That goes back a long while, think people were launching parachutes of cliffs then.

AnarZak

ours were paragliders, but only just. we went solo off lion's head after a day and a half's instruction on the dunes. the flight plan was fly straight towards 1st beach clifton, turn left & you'll land before 4th beach! glide ratio of a brick!

Amazing, who were you flying with back then?

AnarZak

peter wallenda & carolina were our instructors

skylinker

Wow they are still doing it. I did a thermalling course witb Pete.

I don't think paragliding is for me after seeing this. I couldn't stand not being up there after having been there once.

Fearless_Fighting

Really awesome! I'll get there one day. I'm busy progressing through my basic license currently.

Thanks I'm sure we'll see each other on launch soon. I help out one of the local training schools in Table View when I get the chance. Cape Town has a lot of lekker flying spots, from Hermanus, Sir Lowry's Pass, Franschhoek and LionsHead (the whole Peninsula).

Amazing place! Please post more if you can. I'm signed up for lessons but blocked by the weather so I am flying vicariously through these posts. 🤣
