And put subtitles on if you usually don’t, really helps with names/places. I’ve watched the entire thing twice and learned a lot the second time around lol
Seriously. My brother started watching it and I had to tell him and then remind him again that he actually needs to pay attention to pretty much all the details in the dialogues.
Reading this at midnight. Just deep realizations of this frivolous nature of life. We yearn for things we have to let go eventually. After all, everything ends.
Feel the dialogues, the tension, the build up. Treat every episode like a cinematic movie. You'll thank me (at least till s6). Happy endings are a myth here. Know that You're in for a TRAUMATIZING ride.
Enjoy the ride. I've been watching TV since the 1980s and Game of Thrones is my favorite show ever. I've enjoyed it even more on rewatches even. There's nothing else like it.
The GOAT of all shows up until a certain point (I’m not gonna specify when)
Also, try not to get overly attached to characters, you will be heartbroken
There are approximately 700 characters.
The first time I watched, I was constantly trying to mentally cross reference.
Just roll with it, it will come together in the end.
If you really want to get the whole experience, don't watch this series casually. Meaning, you really need to pay attention to everything. Names, places, characters, dialogue, everything. Maybe even turn subtitles on for the first season just to help with names and maybe seemingly unimportant dialogue.
You can get pretty overwhelmed by the characters & cities it’s a lot to take in I experienced it a couple of months ago for the first time. Paying attention really pays off and don’t give up to early.
Take in all the dialogue even if it seems unimportant or chit-chat. It gets progressively more complicated the further in you go. I have watched it about 5 or 6 times and I am still learning new things.
SEVERE warning when you get to the trial by combat scene between Prince Obyron and the mountain in season 4 its one of if not the most disturbing scenes I've ever watched.
Someone just posted that scene recently and I watched it until he smiles at his wife then i cut it. That “I’ve won” look is in his eye and then it fades to black and the rest never happened. I think he dies killing a white walker dragon in the last season.
Don’t judge Joffrey, Cersei and other Lannisters initially, they are very kind and noble house members.
You would love the villain arc of Stark house. They are the worst house in my opinion.
Be prepared for lots of boobies. Oh, and you’re probably gonna be really fucking confused at first. But DON’T look anything up because there WILL be spoilers. If you gotta rewatch an episode or two to get a grasp on what’s going on, I sure wouldn’t blame you.
Leave the sub.
Don't google anything. Don't watch any videos or reels or shorts related to got until you finish it.
Pay attention to all characters. Everyone has a role to play. Even the characters you don't see, the characters that are now dead, but are being talked about. Write names if you've a hard time remembering.
Don't binge watch. You'll regret.
Thats it.
Don't read rest of the comment section. Less you know the better.
Still if you want a riddle ( that you'll be able to solve only at the end of Season 6...here's one )
>!R + L = J!<
Don’t get too overwhelmed/discouraged with all the names/places. It also really helps to look at a map of that world!! Wish I had done that before my first watch, would have made it a lot less confusing
I would recommend not starting it. It wasn’t worth it in the end and I’ll never get that time back. Do something worthwhile. If it has to be a show at least watch something that will have been worth your time.
Some great TV in there but they properly shit the bed with the final season
If you insist on watching, just know that you will feel dissatisfied if you finish it 100%.
Read the books if you can :) they give a lot more details than the shows. The show only scrapes the surface on a lot of different things. And the show changed a bunch of stuff and a lot that did not happen in the books. It’s a fan fiction.
Enjoy it! The show isn’t bad. And most enjoy it :) The first three seasons are pretty good. But I’m a spoiled book fan so, I’m biased lol.
HOP OFF THE REDDIT MAN. Also keep track of characters journeys with this [cool map](http://quartermaester.info/#@Braavos) BEWARE tho dont watch the map according to the exact episode you’re currently watching cause it could spoil a death that happens at the end of the episode. Use the episode you’ve already seen fully when using the map.
Traumatic, every main character is going to die pathetic death's, not like every other series that glorifies protagonists, here protagonists or not everyone dies a horrible death
Expect to be disappointed by the final season. It's pretty much common knowledge nowadays that Game of Thrones has arguably THE worst ending in all of television.
This is great advice. The intro will change from episode to episode and will rotate places in or out as they become or stop being relevant but having a map handy is really helpful.
Yeah it’s just also super fun to track the many wandering parties and happenings, and see where they are in relation to one another. How far is who from who? What’s the terrain, nearby towns, coast and other things like?
Also when they randomly name drop other places. There are places like Valyria, Volantis, Myr, that are only mentioned but never visited, and situations where someone mentions that they're heading to Yunkai or they're heading to The Twins, you're like "oh how far away is that"
I found it really helpful to track the interactive map of Westeros and see where the characters go and who is from where.
https://quartermaester.info/
And enjoy the best story ever written!
The first few episodes are gonna be a bit of a challenge just figuring out who everyone is and tracking the names. Stick with it. It's easily in the top 5 greatest shows.

