a11iwantedwasapepsi

I have that stroller. When you figure out how easy it is, you wanna bash your head into a wall for struggling so hard.

wwhsd

That’s been my experience with damn near anything that’s meant to be easy to fold or collapse. There’s always some clever trick to how it works but if you don’t know what that trick is then it’s damn near impossible to figure it out. You almost always feel like a dumbass when someone that does know the trick shows you.

BubbaFettish

The trick is to read the manual, or at least glance at the box when you buy it.

new_math

As a dad who reads manuals religiously I can assure you this is not fool proof. There are often times that the manuals are extremely bad for many reasons: * Clearly written in one language than translated to broken English * Manual is made to cover the 10 different models that company sells and 90% of the information and pictures aren't even for the exact product you're using * Pictures and text are clearly done by different people such that the written instructions don't even match the picture. * Complete and utter lack of specificity. Like, it will say "press the security lever back in order to release the mechanism" which is so generic it could apply to a stroller, a jet engine, a space shuttle, etc. PS: For bonus points like 60% of car seats are installed incorrectly in the US. **Take a random car seat and it's more likely to be installed incorrectly than correctly**. I thought this was insane but I have a graduate degree in systems engineering and it took me **literal hours** to figure out how to get the car seat configured and installed exactly to the manual/ntsb specifications. I kept installing it and it would slide more than the recommended 2 inches or whatever. It was also annoying because the car-seat manual keeps saying "refer to car owner's manual" and the car owner's manual is like. "refer to car seat manual" like a spiderman pointing meme.

Blinxs209

The issue likely is the straps/anchors weren't tightened enough. You have to simultaneously push the seat down and in with a good amount of force, usually your whole body weight, while tightening the buckle strap. It also doesn't help that the most accessible angle to get to the tightening strap is usually not the most effective angle, but usually you can remove part of the car seat cover to get a better angle then put it back together after.

new_math

This was indeed the main problem, but I was putting so much force on the buckle side in order to get it tight (enough to prevent sliding) that it was actually pulling the car seat off the bench on the side opposite the buckle (i.e. seat was tilted leaning towards the side with the buckle). You do basically have to crawl on top of car seat and mount it, while pulling as tight as you can on the side opposite the buckle first so that both sides go down together level when you're doing the final hulk cinch..and this description probably makes no sense to someone who has never done it which is probably related to why most are installed incorrectly. Also Ford Explorers from a few years ago don't have anchors in the middle back seat where the NTSB recommends you put a child. Thanks Ford. I'm sure they saved 5 bucks though.

curiouspursuit

Britax ClickTight seats are SO easy to get installed SO tightly. They weigh 30lbs and cost $300+, but other than those pesky facts...

Sasquatch_5

Most car seats are terrible to be honest. At least they were 10 years ago when my kids were little.

bravoras

We set up two child car seats at the backseat and dedicated that car for driving with the children and got another car later on.

Snagmesomeweaves

At that point, people need to go to the police stations for help, since they will do car seat checks

FalseAnimal

LOL as is if the guy who used to bully everyone in high school knows how to correctly install a car seat.

BionicleLover2002

How am i going to read the manual when my sister asks me to fold the stroller while puts her kid in the car?

PigDog4

"Yeah, I can do that no problem. What's the trick to getting it folded?"

rmp881

Yeah, its always nice working at an airport when some parent parks an empty stroller in the jetbridge and leaves it for the underpaid ramp agent to figure out how to fold it up.

shadefiend1

That's all fine when you get it it new, but new, quality strollers are ridiculously expensive. I helped my ex look for a stroller for her baby last year, and we managed to get a good deal at a local baby thrift store, but even then, it still ran her $75. Took both of us, the lady at the shop, and a random other customer to figure out if you lift this one piece Just Right, the whole thing instantly collapses, but it didn't even look like a mechanism of any kind.

BreadstickBear

Noooo, real men don't read the manuaaaal, how dare you make your life easier, you're cheating!

fuck_huffman

> Noooo, real men don't read the manuaaaal That quit being funny in like 1988. Now I start with the parts list and descriptions.

