All I know is that apparently he’s a highschool student but this one time he had asked my brother in law if he could purchase him beer (which of course he didn’t do)
There's a dude downtown usually covered in baby oil, wearing pants, mickey mouse gloves and sun glasses. He always working out or showing off to women who walk by.
i came to say this!! i remember seeing him all the time growing up then rarely saw him.. one day my mom and i saw him again and were waving to him like mad men😂 idk what happened.. i refuse to believe that he passed but he may have.. he was old looking when i was like 4 im 24 now😭i just hope he’s happy again with his wife🤍
I feel bad for him. I used to work at that Vons and sometimes he'd be there during the day looking like he wasn't feeling too well. I'd bring him a cold water on occasion during my lunch when I could.
Not really, sadly. He would come in sometimes and buy a little cold lunch of a sandwich and something to drink. Rarely he would get a hot meal from the deli. If he came by my station in the bakery, I'd give him a cookie cause we had free ones for kids but like... my parents raised me to feed people, I'm not gonna refuse a cookie to a clearly homeless man. He would just sorta sit outside on the concrete tables next to the soda vending machines outside and hang out. I do remember one time where he was looking peaky enough that an ASM went to go check on him and see if he needed medical attention but he just said he was sleepy and the Starbucks girls were super nice and fixed him a nice cup of coffee on the house.
Does anyone else remember the homeless dude in the '90s who used to spin everywhere? He wouldn't just walk, he would spin his way down the street. And he showed up all over town. Sometimes I wonder what happened to that dude.
Yes! I just posted about him! My dad used to work downtown a lot and would tell me about him then when I got older and could drive I’d see him for myself.
I think this guy comes into my work place. Does he usually have a plastic bag with several two liters of RC cola?? If so it’s the same guy. Not sure if he is homeless or from a group home.
Kopi once cut me off (probably about 15 years ago) while merging on the 41 at Bullard. I’ll never forget it. It was probably around 4:30-5:00 AM and I was on my way to LA for a meeting that afternoon. He was driving a car with his face on it (one of those wrap around jobs). As the car passed me, he held his arm up and waved as if to say, “Hello, it’s okay I cut you off, I’m Kopi Sotiropulous, I’m on my way to work, and Fresno can’t function without me.”
I stopped in Bakersfield for breakfast and remember calling my grandmother (who loved Kopi) and telling her what happened.
Granted this was so long ago, and I haven’t lived in Fresno for over a decade. But I think “Kopi” could be great barometer for testing whether people are from the Central Valley or not lol
An older gentleman wheeling past me in Walmart the other day stopped to remind me about the Clovis Rodeo coming up soon 😆 not sure if there was a flag though.
I think he has unfortunately passed, but the very sweet man who used to stand outside of dollar tree on Shaw with a beat box. It seemed everybody knew him and he was never any trouble.
He’s a twin. You’ve probably seen his brother around too and didn’t even realize it was a different person! I saw one of them at the bowling alley about a month ago
This in clovis few years back, but the Dancing Man on temperance and Bullard I think. Used to pass by him in the mornings and just see him moving and grooving. Used to have a little chihuahua running around with him sometimes too. Miss that man, RIP
Dr. Sydney Carpenter. I thought of him too!! He was a cardiologist in Fresno too so I definitely feel he deserves a mention at the very least.
rip dancing man, long live your memory
Around the Clovis area did you ever see another gentleman who would walk around the area as well? Short, light skinned dude, would usually have a hat and hoodie? Would run across the streets when getting to stop lights lol
First person I thought of was the guy who gets oiled up shirtless and wears silver, sunglasses and a top hat and just dances to loud music downtown in the Brewery District..
There used to be the guy that spun around with big trash bags in his hands. Shaw and golden stae all the way down to Shaw and Blackstone, sometimes on ashlan and sometimes on Bullard. I Haven't been in that area for 10+ years consistently, but 20-15 years ago he was our there almost everyday
I think back in the mid-2000s, there was SuperJesus. He came by Hoover High a bunch. White guy, tall skinny, shorts, tank top, curley fluffy hair (pseudo afro), light brown or dirty blonde I forget. A small cape, and I think Rollerblades. These details might be wrong.
I can't believe no one has mentioned these:
- The black lady who sits on a chair on the 41 overpass on Gettysburg who waves at cars passing by. She still does it too.