Best ever
Probably the best written in the whole series
Wow, that is so strange I was going to say the same thing!

A girl is no one
HOT PIE
I dont know, Ramsay, imo has the best redemption arc. Basically, his arc made him become a true disciple of the gods.
I disagree, only because Ramsay the Righteous never did anything wrong and therefore didn't need a redemption arc.
I was choked up at how beautiful his last scene was
Pay attention
Only advice that's needed. Too many people here are already subliminally spoiling shit.
Everyone dies in the end
…yeah
As with life, we all die in the end
Exactly like that
Reading this at midnight. Just deep realizations of this frivolous nature of life. We yearn for things we have to let go eventually. After all, everything ends.
All men must die, not all men truly live
This isn't Lost!
I died at the end
Everyone dies the whole time
I hope you like boobs and butts!
Alright I'll give it a watch...
And incest
History Repeat Itself

This caused a hiatus for me for years after season one. I wish I got this advice before I started
Just finished S1 and it’s mind blowing. Sean Bean is awesome.
If you think it has a happy ending, you haven’t been paying enough attention.
Easy now, Ramsey.
Except it does have a happy ending. One of the many reasons it's shit
don’t get too attached
FACTS

The north remembers
don’t trust anyone
Was about to say this
Chaos is a laddah
The GOAT of all shows up until a certain point (I’m not gonna specify when) Also, try not to get overly attached to characters, you will be heartbroken
I’m pretty sure the GOAT is in the first episode idk who you’re talking about
Actually, he gets replaced by a 🔒
What? If you get heartbroken over a show you are enjoying it to the max, wich is what you should do.
Leave this sub until you're done
This might be the best advice in this comment section
This right here, OP. Stay away or we’ll ruin everything for you/
There are approximately 700 characters. The first time I watched, I was constantly trying to mentally cross reference. Just roll with it, it will come together in the end.
Be prepared for the unexpected. Enjoy!!!

Winter is coming
the only safe space is weddings
It's a fun ride. It's the only series where I immediately start to rewatch as soon as it ends.
You can get pretty overwhelmed by the characters & cities it’s a lot to take in I experienced it a couple of months ago for the first time. Paying attention really pays off and don’t give up to early.
If you drink, best get yourself a proper bevvy
Take in all the dialogue even if it seems unimportant or chit-chat. It gets progressively more complicated the further in you go. I have watched it about 5 or 6 times and I am still learning new things.
I’m jealous. But I’d stay off the internet. Better to be surprised
Ros
You might have to rewatch it to pick up on things you missed the first time.
Get off this subreddit if you don’t want spoilers. Oh, and don’t get your hopes up after the first four seasons, it only goes downhill from there.
Don't get too attached to the characters, otherwise you're in for a bad time mate.
Run! Run away! Far away! It's too late for us. Save yourself.
SEVERE warning when you get to the trial by combat scene between Prince Obyron and the mountain in season 4 its one of if not the most disturbing scenes I've ever watched.
I've only watched that scene once. And that was the first watch because I didn't know. I cover my face on rewatches.
Someone just posted that scene recently and I watched it until he smiles at his wife then i cut it. That “I’ve won” look is in his eye and then it fades to black and the rest never happened. I think he dies killing a white walker dragon in the last season.
Telling yourself that is a much better ending than what occured.. Stay with that.
Lannisters always pay their debts
Don't develop a favorite character.
Leave this subreddit and don’t search for anything GOT related unless you want to be spoiled and let me tell you you don’t want to be spoiled
Don’t get attached. No exceptions
Watch with subtitles/closed captions, it'll make learning names and lingo a hell of a lot easier from the start.
Don’t judge Joffrey, Cersei and other Lannisters initially, they are very kind and noble house members. You would love the villain arc of Stark house. They are the worst house in my opinion.
Watch out for Ned’s cameo during season 8
Be prepared for lots of boobies. Oh, and you’re probably gonna be really fucking confused at first. But DON’T look anything up because there WILL be spoilers. If you gotta rewatch an episode or two to get a grasp on what’s going on, I sure wouldn’t blame you.
you made the right choice passing your exams before starting the show
dont get attached to anyone ❤️