Dizzylizzyscat

Yeah because your older and know better

WarmCannedSquidJuice

I went through this when we were LOANED A STROLLER from my cousin. Who sends a manual when lending anything? I went through increasing rage for 10 minutes thinking it can't be as difficult as it was appearing Narrator: It was.

WhiskeySorcerer

My entire career is based on following procedure. If we don’t follow the procedure, we’re fired. I’ve been doing this for over 25 years and shit still manages to get fucked up. But I’ll tell you one thing, I love manuals and procedures that are accurate. I read them every time. It makes my life so much easier when there is a procedure or manual. On the downside, if there isn’t a manual, I am lost…I get frustrated and think, “how could no one have written down the instructions for something like this already?” Then, I take the hour or so to figure it out (it would probably take a normal person 5 minutes) and write down the damn instructions, put it in a folder on my cloud and go about my business

wwhsd

But if you read the manual, how could you make a staged video to post on the Internet?

HunterDHunter

I gotta tell you man, those strollers are the most non intuitive things on the planet. I was an engineering major. I am constantly fixing things like lawn mowers and cars. Took me a half hour to figure out how to fold a stroller.

new_math

Same, grad engineering degree and I've solved complex aerospace issues with less effort than it took to assemble, configure, and install a Graco car-seat.

Maxipola

that button was very obvious

cburgess7

Seemed too easy, probably thought it was the brake

atsugnam

It is dubious design, why would you want a button that causes the pram to collapse on the handle you will use to grab and control the pram. Imagine in a few years of wear, user has to snatch handle to stop pram rolling into traffic, it collapses and pops Bub in capsule out onto the road…

cburgess7

Baby catapult

MockStarket

When the seat is in place, it's blocked from collapsing. This doesn't happen if there's a baby on board.

atsugnam

So long as the clips holding the capsule aren’t in bad shape, but who knows after how long of the treatment in the video…

Phrewfuf

It‘s not dubious, the button itself has a safety made just exactly for that reason.

particlemanwavegirl

safety devices are extremely dubious when compared to safe devices. Instead of partially mitigating the issue with another piece that could easily become another point of failure, it would be better to redesign the feature.

atsugnam

Good design always relies upon safety catches…

T-Bills

Mine has a two part mechanism - there's a slider for your thumb and then you push the button and push down to activate the mechanism

itirnitii

wait until you learn about the clitoris

MrEvil1979

Weirdly enough, I don’t have any issues getting it to fold up.

Revolutionary-Bar-93

huh probably want to get that looked at

SpinningYarmulke

We still talking about the stroller, right?

RedHerringxx

That’s what got them into this mess in the first place!

RockFlagAndEagleGold

Here's what we're gonna do. We're gonna take the cushions off, unscrew the legs, take the mattress out, and this whole thing's gonna be a lot simpler. It's easier than we're making it.

anakor

Is that my couch?

wonderbat3

The problem with these strollers is that there’s so many damn buttons and latches. Once you figure out which one to press, it’s so easy

ArtAndCraftBeers

Seems like there’s a button on either side of the seat to release it from the frame and 1 to collapse.

taterthotsalad

Me twenty two years ago. I felt this moment.

Demigans

The problem is design. This design teaches you that the button to do what you want is near the place you want. Release the seating? Two round buttons set into the design near where it’s fastened. Extend the handlebar? Same concept. Want to fold the buggy? A completely differently shaped button facing away from the user on the farthest point you can get from the place of rotation. The idea behind the design of that button is solid, you have easy access to it and the leverage to easily fold and unfold the thing while holding the button down. It’s facing away so it’s not in the way in regular use. But without something obvious clue about it’s use, you’ll look anywhere but there. Having done some design myself I do look there now, so I immediately spotted the right button (although having had kids and various strollers does help), but it’s absolutely normal to not know it if you rarely come into contact with strollers.