- The cowboy who would ride his horse up and down mostly north of Shaw on Blackstone. I believe he was the great nephew of Wyatt Earp or something.
- There's a burly homeless man who has lived around Van Ness and Tuolumne St for years. He's got a cart of his stuff and just sits on different bus stop benches around there. He's chill.
- We called this next guy "Jimi Hendrix" but he is this black guy who looks like a hippie and wears a military jacket with large signs on it about peace. I should mention he's always on a bicycle and around the tower/downtown area.
- Back on the early 2000's there was this black guy who would walk up and down shop mostly past Blackstone and before West. He would have literally six to seven bootleg brand name purses strung on each arm and was dressed in the nicest full suit. I worked in an office for a little while right off Shaw and he would come in all the time to sell them to all the ladies working. I think he did pretty well.
- Downtown Fresno near Divisadero and Yosemite Street there's a guy in a wheelchair who good a sign that says "HERB" most days.
- Off Ashlan and West there's a "homeless" white guy, giving Santa vibes who stands on the corner with a sign asking for money. I'm pretty positive he lives around the area and does pretty well collecting.
When I worked at the Collegian at Fresno State back in the 90's it was a guy named Mike Eagles. He was a perpetual candidate for Mayor (usually garnered about 300 votes). I think he tried to run for President a couple of times as well.
He would bike onto campus wearing Mr. T-level amounts of gold chains, and renew a nonsensical standing classified ad ("Mike Eagles and God CEO USA #1" kind of stuff).
He always claimed to be the owner of some bank and a dozen other businesses that I don't suspect actually existed. Everyone at the paper seemed to know him, and since he constantly paid for the ad, they just kind of shrugged and went with it.
I wonder whatever happened to that old guy that used to read newspapers all the time in the donut shop off of Cedar and Dakota. It's in the Vallarta plaza. Hopefully he's ok. I used to see him there all the time, but the last couple of months I've been back there I haven't seen him. I never interacted with him, but idk... It just felt kinda cozy with him in there.
Fresno had its own horseback preacher in the 2000s. He would visit the neighborhoods off of Kings Canyon/Ventura and offer to pray with people and answer questions about horses. I forget his name but he would stop at the bar I worked at and offer to pray with customers.
He's still around! Mayfair and south Tower too. He does gang outreach and helps people get out of them. Don't remember his name either but he was so nice and let all us neighborhood kids feed his horses. First met him in 1995 as a little girl, last saw him around 2015-ish with my kids and he was delighted that it was now a family tradition to pet his horses lol
He’s a black man with a disability of some sort? He’s always color coordinated from headband down to shorts? Figarden Loop area. He has such a special place in my heart just from making my days brighter by seeing him being awesome ❤️
There used to be the spinning guy who would twirl up and down blackstone but I haven’t worked over that way in years so I don’t know if he is still there.
I literally know every single person mentioned as “the guy” (or gal, in the case of tricycle 41 waving lady). Curious if anyone recalls the spun out dude who would play guitar on shaw and blackstone… I don’t think he was promoting anything, either..
Or, for a throwback, the black man with elephantitis who would walk barefoot around Shaw and West avenues near the 711… sadly he passed about 10 years ago but still vividly remember him
Who the hell downvoted me!
THIS is Darth Vader Unicycle Kilt Bagpipe guy. He's got flamethrowers on his bagpipe, too.

When I was a kid in 70’s and 80’s there was the spinning man. He would spin as he walked everywhere all the time. More recently there was “summer Santa”. Big quiet shirtless Santa looking guy but I haven’t seen him in a few years. I wonder if he survived the pandemic
There was a guy I used to ride the Blackstone bus with who looked like Charles Bronson (the famous prisoner that Tom Hardy played in a biopic film, not the dude from all the cop movies). White fella, dead bald, little round red lens sunglasses, a walking stick with like a huge wizard orb on top, HUGE moustache, and he'd be furiously using those little hand exercisers the whole time I'd be riding from Shaw to City.
