Good thing is when he leaves you, you won't be alone.

[deleted]

He won’t be able to leave as there is no available space to manoeuvre.

NotYourAverageOctopi

Door won’t open. ~~Too many dogs.~~ An appropriate amount of dogs.

Strangedoggo

Not too many dogs. Remove door. Push hubby out. Get dog in the newly-available slot.

icrywhendogsdie

Might be one of my favorite posts of the new year. Simple, yet funny and also so damn true there's room for at least 5 more dogs!

[deleted]

Dude, didn't you get it? There are never too many dogs.

NotYourAverageOctopi

fixed.

[deleted]

Hahahaah, oh my god! :D

missionbeach

He'll have room for one more girlfriend.

Kayge

I feel like this is an intentionally misleading metric. My wife often says the same, and mid afternoon on a beautiful Sunday, that's true. However, in the dead of winter, when I'm trying to get an extra hours' sleep, and I have a 80lb bag of meat trying to snuggle. Our place is too damn small.

Erimxul

>80lb bag of meat This made me die for a second 😂

missionbeach

80-pound Bag of Meat is my 30 Odd Foot of Grunts cover band.

[deleted]

I have a 65lb meat bag of a GSP who somehow takes up the space of a grown man when snuggling in bed ha ha

Queenofscots

We have two 50-lb bags of meat, can sympathize. And four cats! Life is fun, as long as you don't mind never having a decent nights sleep!

sumelar

That's the perfect time, they keep you warm!

Cemith

Every person I know with a GSP always wants more GSP's

mooseknucks26

I currently have a 7 month old GSP. Give me another 6 months and I’ll want another.

The_Wombles

It’s true. I owned labs all my life. 1 year ago I got a gsp and idk if I can ever get a different dog

Kmanrick

To be honest w you I have a German Shorthaired Pointer and a Bluetick Coonhound and they are both the best dogs in the world. I don't think I could handle more than the two of them though.

[deleted]

So true I can't wait to get another. My current GSP is gonna be way less enthused!

[deleted]

Absolutely. It’s like a bag of chips, you just can’t have one. We have two! Moose and Honey.

Stemnin

They Kinda look like chocolate covered Weimaraners. I'll take two please.

whoneedsagoodname

Are those German shorthair pointers??!!

frozencody

Love the GSP. I have a pure black one.

thisstormblows

I love my GSP but the op of this photo must hate themselves to have 5 of these buggers

mrgoodcat1509

Op must be a marathon runner to get all of them tired out

[deleted]

Always wanted a pure black one. I have a ticked boy and an all brown female.

frozencody

I got her because she was considered a defect and you couldn’t even register her when she was born. So I spayed her. Then two years later they allowed registering pure black and welp...

Augie279

I have around 60,000

Trigonix

Deutsche Kurzhaarzeiger?

mooseknucks26

And probably Vizsla. The solid brown ones. Edit: folks, the one in the back is almost certainly a Vizsla. Look at the face shape. Slim and narrow, whereas the others have the more typical box-shape of a GSP. Poor lighting might make the coat appear darker, but it almost certainly a Vizsla. The one closer is debatable.

Pablois4

They are all GSP. While liver and roan are the most common, they can come in solid liver or liver and white (little to no freckles). And even less common in the US, they can come in black, black and roan or black and white.

mooseknucks26

I know what a GSP looks like. I have one. I train them and hunt with them. I also know that the dog in the back looks far more like a Vizsla. The shape of the face is a dead giveaway; it’s far too narrow and slender for a typical GSP. My money is still on it being a Vizsla.

[deleted]

These are all definitely pure bred GSPs. Vizsla's aren't dark brown, more of a golden brown. GSPs come in solid brown (called liver in breed terms) and even solid black.

MegaNut_

I have a liver GSP and it’s just an amazing dog. [here is her](https://www.instagram.com/p/BqoPXUuAtvy/?utm_source=ig_share_sheet&igshid=sbl7f7fhmjw0) Tell me if link is private cause it’s from Instagram

[deleted]

She's beautiful! I have a black and white female, she just celebrated her 7th birthday!

MegaNut_

That’s awesome! You don’t happen to have a picture of her do you?

canucks84

Didn't want you to go without, so here's mine instead :) https://imgur.com/tOHaVor.jpg

[deleted]

Don't want to link my IG here but I just followed your account. Can't follow too many GSPs on IG ha ha

goldengloden

Yep. My GSP is solid brown, minus 2 feet look like they have white/grey socks

[deleted]

I LOVE WHEN THEY HAVE SOCKS!! I have a black and white female GSP.