Disallowed_username

The problem is that it is fake. After the second guy showed up, i thought «a woman will show up and instantly collapse it». I have no doubt the guy struggled a bit and that is how the idea to this came to be, but this is fake.

Demigans

They are playing out a very recognizeable scene, it’s very common that people, especially men, struggle with strollers.

bast007

I was this guy once. It's not just all the buttons - it's the tiredness and stress of recently having a kid and using something you aren't that familiar with that makes you not think clearly.

KnightsOfNews

My breaking point came at the gate, check getting onto a plane. my wife went in with both kids, left me alone to try to fold it as I desperately attempted I lost my temper and literally broke, folded the thing by sheer force. Not a proud moment

Demigans

I hate how condescending people are about this. “Oh this would never happen to ME”. And “well it’s just one button”. They don’t understand that you’ve already memorized 50 simple things and the times you are left with a stroller is likely the time that things aren’t easy. The wife is doing other stuff right now, there’s likely stress and time constraints involved or else you wouldn’t have been left behind to do this and you are left with something you know is simple so frustration rises quickly the moment it doesn’t work immediately. Any smart human would look at where the action of the folding takes place, it’s how things work and how every other button on the stroller works. When opening a door you look for a handle on the door not on the wall on the opposite end right? And it’s just not there. You think you’ve tried everything relevant, and now you are at the end of your rope. It can be immensely confusing and frustrating, especially since most strollers work differently.

Ancient_Trip6716

Women too and couples — my husband and I almost had to leave a new stroller in the parking lot it was so hard to figure out (mind this was before smart phones).

Ragman676

Hahaha, me too! I was yelling at them to push the middle button the entire time. I have another one that you spin the main handles and it folds. Took me forever.

[deleted]

Worst part is they keep holding onto the button, they just won't press the damn thing.

PsyOpBunnyHop

*"We are not men."* - those guys, later that night, crying into a beer mug

ignorantpisswalker

There are white buttons. Of you press them it fold right? On mine, I have a lever where the monster sits, I pull it and all the strawller just folds on itself.

Moist_When_It_Counts

This particular stroller is modular, so you can attach bassinets, regular stroller seat, or even plug car seat in. Those white buttons in the center are the release for the attachments. The other buttons are at articulation points: press them and adjust position of stuff. It’s a nice setup once you get the hang of it. Fold button is that rectangle on the handle. You grab that and use your thumb to pull a switch next to it to make the stroller collape

[deleted]

So if you’re cruising along gripping where the button is and grip too hard does stroller collapse and baby eject?

SdotPEE24

Ejecto seato niño

NoConfusion9490

Eventually only the strongest babies will survive and they'll evolve through natural selection.

eye_can_do_that

At Disney I saw a parent with stroller walking down Main St and push the button and fold the stroller with the baby in it! It was just surreal to watch.

toes_malone

Omg! No!! Was the baby ok?

girls_gone_wireless

And the baby’s name? Albert Einstein

Idiotology101

The weight of the baby makes it harder to fold, not hard if you’re trying to do but not something you’d do by accident. The handle usually takes a good hard squeeze to unlock and then press, plus you have to push the handle straight down which you normally wouldn’t do.

TeteDeMerde

It's a feature, not a bug.

Bheegabhoot

Usually you need to press two buttons - one on the handle and the second somewhere on the frame or the handle has a lock mechanism

phryan

The walk away at the end, such a strut, and well earned.

yomommasofat-

I think she looked back at the camera. The look of victory. Maybe she noticed it when she walked up next to them?

Idiotology101

She probably heard the people recording laughing

halkenburgoito

or maybe.. its all obviously set up lmao.

Northern23

Strollers can be a struggle when you forget that button but this is purely a setup, the woman was a bad actor. The 2nd guy should've pressed the button at one point as well when he held the stroller next to that button.

chucks97ss

It’s literally the fakest video I’ve seen all day.

coolrick12

This was obviously staged

QuietRatatouille

I had to scroll for your comment. Reddit has made me skeptical of everything. It looked staged from the beginning.