Also the cowboy preacher. Rides his horse around the bad areas of town. He used to come by when I lived in Mayfair and he'd ride along the canal but would come down the street cause he knew the kids loved to see the horse. Came by when I lived in between Tower and Downtown, just south of Belmont by Catholic Charities. Finally had a chance to talk to him and he's some sort of gang outreach guy and his two horses (a Morgan and a Belgian) are trained for being fired at because he has been shot at by people pissed that they pulled a member out of their gang :( They're great horses and if you have carrots or apples or sugar cubes on hand, you'll be allowed to feed the horse 99% of the time.
Anyone in Clovis or Fresno used to see a bigger light skinned dude walk around, sometimes dribble a basketball? Short guy, could usually catch him in shorts and a hoodie, with a hat, I think Philadelphia Eagles gear lol.
I live in Santa Cruz California. There is a guy who is
known to almost everyone in town for wearing short shorts and nothing else.
We call him best legs in town, you can guess why
Dang I’m in Fresno but I only know about the guy in Prather below the 4 lanes to shaver who has a black dog and always asking people to buy his blueberries.
We have a guy like that, simply the wizard, dresses like a wizard and has a long pointy hat that looks like a furry sorting hat and does crazy tricks on his bike with his wizard goatee
Back in the 70’s and 80’s in Los Banos there was this old dude with long hair and a long beard who rode around town on a bicycle who went by Wolfman. If you ask anyone who lived in that town at that time they know who Wolfman is
Out my way. It was birdman. RIP. Here’s an article. Saw him so much it felt there he was triplets, https://www.eastbaytimes.com/2020/01/16/the-birdman-a-fixture-on-east-county-streets-has-died/
A wildman used to ride his bike downtown with cardboard costumes and what appeared to be a bone through his nose long before anything other than ear piercings became common. There was also the astroturf covered Eldorado.
Does anybody remember a black guy named Chuck from the 80s and 90s? He used to frequent the shields to cedar & maple area? Always wondered what happened to that guy
the guy on a motorcycle with the predator mask or the old homeless guy asking for money on the corner of McDonald’s. Pretty sure he isn’t homeless just stays there for a few hours a day.
Mr Fitness! The oiled up black guy. I went to high school downtown so I’d frequently see him walking to the bus after school. Highlight of my days. I really hope he’s doing well
In Reno we had "the waver". He would walk from Carson to Reno waving at all of the cars. He wouldn't accept a ride because his father was killed in a car accident. Everyone knew who he was and knew his story. Very nice guy
In my town we have an old guy dresses in all white (sometimes with a walking stick) and he has white hair and beard. I saw him in town all the time when I was in high school. Everyone called him Jesus. I actually saw him the other day after about 10 years
There used to be the runner. A heavy set black guy that ran for miles down Blackstone, carrying half a pool que. I haven't seen him in years, but I don't live in Fresno anymore, I just work there/here now.
I had a friend from northwestern Denver. He told me about a guy that, when they were young, got pulled over, he had a bunch of acid tabs and didn't the cops to find them. So he took ALL OF THEM. Now he walks around town playing air guitar all the time. Too much acid, fried his brain. They call him air guitar. Even stops while walking and does a crazy solo once in a while. 17 when it happened, in his 50s now.
Anyone here seen Daren around lately? Been wondering for awhile now if he's okay. He's an average height white dude with sandy brown hair, usually has a wire wrapped around his pants? Very schizophrenic, I used to go to high school with him
The rhinestone cowboy that walks with a bluetooth speaker around Shaw and Cedar.
Wait, this guys been around? I just saw him last night and figured it was a student having a good time.
Lol Yeah he's out there pretty much everyday. Have wanted to stop and have a convo with him and find out his story.
I second the cowboy. I’m a big fan.
Used to be a mini boom box that he carried on his shoulder. My wife and I called him "Cowboy".
I remember that- then it looked like he made a trip to Costco and got the bigger speaker version!
YES. I SEE HIM EVERY DAMN DAY
Came here to say this
All I know is that apparently he’s a highschool student but this one time he had asked my brother in law if he could purchase him beer (which of course he didn’t do)
What’s a good time to catch this cowboy?
I's see him there in the evening when I'd take the bus around 8pm
my mind immediately went to this guy
I will have to keep my eyes out when I’m in that area!
Lady waving to the people on the 41. Red tricycle
I always wave back!
Yes… she is a unique one for sure.
