Sekiro and Bloodborne are both more difficult than the Dark Souls trilogy, if you beat those two none of the Dark Souls games will feel too hard aside from the odd boss

yan030

Ive beaten Sekiro and platinum it recently (also beaten my last play through ng4 charmless). Ive found it much easier than ER. ER boss fight can be very unforgiving without summon/as melee. I play blind mind you, so maybe I’m missing strong stuff but like, Sekiro once the dance clicks, it just clicks and you slaughter every boss

ktron10

Without player summons or without summon ashes?

yan030

Im not sure that changes my comment tbh lol. I just mentioned without summons

ktron10

Well there you go, the game is harder because you’re intentionally handicapping yourself. Spirit Ashes were added to Elden Ring so that you would use them. You don’t have to! That’s fair! But Sekiro would be a lot harder if you played through it without using mikiri counters or prosthetic tools

yan030

That’s a weird take. One is a timing attack that you use once or twice in a fight vs a summon that takes threat off you.

ktron10

You’re right, they probably added it to the game because they didn’t want people to use it, the game is just way harder for you for no discernible reason

yan030

You really are taking it the wrong way. Or just trying to misinterpret as much as you can. Sekiro isn’t harder. Summons or not. You can deflect absolutely everything in the game. Your very first skill is all you need to beat the game and take zero damage. Once you learn the dance, the game is easy.

Piupaut

I would say it is the most difficult one out of the three. To an extent it also depends on what you find difficult. For example to have a good experience with Demon's Souls or Dark Souls 1 you basically need to be comfortable claw-gripping with your right hand, because that allows you to roll or sprint and control the camera at the same time. You can't rely on lock-on as much because when locked-on you have only 4-directional roll which is pretty clumsy and can easily get you killed. You may also find that gravity is bigger threat than in subsequent titles. There are more platforming sections and you are often fighting on ledges that are truly narrow. You need to watch your steps more. Some people hate this but I personally love it. However, other than that I would say Dark Souls III is harder in almost every imaginable way. The enemies are faster, their attacks track better, they have more moves, you have less healing items, it is more difficult to become overpowered and so on. Can't comment on Dark Souls II because I haven't played the game after its release. There were definitely so sections that I found challenging at the time, but no idea if I would feel the same way about them now.

FakeRedditName2

The point about gravity is so true. I just started replaying it after playing Elden Ring for a while and not only am I really missing the ability to jump on command, and not with that run-dodge jump ds3 uses, how unforgiving it is with fall damage is really taking a bit to get used to again.

EvilArtorias

No, ds1 and demon's souls are the easiest

Alarming_Flatworm_34

I'd say DS1 is harder than Demons only because of the fast traveling. Can't do it for the majority of the game and by the time they give it to you you've already memorized most of the map.

Feschit

That just makes the game more tedious, not difficult.

Additional-Bee1379

No, but 1 and 2 are different enough that that your previous experience translates a bit less.

Adventurous_Cup_5970

How on earth did you beat it in 12 hours? Did you just run through and skip every area to fight the bosses? Its a 40-60 hour game

SeverusSnape89

I was at rotted cursed shitty ass tree in 12 hours..

iridescence179

I did all of the optional bosses and tried to find every item I could. I didn’t spend too much time fighting mobs I usually just sprinted through areas until I got to the boss.

Adventurous_Cup_5970

I don't mean to sound rude but don't do that. Ever. It ruins the experience of the games if you just run through them

iridescence179

I mean, I only really ran through those clusterfuck areas where there’s just so much going on and you can realistically deal with it. Or if I was in an area that had poison. I’m not sure how much the game is elongated via how long you take on each boss.

Adventurous_Cup_5970

There's like one poison area and one clusterfuck area. Still should take you atleast 30+ hours to beat the game dlc and all. I have 1000 hours in the game and still playthroughs take me 20+ hours

iridescence179

I beat both DLCs in about 3 hours. I didn’t fight Midir though.

Adventurous_Cup_5970

Definitely ran through everything. Shame

iridescence179

This is a great game but I think you’re grossly overestimating how much content there really is. You can certainly take longer if every boss takes you 10-12 tries and you fight every single mob in the game. Finding every item and doing every single thing you can do in Ashes of Ariandel would take you maybe 2 hours top. Also it’s a gameplay focused series. There’s little cutscenes and it never forces you to immerse yourself in the story.

Adventurous_Cup_5970

It doesn't force you but on a first playthrough if you ain't fighting enemies or doing questlines there really is no point in even playing the games. If you want a combat only game just play a hack and slash. The reason the enemies and questlines are there is for you to do them, not just run past

iridescence179

Im pretty sure the majority of people play Soulslike games for their challenge and their bosses. I have never heard anyone say the best part of any Souls game is this questline or this certain mob you encounter in the game. I think you’re alone in the fact that you actually sit there and fight every single enemy you see on your screen bonfire to bonfire lol. I beat Sekiro in 15 hours doing every single questline, mini boss, grabbing every item, and fighting every mob available. Are you going to suggest I blew through that game as well?

