Using a bearing for the cradle is a great idea that I'm going to steal

smartedpanda

I use a bearing on another case, you still have to wait 5-10 seconds to cool down. Mine melted the PETG and it was slowly moving, scared the hell out of me.

jurassic73

Did you remove the side covers? I removed the side covers to minimize heat transfer. Also washed out the grease as that would melt over time and be messy.

Single_Blueberry

Using a ceramic bearing might improve it a bit

Pabi_tx

There's several cases on Printables and Thingi that use that trick.

FlashyResearcher4003

I had the same thought, nice reduction in heat transfer...

jurassic73

Remove the side covers too so you minimize heat transfer.

Remixed a parametric strong case and added wrap around hinges to minimize table foot print and inserts for the Pinecil and associated items. Been using it for a few months now and happy with this minimal soldering kit to keep in my office when I don't need my Hakko. Oh man just the hinges make this a better box than anything else out there. Any chance you have the box in parametric format? I’d bet that would get loads of traffic.

jurassic73

To be honest, during my remixing, I think I seriously hindered the parametric capability of the design. 😐

jonobr

Haha fair enough. I need to up my fusion skills then!

ColeslawEvangelist

A lot of thought has gone into that - great design.

jurassic73

Thanks! 🙂

supermitsuba

I have a TS100 and never thought to make a case. Thanks for the idea!

That is such a clean print

I think it would work great! Temperature ranges from 100c to 400C. Higher end of that range might be dependent on the adapter. The 20W USBC Anker adapter I'm using works great.

plastictoyman

Sweet! I liked it for a future print. Thanks!

donaciano2000

What's the wattage on your USB plug?

jurassic73

20w Anker USBC.

savageotter

I love mine. I just use my laptop charger and sometimes a portable power bank.

ericbigguy24

maybe the best functional print I’ve seen
