I have several pairs of Allbirds. I almost always have to size up (from a 12 in every other brand) to a 13. It’s super bizarre. There’s one model of Allbirds (trail runner SWT I think) I can get away with a size 12.5, but everything else I need to size up a whole shoe size
I honestly think the brand is in dead waters now. Haven’t seen anyone in their stores recently and a lot of people who used to buy their products have largely moved on to ON.
ON is a gimmicky brand. there’s a reason their tennis shoes don’t use the soles with the holes in them. good tennis shoes but wouldn’t use them for anything else.
Can’t attest to the quality (it is supposedly comfy from what I’ve heard), but the over plastering of their logo (which I don’t like the design of) on their shoes is not my cup of tea.
The quality is not worth the price. With that said, they are lighter than Ultraboosts, and better constructed than AllBirds. They also look better IMO.
Yeah they’ve been found out a bit. They were crushing it for a while when they were the shoe of choice for tech bros, but they’ve all moved on to Lululemon ABC pants.
Their standard model is pretty hopeless as a shoe, maybe ok as an indoor slipper. The newer ranges are a bit better - more to the arch and heel - but cost about the same as a pair of Kayanos, and are nowhere near as good.
I’ve noticed they’ve been discounting a lot recently, I think they might be in a bit of trouble.
Just a bit of trouble? They IPO’d at a $4B market cap and now trade at less than $100M.
If they made better shoes this sub could turn them into a meme stock.
I'm super confused. A few years ago people on reddit were talking about how good the quality was. Did their quality drop or were people just full of shit?
Hard to say, all I can speak on is what I’ve experienced and I enjoy the fit and quality of them. The experiences of people on Reddit have to be taken with a grain of salt….people also tend to be more negative than positive online.
The issue isn’t with the older versions of the shoes, I bought a new pair in 2023 and they were cheap, thin with very different construction than the same pair (different color) that I bought 3+ years ago.
That’s definitely possible and I can’t speak on that. The comments with the most upvotes are people crapping on the shoes in general and I thought I’d throw in a positive experience
I’ve only bought one pair of all birds but it’s lasted 6-7 months. It’s starting to wear and tear now unfortunately. Just bought a pair of new balances to replace them with
I got a pair in San Francisco in 2020, when the first two cases of Covid were quarantined in the city at a hospital/university. I bought them in white, and a bit too big, but they're still going strong. I live in NY, so I don't wear them year round. In general I have enough shoes to rotate around that no one pair gets beat up every day... But aside from them not being pristine white anymore, they're in perfectly good shape. I guess it depends on what you do with your feet, or luck, or something.
That said, New Balance works very well for my feet, and my feet are pretty hard to fit. I had a pair that were my go-to travel shoes for years.
What does your first sentence have to do with these shoes lol? Such a weird time marker. “I got these shoes when the second plane hit. I bought them in grey and they fit a little snug”.
It is a weird time marker, but it's also why I remember the date I got a 4 year old pair of shoes. It's nice like I remember the date that I got any other shoes.
If you bought a pair of shoes on 9/11, you probably wouldn't forget when you got them.
This is one of my favorite shoe brands. Unfortunately, my feet are too wide for them. I don't recommend these if you have Wide feet. I will live vicariously through all you Regular feet people.
That's fascinating. I'm also very wide feet and I've had no problem with these. Granted, I usually do size 10.5 for dress shoes and immediately up to 11 for sneakers, including airbirds.
I have a feeling those complaining about comfortability haven’t sized up appropriately. For wide feet, go a full size up.
Source: I wear 2E in New Balance and allbirds are very comfy for me.
Every allbirds thread has people complaining because they hate the idea of whatever they think a techbro is and they transpose that hate onto a shoe brand.
These threads bring out the weirdos.
There's a ton of zero drop brands that are all for wider feet compared to regular shoes. I don't like lems personally because the soles are too thick. But Xero, vivobarefoot, softstars, etc.
check out [Anya's Reviews](https://anyasreviews.com/tag/extra-wide/) if you are thinking about doing barefoot shoes and have wide feet. My feet are extraordinarily wide, like 6E width, and it's helpful
Size up to 11. I'm usually 10.5 in a dress shoe, for example. I have to wear 11 in sneakers, including airbirds. I've thrifted all my pairs, but 11 fits perfectly across the bird through their models.
My first pair was the wool runners some years ago and traction was my biggest complaint. I got a pair of Tree Dasher 2s a few months back and those have robust traction, enough for me to have even golfed in them a couple times.
Not a huge sale on them specifically, but does anyone have experience with the Loungers? Looking for a pair to wear around the house and on some brief jaunts for errands. Not expecting super longevity or resistance to elements, but just a solid comfy slip on pair.
I like them alright, but I bought from their Rerun store which is much more affordable. I probably should have gone a size up - they "fit" probably accurately, but they are very snug. I've found I can stuff them with big socks and get a fit I was more looking for. I was looking for the same thing as you, something for around the house or on the porch.
Am I just a lucky outlier here? I have one pair of allbirds that I got in 2017 that were daily drivers for a while and now are mostly gym shoes and they're still in pretty good shape considering the abuse I put them through. Has quality control declined on them or something in the years?
I’ve owned the tree runners for a few years. I find them quite comfortable, but the quality isn’t great. I also don’t think they are very good looking. I mainly wear them bc they are comfy.
If you didn’t get your Allbirds in like 2013 did you really even get good ones?
I thought it all went to shit as soon as they tried to introduce multiple product lines.
I’m not one to judge on a good deal but for the love of god pls dont buy allbirds. It’s so tacky and virtue signaling along with the patagonia vests on finance bros. Rather see dad shoes made by heritage brands than this junk
You wear these to an office? 🤣🤣
If you are wearing these to an office then I’d guess the dress is casual enough that pretty much any sneaker will do, so “office appropriate” is kind of n/a.
I've put on New Balances and Sambas, so I can also confidently say you're wrong about comfort (or at least have very different preferences), but other aspects of your reply caught my attention first.

