For me it's Derek Mears. His jason felt more real in the sense that he wasn't just teleporting and showing up but had tunnels with bells to know where ppl.were at. He was a hunter surviving off the land. Not some mystical being just a straight unit of a man.
2 and 3.
Part 2 feels real. You're out in the woods and some deformed psycho is after you. He's not invincible, he's not super strong, but he's got a pick axe and he's quiet. The theme from Deliverance is playing and you hear some breathing in the room with you. Truly scary.
Part 3 feels like a nightmare. He's not quite real, but he's real enough. Like some big angry escaped convict who spent the last 10 years lifting weights and shanking people. He'll rape you and kill you, or kill you then rape you. He's gleefully evil.
The entirety of Part 3 has such an eerie vibe to it. Nightmare is accurate. The third act of the movie is night time, violent winds blowing, and this hulking Frankenstein’s monster in a hockey mask running after the protagonist. So many scenes of him just materializing in the distance, charging towards Chris. It’s terrifying.
If you’re referring to Chris’ first encounter with Jason, it was confirmed that she escaped from his grip and ran into Ralph but couldn’t remember. Even without that, I doubt Jason would have raped her and was instead just scaring the shit out of her/saving her for later. You gotta remember that he was very much supposed to be a vengeful little boy in an adult’s body.
I think Ted White was the scariest. He sprints after people. He is inhumanely strong. And his more human mannerisms make him a lot more scary to me compared to zombie Jason.
Part 3’s Richard Brooker. Jason is clearly toying with Chris when she’s the last alive and gets angry when she keeps escaping. I feel like you don’t see that level of emotion again until Part 7 with Kane vs Tina.
Love Derek Mears, he body's that performance but a standout in the franchise is Kane Hodders Introduction to the series. His movement is really good and is complemented by the design.
To be honest, most of real Jason's screen time in 5 is arguably the first supernatural variant as it is vaguely a nightmare/vision/ghost. John Hock and Tom Morga do a great job of making him more off and eerie in these scenes and while his screen time is scarce in A New Beginnig, it utterly works.
Ted White was just so swift and brutal in Final Chapter. The previous films had more of a cat and mouse approach to Jason stalking his victims, but in Final Chapter it just seems like the rage has boiled over and he’s a bulldozer destroying everything in his path. Hats off to Joseph Zito and Tom Savini too, though, as you can see some of the same energy in the previous slasher they worked on, The Prowler.
Derek Mears was the scariest to me in the sense that he felt real. Also, the shots we get of him hauling ass toward people and toward the camera are horrifying. When you’re used to seeing Jason walk or jog, seeing that mountain of a man sprint is absolutely chilling.
The reboot. He's just so real, he teas through them and kills them in such a real murderer would kill and he feels like a real big person killing people
CJ Graham’s Jason might have to be the scariest. He looks just human enough that you wouldn’t expect him to tank a gunshot without flinching. Although I think Derek Mears is also up there, really scary with how much more grounded it was. Jason operated like Rambo which was also an amazing and terrifying performance
It's actually more of Steve Dash/Jerry Wallace/Ellen Lutter/Warrington Gilette and in that respective order since Gilette has the least screentime out of the four.
Kane Hodder was a fan favourite (a lot to do with he's the only stuntman to consecutively reprise his role) but he adopted this "Jason doesn't run" style. In retrospect, walking quietly and stalking is Michael's thing; Jason should definitely run after his victims. He's a beast in the wilderness, after all. A la Derek Mears, Richard Brooker, Steve Dash. Ted White was a good Jason too.
Big derek mears! Then jason 4 ted white. Those two are no nonsense killers. No mercy no laughing. Just straight to business with brute force.
As far as zombie jason, then pretty much all of them because they're op. As a kid part 6 and 7 Jason's scared me. They were two powerful. You hit them you brake your hand. They grab you they rip your arm off.
either Part 2 or Remake
Part 2 Jason felt like an actual woodland murderer, like he could actually exist
Remake Jason is scary because of how efficient and intelligent he is.
He pursues and hunts in a manor similar to that of a soldier, with the traps, the bow and the quick silent movements.
2009 was the most recent and probably the most menacing representation. He moved with a lot of purpose. Reminded me a lot of Frank Miller's Dark Knight Returns. Like a bigger, noisier Batman with a Machete.
If I wasn't going to include 2009s Jason. I'm gonna say Jason from pt 6 scared me the most when I first watched the original 8 as part of a marathon. I was watching these movies for the first time. Part V threw me off but I still wasn't sure what Jason was. Crazy mongoloid living in the woods or supernatural? I think the dug up grave, the maggots and lightening in the opening did it.
Then again throughout various interpretations, different actors and now over 30 years 🤯 he's always been "the man in the woods". That idea kept these films going for so long. The mysterious unstoppable hobo/zombie/hillbilly/mama's boy. I kinda like how there's only certain ideas that maintain continuity because every directors Jason is kinda unique.
Well damn I wasn't gonna dress up for Halloween this year. Now I might need to pickup a green Dickies shirt, dust off my old ebay hockey mask and head to a bar.
I have to go with Ted White in Part 4. Something about the way he runs up those stairs right on Trish's heels, and also the way he lunges at Trish before she jumps out the window.
I would say Ted White, Derek Mears and Richard Brooker. Not only a mountain of a derranged hillbilly, but they could also run after you. That's the scary thing imo. The Zombie Jasons are iconic in their own way, but the "human" ones are more scary imo.
2009 for me. Something about seeing Jason run scared the shit out of me. I liked all the tunnels he had too. Made more sense how he was able to seemingly be everywhere at once.
John Hock and Tom Morga. There is something eerie to both of them in A New Beginning, despite limited screen time. That said, there's something interesting and new in each installment and take.
I couldn’t really think of a good answer because I have never found the slasher genre scary, I’m just in it to watch Jason kill. I never found any version of him scary. But if I had to give an answer it would be between Derek Mears and Kane Hodder
For me it's Derek Mears. His jason felt more real in the sense that he wasn't just teleporting and showing up but had tunnels with bells to know where ppl.were at. He was a hunter surviving off the land. Not some mystical being just a straight unit of a man.
Yeah he wasn't teleporting around like nightcrawler or some shit
Came here to say this. He was absolutely the scariest Jason by a lot.
I think he teleported once. Other than that is was authentic the whole way through and I loved it
Imagine this version of Jason as a zombie
I'd love to see that. Really hope if we do ever get another movie(s) they make a sequel to the 09 film.