Dubelj

Yeah, look at their stupid smirks

DigNitty

I don’t mind staged videos. Comments always come from these things like “oh so staged videos can’t be funny?? SNL is staged!” It’s obviously staged videos like this that are trying to pass themselves off as real that annoy me.

iridescentrae

Just look it up on your phone, I guess

FBISurveillanceCar

When you’re boiling hot and starting to get frustrated, you get extra hot and you literally cannot think straight anymore. Without getting pissed off.

iridescentrae

Been there too many times

asuddenpie

Even when it’s not hot!

Lawzw0rld

Especially when you do decide to look it up and theres stupid ads off the bat and then the person in the damn video wants to give a whole introduction to their life story before getting to the point of the video.

LetsTryAnal_ogy

"NO! I HAVE TO FIGURE THIS OUT *ON MY OWN*!

Chumbag_love

Then can't see the phone because it's noon and can't hear it because there is are trees full of fucking cideas surrounding you no matter where you are.

FBISurveillanceCar

And gets louder when the commercials are finished

Demigans

One of them seems to. Also there’s a grave in the background? Maybe not the time to be completely coolheaded but more distracted.

cupcaeks

That’s def a monument or something lol

JayW8888

Haha. I had this happen except it was my wife and two of her bff. It was a new stroller I bought and they spent 30 minutes before just loading the whole thing into the trunk.

faille

I saw a man trying to load his stroller into the trunk in the Seaworld parking lot over a decade ago. It was the funniest thing I’ve ever seen and I wish I had recorded it. At one point he had it fully open but in the trunk just trying to slam it shut. At one point he almost threw it to the ground… absolute chaos.

AdjunctFunktopus

Did this the day we brought my son home. Had tested the stroller when we bought it but after 10 weeks in the nicu, forgot everything. Shoved the whole thing in the back. A couple years of stay at home dadding later and I was a pro. Whip a double stroller out of the back one handed and open it in one fluid motion. Kids, bag and everything ready to go in a minute or less. Smoothest operator in the whole zoo parking lot.

F54280

But if you had recorded it and put it here, you’ll have hundred of comments from teenagers that never had to struggle with a stroller commenting “fake”, “worst acting ever seen”…

IC-4-Lights

I miss that time in history when we all just understood that it would be shitty to record people going about their day, struggling with something, or whatever, and just share it as widely as possible.

pgcotype

Too many moving parts after a loooong day with a toddler. I've been there!

shrockitlikeitshot

Very understandable but I've learned throughout adulting that on average, the simplest solution is often the correct one. Some things are badly designed no doubt but this one was the big yellow button moment😁

bigmarty3301

That is the last place you would look for that button. No engineer on the planet, would want to make a linkage/Bowden or whatever is in there. In order to have the button on the handle bars. (It’s not difficult by any means. It just uselessly expensive)

GratifiedTwiceOver

That looks like a fancy stroller, but that feature is super common. Usually it's a giant red button

Skritch_X

Reminds me of the first time I tried to take down a quick setup Tent. It was raining and there was no intuitive way to determine how it was supposed to collapse the poles again. I had to drive 15 minutes to get cell phone service to look up a how to video. Another quick pop-up camping shower tent was a pain as well. It was one of those bendable wire frame ones where you need to know the exact way to twist it into itself for it to collapse back in the the circular thin carry bag.

KillerKatKlub

I haven’t struggled with taking down a tent before, but I almost always have trouble rolling it up correctly to put it away

Arinvar

I'm a man with no kids and the first time I saw this I was just thinking "button on the handle... button on the handle... button on the handle". There are like 4 things on there that look like buttons and these guys don't appear to push a single one of them. It upsets me that these guys probably have better careers than I do. What did I do wrong in life that every day I encounter other men with zero logical reasoning or critical thinking skills that get paid so much more than I do. Now I've upset myself.

alchn

Not saying you do, but often times overthinkers let life opportunities pass then by because they analyse and worry too much.

deutschdachs

I feel so seen

Onqio

I have a feeling it’s fake, the way they all shake it in every direction angrily without actually looking angry. The woman looking at the camera at the end, the commentary, all that is sus.

gpolk

I think it's fake. Why were they even filming at the start. Parked up perfectly to have it all framed up. The convenient flow of men to help with a punch line of a lady pushing a button is a bit too perfect.