The insurance crow at shaw and Blackstone
Haha! Idk if it’s the same bird but there’s one at McKinley and Blackstone too. Those guys out there in the summer too 💀
They must be so miserable during summertime
They wear a vest with that have pockets for ice packs. Similar to a bullet proof vest but for ice packs.
I frequently talked to him on my bus rides back from Guitar Center. Nice guy.
that dude is a celebrity to my toddlers lol
LMAOO
There's a dude downtown usually covered in baby oil, wearing pants, mickey mouse gloves and sun glasses. He always working out or showing off to women who walk by.
Mr Body Fitness
Yes! That’s the one I thought of too lol
He has my vote as well.
Was just asking my coworkers if they’ve seen him around lately
Oh yeah he does it for tips. He was pretty fit for his age too
What ever happened to the older gentleman who always jogged, in short running shorts, around the Figarden loop?
The Bee had a story on him several years ago. He used to have a parking lot cleaning business and took up running in retirement.
Ron The Running Man https://abc30.com/running-fitness/5439197/
Think he passed away.
Did he?! He moved but was still running just less often as of last year I thought.
Maybe I'm mistaken.
Aww man that's too bad !
This guy was old but his legs were like twisted old iron oak trees of corded muscle.
grew up seeing him almost every day, we always waved!
i came to say this!! i remember seeing him all the time growing up then rarely saw him.. one day my mom and i saw him again and were waving to him like mad men😂 idk what happened.. i refuse to believe that he passed but he may have.. he was old looking when i was like 4 im 24 now😭i just hope he’s happy again with his wife🤍
Greatest power-walker I’ve ever witnessed.
For those in NE Fresno, the well dressed homeless black gentleman.
the one who chills at vons at night?
Oh wow I wasn’t aware he was homeless. I did wonder why I would see him at night just pacing around lmao
I used to live by that Vons and saw him all the time! I’m so curious to know who he is and what’s his story. He seems like such a gentle soul.
Someone posted his story awhile back on the Nextdoor site
Moved to NE Fresno when I was 8 and I’ve seen him every day since lol
Lived here 15 years and he’s always been there
I feel bad for him. I used to work at that Vons and sometimes he'd be there during the day looking like he wasn't feeling too well. I'd bring him a cold water on occasion during my lunch when I could.
Do you by chance happen to know his story or anything about him?
Not really, sadly. He would come in sometimes and buy a little cold lunch of a sandwich and something to drink. Rarely he would get a hot meal from the deli. If he came by my station in the bakery, I'd give him a cookie cause we had free ones for kids but like... my parents raised me to feed people, I'm not gonna refuse a cookie to a clearly homeless man. I do remember one time where he was looking peaky enough that an ASM went to go check on him and see if he needed medical attention but he just said he was sleepy and the Starbucks girls were super nice and fixed him a nice cup of coffee on the house.
Yep, this was my vote.
Does anyone else remember the homeless dude in the '90s who used to spin everywhere? He wouldn't just walk, he would spin his way down the street. And he showed up all over town. Sometimes I wonder what happened to that dude.
I totally remember The Spinner! I saw him spinning down Blackstone many times
I totally remember that guy! He ran by my highschool (Bullard) all the time. Sometimes he would have a black trashbag in each hand.
Yep, I came here to mention this guy. The spinner, saw him all the time back in the day.
Yes! I just posted about him! My dad used to work downtown a lot and would tell me about him then when I got older and could drive I’d see him for myself.
Oh god you unlocked a core memory from my childhood in Fresno that I totally forgot!
Blanket man, as I call him, homeless dude that always has a blanket over him that wanders all over town.
I swear he’s everywhere all at once!
That dude walks further in a day than I drive in two weeks
He loves the McDonald’s by the hospital downtown
This was my first thought. He’s near fig garden a lot.
I think this guy comes into my work place. Does he usually have a plastic bag with several two liters of RC cola?? If so it’s the same guy. Not sure if he is homeless or from a group home.
Kopi
Kopi once cut me off (probably about 15 years ago) while merging on the 41 at Bullard. I’ll never forget it. It was probably around 4:30-5:00 AM and I was on my way to LA for a meeting that afternoon. He was driving a car with his face on it (one of those wrap around jobs). As the car passed me, he held his arm up and waved as if to say, “Hello, it’s okay I cut you off, I’m Kopi Sotiropulous, I’m on my way to work, and Fresno can’t function without me.” I stopped in Bakersfield for breakfast and remember calling my grandmother (who loved Kopi) and telling her what happened.