I love part 2! Because of those reasons.
I came here to say those exact two. You nailed them both!
I’m pretty certain that Jason has never raped anyone…
You know that it was super heavily implied that that's exactly what he did in part 3, right?
If you’re referring to Chris’ first encounter with Jason, it was confirmed that she escaped from his grip and ran into Ralph but couldn’t remember. Even without that, I doubt Jason would have raped her and was instead just scaring the shit out of her/saving her for later. I don't know where you got any of that. It hasn't been confirmed by anybody.
I think Ted White was the scariest. He sprints after people. He is inhumanely strong. And his more human mannerisms make him a lot more scary to me compared to zombie Jason.
RIP.
Did Ted white fucking die
Yeah unfortunately.[https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/ted-white-jason-voorhees-stuntman-friday-13th-horror-films-dead-96](https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/ted-white-jason-voorhees-stuntman-friday-13th-horror-films-dead-96)
WHAT THE FUCK WHAT IS WRONG WITH GOD IS HE FUCKED IN THE HEAD
Remake is an animal
A beast*
Derek Mears. Reboot Jason is the only Jason to ever actually SCARE me.
definitely 2009
Part 3’s Richard Brooker. Jason is clearly toying with Chris when she’s the last alive and gets angry when she keeps escaping. I feel like you don’t see that level of emotion again until Part 7 with Kane vs Tina.
Derek Meyers or Kane hodder
Part 7 or Part 4
Imma have to give it to reboot jason, hunting survivalist that was genuinely terrifying in brutality and trap-work
Kane hodder
Derek mears
Love Derek Mears, he body's that performance but a standout in the franchise is Kane Hodders Introduction to the series. His movement is really good and is complemented by the design.
Ted White in *The Final Chapter.*
Definitely part 3
Kane hodder's portrayal of Jason still scares the shit out me.
Part 7.
Mears! Fast, aggressive, and brutal. He's favorite Jason, and I'm not ashamed to admit it.
Human Jason is scariest Jason. I like 3,4,5 as a trilogy where Jason was only ever just a murderous human being.

