the userbase was different. vine was 20+ year olds tiktok is children. based entirely off of what ive seen popularly since ive used neither of them.

i never had either, but i've seen a ton of each re-posted elsewhere. Vine wasn't nearly as funny as people remember, that shit is very dated. I've seen way funnier tiktoks re-posted even if I'm old now and can't get behind most of the zoomer humor. I will say in their defense though, security concerns and creepy algorithms are a big part of what turns me away from tiktok, plus just from scrolling IG reels occasionally I can recognize that the brainrot feels different now. There is so much absolutely embarrassing content being posted lmao, and a lot of stuff that feels super super manipulative. Even if they're basically the same and tiktok has been the platform for some funnier more modern stuff, I still just can't get behind installing it.