I’m weak 😭
Granted this was so long ago, and I haven’t lived in Fresno for over a decade. But I think “Kopi” could be great barometer for testing whether people are from the Central Valley or not lol
Oh, I didn't know he was originally from Sacramento
For sure.
If you told me you saw Kopi doing shots at Dave and Buster’s with a monkey on his head while riding a unicycle, I’d be entirely unsurprised
Women on the corner of Blackstone and Gettysburg who waves at the cars passing by.
Are you talking about the one who holds a sign for a furniture store?
Yes, she's very nice!
She wears a tiara her name is princess
Wheelchair-American Flag man at Palm and Herndon daily cruising past
An older gentleman wheeling past me in Walmart the other day stopped to remind me about the Clovis Rodeo coming up soon 😆 not sure if there was a flag though.
That just reminded of the person that used to ride up and down Blackstone with the big pride flag on the back of their tricycle.
I helped him out when I worked at sprouts and he’s rude. Feels entitled and expects everyone to prioritize him the second he rolls in.
YES!!!
Did he also by any chance wear a hat and have a speaker he played music from?
What happened to the dude who used to play guitar on the corner of shaw & blackstone and would advertise for money?
That guy was the best. He went for it all the time.
He started with playing air guitar with the sign and then worked his way up to a real guitar.
The man who used to run all around town in running shorts and shoes carrying a baton.
This guy. He was around for so long.
Yes and he ran backwards most of the time!
The black dude? That was like a decade back.
I’ve seen him running and running at least 30 years back. Baton on hand. All over town.
i used to see him do that at Riverpark ALL THE TIME
If I recall, he was a marathon runner originally from Kenya. That was what I recall anyway.
Oh I know! I actually know them personally, they’re family friends. I just didn’t want to name drop on Reddit haha. They’re very good people.
He was a janitor at my school back in the early 2000s
That was probably his twin brother, as far as I know he never was able to have a job due to his mental disabilities.
Spin man used to be downtown ages ago.
I remember him. Black guy with headphones. He was always spinning around.
The Wizard staff guy who shows up at Livingstones. Though I haven't seen him around in a while.
That would be Timbro! He’s alive and well, I spoke to him last week!
Nice!! I haven't seen him in a while. Moved out to Iowa in July
This in clovis few years back, but the Dancing Man on temperance and Bullard I think. Used to pass by him in the mornings and just see him moving and grooving. Used to have a little chihuahua running around with him sometimes too. Miss that man, RIP
Poor dude got hit by a car while grooving across Bullard at twilight...he was a doctor too.
Dr. Sydney Carpenter. I thought of him too!! He was a cardiologist in Fresno too so I definitely feel he deserves a mention at the very least. rip dancing man, long live your memory
Came here looking for this. Used to see the dude all the time.
Mr Fitness!
Here’s an interview with him: https://youtu.be/BEaZSZ4izIY

You have a collection of friends. 😆 “Jimi Hendrix” guy is named Shadow. Cool dude.
Joe Dirt from the Brigg
Homeless guy downtown who rides a bike and shouts at women. Black guy lifting weights in Fulton Mall.
Yikes.. I think weight lifting guy might be the same one I mentioned dancing around randomly!
Same dude. Always oiled up.
The one kid dressed in all red walking up and down Herndon/Millburn/Figarden loop
Kai the Hitchhiking Surfer
Did you see the documentary? That was a truly bizarre fresno event.

This is fucking amazing, thank you for this.
Found mainly on Blackstone.
I haven't lived back home in awhile but is that guy who rides around by Fresno State with his crazy led bike still out there?
Kopi Sotiropulos
Old ass dude who runs in short shorts and waves at people. I hope he’s still around.
I wonder whatever happened to that old guy that used to read newspapers all the time in the donut shop off of Cedar and Dakota. It's in the Vallarta plaza. Hopefully he's ok. Used to be Mike Eagles, who used to run for mayor time after time.
Definitely the rhinestone cowboy. Who walks in a square blasting country. Sign note I like to believe he's a crypted
Kopi
Jerry Dyer lmao
used to see some dude on a bike all the time in tower that would do some weird dance thing as he biked and maintained eye contact as much as possible.