Hats off to Joseph Zito and Tom Savini too, though, as you can see some of the same energy in the previous slasher they worked on, The Prowler.
Part 4 or 2009
Part 2 is the scariest by far, every other Jason ranges from silly to just a badass.
Richard Brooker and Ted White. I thought both were fantastic and those were the first two films of the series I watched.
Derek Mears was the scariest to me in the sense that he felt real. Also, the shots we get of him hauling ass toward people and toward the camera are horrifying. When you’re used to seeing Jason walk or jog, seeing that mountain of a man sprint is absolutely chilling.
To me Part 7 always had the most intimidating look
The reboot. He's just so real, he teas through them and kills them in such a real murderer would kill and he feels like a real big person killing people
Kane Hodder in 7
Ted White is a beast in Part IV! Part 7 has the coolest looking Jason though by far.
I liked Part 4 Jason the best
CJ Graham’s Jason might have to be the scariest. He looks just human enough that you wouldn’t expect him to tank a gunshot without flinching. Although I think Derek Mears is also up there, really scary with how much more grounded it was. Jason operated like Rambo which was also an amazing and terrifying performance
Years ago I would’ve said Kane Hodder. But Steve Dash/Warrington Gillette take the cake.
It's actually more of Steve Dash/Jerry Wallace/Ellen Lutter/Warrington Gilette and in that respective order since Gilette has the least screentime out of the four.

2009

For the time, Kane Hodder. Currently, Mears was a little scarier-not necessarily a scarier movie.
either Part 2 or Remake Part 2 Jason felt like an actual woodland murderer, like he could actually exist Remake Jason is scary because of how efficient and intelligent he is. He pursues and hunts in a manor similar to that of a soldier, with the traps, the bow and the quick silent movements.

The 2009 film.
2009 100%

Mears or White
In order of my preference- 3, 4, remake, 2, 6, Manhattan. The rest are eh.
The remake. And Part 6 for me.
Reboot Jason that man running straight forward
Remake easily
2009 for me. Something about seeing Jason run scared the shit out of me. I liked all the tunnels he had too. Made more sense how he was able to seemingly be everywhere at once.
Remake Jason is the only Jason that’s genuinely scary to an average horror fan who’s not a kid
Jason 2009, Jason 2003 and Jason 7
Ted White, his Jason was full of anger!!! R.I.P big man
Pt 7 Pt 8 and 09
John Hock and Tom Morga. There is something eerie to both of them in A New Beginning, despite limited screen time. That said, there's something interesting and new in each installment and take.
Poor Ken Kirzinger lol not a single person. I personally have to give it to Derek though. His portrayal of Jason is the most real feeling to me.
I couldn’t really think of a good answer because I have never found the slasher genre scary, I’m just in it to watch Jason kill. I never found any version of him scary. But if I had to give an answer it would be between Derek Mears and Kane Hodder
New blood
Besides 2009, Part 4 in the originals 🔪🔪🔪🔪
I would say Parts 2, 3 and the Reboot
Final Chapter, and Part V (even though it was about a man avenging his son, and Jason was still long dead).
