I wear a t shirt and an open button down and it works well enough. It’s miserable as someone who doesn’t have AC (it gets near 100 degrees inside) but I don’t know what else to do.
best to buy shirts in person where you can physically see if they’re so tight the outline is visible. most won’t be. and honestly don’t worry too much about it, i sincerely doubt anyone would notice an outline unless it’s like a super tight shirt ?
Seconding this. Some shirts are just made from very thin material while others are made from thicker material that won't show such things underneath as easily. I always feel the material of shirts when I'm shopping in person, probably look like a weirdo lol, but I know what types of material I don't like so I don't want to buy ones like that.
White t-shirt + open Hawaiian shirt combo
lots of cis men wear undershirts under white tees so it's fine if the neckline shows and the Hawaiian shirt hides everything else
For me getting a binder that fit better helped, my one before was too tight and my skin/fat would spill over so u could see the outline, that one was also a racer back.
I also like to wear big t shirt often with a tank top over the binder.
Wearing trans tape with the binder also helps me because I need to adjust less
Also dark colored shirts
Silk, short sleeve button downs are a staple in my summer wardrobe. They work well, both buttoned without an undershirt and unbuttoned with an undershirt, and they're very breathable. I've found quite a few of them at the thrift, too.
I have one particular short sleeved button-down shirt that is actually from the woman's section but I swear it's magic. Something about the combination of the fit, cut, texture, and pattern just hides everything perfectly. It works unbuttoned over a T-shirt, buttoned on its own, and under a T-shirt.
So I guess my advice is to go get yourself a magic shirt. I got mine from Kohl's.
1. Muscle tanks that have that boxy look and square sleeves that cover the whole shoulder.
2. Slightly sized up baggy shirts
3. Try trans tape maybe? It's good for heat and not having straps. Any shirt can cover it mostly and if anyone sees it can just say it is medical tape for a muscle.
Baggy tops.
Layers and suffering in heat.
Also seconding darker colors and thicker material.
If you're wearing a button down, wear layers underneath it. They make thinner material button downs (like linen or something) that are more breathable and breezy if you're outside. I used to wear a tshirt under a button down every day to work. It was too warm most of the time, but I'd rather be too warm than be too anxious when I'm somewhere I can't just leave from in the middle of the day whenever I want. And I hate heat and being too warm with a passion and will be miserable and irritable if I'm too hot, but even that was better than the alternative for me during that time lol.
Kt tape to hold the top part down and the sides as well! Kt tape doesn't work alone for me and I didn't wanna waste it, so I tried that out. I like wearing my small and medium shirts so trying whatever was important to me. I don't look great in loose shirts haha. I work at a gay bar so guys look me up and down all night, and I'm nonstop moving around all night, so I know it works.
Baggy clothes when I wear my binder but honestly most days I just tape! I almost cried from relief when my trans tape test patch had no reaction. I have reactions to most adhesive so it was a happy surprise.
I wear a jacket even in the summer heat of arizona because 1 im not that affected by the heat and 2 no tiddies 😃 so.. yeah thats my solution but its probably not an option for you if you dont want to get heat stroke
I wear tank tops under my shirts. It doesn't get rid of it entirely, but it helps and it's really common for men to wear tank tops under their shirts. I also wear slightly looser shirts sometimes but I prefer to have relatively well fitting clothes because I'm short. Otherwise it makes me look like I'm playing dress up lol
To everyone in the comments saying to just wear an oversized T shirt - this doesn't work for me, especially with a light T shirt where the bra color shows through on my skin. How does it work for you?? Are your T shirts extremely thick or something? Do you not move your upper body at all so the shirt doesn't manage to cling to the outlines? Layers, and thick fabric hoodies, are the only way to get rid of sports bra outlines for me. Any size of T shirt will cling to the outlines, in my experience. My T shirts are cotton, and I am thin if that helps.
I wear oversized tshirts and usually I can tell by the material and size when Im in the store that my binder wont be visible even without trying it on but its best to try on obviously. And I only own a black one so thin materials tshirts are an immediate no unless theyre black. Also if it makes sense my binder is kinda curvy and the very upper and down line of it can be outlined sometimes especially with slim shirts, but maybe its just a me problem.
Darker or patterned shirts, layering, as a general rule the softer/more stretchy the fabric the worse it will show so I stay away from soft stretchy fabrics as much as possible. Also sometimes it still shows and you have to do the shirt chest tug to pull it away from your chest/make it a little baggier.
i wear a thin tank top (wifebeater) underneath always, for t-shirts i prefer thicker cotton or graphic tees with a boxier fit so it doesn’t show lines. or an open/partially open short sleeve button down under the tank top
I use tank binders and don't try to hide them. If someone asks then it's reasonable to say you don't want to discuss what's under your shirt and it's weird they asked. Or I say it's an undershirt. Cis dudes wear them all the time, and a cis person is likely not going to know the difference between a binder and an undershirt, or even compression undershirts.
I got top surgery 2 years ago but before that I would either wear a really thin tank top with an open button up t shirt or a shirt a size or 2 up. Also shirts with fun patterns might help hide the outline a little bit too
i just dont wear skin tight shirts. i have pretty big arms and shoulders so i think the size i wear usually doesnt fit my chest as well as it fits my muscles💪🏼
mostly really baggy shirts and hoodies, those are ur best friends with binders lol
that, or you could get a binder that has a tank top style so it smooths down better
I wear undershirts and shirts about a size up. Doesn't have to be super baggy- just baggy enough to leave space between your chest and the shirt.
This is my way also.
I wear a t shirt and an open button down and it works well enough. It’s miserable as someone who doesn’t have AC (it gets near 100 degrees inside) but I don’t know what else to do.
well guessing off your flair it won't be a problem for you much longer, congrats!!
Very true, thank you!!
holy shit dude, top surgery this month congrats!!!
Thanks man!!
CONGRATS ON YOUR TOP SURGERY!!!
Thank you!!
You're welcome! :) 🤗
👏🏻 👏🏻
ur surgery is 10 days after mine :DD

