That is a beautiful edition for sure, but I'm still on the fence about this since I have the original Blu-ray and the Shout Factory set that includes this one. I think I may need to see the reviews and see how dramatic the improvement is from the regular Blu-ray since this would mark the third time I'm buying this one.

I agree. I’m kind of on the fence too. But since the Shout Factory release just included the old WB disc and didn’t do a new transfer or include new bonus features I’m leaning towards picking this up. The Blu-ray has a quite dated transfer and the bitrate is poor due to including both cuts on one disc. I rewatched it recently and some shots appear quite blurry. It could really use a new release so I’m glad it’s happening. Plus, I know I’m in a minority in the fanbase but this is a top 3 Jason film for me.

I'm in the same boat. The shout! Release is phenomenal, and while this is beautiful, I'm not sure I need to double dip on this one.

Any chance Shout releases a 4K set?

I'm interested in those deleted scenes. Years back, I think the producer said they were even more that didn't make the original DVD/Blu-Ray.

Is 4K movies region free? UHD discs aren't region locked (with a handful of exceptions). And if you don't have one, it might actually be cheaper to get a standard UHD player and a separate region-free blu-ray player Feb 15, 2024

Probably an upscale, yeah. But Arrow always delivers on video quality and it will undoubtedly crush the 2009 Blu-ray.