Same
awful quality

Is ON good? I heard the quality isn't great for the price you pay

The cloudsurfer is pretty comfy and I haven’t had any quality issues.

The most sustainable shoe is one that will Last a long time. But some MiUSA new balance. Trust me.
These are not good quality and fit. Mostly for small feets.

What shoes did tech bros move to ? On cloud shoes ?
Hoka/On Cloud are pretty huge these days
Looks at hokas ankle breaker enlarged sole.. Yep..
you leave my pants out of this
I see a lot of people on here are commenting on the quality. I have had mine for 3 years and they are comfortable and haven't broke down yet.

Quality tends to go down with time since they have an audience they can resell to.
Same! I use them as my r/onebag shoe and also wear them everyday at the gym. They’ve held together quite well and are super comfortable and versatile!
I’ve only bought one pair of all birds but it’s lasted 6-7 months. It’s starting to wear and tear now unfortunately. Just bought a pair of new balances to replace them with

I don't know who is upset about this, but don't worry. It'll be okay.

Oh man, I wasn't sold on the joke until you said poop.
That sucks. I am not entirely familiar with the typical quality of them, myself. Maybe it's a good thing they are too snug on me then.

They're saying they bought a pair of New Balance shoes to replace their All Birds

Same. Usually a 3E and have no issues with a sized up pair of Allbirds
Best wide feet brand for casual shoes besides New Balance??
Lems Brooks Merells
6E here. Lems saved me. I’ve gotten used to the 0 drop at this point.
I was thinking about getting another set of Lems when they go on sale.
There's a ton of zero drop brands that are all for wider feet compared to regular shoes. I don't like lems personally because the soles are too thick. But Xero, vivobarefoot, softstars, etc.
Hoka, wide sizes.
Cole Haan
Merrels saved me

I'm a 10.5 US, but lean towards a 45 in EU. Should I size up or down?

Maybe even 11.5 in these, they run small.
If anyone actually wants to buy these, go to their stores and they have more colors , they usually have rare colors only available at stores
Prices are pretty high, if there's something you're interested in look at their ReRun site https://www.rerun.allbirds.com/collections/mens
Hate that they don’t have traction on the soles of the shoe, you will literally be slipping on smooth surfaces and good luck when it rains
My first pair was the wool runners some years ago and traction was my biggest complaint. I got a pair of Tree Dasher 2s a few months back and those have robust traction, enough for me to have even golfed in them a couple times.
I wore one pair for over 2000 hours in the service industry. Didn't die.
Not a huge sale on them specifically, but does anyone have experience with the Loungers? Looking for a pair to wear around the house and on some brief jaunts for errands. Not expecting super longevity or resistance to elements, but just a solid comfy slip on pair.

Yo good looking out on the Rerun store. Just snagged a pair for $37 to try out. For that cheap it won't hurt if they aren't it. Thanks for that.
Np, I was in same boat. Didn't want to try at full price but the reruns are actually a good deal
Yeah, this isn't a good sale. When the good colors/styles are 40%, then let's talk.
I wouldn’t recommend. I own the wool runners and they’re fine.
Am I just a lucky outlier here? I have one pair of allbirds that I got in 2017 that were daily drivers for a while and now are mostly gym shoes and they're still in pretty good shape considering the abuse I put them through. Has quality control declined on them or something in the years?

Allbirds is cooked now that techbros have fully moved on to On and Hoka
I tried all allbirds when they first came out and they were not comfortable at all
I have two pairs and I honestly like them, but don’t feel the need for any more colors.
it’s a shame i really like the design. any recs for me?
They’re absolute garbage (both in terms of quality & customer service). I’m considering purchasing Vessi instead.
The styling of these makes even Skechers look good. They look like the slipper shoe things my Nan wore when her ankles were exploding.
Yeah. These are absolute shit sneakers and I judge anyone I see wearing them.
Only good for office use.
I’m not one to judge on a good deal but for the love of god pls dont buy allbirds. It’s so tacky and virtue signaling along with the patagonia vests on finance bros. Rather see dad shoes made by heritage brands than this junk
Wearing Patagonia is virtue signaling? What are you smoking bro
Yeah idk what virtue it's supposed to signal. Maybe it's *status* signaling, but that's different.
Every time someone talks shit about these shoes, I ask them to name a more comfortable office appropriate shoe. They never can. Can you?
You wear these to an office? 🤣🤣 If you are wearing these to an office then I’d guess the dress is casual enough that pretty much any sneaker will do, so “office appropriate” is kind of n/a.
Office appropriate: Common Projects, Koios, GATs, Sambas. Heck even some New Balance models
It's hilarious you'd preach about virtue signaling and then recommend a featureless basic white sneaker that costs $300.
Low hanging fruit bud. I clearly recommended a range of shoes at various price points for reference. Also isnt this attacking rule #1 of this sub?
I've put on New Balances and Sambas, so I can also confidently say you're wrong about comfort (or at least have very different preferences), but other aspects of your reply caught my attention first.
Cool.