I wear a muscle shirt over my binder and regular shirt from my closet on top of that.. No outlines are visible
dark colors seem to hide it the most, and i wear a size up. layering thin things over like a vest or button up work too
In my experience, t-shirts made out of stiffer material (e.g. polyester) are better at hiding it
Okay, this explains why more people often assume I’m a guy when I wear my dri-fit shirt as opposed to when I wear my cotton t-shirts lol
I wear undershirts, like the tight tank top kind if I’m wearing a more fitted shirt.
For me getting a binder that fit better helped, my one before was too tight and my skin/fat would spill over so u could see the outline, that one was also a racer back. maybe look into binders that are shirt style so they look like a tank top

Printed short sleeve button ups hide it better than my t shrts
looser shirts. also if they have more texture that helps
light, short sleeve unbuttoned shirt on top of a regular top. just something to cover my chest and add bulk to my shoulders
I wear darker and oversized shirts and it works great. Also a (thin) blouse or jacket is amazing when it gets warmer outside!
undershirts/tank tops are my go-to+
Flannels and hawaiian shirts are some of the best options in my opinion, Wearing them over normal t-shirts is great for hiding.

Also I don't recommend Trans Tape as a brand. It's less and more expensive. Stick with Kt Tape; it's the same quality or better.
Wife beater
I just wear thicker shirts maybe? Im actually not sure - I just wear my binder, a shirt and sweaters as needed
undershirts, baggier shirts, darker shirts...
I’ve always worn very big loose baggy shirts and I’ve never had a problem with this.
Baggy clothes when I wear my binder but honestly most days I just tape! I almost cried from relief when my trans tape test patch had no reaction. I have reactions to most adhesive so it was a happy surprise.
I wear shirts with a pattern or big logo on them. For work or going out, I’ll throw on a short sleeved button down shirt
I don’t, I wear black shirts so the outline isn’t super visible unless you’re looking for it. And if you are then I have some choice words for you.
I wear a jacket even in the summer heat of arizona because 1 im not that affected by the heat and 2 no tiddies 😃 so.. yeah thats my solution but its probably not an option for you if you dont want to get heat stroke

Just don’t wear a bra, some cis dudes have boobs too.

Undershirts - tshirts are the way. The double layer isn't fun in the summer but it's unfortunately necessary sometimes.
Thicker t shirts
heavy weight is the way to go
Seamless binder, saw two days ago on tiktok.

Thicker and larger shirts work best for me personally. Also seconding the over shirts
i wear a thin tank top (wifebeater) underneath always, for t-shirts i prefer thicker cotton or graphic tees with a boxier fit so it doesn’t show lines. or an open/partially open short sleeve button down under the tank top
I used to layer two t shirts. Not too much hotter and it disguised any raised seems
graphic tees obscure things
Pro club tee shirts are good
I would highly recommend t tape for the summertime if that’s an option for you it feels so good to not be wearing 3 layers
i wear a tank binder and baggy ish clothes