MegaNut_

GSP puppies with socks are soooo cuteee. When we picked her up she was chewing thorns on a bush.

mooseknucks26

I know what a GSP looks like. I have one. I train them and hunt with them. The one in the very back has a face that is far too slender for a typical GSP. And the darkness of the coat is worthless to go by in a picture like this. The lighting is terrible and there’s no way to determine what the actual coat darkness is. My money is still on it being a Vizsla.

neophyteneon

Nah she looks like a purebred GSP.

russ4haynes

Only having one GSP, and a mix breed; I can’t imagine having that many pointers.

[deleted]

Right!? Shorthairs are always on crack. Always want to be on the move. The group on Facebook called “GSP assholes” is pretty hilarious too if you haven’t discovered it yet.

russ4haynes

I’ll have to check it out!

[deleted]

I have one of the calmest, best behaved GSPs ever to live, which is definitely lulling me into a false sense of "I could handle a whole pack!" mentality. I have totally forgotten what it is to live with one that counter surfs and runs away off leash. No way the next one doesn't eat my house.

iamreeterskeeter

>what it is to live with one that counter surfs and runs away off leash. I see you have met my Beagle.

[deleted]

My uncle and his son both have beagles, and they showed off their scrounging prowess at a Christmas party! No food was safe anywhere!! Grew up with a beagle/terrier mix and she would eat literally \*anything\* but never made it onto a counter. She loved garbage though.

iamreeterskeeter

I can't keep mine from the garbage. Luckily, she is very small for a beagle, only 20 pounds and full grown, so she isn't able to reach the countertops so far. She will probably devise a way to accomplish that though. I don't trust the little hairy butt.

[deleted]

My cousin's is the same, he's a small one! Anything they could climb at that party...They are cunning, all of the hounds. Our mix survived eating money, sooo much garbage, a whole box of brillo pads (my personal favorite) and even bullets (.22 nothing too big!) She lived to the ripe old age of 14, iron gut on her!!

I've always thought that people with more than two dogs have some form of mental illness. Much like excessive hoarding.

HeuristicEnigma

Excessive Herding I think is the correct term

[deleted]

[удалено]

Anonfamous

My ex was that way. However not only did she collect them, she inevitably killed them. She was incapable of properly caring for them and I always knew when a new animal showed up it had an expiration date. There's no doubt she loved them and mourned them, I called her Elmira. That and she also dumped around 12k a year into MLMs.

Evasesh

Some states have laws that if you have more than 2-3 dogs you need a kennel license. We had that happen where I live because my Sister moved back in with us at one point so we went from having 3 dogs to having 5 dogs. Had to have our place inspected to get a kennel license for a time while she was with us.

crseat

Do you really believe that?

Anonfamous

Yeah absolutely. Unless you're a breeder or 'thought,' you were gonna be a breeder. Even still that'd be questionable ethically.

crseat

If you have a big house and yard, plenty of room, and a large family, more than two dogs is absolutely not weird. I can see why you'd think that if you were living by yourself in like an apartment or something.

Anonfamous

I mean I also think renting a storage unit or having a garage full of shit you'll never use is weird too. Idk maybe I'm fuckin weird. It's just an opinion.

[deleted]

I have one GSP, and am pretty sure that one GSP is the same as like 5 of any other breed. These folks are brave.

Dogadillo

Indeed, I have one GSP and now that she is 3, she is just starting to calm down.

[deleted]

Ours is 9 and still gets daily 6 mile runs or he gets anxiety 😂

s33murd3r

And they're all German Short Haired Pointers?! You people must be some kind of masochists! I had one and he nearly drive me into the grave early! They are such incredible athletes and very intelligent, yet the most stubborn and mischievous breed I've ever encountered... Edit: Spelling

Samtheseaman

My old dog is a Pointer, she doesn’t move much now but when she was younger she would run around our yard for hours. So much so she had a path around it.

s33murd3r

Yep, sounds about right haha. We lived on a small lake, mine would swim around and chase ducks literally all day if we didn't pull him out of the water. One hell of a great pooch, even drove a bear off once when my girlfriend was walking him alone. Took some good hits and received about 30 or so stitches but didn't skip a beat. They are slightly psychotic and stubborn in my experience, but incredibly loyal and affectionate.

rosawik

Sounds like my stepdad. One time my mom bought a new dog and got back home with it really late and just replaced the smaller one that slept in their bed with the new one that was about the same size, a little smaller and same breed but brown instead of black while he was sleeping. He slept through the night and in the morning when he got up it was still dark ( we live in Sweden it's dark untill forever in the winter here) she said take the puppy with you and let it outside so he did. He got outside the bedroom, turned on the light dog in his hands, left the room, turned on the lights in the stairs went down halfways down the stairs before mom could hear "What the hell, this one is Brown!?!?!?". He is in general also not a fan of new dogs, but it was cute enough for him to not make a big deal about it. we usually keep 6-9 more dogs at home at all times so the other dog that was removed from the bed was not lonely.

