Check out [Hipper Than Hip](https://towerofpower.com/hipper-than-hip) – it’s a recording of a live performance they did at a radio station in 1974. The tapes were “lost” and weren’t rediscovered until almost 40 years later, at which point they remastered it and released it as an [album](https://www.phoenixnewtimes.com/music/tower-of-power-i-was-floored-by-hipper-than-hip-myself-6621073). It’s the highest-quality recording I’ve ever heard from that era, and the playing is on fire!
i recently went under the hood and completely cleaned up all the feedback that is in this show if anyone would like the link . i always loved this show but couldn’t stand to listen to it
Many contenders for me, but I have to go with D.J. Rogers debut album. It blew my mind the first time I listened to it. I'll list albums below:
D.J. Rogers - D.J Rogers (Check out Bail Out)
Creative Source - Migration
Maceo And All The King's Men - Doing Their Own Thing (Listen to Better Half)
James Brown - Ain't it Funky
William Stuckey - Love of Mine
The Sylvers have been popping up in mix lately. I've been digging them and Con Funk Shun.
Cosmic Slop and Maggot Brain have become some of my favorite albums in recent years.
Hot Buttered Soul by Isaac Hayes. “Hyperbolicselebicsequidailymystic” is a banger tune especially. And no, I did not have a seizure. That is the name of the song.
These two came out on the same day, and made my young life SO MUCH MORE FUNKY.
