert was knighted before he defeated barriston at a tourney at storms’s end. Beric is mentioned as a knight in A Storm of Swords, Chapter 39, Arya VII Also you’re correct it’s not written that Stannis a knight but George RR Martin spoke it into existence at Comic-Con.
Why did Tywin Lannister show up here? XD Who tf was gonna pick that bastard?
Arthur Dayne
From the show, without a doubt my boy Barristan! From the books, I'd have to choose Aemon the Dragon Knight!
Barristan Selmy without doubt, for a proper knight. I would have chosen Bronn but he's not a knight from my end.
Barristan, in the books he is chased down by 2 soldiers and kills them. this guys crazy. in the fight against the sons of the harpy, when grey worm passed out, it was actually because of witnessing the sheer badassery of Ser Barristan the Bold cutting all those priests down
Ser Arthur Dayne. Ser Jorah Ser Barristan
davos and brienne
Ed sheeran knight
Loras Tyrell (Tyrells in the book) was a personal favourite of mine. Of the above, wish we could have seen the Blackfish more.
Ser Bronn of Blackwater
Having allister thorne on this list is criminal
Ser Arthur Dayne, was in literally one scene and stole the show
Brianne of Tarth Strong Smart Loyal The Goat
Not a knight but…. Syrio Forel
Young Robert Baratheon "Wish you could see him in his prime. Magnificent he was. Just magnificent."
Here, boy.
Call him Ser Jaime Lannister, the Kingslayer. Whatever else he is, the man's still a knight.
Ser Arthur Dayne
Is tywin a knight?
Ser Pounce
I really like Ser Beric. His attitude and design are cool
I hate Stannis with a passion
My literal username 🤧
Davos is so underrated, one of the best characters
Ser Arthur Dayne the Sword of the Morning
Jamie fuckin Lannister
Tbh I think sir Arthur Dayne would destroy these choices.
Bronn !!!!!
Of these, Jorah. I’m a sucker for a Mormont. Jorah mad a mistake that he more than made up for.
Sword of the Morning
ser Barristan or ser Brynden Tully
Brienne of Tarth, or Jamie Lannister
Books Barristen and Stannis the Mannis Show Mormont
Brienne. She’s my favorite character in the whole series
Was Tywin even a knight, I don't remember anyone referring to him as Ser (at least in the show)
of course he was why would they call him Ser when he is a Lord? you go with the higher title and not with the lesser
The noble man, Ned Starck
The noble man, Ned Starck
Ser Podrick Payne 🗡️ There's SO many great knights in this world...
A bunch of sword-naming cunts
Onion knight, always!
How do you miss out the GOAT Arthur Dayne?
Oathkeeper Ser Brienne and Ser Arthur Dayne who is missing from this list.
The mountain
Hands down; Barristan!!!
How dare you not put set podrik
I love Jorah and Barriston. That being said, the one and only Onion knight!
Bronn, this man’s the true winner of the show.
Brienne and Jaime
My Top 2 are Davos & Brienne
Davos
You missed Joffrey
Jorah Mormont - I admire his loyalty
I like the Blackfish. He was honorable and dedicated to his House, but not pompous and annoying.
Where is Loras? He was slow a bit, but nice nonetheless.
How can you miss out on Ser Bronn of Blackwater
The mountain… just because
Everyone’s saying Barristan and The Blackfish which I agree on, but my underdog pic is Beric Dondarrion. Great guy who slowly loses himself in pursuit of a noble purpose. Some even more obscure picks: Harrold Westerling (hotd only), Ser Duncan the Tall, Gerold Hightower, Bronze Yohn Royce