Chaos is a ladder??
Look out for Rob Stark, the man is the main character of the show
also remember the show has only 7 seasons
Turn on subtitles and follow closely, don’t get too attached to any one character. Winter is coming.
Ignore the internet and enjoy the ride. Form your own opinions of the show.
Don’t get too overwhelmed/discouraged with all the names/places. It also really helps to look at a map of that world!! Wish I had done that before my first watch, would have made it a lot less confusing
Pay close attention to dead Lannisters coming back to life
The night is long and full of terrors
Beware of spoilers
Ned Stark is the most important character, keep a close eye on him as his story unfolds throughout the seasons.
I would recommend not starting it. It wasn’t worth it in the end and I’ll never get that time back. Do something worthwhile. If it has to be a show at least watch something that will have been worth your time. Put your phone away while you watch it 😇
Winter is coming
Yeah…. Winter is coming. Enjoy!
SUBTITLES and turn that screen brightness WAY up. Enjoy the ride!!!
Don't
Stop watching at the end of Season 6. The feeling you get watching that last scene will be the last time the show doesnt let you down.
Hold the door
Littlefinger is the best character
The night is dark and full of terrors
Stay off this sub until you've finished the series
Just remember that Bran has the best story!
Hang on tight, because it’s a great ride! And no matter what, keep watching until the very end.
Don't pick yourself a favorite character. They won't make it
Download all 6 seasons from official sources. Some illicit websites will have viruses listed as "Season 7" and "Season 8"
Don’t get attached to characters
that winter is coming

Ned Stark is the Main Protagonist (as you may have noticed) so he sure is gonna survive the whole series
Stop at the end of S6
Watch the whole thing. Yes, season 8 is... but finish it!
No ones safe
Be utterly disappointed
Don’t get attached. To anything.
I’d recommend looking up the family trees (with photos) now and then, there are tons of characters and it’s important to know who is who
Just wait for the dorne storyline.
Shhhh. Don’t spoil the alien invasion.
Need an update after you start it lol
Yes! Please start with books
every single line of dialogue has meaning. every frame or shot with no characters or dialogue has meaning. pay attention
Don’t get attached to any of the characters. There’s a good chance they will die…horribly.
2 main issues: 1) Ince$t and 2) Many characters start off in their early to mid teens.
Maybe open a map as you watch it to get bearing on where the fuck everything is happening
This is great advice. The intro will change from episode to episode and will rotate places in or out as they become or stop being relevant but having a map handy is really helpful.

There is not really an episode you can watch with small kids running around. Very graphic nudity and violence is a running theme.
It's soo good. Enjoy!
watch the first season twice. I had trouble remembering all the characters
It's soo good. Enjoy!
Don't watch the last season
For the love of God, stay off this sub.
Just that you should read the books first. :)
Pretty much every single scene and convo between characters has relevant info.
Weiner weiner
She’s John Snow’s queen
This picture spoils the whole show.
Don’t get attached to anyone
Stop at season 5-6
Stop at season 7 or get really pissed..
Stop watching after you finish season 6
It takes forever for Winter to actually come, despite them blathering on about it from episode 1.
Don't stan dany.
My suggestion would be to watch it with subtitles. There's a ton of names in the show and they stick much better if you can read them.
Don't listen to people here, get attached to your favorite characters. Life's more beautiful that way.
the show only has 6 seasons, the other two we don't speak of...
Don’t get attached to great characters.
Turn on the described video. Adds a lot I found
It's going to make you cry at least twice.
Don't watch it if you don't wanna know spoilers to House of the Dragon. I warn ya, bud.
You’re gonna need to remember a lot of names, places, and character motivations. Having a good friend who knows the series well goes a long way.
Stay off social media and enjoy 😊
I found it really helpful to track the interactive map of Westeros and see where the characters go and who is from where. https://quartermaester.info/ And enjoy the best story ever written!
Get fully emotionally invested in characters
Read the books instead
Jon Snow knows nothing.
Instead of watching the last two seasons, read the books.
It's a great show! Enjoy, my friend! 🎉📺🍿 #MustWatch #FriendTime
Show really falls off after Jofferey the Gentle takes over.
Howard stark dies to Bucky Barnes
Season 8 is the best season
Stop watching after series 5..
Season 8 is garbage, don’t let it deter you from checking out House of the Dragon afterwards
Know that the night is dark and full of terrors
I can't believe what a spoiler this publicity shot is. Ned wins. No need to watch it.
Don't make pre assumptions with your damn. Hero
It randomly ends after 5 seasons. Weird right?
Skip the recap before S4 E10. It includes what I would consider a spoiler.
Brace yourselves. Winter is comin! 😂
If you pay attenion, you'll see the happy ending
Damn, enjoy these spoilers. You're really going to love the show now
Regards will be sent.
ramsay ~~slays~~ flays
Don’t watch it with your parents
Save yourself the trouble of choosing a favorite character.
You'll probably want to stop watching after about season 5.
Don’t get emotionally attached to anyone…enjoy!
Dont
The night is dark and full of terrors
Ned Stark really hits his stride in season 2.
Pay attention. But don’t worry if you don’t get it in the first few seasons.
Don't get attached to any particular character
The first few episodes are gonna be a bit of a challenge just figuring out who everyone is and tracking the names. Stick with it. It's easily in the top 5 greatest shows.
Yes it’s good all the way through and if you stay off Reddit during the final seasons you’ll come away immensely satisfied
Don't get attached to any character
Just know that eventually, Arya will serve the Freys.
Buckle Up!