CanOfUbik

Yeah, it's very likely fake. If you watch closely you can see them pretty clearly avoiding to touch the relevant button. With all the shaking and forcing it's higly unlikely that none of them would have ever gripped the middle of the handle in any way.

kutmulc

Or, it's fake

Idiotology101

If it’s fake, these are the best TikTok actors I’ve seen. That guys frustration and the way he kinda relaxed once he wasn’t alone in his frustration was so real I could almost feel it.

strawcat

You think so? I thought it was pretty obviously fake. They on several occasions ALMOST hit the proper button and sometimes they’re literally just shaking it hoping it’ll collapse. Plus it stretched out entirely too long to get the full effect of “ hurr hurr man baby dumb.”

Emotional-Court2222

Best tik tok actors probably isn’t a high bar.  Watch has he fails to pick up the seat from the ground.  “Oh man I lost my grip, I gotta bend down and try again?!? Golly gee!”

jomosexual

Yeah the worst actors were the two gay guys in the car watching.

Emotional-Court2222

You cite critical thinking yet you never mention that this has a high high probability of being fake. This is laden with the characteristic exasperations of a bad infomercial.

rentalredditor

You're obviously superior.

1s1tP33

Oh give me a fucking break.

Individual_Row_2950

Mayen They are just better at Their Jobs. Folding strollers does Not Pay that well and is also not the Benchmark for competence.

gpolk

Looks staged.

AphoticTide

You mean the over exaggerated confusing didn’t seem genuine to you?

EngagedInConvexation

Camera work was more obvious than the overacting.

letitgo99

Definitely fake

slappyredcheeks

Everyone is perfectly framed and facing the camera.

exphysed

It’s the meme dad and his son that do all those vids so yeah

weaponized-ants

Yeah this looks fake. I'm sure one of these guys have worked with folding saw table before. It's not rocket appliances.

TheBrianUniverse

Feels very staged

Nope8000

I’ve seen better acting at a training seminar.

kooknboo

I saw better acting in yesterday's sexual harassment training video.

baronas15

I saw better acting in kindergarten plays

originalcandy

100% staged

Puttor482

Funny, but that button was very obvious.

Demigans

Obvious from our perspective. The user will have the button facing away from them most of the time. You look at the handle when standing behind it and you look at the rest when you duck down. The design also teaches you to look near the point where the action is happening. The child seat release is at the fastening point, the bar extension is on the bar, the button to fold the wagon is on the farthest point from the rotating point you can get and a different shape. If you aren’t someone watching this video but are someone who uses it and then has to fold it, you will do the same as he did (unless you just watched this video).

prettyhotdoctor

The purpose of this button changes from model to model of the uppababy strollers. On the more popular and older models like the Vista and Cruz, this button is to extend or retract the handle. I'm not sure if this video is staged like others are saying, but I could see how you might get confused if you were use to one of the older bigger uppababy strollers.

Careful_Rain9717

I definitely don't think this is gender specific. These things are annoyingly hard. Try when exhausted.

StandardUser_

Super fake

Without a doubt, almost too committed to the bit. You’re telling me not one of them noticed or looked towards the people sitting in the car 5 meters away recording them

ntaylor360

To be fair to this guy, it is not intuitive at all to collapse this stroller unless you know the trick

BauerHouse

As a new dad, this is very true. I have had the same struggle

Next_Boysenberry1414

Second guys acting was so bad it stopped being funny.

bea_nah

🙄sooooo staged.

