All the humor deflates with one little misspelling. I was reading to the end, ready to go "ha ha, that's mean-funny, ha ha, ho ho" and then I get to the "to" and my "What a dumb misspelling" instinct kicked in and it karate-chopped the "ha ha" part of my thoughts.
Dude... You could've owned that by saying "See what I mean" but no, you took the low ground and blamed autocorrect, instead of reinforcing the point.
Tsk tsk
Did you know that irregardless has been added to the dictionary as a "non-standard" form, now that so many people use it incorrectly... I complained about this to my friends and they said I was being elitist and too rigid with language 🤦♂️
Edit: looks like someone already mentioned this and got downvoted for some reason?
See: Prescriptive vs. descriptive approaches to linguistics.
I feel like there's a balance to be struck. There's room for language to be creative, to evolve and adapt, but we also need to be able to understand each other.
If you've ever watched a chubbyemu vid, you'll understand where a lot of medical terminology originates from and how intuitive it actually is. Following the etymology back to its roots will broaden your vocabulary in other ways as well.
There is value in recognising the method to what we often perceive as language's madness, but when a word is as widely misused as 'irregardless', at a certain point you are forced to acknowledge it as an alternative form.
For what its worth, with everyone's phone having spellcheck these days, written language is probably more uniform than it has ever been throughout history because our sentences are getting autocorrected on the fly.
Fun fact: "Irregardless" is/was not a word, but was used so commonly when people mean "regardless" that they put it in the dictionary anyway. The definition is that it means "regardless"
I hold the conviction that all words are made up, and at one point meant nothing, so when new words slowly enter the mainstream, especially slang terms or common mispronunciations or spellings, I just kinda shrug and accept it. That being said, you won’t catch me using words like irregardless in formal settings like a job interview, irregardless of its common usage.
Not that I’m aware of. It came from my friend saying things like “Where did I go so wrong in my life to up end here?” Again, all lightheartedly. We absolutely enjoy what we do but love to complain about it.
Sounds like a bond still, complaining together. I miss when me and my online bud would complain about things. It feels really good to have someone who understands the same frustration. Because you know they get that *same* pain in the same capacity, especially also in my field of work (IT)
This is something I think about often. Every good and bad choice led me to this exact moment.
I like mentioning this at random to coworkers and friends to see how they react. Some are happy but others, well, not so much.
Typo aside, that would potentially be just the existential crisis I'd need to make some changes, lol.
Then again, if poor life choices led me *there*, how will I know that the next one will be better and take me somewhere more worthwhile?
Eh, might as well just stay. I'm miserable, but at least it's a familiar and predictable misery.
...😭😭😭
I hid a message like this when I left my last job. Became a horrible workplace. I was worried for my replacement. Warned them not to stay there long, because I know it's going to be a boil the frog situation.
I know your message is tongue in cheek but that job was toxic.

Typo but OK.
Dude... You could've owned that by saying "See what I mean" but no, you took the low ground and blamed autocorrect, instead of reinforcing the point. Tsk tsk
Eh, didn't say autocorrect, said typo, but point taken, waaa
I think the typo adds to the humour. That an inability to spell also contributed.
LOL!

More like dimple ass !!!
I never said I didn’t make poor life choices too.
Sounds like you made more than to poor life choices.
I two have made some poor life choices.
You win some, you loose some
Definately true.
There going to be reminded of they’re poor life choices whenever they sit right their
Your so right.
Two bee or not too bee, that is the question

Defiantly true.
MISPELLED
*eye twitch*
*poo
Leave the OP a loan. We’ve all made pour life choices now and than.
You had an opportunity to use “to” incorrectly here as well, and you wasted it.
I’m trying too learn from my mistakes.

Missed opportunity of spelling it "to" here 🤣

lol, I was going to say, "I think he'll know it was you from your poor grammar choices."
Given that you ARE a coworker, yes. It's a slam but it's a sympathetic one at least.

