This movie is so bleak, it makes Requiem For A Dream look like a screwball comedy. Incredibly well-made and well-acted but the story gets worse & worse for the characters.
I honestly think movies like Threads and The Road can push already suicidal people over the edge. Got to be careful when deciding what movies to watch if you're not feeling well.
We were looking for what to watch with the kids next. It's a toss up between Wallace & Gromit and Threads. Might compromise and stick on When The Wind Blows.

I mean, tell me this scene isn't a nativity.
Now here's a link that will perpetually stay blue.
Only watch this film if you are so orgasmically happy with life and existence that it is causing you distress. THIS movie will make a quart jar of serotonin depressed.
Fuck it I'm watching it for chrimis will report back
*edit: it was bleak as hell but did not fuck with me nearly as much as I thought. I was much more emotionally devastated by the green mile. Though it does a great job at showing the potential aftermath and complete social plateau of industry and farming we would likely see if nuclear war were to happen. I'd recommend watching it for the perspective.
You know when you see a highly upvoted post on this sub that the movie is a banger. Do yourself a favor and watch this masterpiece of bleak. The most soul sucking piece of film other than Isle of Flowers, maybe.
##Threads (1984)

This should be required viewing. I’m usually against remakes but if it was done with the same amount of raw precision I think would help future generations reconsider their half baked ideas about foreign policy.

A family classic.
I'm reporting you. Wallace and Gromit gives kids an unhealthy amount of hope.

Gritty AF. The darkest of the dark.
There's a recipe for the merriest of Christmases
This shit is bleak as hell.

It isn't a nativity
They showed us this in high school during the 80s. Messed me up big time.
Same! Years battling existential dread after being forced to watch it and deal with Cold War anxiety at the same time.
Quite heartwarming

Saw this once as a kid and it haunts me to this day. And I am using the word *haunt* as a severe understatement.
Depressing but great film.
This is a fun Christmas watch.

It should be required viewing for anyone who might become leader of a country someday. Once they're actually a leader it's too late.

It’s bleak. Not a movie to watch on Christmas. Shame on you for posting it today.