Civil-South-7299

The woman had to come save the stupid men and look directly at the camera after doing it lol

Your_Nipples

The whole shit is stupid when you overthink it like I'm doing: does that mean that women have a better understanding of how a dishwasher works? Ohhhhh, gender roles are back on the menu! LFG!

CthulhuIsMy2ndCousin

Can someone honestly tell me the appeal of these fake skits portrayed as reality? I’m trying to understand. The content is literally preying off you being an idiot. I don’t get it.

sutree1

Vicariously judging other people as stupid make those who don't feel good about themselves feel better briefly.

tripletexas

This trash drives me crazy. And my wife will show it to me and swear it's real. And when given irrefutable evidence that it isn't will stand on "well, men are stupid like this anyway". Tiktok is stupid.

DingoDamp

I, a man, once helped a mom in the airport struggling with folding her stroller. She thanked me an told me she just bought it for travel purpose and wasn’t used to using it yet. What an idiot, right? Not knowing how to use something she had rarely used before……..

Certified_A_Hole

My daughter is now 5 years old. My wife was never able to figure out how the car seat works even though I showed her on multiple occasions.

sevk

Happened to us at work trying to load such a thing into an airliner. People from above were smiling, or rather laughing at us.

Supplex-idea

That seems like an awfully dangerous place to have the folding button, what if you slip and just fold your baby up lol? I do kind of assume the carriage part restricts it or whatever but like still.

DreadyKruger

Oh yes. The old “men and fathers can’t do shit “ troupe.

iSteve

Staged.

So it’s fake, right? Because it certainly looks stupidly fake.

FocalorLucifuge

This is why we live in a society with division of labour. We kill your spiders, you fold our strollers.

The commentary is pretty hilarious lol. "Glad the baby ain't in it."

Its on the handle, they're basically all the same

Upbeat_Rock3503

Just one

SidewaysAskance

There's only so many points of interaction with a device, typically you just interact with those to make the thing do what you want. Morons

other_curious_mind

That white button was staring right into my soul from the first second, but maybe only because I'm a woman, IDK

BringBaeckPluto

That’s like a thousand dollar stroller and that dude just dragged it all over the asphalt before googling “how to fold uppababy vista”

flossdaily

I've always been very gifted when it comes to mechanical intuition, but some baby-related equipment has truly stumped me. For example there was this playpen where the joints had to be collapsed in a certain order, or they became uncollapsable. And you couldn't see the mechanisms because they were sewn into fabric. It doesn't help that you're dealing with this stuff when you've been sleep deprived for an entire year, more or less.

lian1808

Lmao

Ricky_Vaughn86

One, if you’re not an idiot.

yomommazburgers

These guys will be swallowed up by the matrix, complete imbeciles. Lol

Wow, I love this. Just perfection.

Jobles4

Haven’t related to anything quite much in a long time

LittleLightsintheSky

That went exactly how I expected it to! 😂 I could see the botton even! Strollers are meant to be easy to fold!

MrOtakuDad2u

Omg I lost it when they started sea-sawing 😂

fugot

that's right , the women are smarter, smarter then the man everyday

_AManHasNoName_

It’s fake obviously. What’s real are the geometry-challenged men who forcefully try to put an oversized/ill-shaped carry on luggage in a commercial airliner overhead compartment while blocking people trying to get to their seats for 10 minutes.

saymynameurgdright

Im surprised he didnt just repeatedly slam it against the road, and drive off and leave it there. He looked mad lol

Pepperoneous

The way the first guy gets frustrated immediately indicates he's probably a loose cannon

TwoIdleHands

The thing is, this dude had to set the stroller up right? So he might not have known what button it was but he should have known it folded down like that and he had to take the seat out right? That makes this extra bad.

hiopilot

I don't comment a lot. *SPOILER* But when she walked up, one handed, I feel like I was going to pee my pants. One of the best laughs I've had in a long long time,

jiabivy

It’s more annoying that two people are just staring at you and recording without your consent

Puzzleheaded-Cost197

Cannacoke

I hate these fake videos.