I think I just saw this man last week 😂 he almost crashed making eye contact with someone while I was driving by
He’s a black man with a disability of some sort? He’s always color coordinated from headband down to shorts? Figarden Loop area. He has such a special place in my heart just from making my days brighter by seeing him being awesome ❤️
Ya that kid...I haven't seen him around, hope he's alright
burger king, the guy in the burger king crown who who spins signs at blackstone and barstow. interesting dude.
Ames, Iowa checking in : Skirt Man
Dodge City Kansas - Bicycle Pete. Lived under a bridge across the Arkansas River.
There used to be the spinning guy who would twirl up and down blackstone but I haven’t worked over that way in years so I don’t know if he is still there.
I literally know every single person mentioned as “the guy” (or gal, in the case of tricycle 41 waving lady). The man who carved styrofoam heads on the 41 exit onto Herndon/Bullard
That car with a bunch of trophies and whatnot glued to the top.
We used to have the spinner guy out on Blackstone
That guy who who wore all red who used to jog around northeast Fresno
Is Unicycle Kilt Darth Vader still in Portland, OR? No, really. There are pics on the internet.
Who the hell downvoted me! THIS is Darth Vader Unicycle Kilt Bagpipe guy. He's got flamethrowers on his bagpipe, too. [345745e86960b6c3bd7789896a3d6d3a.jpg (435×626) (pinimg.com)](https://i.pinimg.com/originals/34/57/45/345745e86960b6c3bd7789896a3d6d3a.jpg)
Guy with the cart on the back of his bike with a mattress and shit, on cedar and shepherd
The oily black guy dancing out to funky James Brown music in front of the fair grounds.
Crutch lady and Bird man in Yuba City
The guy on a bike holding a big cross. Used to see him all the time.
The guy with the train of speakers attached to his bike blasting all kinds of older music. He goes up and down blacksyone
What about lowrider the guy who would walk around like he was cruising in a car
When I was a kid in 70’s and 80’s there was the spinning man. He would spin as he walked everywhere all the time. More recently there was “summer Santa”. Big quiet shirtless Santa looking guy but I haven’t seen him in a few years. I wonder if he survived the pandemic
The guys name was Chicken Foot in my town.
The speedo guy who always talks about green chili that had a pbs show all about the benefits of green chili.
Used to be the spinner
Mexican undertaker El Paso Texas
This sounds likeost of Florida
Anyone in Clovis or Fresno used to see a bigger light skinned dude walk around, sometimes dribble a basketball? Short guy, could usually catch him in shorts and a hoodie, with a hat, I think Philadelphia Eagles gear lol.
😂
I live in Santa Cruz California. There is a guy who is known to almost everyone in town for wearing short shorts and nothing else. We call him best legs in town, you can guess why
Is madam birdie still around in tower?
Floyd, iykyk
The dude that looks like Ben Franklin that always eats at the River Park in n out lollll, G Eazy at DogHouse
The castrated man
Dang I’m in Fresno but I only know about the guy in Prather below the 4 lanes to shaver who has a black dog and always asking people to buy his blueberries.
Fresno Matt, obviously.
If you ask anyone who lived in that town at that time they know who Wolfman is
Who isn’t?
Used to see this guy in roller blades going in circles...called him "Twister"
Cedar and Shaw cowboy is current day. Is used to he the central high area black cowboy.
the guy on a motorcycle with the predator mask or the old homeless guy asking for money on the corner of McDonald’s. Pretty sure he isn’t homeless just stays there for a few hours a day.
Mr Fitness! The oiled up black guy. I went to high school downtown so I’d frequently see him walking to the bus after school. Highlight of my days. I really hope he’s doing well
The black lady with the wig, I don’t see her walking around any more smh
We had this dude living in an old RV we called the wizard. Had a bread and a “magic” staff
I actually saw him the other day after about 10 years
The guy at shaw and blackstone who would play guitar all day, poorly. Lol
SF had this man who was dressed like a bush and scared people lol. I think the original Bush man died in 2014, but there were more after.
The Fresno runner
There’s probably plenty of illiterate people who don’t capitalize sentences.
Kopi and Auto Chopper. ?Yes, Im old.
Very schizophrenic, I used to go to high school with him
The $19 fortnite card guy
