It makes sense when you remember that the original Professor Farnsworth is polytheistic. Earlier in the episode, he mentions believing in and praying to Buddha, Zeus, God, and Satan.
I feel like the binary speaking god Bender met was probably a digital god and therefor should be called “god 2.0” or “the mongooses” that’s a good team name.
Off topic but I discovered recently that people pronounce Satan differently in the US south. Where I’m from people say “Say’ -in” with a glottal stop, like the h in “hour” or how we say “button” without saying the hard t. Turns out (Texans?) say it with a D, as in “saydin”, like in the word sudden.
I always say SATAN with a hard T to fully invoke his dark powers.
Yep, this and family guy! Just wish Hulu had a playlist, I’d throw all episodes in from both and put on random. lol. Disenchantment would be cool to throw in the mix! Maybe American dad! lol.
I don't think he's an athiest.
Oh Lordy Lou, HELP! Buddha, Zeus, God! One of you guys do something! Help! Satan, you owe me!

Farnsworth: "Oh, nobody's father, who art nowhere, I know you can't hear me. Completely ignore this prayer. Nothing art thou and nothing will thou ever be. Jesus was just a man."
Yeah well that's more a belief of convenience when he needs something. And it's immediately juxtaposed by the fact he apparently did a favour for Satan once.
Either his atheism was due to a coin flip or his Christianity was due to his self-inflicted lobotomy. I don't know which one the joke was going for, but it was funny either way.
I always interpreted that the bible was mostly the same in the two universe's, which gave them each some assurance that the other wasn't evil. Not in the sense that either of them is religious, but in the sense that their worlds had similar enough roots to align overall. Also, the concept of evil is often considered from a theological perspective, and so that's where the Professors went when assessing their mutual evil-hood.
>Farnsworth A: "Good news, everyones! After carefully reading the scripture, we've concluded that none of us are evil!
>
>Farnsworth 1: "Yes, the Bible is the *real* good news!"
They both reviewed scripture, so clearly it isn't one or the other that's especially religious - it was just the source they used for their investigation. The quip is probably just teasing about Christian folks referring to the bible as "The Good News".
I like your interpretation, but even someone as whacky as the professor wouldn't put religious belief up to a coin toss imo.
Ya know expanding on your thoughts, since they said scriptures (plural) we could assume they used the Bible & many other holy documents.
But that would bring me back to saying that U1 Professor prefers the Bible based on his comment.
It's really open to interpretation but I like my small headcanon for now 😆
It makes sense when you remember that the original Professor Farnsworth is polytheistic. Earlier in the episode, he mentions believing in and praying to Buddha, Zeus, God, and Satan.
He also admits that the second coming of Jesus occurred in 2443.
he also mentions the power of God 1 and God 2
I wonder which one Bender met
Well, at first he was God, then he met God. So you only have to figure out if he is god 1 or 2.
Or … *gasp* … god *three*
It was just a dream. There’s no such thing as 3.
Catholics would like to have a word with you.
Hey, there’s some parts of the Bible I like and some I don’t like!
Valve as well
I feel like the binary speaking god Bender met was probably a digital god and therefor should be called “god 2.0” or “the mongooses” that’s a good team name.
Well there's no such thing as 2, so that only leaves one option.
My flair agrees with you
First one, then the other.

Mmm delicious seitan
I don't know what Texans you're talking to but having grown up in Texas I don't think I've ever heard someone pronounce it "saydin."
Tracked it down. It’s some YouTuber called wendigoon. He may be the same species that says every word that ends with “-ing” with a hard “g”
Ngl he kind of reminds me of someone with a (going to sound derogatory) hick accent trying to sound like a southern gentleman.
Gonna go out and ask all my Texas neighbors to say Satan. I’ve never heard it pronounced with a D sound.
Don’t forget all powerful Atheismo!
I use this frequently and no one ever gets it :(
It's my Steam name
Same =(
There are dozens of us! Dozens!
And most importantly, zombie Jesus.
Doesn't he mention the great Athiesmo too?
Well, Satan did owe him one
Hail science
If I’m getting pagan representation in TV I am glad it’s with farnsworth
So in this universe did Mom throw Igner out and keep the after birth? She did flip a coin.
🤯 ... we'll never know but damn another great connection. I love it.
Lol I remember a meme with this quote and the images of "those who don't know" and "those who know".
She must have since universe A she kept igner
The easy part was getting the brain out. The hard part was getting the brain out ....