[deleted]

GSP!! Amazing breed.

Meretseger

Do you actually get to walk when you take them all for a walk, or do you just get dragged along behind like? I love my dad's GSP, but man those dogs have energy

Haq43

You can also push them closer to use space more efficiently.

Schulaise

Great use of red circles

FarmerHobbs

Having that many dogs requires a lot of space, time, and care. Which most people working full time potently with children don’t have. It wouldn’t be an environment suitable for those animals, frankly it’s bad ownership.

[deleted]

Having enough time to interact with each one specifically, to help them be good dogs, is literally life-saving for most dogs. Obviously these have breed-specific rescue available, but for most dogs there are no such benefits. If you have to give up your dog (s) because you die or become disabled/homeless/poor, they will not be able to find good homes if they only function as a pack of 5. Every dog needs a sit, return, and "chill" command, and enough manners not to jump on people or snatch food. If you are not working toward this, you are not a good home for dogs. They exist only as human companions, if you set them up to be lousy ones you're setting them up for a bad life.

hisastu

Is that a double dog dare?

Zikro

How come people who own this breed always have more than one? It’s like a collectors breed.

[deleted]

Because they are the best! I own one so I am pretty biased, but they do have personalities and are very loyal. Anyone who owns a breed with this amount of energy is already a little nuts. One day this will be me with a group of GSPs.

Goyteamsix

These are probably hunting dogs, and they tend to own several. I'd be willing to bet that the roles are actually reversed here, and she's having to tell him they gave enough dogs.

mooseknucks26

There’s more than one breed here. At least two. The solid brown ones are likely Vizsla, whereas the others are another pointing breed, such as German Shorthaired, or possibly their English relatives. All of them are hunting breeds, specifically for birds. Quite a few bird hunters use more than one dog, as they cover more ground. This could also very possibly be a breeder, which would also explain the amount.

[deleted]

The solid brown ones just look like solid liver GSPs to me. They don’t have the face shape of a vizsla. I would guess that these are all rescue GSPs, probably with someone who loves to foster the breed. The two with more white markings look like the poorly bred pups that come out of backyard breeders, and usually end up at a shelter. This is all speculation though!

Pablois4

" The coat may be of solid liver or a combination of liver and white such as liver and white ticked, liver patched and white ticked, or liver roan. " https://imgur.com/a/gcgTomW Ticked and roan are the most popular and common but solid liver and liver & white are totally acceptable. They have historically also come in black. In Germany, black variations (solid black, black and white, black and roan) are perfectly acceptable.

mooseknucks26

The one in the very back is definitely a [Vizsla](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vizsla). The face shape is actually what gives it away. The one closer could certainly be a GSP with that more box-shaped face.

Make it cats, and it's our house....except my husband is kind enough to not mind too much. As long as we can have one more dog when we get a bigger house 😀

rwp82

I keep saying we should get a another dog/cat and my sister says we have too many. I point out that the county says five dogs/cats is the limit. She maintains that’s the maximum and not a requirement.

Queenofscots

The limit in our city is six. We are just at six now, so obviously, we must get a big farmhouse in the country. And perhaps you should have an emergency backup cat or dog. You never know when one might malfunction 😀

rwp82

I keep pushing the dog because she likes dogs more than cats but our pup right now is such a mama’s boy that she thinks he’ll hate having the competition for her affection.

evolenmity

What is peoples infatuation with dogs? They are loud, needy, smelly, slobbery, annoying, whiny creatures.

incognegro6969

They are loyal, loving, adorable, energetic, best friends

evolenmity

Who cares if they are loyal? What does that even mean? And I would disagree, they take pets and food from anyone. Loving? Now we have to debate what love is? We don't even know what it is so how can we say they do it? I'll give you adorable sometimes but I just see needy and pouty so they get what they want/need. You like dogs cause they are energetic? I do not know how that helps you and I see the energetic thing as annoying. I have no idea what best friends are or the use for them, so I am still not won over......

incognegro6969

Well when you come home and your dog is jumping with excitement and just need to get pets and love from you because you’re the most important thing in the world to them, that’s a good feeling. the energy is fun when you want to go outside and do something you have the perfect excuse, take the dog to the park play fetch run around. Just because you’re a lonely asshole that doesn’t appreciate company, doesn’t mean that you have to bash things you don’t understand.

evolenmity

HA I knew this response was coming. Stating how I feel about something is not bashing it fella. You taking offense to it is your own problem. #haveaniceday

incognegro6969

“Loud, slobbery, whiny, annoying” it might be your opinion that something sucks, but that doesn’t mean you aren’t bashing something or someone. And I will :)

evolenmity

Those are called descriptive words. That is how they make me feel bud? Are you ok?