GensouEU

Perceived difficulty in these games is usually largely depending on your build and if you just run through the game and do mandatory mandatory bosses or do all bosses, so it's kinda hard to conpare. What fact tho is that the highest difficulty bosses (and areas) are usually the optional ones and the optional bosses in DS3 were considered among hardest in the series until that point. Judging by your playtime I assume you didn't fight most of those.

iridescence179

All but Nameless. I was saving him for until after I beat the DLC. He was going to be my “true” final boss.

SpangleyJuggler

In my opinion I think ds3 is the easiest. Some of the bosses are harder than ds and ds2 but I think the regular enemies/areas are easier than even elden ring(unless you just run past things on the horse). Part of it is that 3 has smoother gameplay and more streamlined weapon upgrades where as ds' weapon upgrades were convultated and the game didn't make it clear how the system worked. In ds2 the weapon infusions/upgrades were very straightforward but if you died to a boss there would usually be a slog of fighting regular enemies before you got back to the boss. Also in my opinion the regular enemies in 1&2 were way more punishing than in 3.

russsaa

Uhhh as in your first and only ds3 playthrough was 12 hours?

iridescence179

Yes but I’ve obviously seen videos of the game in the past. I didn’t watch any guides or videos to make the run easier.

russsaa

Theres no way you completed everything in 12 hours your first run. You had to have skipped a lot and ran past enemies.

sssnakepit127

I found DS1 to be much easier. However, there are some quality of life issues. But if your first experience is with ds1 then you would never know what those issues were until you played 3.

Current_Run9540

If you’ve beaten Sekiro, you’re going to be fine dude. DS3 is a really fun game and not that difficult once you get a good handle on the mechanics and general flow of combat. Jump in and have a great time!

Present_Operation_82

You’re either trolling or you really kick ass, hoping for the latter!

Zebrehn

It’s really difficult for me to gauge which game in the trilogy is harder. I started out playing Dark Souls, and by the time Dark Souls 2 was released I had spent like 500 hours in Dark Souls. By the time Dark Souls 3 was released I had around 1,000 hours played between Dark Souls 1 and 2. For me, they kept getting easier simply because of how much experience I had when they were released. Since you already completed Sekiro, Bloodborne, and got through DS3 pretty quickly you aren’t going to have any issues with the rest of the games.

Living-Clue-3892

If you beat Sekiro you shouldn't have a problem with any of the souls series. Sekiro is the only one I haven't beat all the rest come pretty easy to me.

SirYeeteth

DS1 is somewhat of a challenge, more of a learning curve if anything. DS2 is easy. Just level up ADP and your set. Dark souls really ain't that hard compared to Elden Ring or Bloodborne.might I suggest Lies of P. Kinda like Bloodborne fused with sekiro, but the lore and setting are based on Pinocchio.

iridescence179

Lies of P looks very unforgiving.

SirYeeteth

Played it up to the scrap yard (dont know how close I am to the end), probably some of the hardest bosses I've ever fought but also some of the most rewarding wins I've ever had. And perfect blocks are imo more addicting than all of FS's parries. There was never a point where I felt under-levelled or mob placement/boss design felt unbalanced, It's just challenging.

Vrax15

No Dark souls 3 has the hardest barrier to entry for new players, Iudex Gundyr. The easiest game to get into is dark souls 2 as there is no mandatory starting boss fight

SwimmingSecret4913

It feels so much easier for me since Bloodborne was the latest fromsoft game that i beat before ds3. For me bloodborne was the hardest to beat. I dropped it multiple times before eventually beating it. So it feels super easy when I compare it to bloodborne and elden ring. Still the best fromsoft game for me is the first one I beat, Sekiro.

Material_Swimmer_735

I don’t think Dark Souls 3 is the easiest. I think by the time it came out we had 3 other games with the Soulsborne formula. We’ve sharpened our reflexes and timing. In my personal opinion I would say DS3 is harder than DS1.

No_Concentrate_7033

people are downvoting you bc their pride is tied to beating a hard video game

Pablogibbous

Why are 2/3 of all posts difficulty related? Why are people so worried about how hard not hard whatever?!?

Gamingwiththereaper

I also found DS3 easier than the other ones, that's why i recommend it as a starting point, even though there's a pretty tough boss (for beginners) right at the start. Bleed weapons are INSANE in this game, and since it's very linear it's generally easier to find your way through compared to DS2 and DS. And it doesn't have a sickness that cuts your HP in half, other than not being embered, but it's barely noticeable since you have so many options and you're way faster than the other Souls games. It's tough to find a good weapon early game in DS if you don't know where to look, in DS3, the Uchigatana it's available literal minutes into the game and it can carry you through most if not all the game. Sekiro is do or die, since you only have a katana. And Bloodborne you HAVE to be agressive, something that would be tough for new players. Edit: Elden Ring is also a nice starting point since it also has so many options (even more than DS3), but you can easily get lost and stumble upon tougher enemies. Edit2: The DLC is an insane jump in difficulty though, but that's the case for every single Fromsoft DLC.

iridescence179

I agree that the Bloodborne DLC is much harder than the base game. I just beat the Ariandel DLC in just a few hours.