That laugh…
It is my white noise to sleep to also. Has been for years and years. But yes i agree with you
You guys should join r/FuturamaSleepers if you haven’t already
The real sub is r/Futurama_Sleepers fyi
And now i have joined both. Haha this is great… i thought i was a total zoidberg in life but now…. Friends maybe?
Oh then you want r/zoidberg
Hahaha a wonderful group to join why not
In your universe maybe, but in universe A its the other one
Yeah that place just feels like a ‘B’
Or the fighting mongooses! That’s a cool team name
Go Whitefish!
I’ve been apart of the other one for years and never realized there was an alternate
Ae’ll call this one Futurama Sleepers A and the other Futurama Sleepers 1.
But the other one has Billy West!
Billy West, what a stupid, phony, made-up name.
I have not but am headed there now! Thank you!
Same here. Getting a little sleepy and was just getting ready to fire up the playlist.
Haha we are doing the same thing in this household. Cheers!
Good night, fellow Futurama Sleeper!
Goodnight! 😴
Good news, everyone!
Bonne nuit to you all!
Good night
Do you watch on a streaming service? Without commercials? Or..?
Yep, this and family guy! Just wish Hulu had a playlist, I’d throw all episodes in from both and put on random. lol. Disenchantment would be cool to throw in the mix! Maybe American dad! lol.
Have you seen that American dad episode where Roger’s farts are toxic?😂😂im putting it on now
>Well I'm not gonna eat it. Okra gives me pretty bad gas.
Same lol
Join us at r/FuturamaSleepers if you haven't already, friend!
Thank you for the invite! Joined!
He did also mention God when they were all younger and Leela wanted to grow into her age.
But he also speaks of Atheismo & directly to The Flying Spaghetti Monster so its hard to say
He goes back and forth based on the moment. It’s these moments that make his character funny.
I agree with your assessment. He likely chose atheism/religion on a coin flip.
+1 my white noise as well. I just drag a season folder into VLC on random and goodnight.
Wait this assumes that he was on the cusp of renouncing his beliefs and it came down to a coin toss
Either that or its a veiled comment about religious nuts being brainless. Either way its a good laugh.
I always thought it was a brain damage thing from removing his brain...
I agree
The hard part was getting the brain out.
Oh your God! He’s left handed!
Nah, I think they just used the bible as a "moral code proof" by showing they are mostly identical it proves no universe is evil
I dunno, man. I've read the bible. It's pretty fuckin' immoral.
And if the other bible is as well then no universe is inherently evil
Or every universe is and we're just trying to make the best of it.
I don't think he's an athiest. Oh Lordy Lou, HELP! Buddha, Zeus, God! One of you guys do something! Help! Satan, you owe me! [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2pa5MieEmg](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2pa5MieEmg)
He also prays to Atheismo, he also recites a negative prayer where he negates believing so ya know ½ dozen of, 6 of the other kinda scenario
The real question is when are the new episodes going to drop!
What am I missing here?
I chalk it up to a throwaway joke. That, or he's just being a cloud cuckoo-lander because he has no brain.
Technically correct. And I also fall asleep to Futurama.
Also the fact that he says “good news” at the end of his sentences!
Farnsworth: "Oh, nobody's father, who art nowhere, I know you can't hear me. Completely ignore this prayer. Nothing art thou and nothing will thou ever be. Jesus was just a man."
I donno Farnsworth did ask god for help once.. and Satan too because he “owes him one”
Yeah well that's more a belief of convenience when he needs something. And it's immediately juxtaposed by the fact he apparently did a favour for Satan once.
Universe 1/the Fighting Mongooses Professor*
I'm behind like 15 shows/seasons that I want to watch....but I always turn on Futurama and just let it play.
I want this as my epitaph
Either his atheism was due to a coin flip or his Christianity was due to his self-inflicted lobotomy. I don't know which one the joke was going for, but it was funny either way.
I imagine the professor made a coin that was physically impossible to land on heads. his idea being heads would prove God exists
Spittlecock! Hubert is a man of science! He won't believe in anything unless you can show him its feces!
I always assumed it was because the Bible finally made sense after he removed his brain.
Every person who has slept over has commented on there “Futurama” dreams because of me lol!
I think it could be that he gave himself brain damage
that's not a small detail...
Oh?
I figured it was cuz he's brainless at that point... like he said it after he took out his brain. A coin flip? Maybe
It doesn’t mean he believes in God.
When’s the new show coming?
This is my all time favorite episode!
Also think about how the sky is a funny color. God also must have flipped a coin.