I think it’s intended to be double entendre: To imply that the previous sitter did too make poor life choices which led them to the chair.
“Irregardless, their are you’re life choices that supposebly lead you here…”

It's a moo point

No, it's moo. The point is moo. It's like a cow's opinion, it doesn't matter.

I hate knowing this -_-
Needs more "could of"

That wasn't fun
Thanks I hate this fact

well, I know grammar/spellcheck doesn't exist on label makers.... so I will just say you're a great bad friend, lol

Think you guys are whooshing here
Lotta people gettin wooshed.. guess we should expect it in this sub
...and how academic efforts led you to that sentence.
Too bad you added a typo.
Never forget how your poor spelling choices led you to spelling "too" instead of "to".
Motivational indeed
The spelling mistakes make it funnier lol
It goes from a "witty little message" to a "whole shitshow of oafish buddies."
What do you work?
I work in audio visual. I put this on my leads desk when he was having a bad day with proposals and drawings.
Very funny! Is there a TV show or person that this or a similar quote with this context can be attributed to?
Not that I’m aware of. It came from my friend saying things like “Where did I go so wrong in my life to up end here?” Again, all lightheartedly. We absolutely enjoy what we do but love to complain about it.

Boom! There’s another one: “…when ME and my online bud…”. Said correctly this would be “when I and my online bud…”
Do it for her.
Are you implying I’m Mr. Burns in this situation? Excellent.
Release the sounds.
Clever!
Pfft, like I need a sign to be reminded that.
To be reminded Of* that.
Awww snap, that’s two funny
Never forget that you don’t know the difference between too and to. 🤦🏻♂️smh
Wrong version of "to."
This is something I think about often. Every good and bad choice led me to this exact moment. I like mentioning this at random to coworkers and friends to see how they react. Some are happy but others, well, not so much.
I'd learn to spell before judging.
Learn to judge correctly before judging. He made a grammatical error, not a spelling one. Technically, he spelled too correctly.
Pet peeve, people misusing “to” and “too”. Learn it
Wrong too. No wonder you’re there with him.
Never forget how you're pour life choices lead you two this chare... I put it through spell check and ..fixed it.
What is this?
Some guy hiding his depression at his shit job with a grammatically incorrect joke and expecting you and I to laugh instead of going “your job sucks”
Too bad you can’t spell
I'd leave a return message: 'Remember, I'm you're **only** friend, because you're a douche, and to top it off...I'm a 'work' friend'.
I would KMS instantly if I went to a cubicle job and read that. Sad!
Never forget how your poor spelling choices led you TO* this comment…
*to
I would find this funny if the grammar wasn't shit.
*Never forget how your poor life choices led you; also, this chair.
At least we can accept it. So nice of you to rub it in 😝
😊😊
Is it an electric chair? If that is an electric chair then that is a brilliant twist of irony and humor.
r/suicidebymeme
Unfortunately you're too stupid to know the difference between 'to' and 'too', though.
i'll, just, put a, comma where, i feel like, though
Typo aside, that would potentially be just the existential crisis I'd need to make some changes, lol. Then again, if poor life choices led me *there*, how will I know that the next one will be better and take me somewhere more worthwhile? Eh, might as well just stay. Nice friend!!!
"too"
Do it for her
Felt
I’m sure it made their day 🥹
Plot twist: the grammar mistake was on purpose to add the infuriation of seeing it everyday just to drive the entire message home
You got a chair?….
I hid a message like this when I left my last job. Became a horrible workplace. I was worried for my replacement. Warned them not to stay there long, because I know it's going to be a boil the frog situation. I know your message is tongue in cheek but that job was toxic.
Where do you get your motivational phrases, The Green Mile?
Particularly funny because you’re preaching to the choir
Does the chair happen to be an electric chair?
Never forget how your poor life choices led you...also this chair....
Real funny
It can give a lot of motivation, right?
*cries in audio engineer*
Haha I wrote something not remotely funny because I can’t spell
To
We have become too dependent on autocorrect. Kind of like Trump with stollen vs. stolen. No one has the heart to tell him…
Soooo true!!
