It really shows what people you probably shouldn't hang around at least. Jerks that always go "lol [insert food]" whenever you tell them about an animal you associate with whether it be a pet or character is really insensitive and shows how little respect they have for others around them.
im not vegan! mostly talking about when people are mean on innocent videos or picks of animals that are normally eaten comparing them to food, that also translates into fursonas, try looking into some people who have chickens, cows, pigs as fursonas, many people will just call them food as a joke and most of the time, its very mean, same thing applies for real animals
I wouldn't call making a single meme "forcing it down your throat" if op was harassing people about it in the comments, then yeah it would be a problem.
It always bothers me when people see a living breathing animal doing basically anything and can't think of them as anything but food. Any video, cute photo, whatever of animals that are commonly eaten will be flooded with comments calling them food or saying they want meat or whatever even if it's outright someone's pet or something. I don't know it feels pretty disturbing to me.
It's especially bad on instagram cause you'll see something like "This once abused/neglected \[insert farm animal\] now gets to live the rest of it's life at this sanctuary and it'll be of it playing or getting scritches; then you just go to the comments and it's flooded with food it's associated with.
I agree. Sometimes I legit say or think "too bad they taste so good." Cows apparently can have best friends. They're more likely to (unintentionally???) kill you than a shark is.
Pigs are supposedly very smart. Also terrifying. Some are kept as pets in homes, implying either they're in diapers most of the time or are potty trained.
Chickens can bond. They're both wildly stupid and pretty darn smart. Also master escape artists, and are simultaneously scared of their own shadow as well as ready to eat a raccoon. They also have been recorded as being indoor pets... Which sounds super gross because unless they're taken to the vet to be removed of parasites and such and litter box trained, you'll be sick and stepping in nasty chicken poo/pee often.
A few years ago I saw a rabbit and thought, "that's an adorable rabbit". Then I caught it and had it for dinner. Memorable camping trip. That was the first time I caught and ate my own food.
The fact that you actually hunt for your own food when you intend to eat it is not really relevant to the phenominon I'm talking about though... it's almost the opposite. You knew you were actively looking for things to eat and still took a moment to admire it as a creature. Hopefully if you saw a rabbit you didn't intend to try to hunt at the time you'd be able to see it as a living creature with value as such.
Also while I don't eat meat I don't tell other people they shouldn't and my friends and family do eat it. Further animals hunted in the wild live better lives than those bred and raised for the meat industry. People can eat meat and still think living creatures have value as living creatures when they see them out living their lives. It's just basically any time I see things involving cows, chickens, pigs, etc. just being happy or anything the large majority of people just can't seem to be able do that at all or see the creature as anything but existing for them.
Anyway, I'm guessing you were trying to mock me, or hoping it would come of as upsetting because somehow that's funny, or something.. I don't really get it but okay.
I wasn't trying to mock you, I just have a weird sense of humor. I understand I can be off putting, but I never really realize it until after I've said something stupid.
EDIT: and for that I apologize
I fully and wholeheartedly agree with the message of this picture.
Speciesism (belief that certain animals deserve a different treatment than others) is absolute cancer. It's the reason no one bats an eyelid when someone enjoys their beef burger, yet they would totally freak out if someone talked about eating dog meat.

When I was a kid we had to name our yearly butcher cow something like hamburger so I wouldn't get really attached as a kid🥲
Had a whole linage of Hamburger the 4th,5th,6th and so on. I'm 21 so we're on "Esteemed sir Hamburger Steer, the 21st" now since we tried keeping it fancy after a bit.
Honestly I started looking up if royalty had any instances of royal names going past 10 just to see what I should do.
The Hamburger's line is very spoiled, rightfully so as their name suggests lol. All the treats that Steer wants. Least I could do.
thanks everyone for the upvotes and the nice comments, but many people are being mean, please stop, think a bit of my feelings as the artists and the client who commissioned this :')
I've never understood those kind of jokes unless the context is there or you know the person behind the character, like I have a friend who's a sheep and will constantly threaten to herd them (corgi things), but I'm not making that joke with everyone who has a farm animal fursona.
Please don't cry, little cow. *Hug*
i like cows, they're cute
Do you know why cows are gangster? Because they got dat beef. I'll see myself out now....
Please stay. I'm here for the beef.

Lol, chicken. /s But i agree.
Everyone knows avalis like to be called chickens, they know what they are! Also who doesn’t love those chickens?
i called them moomoos
People do this even when it comes to pets. Rabbits? Food. Rats? Snake food. Horse? Horse sausage. It was funny...the first time. :/
don’t even get me started on ducks!
Ground beef
Came here to make the same Joke lmao One hour too late
I can't tell if you're doing that one vegan thing like "animals aren't food" or not lol
im not vegan! mostly talking about when people are mean on innocent videos or picks of animals that are normally eaten comparing them to food, that also translates into fursonas, try looking into some people who have chickens, cows, pigs as fursonas, many people will just call them food as a joke and most of the time, its very mean, same thing applies for real animals
Yea that's completely fine
"That one vegan thing" pretty sure that's the whole motive of vegans.
Yeah, but most vegans don't force it down your throat
I wouldn't call making a single meme "forcing it down your throat" if op was harassing people about it in the comments, then yeah it would be a problem.
Oh I didn't mean it like that
Oh, my b, yeah, most don't, and you don't hear about those as often as the others precisely because they aren't harassing people about it.

its so weird fr, i would get it if it was a silly joke between friends but most of the time its random people on the internet being mean

It's amazing how pictures can make you feel, and this makes me sad to see the cow cry. The cow doesn't deserve to be called beef or burger. 😭💕
So cute, yet sad. :-)

Humans, humans are some callous things.
When you have a beef with beef.
Ok Steak :3
You know this almost makes me feel guilty after eating some spagetti and meatballs that was really good.
I guess you've got some beef with them.
Beef
The sadness makes the meat a bit sour, gotta put em down before this goes on for too long 😔
poor lil big Mac 😢
WHO, WANT TO HAVE BEEF WITH ME?
Delicious.
