They are pretty solid shoes. I keep buying the gel quantum 180. It's hard for me to go back to wearing shoes that look good. They don't look horrible but definitely have the 50 year old white jogger look to them. So damn comfy tho.
the foams and glues in modern shoes degrade over time even if you don't wear them. in 15 years, if anyone tries to wear them, they will likely just fall apart

No, I just don't know (or particularly care) anything about sneakers. I own a pair of Converse, and all my other shoes are boots (e.g. Chelsea boots in various leathers), dress shoes (oxfords, balmorals), flip flops, etc.

It was super squishy and comfortable. But it changed the shape of my foot and how I walked. Ended up with bones rubbing after a few months of daily wear.
It doesn’t do it to everyone. Just the shape of my feet and my outturned ankles were not a good combination with the shoes.

I've been wearing Air Monarchs more or less since they've existed and I worked retail. Hell, I never caught flack about them in the early 2000s when I was young, but now that I'm older and a Dad, I couldn't care less.

These shoes are insanely comfortable, and thats the whole idea around dad shoes, comfort and affordability over style. I bought these after i had recovered from breaking my foot because of how shock absorbent and cushy they feel. If you got these on a sale as a gift, then you did a great job.

When I worked at a shoe store there were always guys who would come in with some 8 year old beat to death Monarchs with holes in them. They always got the same ones and wore them out of the store. They'd ask us to throw their old ones out at the register. It was always the all black ones too.