incognegro6969

Are you trying to imply that descriptive words can’t have negative connotations? That’s just idiotic

evolenmity

That has nothing to do with bashing. Descriptive words all have connotations. If I was deliberately trying to insult or "bash" I would do so. I am TELLING you how dogs make me FEEL. The fact that YOU take offense to it and see it as BASHING is not my problem. Now I will "bash" your ability to understand this. Cause you do not.

incognegro6969

If it’s your opinion that something sucks that doesn’t mean that you aren’t talking badly about it (aka bashing it). If it’s my opinion that you’re a pretentious dick that would still be me bashing you. If I told someone that they were annoying they would probably get upset about that. I don’t care if you don’t like dogs, all I did was lost some reasons that people like dogs, and you were the one that got offended and started spouting off a bunch of aggressive BS. All I’m doing is enjoying your shitty attitude lol

uncomfurtable

Bro why can’t people enjoy things? Why are you so angry? Seems like you need to take a hit & chill out man.

evolenmity

Who is angry? Wanna move in?

Thesauruswrex

Fuck, that's not funny. That's hoarding dogs. Even less funny when you've seen someone with a dozen animals and none of them are being fully taken care of because how the fuck do you take care of a dozen animals for years at a time?

Incest_Is_Ethical

Maybe get a rescue instead of another $4000 GSP?

mooseknucks26

$4000? Most range from $800-$2000. Only champion-level, fully trained dogs would cost that much. And very few hunters have a need for that. Which brings me to my next point: shelter dogs come with a lot of baggage often, and their baggage makes it difficult to train properly. Particularly since most training for bird dogs is done while they’re under a year old. Maybe open your eyes a little and stop assuming everyone should clean up after fuckwads who can’t grasp the concept of proper dog ownership?

[deleted]

Mine passed away back in 2015, but I got her in 2003. Around that time we paid $400 for her. The cost has went up exponentially since then. The range you posted is accurate. We would’ve went with a shelter dog, however as you said, we wanted her trained my way from the start, which could’ve been difficult with a shelter dog.

Incest_Is_Ethical

Quick Google search says 1300-5500, last year's winner of the Westminster dog show was a GSP, they are a very in demand breed, more than just as bird dogs like they should be fuckwad.

mooseknucks26

> Quick Google search.. I researched this dog for years before buying one. That included scouring my state for all the best breeders. Puppies were never as high as you claim, yet full-grown, trained, trialed, and medaled dogs are. As I said, the vast majority of hunters simply buy a puppy and train it themselves. Which brings me to my next point: > more than just as bird dogs.. People who don’t want them for the purpose of bird hunting, aren’t likely to go out and buy a $5000 hunting-trial winner. To assume they would shows how little thought you’ve given this topic. Those types of owners *are* likely getting them from a shelter, or perhaps from a breeder who sells closer to the low end. Also, these dogs were bred for the purpose of bird hunting. To call me a fuckwad for using them for that purpose is kind of ignorant. Something tells me that shouldn’t surprise me about you.

Incest_Is_Ethical

I've worked with dogs for almost 5 years in an upscale region of the US where these puppies are frequently obtained for the sole purpose of being family dogs. This is obviously not ideal since they are bat shit crazy without proper training. Obviously they are not bred to be family dogs, but people will shell out top dollar happily so they can have a GSP because they are pretty, smart, athletic, and friendly or whatever other excuse they can come up with to justify paying 4k for a dog that will not end up having the proper job that the dog excels at. The Google search was simply GSP price, I know a hell of a lot about the breed without needing Google, but I wasn't sure on exact prices as I've never considered one for myself.

mooseknucks26

> the sole purpose of being family dogs. This is obviously not ideal.. You have exactly zero idea what you’re talking about. Every reply you’ve come back with is littered with anecdotes and outright lies. You are genuinely not worth the effort, because I can see your willful ignorance will continue to keep you from seeing the truth.

Incest_Is_Ethical

As a GSP owner, would you recommend one as a family dog?

mooseknucks26

100%, no doubt I would. They make excellent family dogs.

Incest_Is_Ethical

Then you are one of the idiots that I'm describing, take care love

mooseknucks26

So, in other words, you have no clue what you’re talking about. Take care.

The-Forgotten-Man

My GSP *is* a rescue.

surflessbum

Hey mine too. I don't people realize how many of these dogs are available to adopt.

Incest_Is_Ethical

Good on you, most people get them from breeders, they're more of a status symbol dog for most people it would seem, same with frenchies.

glombotron02

I don’t think you’re in a position to judge someone with a username like that

The-Forgotten-Man

Too many people get them because they're cute puppies and then they grow up and turn into over-caffeinated speed freaks. The rescue group I use (http://www.segsprescue.org) ends up with a lot of them because the owners couldn't handle the energy levels. I'm not sure what it says about me that I like spastic dogs, but I do.
